🚇 Mansion House 🍺 £6.50 Amstel The Williamson’s Tavern is located in Groveland Court, a short stroll from Cheapside, Watling Street, and Bow Lane in the City of London. The nearest Tube station is Mansion House. The original pub on this site dates to the 17th Century, not long after the Great Fire of London. The site became the address of the new Mayor of London but by 1739 the building was not thought to be grand enough for the Mayor and it was sold to Robert Williamson for conversion into a hotel. The pub you see today was built in the 1930’s. This is a two bar pub that is traditionally decorated which although built in the 1930’s, this pub has an old world feel to it. The front bar is a good size, is dimly lit and has a curved servery on the left. The decor consists of lots of dark wood, ceiling beams, a mix of seating and an ornate fireplace. The bar at the back is quite spacious and feels a lot brighter and is predominantly used for dining. There is also a function room downstairs, outside there are a few tables and chairs opposite the now closed Four Sisters cocktail bar. This Nicholson’s pub offers a good selection of beers which included four cask ales. I kept it simple and ordered an Amstel, my pint was great, price was above average. The food menu is traditional pub classics, Fish & Chips costs £18.50. I arrived at 12pm on a chilly Thursday lunchtime in February. The pub was initially quiet but soon filled up with City workers hankering after a bit of lunch and a few lunchtime liveners. The atmosphere was upbeat, there was a nice buzz in both bars. The service was excellent, I had a nice little chat with one of the team who was welcoming, friendly and an all round nice chap. The Williamson’s Tavern was an enjoyable City pub experience. The location is historic and atmospheric, the decor and ambience creates an inviting setting to spend time in, the beer wasn’t overly priced and the service is personable. Lovely intimate venue! We hosted a networking event here, yesterday, and it was fantastic! The venue sectioned off the bar for 20 of us and we stayed from 12:30-5:30. Everyone ordered their individually food at the bar to ensure no complications with the bill and the food pretty much came out all together. The staff were all very accomdating! I'll definitely be back!

If you are looking for an autentique British pub experience you need to come to this pub. Fantastic atmosphere and amazing food. On the top of this the service was 5*. Will be back for sure.

Beautiful historic pub in a small alleyway off Bow Lane, close to St Paul's Cathedral. Visited while on holiday, around Christmas time and, needless to say, the pub looked absolutely magical with all the decorations and lights. Great atmosphere, very welcoming, cosy and with lots of character! Lovely staff - super friendly and attentive; especially Liliana who always had a smile for us and made sure we had the most amazing experience. The food was superb and served promptly. I'll be visiting again whenever I'm in London!

Historic pub tucked away off bowlane. Check out the gates , gifted from William 3rd and queen Mary. Lunch meal and drink deals ( alcoholic and nonalcoholic) Steak sandwich with Nicholsons pale ale ( or 3!!) Went down a treat. Ordered food at the bar and a waiter served us at the table . Can set up a bar/food tab . Clean , friendly staff and quick service. Recommended.

Even though the fire was Netflix finest it was a warm and cosy place.

During Christmas week, while closed for four days, Williamson's Tavern left their fryer fan running, blasting over 70 decibels into the alley. The constant noise made it impossible to sleep or enjoy our hotel stay. This blatant disregard for their neighbors—especially during the holidays—is appalling. Our hotel manager even called Williamson's GM to request they turn it off, but no one showed up. Turning off the fan while closed would have been a simple act of courtesy. I wouldn’t eat here.

This is a great pub in the city of London, which oozes with history and authenticity. There are multiple standing and seating areas and they serve a great range of modern and traditional ales. The Williamson's Taverns pies are legendary and was the main reason I visited and they did not disappoint, with a lovely crust and meaty filling. I loved this pub and highly recommend if you want a traditional atmosphere, beer and food.

Riley was very attentive and poured a brilliant pint, wish he was working every time I come in!

What a fantastic finding this pub was! Hidden in an alley, this is the perfect spot both for a meal or for drinks post work. They have an amazing lunch deal on sandwich+drink running until 4pm, and the food is always soo good that keeps me coming back. From the service to the atmosphere, it's just a great place. This is a great Pub off the beaten track down a little alleyway off Bow Lane. Marlon the Manageress is so warmly accommodating. The food is lovely here. Never had a bad experience & visit many times due to close proximity of the Office.

I had a great time at The Williamson’s Tavern! The bar has a really nice ambience, perfect for unwinding after work. Maria, the bartender was fantastic – super friendly. Overall, it was a really good experience. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Thankfully Nicholson's haven't messed around with this old City boozer. These old backstreet pubs are increasingly rare, so we should treasure them else we will lose them forever.

Today I stumbled into Williamsons tavern and the service I received was exceptional. A young man called Zach severed me and went above and beyond explaining the food menu and the various offers they had at the time. Exceptional.

One star for food as I haven't had any here but the prices are quite dear. Great choice of beers, ales and ciders as well as other drinks. Always a seat available. Superb staff.

Visited for lunch. Had the lunchtime deal(check on the bar for the menu). Sandwich(big sandwich!)plus georgous triple cooked chips plus a drink included. All for around £12! Food was excellent. Fantastic value. Friendly staff. Recommended.

Regular here at lunchtimes. Fantastic hospitality from Liliana and crew, a true hidden gem off the cobbles of Bow Lane. Special mention to the food and the lunchtime meal deal, absolutely superb!

Visited last week and, had bad experience, rude and unwelcoming staff. Slow service too. Only saving grace was that the food was pretty good.

Alleyway London grand tavern with great heritage & a place in history. Hidden in a narrow City of London alley this tavern 🍺 is intriguing. Superb alleyway drinking space with a long tavern interior in two halls. Bevel glazed square window panels with ornate wood coving stretch through to the second hall with an intensely decorative papered finish on the ceiling. Vintage feel decorative art, mirrors & fabulous wooden period fireplaces. The half moon 🌙 bar reaches through the tavernesque room, with a decorative wood back bar & quirky old age features like the 'Waitresses Only' inlaid wood top on the bar swing door. There's a fantastic, historic back story posted in the wall from the home of Lord Mayor's to the City Livalry Club, a hotel, Roman tiles & a ghost story for Saturday nights, although it's too noisy to hear ghostly movements. This is an interesting place of history with all the right features & character to preserve the heritage.

The food is totally delicious and the atmosphere is top. I am so happy about it cos we just ordered something random. The pie is a must try when you visit there. The waiter is enthusiastic to work and friendly. Totally happy to get a random chance to visit this place

Lovely pub, has become the work local for myself and my colleagues over the past couple of years. Friendly staff, enough seating/standing space even when busy. Heaters and a few tables outside which is rare in this part of London

On a visit to London, I went to a fantastic pub. Epic atmosphere, super welcoming. I want to thank the chefs as the food was fantastic and delicious. The service from Adam and João was incredible, they were very attentive. We will definitely be back soon! I recommend!!!

Had a Christmas lunch party with friends of the industry and even if it was really busy given the time of the year the staff was amazing making sure we were having a great experience!

A lovely traditional pub with great atmosphere. Spend some time to read the articles on the walls around the bar and you’ll appreciate the significant history to the venue and area too. There’s a nice enough range of drinks on tap, prices are reasonable for the area and there’s a decently priced lunch menu. While located in a bit of an alleyway there’s a small amount of seating outside and with the friendly staff I’d certainly return.

We were in London to see the city in Christmas and we stopped in this Pub to rest and enjoy a little …and was a perfect choice. Delicious Food with a great taste, the best we eat in our trip. And for complete , a great service from two nice guys , Joao and Adam. When we go Back to London, we will return for sure
