Fabulous sandwiches, lovely jacket potatoes, brilliant salad boxes, nothing is too much trouble, very reasonable prices, can’t rate it highly enough!

Went here because I needed a take away sandwich and it was fantastic. I have a chicken and sweetcorn sandwich on grannery breads. Loads of sliced chicken, fresh Mayo and even more fresh bread. It was simply stunning.

My title says it all. These guys epitomise what the local business is and I personally will support them over the chains as the quality and service is second to none :)

I stumbled across Wilphy's and now I won't go anywhere else. Always greeted with such a welcome and for the money you get sooo much and it's always really fresh. I hope more people will support local businesses like this.

¡No haría esto como nunca está abierto! ! ¡Visité la tienda tres veces y las tres veces se cerró con un cartel en la ventana que decía en una feria comercial! ! Podrían ser los mejores bocadillos del mundo, ¡pero nadie lo sabría nunca!

We use Wilphys every Summer when we are back working on the house nearby. Usually have breakfast there, everything freshly prepared and delicious

Run by welcoming, friendly owners, who seem to maintain a good standard of hygiene. Range of filled rolls, baguettes for eat in or takeaway, as well as a cooked selection.

Visited the sandwich bar for first time today and I am so pleased with everything. Two beautiful ladies served me just before close, few options for vegetarians I had my sandwich made on site with fresh ingredients and salad. The quality for the price is smashing. In comparison to Subway, I paid a price for a 6-inch and received a footlong sandwich with significantly better quality! Kindly served, plus a student discount, Wilphy's is a spot on. Too bad it's not nearer to my study building.

Went to Wilphy's for a quick sandwich for the first time. Ordered my food, line of 5-6 people behind me, all got their food before me. I only ordered a Panini. After being sat for 10 minutes waiting, the staff then proceeded to ask me again what my order was and then began to cook it. The staff seemed reluctant in all stages of service and were not very welcoming. Finally upon receiving my food the bacon was burnt which completely detracted from the meal as a whole. Would not recommend. Over-priced and not good value for money.

Popped in here to pick up something for lunch. I bought a couple of filled roles for me and my wife. There was a good choice of breads so had one baguette and one soft roll. The sandwiches were made to order and were really well filled. I recommend this to anyone looking for breakfast or lunch sandwiches instead of making your own. Definitely excellent value for money. Decor was bright and fresh and as this sandwich bar has only been open a year or so I don't understand what the bad reviewer was moaning about. Must have had one too many the night before and been confused about what was.what.

Not the first time i've been here for my lunch and i must say every time i have been the ladies have been incredibly helpful and friendly. They have a huge menu choice as it always takes me some time to choose - i settled for a tuna panini today and it was incredible .... so ladies thank you... i will be back

I grew up around here and its certainly changed since my first visit back for many years. Gone are the business around this shop and now the eye hospital next door has closed down I would reckon these people are struggling. We went in about 9.30 am. They are supposed to be open at 8am but it looked liked both people had just crawled out of bed. I had a bacon and egg roll which I have to say was pathetic. It was something like about 3 quid, and the roll was almost certainly one bought from Aldi in a big pack for about a quid. The premises are clean-ish but they really need to buy a new extractor fan as the bacon smell smacks you in the face as soon as you walk in, which cant be good for anyone who does not eat meat, and seeing as they are on the route to the University I would think this puts off a lot of students who would otherwise come in and buy something. I think the owners bought this shop from whoever used to run it after it was converted from a happy shopper corner shop, and they haven't really changed anything apart from showing everyone what terrible taste they have in colours! The colour scheme really is harsh on the eye and put me off sticking around. When this place first opened, maybe about 10 years ago or something, it was quite good but now its "old hat", nothing special and would suggest the owners either just give up or have a revamp to attract people there again. Could do better, much better, and not worth the journey to buy anything there.

Called in for a takeaway bacon sandwich, while I was waiting for the sandwich to be prepared I had time to look around, very bright colours everywhere which are not offensive just a bit different, but I wasn't impressed by the state of the fish tank, it was dirty and full of full of green algae, so much so that you could hardly see the 2 poor fish swimming around the tiny tank, It made we wonder what the hygiene standards are like in the preparation area and rooms we couldn't see !, going back to the sandwich, the bread tasted as if it was bordering on being out of date and was very bland. Gone down hill since I last visited (when the previous lady had it as TJ's), plenty of better sandwich bars around in my opinion.

Had a chicken tikka baguette and fresh coffee. Beautifully made, fresh bread and ingredients - friendly staff - would return

Really lovely staff, and their sandwiches are realllllly good. Please keep it up, you're my 'Go To' sandwich shop when i really need something good to eat!

Does the usual daytime snack inc sandwiches and baguettes. Bit more room inside than many places. Polite efficient staff. Nothing stands out except the colour scheme.

Strange decor but pleasant little cafe sandwich snack bar on corner of busy junction. Useful if visiting cemetery.

Used to be TJ's and always had and still has a steady trade. Friendly. Several tables inside. Suffers a bit from parking shortage and closure of adjacent Royal Eye Infirmary. Still attracts a lot of students.
