Friendly pub a few minutes walk from the Wallace monument. 2 wines for under £9 good value for Stirling. Lovely strong smell of bleach as we walked in .

We chose this pub based on so many postivie Trip Advisor ratings. Not sure why our experience was so different! The barkeep was not welcoming at all, he didn't mention that it was cash-only until after our pints were poured (luckily we had enough cash) and when we mentioned we wanted to eat, he curtly told us no food was available. We finished our pints and left quickly, headed to a much more friendly pub that our b&b host recommended. Should have listened to him in the first place.

Spent a night in Stirling on our way to Aviemore. After a long drive, we felt like a walk would benefit us and, stumbling on this gem of a pub, we decided we did indeed need a drink! First impressions were that it was full of locals who knew each other and we felt, for a split second, intimidated. We needed have - fantastically friendly bar lady and equally warm landlord, combined with ultra friendly locals, made for a fantastic hour. Felt like friends with everyone by the time we left an hour later! Highly recommend.

Traditional Scottish pub. Friendly, elderly locals in one corner. Friendly barmaid. They do not serve food on a Sunday evening, but we were told we could get fish and chips a couple of doors away and bring them into the bar. The barmaid then provided us with knives and forks. This deserves five stars for thoughtfulness.

I had the steak pie which was good but wished I'd had the macaroni cheese. Someone else at my table did and it was VERY good! Staff worked hard to keep us happy even though they were pretty busy with rather a lot of people watching the footie and keeping them busy behind the bar.Only negative - the burger sounded a LOT better from the description than it actually was. It's so easy to make a burger but this was processed and not good. We wouldn't order that again.

Friend of mine and our two sons are staying in the Stirling area and wanted to grab a decent bite to eat, we didn't find it there. Kitchen closes as 6:00, so we rushed the order, 3 of us ordered the steak pies and they only had one left. We substituted burgers instead as we were rushed for the order. "Burger" was a bad version of a Salisbury steak. When I walk out of a place and say I should have had the haggis you know it's not a good meal.

We were served by a lovely bartender Natalie, who (besides being excellent at the bar job) made a list of clubs and pubs me and my companion should visit while in Stirling. She was more like a positive tourist guide, than a bartender.Later we got the chance to change some thoughts with the owner (Robert) of the place and even though he was not as informational about the nightlife, we got a good insight to the local life from other aspects. We didn't get any food, because the kitchen closed about 10PM (I think), but the atmosphere was awesome! My best pub experience so far!

We popped in here for lunch while passing for the first time and were glad we did. The service was good, very quick and efficient, staff were very friendly. There is a good selection on the menu and even a dog menu, which our dogs loved! The soup was delicious and toasties were tasty but a little burnt around the sides so we couldn't even bite into some of them. They have no disabled parking which is disappointing. We will definitely pop in again if passing!

A very poor experience in terms of food quality and service. It certainly didn't live up to it's claim of "equisite dining"...where we would.."Indulge in a culinary journey".(unless the destination was mediocrity). We were there as a group of about 14 in a private room for the xmas menu and we had eaten here the previous year also, when the food was OK, but not great. This year it was much poorer. The scallops were absolutely tiny! The cod was NOT cod, not sure what it was but as someone who has worked in the UK fish industry for many years, it was most definitely not cod. The same happened last year when it was a bass or bream fillet (also called "cod" on the menu) but was quite tasty so I didn't mind so much then. This time it was a fish with quite soft and tasteless flesh. We had to chase some drinks orders several times as they didn't appear, sometimes eventually turning up after about 20 minutes. The sticky toffee pudding was on freezing cold plates, which made the sauce cold and sponge barely warm...just about room temperature. One sticky toffee pudding that was ordered with vegan ice cream didn't appear until we had chased it a couple if times and everyone else had finished. We won't be back next year. Perhaps we should have complained more at the time, but it's supposed to be a fun time, not one when as well as chasing food and drinks, we have to moan about everything and kill the atmosphere.
