Williams Fish Bar in Kettering

Definitely the worst chips I’ve ever had. I had to wait for them to cook and they had obviously been cooked in old oil as very dark, extremely chewy and the majority were inedible and went in the bin. Absolute waste of money and won’t be going back.

We bought our tea of chips pie fish cakes and sausage the chips were uneatable the pie was cold fish cakes and sausage were just eatable we will not be ordering again.

I was very disappointed with my trip here. The fish looked big enough (until I got it home and discovered it was wafer thin),the chips were frozen chips i expect proper potato chips from a shop. I have frozen chips at home. Sorry never again

Very disappointing, wrong order received first contacted shop and correct burger sent by which time chips stone cold, mozzarella sticks hard and cheese all coming out so stuck to the paper, whole order was awful. Food hub contacted shop who woul not allow a refund! Poor service

Ordered our food online at 4.15pm. Didn’t arrive until 5.40pm. Was cold, mushy peas tasted like water and the chips were all the scraps

Chips were good. Cod okay but very very cold, think it had been sat drying out since lunchtime. But the sausage was truly fowl, very synthetic tasting and terribly dry. Had to bin it after 1 mouthful.

I ordered for collection go to collect and they call when I'm nearly home, 'come back we forget to pack your fish' go back to collect. Get home discover they have missed sausage and pie off aswell, go back down to finally get my order after 3 journeys, no sorry! Nothing. Cold food. Won't be coming back.

Possibly the worst chips I’ve ever eaten I had to throw 90% of them away and for £2 for a small chips I expected a lot better

This is the first and last time I order food from here. Although delivered in good time, I have never seen so many bad chips in two portions ever in my life!! At least every other chip had a massive bad bit. I wish I could upload a picture!!

Always go here for their gluten free fish- always served with a smile too- batter is very tasty and crispy.

Would rate this the best chippy in Rothwell. Reasonable prices and the fish is nice and crispy!

The gents in here are friendly BUT everytime I go here I am waiting an awfully long time for my food, surely chips should always be ready at a chip shop? Last time I visited I was charged for my order (chips, sausage and curry sauce) and due to the fact they were making loads of orders at once forgot to put the sausage in despite taking the money!! The food is nice but the service lets it down I am afraid.

Quick and friendly service, prices are pretty average, quality seems to have improved recently, but this will still be my second choice of chippy in Rothwell.

Fish is beautifully cooked nice non greasy batter...BUT the so called chips was not nice at all they wasn't even chips more like left overs from lunchtime which was also hard they went in the bin happened a few times

By far the best fish & chips shop in the area! We usually order chips, which are always hot, fried in fresh oil (separate from the fish) and the portions are very generous! & The fish (both cod or haddock) is also always fresh and surrounded by the most crispy, delicious batter! (Not soggy like in other chippies) Round it off with their incredible home-made sauce tartare and you’re in for a treat you won’t forget! Besides that, their service is absolutely great! Super friendly, easy to talk to and reliable to give you a phone call, if you wish, to let you know when exactly your food will be ready for takeaway, yo ensure the highest quality! Everyone of our friends, who went there based on our recommendation, was so happy, they’re now driving all the way from Corby or Kettering town to enjoy what William’s has to offer! No photo as we simply cannot wait that long to start enjoying our food! We will be back soon!

Very tasty chips and lovleh battered sausage

Ordered food for delivery at 20.10 this was at 18.20. Rang at 20.20 to be told it was on its way, did not even ask who I was or where it was being delivered to... 20.45 my husband rings and its just around the corner, 5 minutes later food comes flat cold. So sent it back just waiting on refund...

Huge portions of steaming hot, tasty chips and a battered sausage which was very tasty. Nice staff, very friendly. I would make a good detour to visit again.

Just got large fish and chip and chick mushroom pie. Fish was terrible. Overcooked, too much batter snd for the price I paid, it was not a large fish but a mashed up small fish... very oily not good at all....not worth Over £10

Absolutely the worst chip shop food I have EVER eaten! Had a takeaway and the chips were barely cooked! Basically it was like eating potato chunks covered in oil! Normally you eat the chips and are left with crispy bits, the crispy bits were soggy horrible bits! Terrible and 3 meals went straight in the bin !

Not sure when a chip shop stopped doing a battered burger? Called up in stead if just eat told no we dont do it .. how ever go in .. in person it's done 🤷‍♀️ never mind money will go else where shame as I've always loved the food ect

Used this a couple of times for lunch with the lads at work. Nice chips but being told we can't have a drink with the meal deal because it's cheap is not on, ripped off.

Made fresh to order fish and chips. Lots on the menu if you like something different, but why. Not far from the highway and easy to find. Parking very close by.

Just as a previous review, sent a replacement without even bothering to contact us to see what we would like. When we contacted them the answer was we were to busy to contact you. well we will be to busy in the future to order again they have just lost a regular customer.

Rude staff, items were changed without any notification, when I called they were extremely rude and unhelpful. Will not be ordering again.

Went in on a Thursday night. Asked for 4 x cod and chips with 3 mushy peas and 2 x curry sauce. The guy said I couldn't have both, only one or the other... Don't run a "traditional" fish and chip shop if you're not willing to make curry sauce. Why bother putting it on the menu.

Avoid on Fridays. Twice now they have missed half the order. You can never get hold of them on the phone to sort it out. Just avoid and use somewhere else.

Really nice fish and chips, freshly prepared. Batter was nice and light and crispy.

Ordered two large cod and chips to be delivered, fast delivery but the chips had obviously been cooked ages before as they were only warm and almost inedible, the fish was ok but the batter was so soft and greasy it ended up in the bin . When I ordered I asked if they would be freshly cooked and was assured that they would be, but obviously it wasn’t. Obviously I won’t be using again.

Horrible food , packaging is nice tho but ordered today through just eat , I got the chicken and mushroom pie which I thought was a safe option 1st bite was grizzle , my man got a half pounder with sauce when I didn't want sauce. The burger was also grizzle. Chips were meh the sausages were good just sad to spend money and not get the quality very disappointed

Best fish and chips around this area. Great customer service, friendly and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and this is my new chip shop of choice!

Absolutely lovely Fish & Chips!! Everything is cooked to order, the batter is crispy, the chips flavourful and fluffy on the inside with a crisp outside, prices are cheap as chips, yet the portions are giant! Staff are friendly and you're served quickly and all of the visible safety measures in the current climate are in place. I cannot fault these guys, and as an avid lover of fish and chips I'm extremely lucky to have just moved in down the road (though my wallet and gut may disagree 😂)!

After a dreadful experience down the road in Rothwell - waited an hour for food that was not even cooked - we were starving and descended on this chippy. Lovely well cooked and hot food. We will be back for more.

Not great.. Chips undercooked and fish was almost the size of a fish finger.. Rather expensive. Not for me I'm afraid.

Just excellent food and great value for money.

Fantastic fish and chips, we use regularly and never had a bad meal. Fast delivery and take card payment are an added bonus as means we no longer have to leave the house to get dinner.

Gets the full monty, star wise. Order online, by phone or in person, it's all just as efficient. Dedicated fryer for chips and gluten free batter for the fish makes this risk free for Coeliacs too. Oh, and the batter is spot on too. Wonderful. 😊

I ordered and collected last week and it was good but I ordered for delivery this week and it was horrendous! I ordered 2 normal fish and 1 gluten free fish and there was no indication to which was gluten free. I called up and I was told they’d send me another fish but I’d have to pay! They said it’s not their problem because I didn’t state when I did! And the lady read my order back to be she even said GF fish... also when you collect you get loads of chips but we got barely any with a large chips order. THEN when my second fish was finally delivered it was tiny when I asked for a large. Incredibly disappointed and angered. If you are going to state that you cater for allergies then do it properly and don’t make the customer feel like it’s their fault! Truly my worst experience since discovering my illness. Not to mention the drink we ordered never arrived.

I’m staying in the local town of Loddington. Fancied a fish and chips so trotted off to Rothwell. Well it was a treat. I had a chicken and chips and the chips in particular were exceptional, not sure how they were cooked but they were...

Ideal if you looking for poor service. No chips ready but was not told till after money taken. Some Chips were cut about 6-8 inch long, because must have rushed when chips served they were still hard. The shop was more interested in getting my spare change more than anything else. I was amazed to see the portion size which I considered very poor in size and quality. Very disappointing experience, will not go again. Went to this shop as the other one was quite full and didnt want to wait. Now I know why this one was empty

I think it's changed its name recently so hopefully I'm getting this right, it's the one on the same side of the road as the Coop. Anyway, superb food and extremely friendly staff. Had a lovely chat whilst they cooked our food fresh and they gave us some chips to nibble on whilst we waited! We've already been back since, would highly recommend.

Fish and chips overly greasy, mince beef pie was warm on the outside and stone cold in the middle, mushy peas were also cold overall awful food and a waste of money will not be returning

Food is ok. Service is dreadful. Prices are hideous. All in I would only recommend if the only alternative is the motorway services.

I've tried them a few times and they serve the best fish and chips ever! The cod goujons scampi and king prawns in batter are delicious. The chips and fish batter are crispy and not soggy like normal fish and chips. Will never go anywhere else.......
