Another brilliant meal and experience with friends courtesy of Nik the Greek, his lovely wife and excellent staff!!! From the time you walk through the door you are met with a lovely friendly welcome, everyone is treated as an individual even when they are very busy and the choice of drinks and quality of every dish from starter to dessert is excellent. I would recommend for all ages, even young children are welcomed and catered for and the premises are spotlessly clean. We have also dropped in just for mere and drinks on previous occasions as well as in the evening and our experience has been just as good. Looking forward to our next visit, very soon

6 of us went for a fathers day meal and it was beautiful as usual . Cant fault anything and the service was excellent. Cant wait to go back

Got a takeaway as staying a few doors down. We ordered beef stifado and lamb kleftiko, as well as pitta breads and dips and baklava for dessert. It was all fabulous , as was the welcome when I went to collect it. Just wonderful. If we were staying longer we’d be back!

I had the lamb in parchment paper - huge chunks of tender lamb, rosemary roast potatoes and salad which was an excellent choice. A couple had the chicken kebabs, with fresh chips, pita and salad. Another couple had the 5 meze deal. All the food was beautiful. Pity it’s not nearer home!!

A fantastic visit from beginning to end. Rang and booked a table last minute, they were able to accommodate us, if you know you are visiting book ahead. Food absolutely amazing! Fresh, flavoursome and plentiful. 5 mezze dishes and a Greek salad was a very hearty meal for two, however, it was so delicious we ate every morsel! Service was excellent. All staff were attentive and couldn't do more to help us, thank you to the whole team. An added bonus was a trip to the shop next door for some take home goodies, wine, beer, cheeses...all very good value. Would definitely recommend to others. We are already planning our next visit!

We tried to book a table for 3 days and they always say too busy. But when you walk in at 6,55pm it’s completely empty. They would not even try to accommodate a table of 3. And when you leave a message booking a table, they do not call you back

Had a wonderful meal here last night. Doesn’t look much from the outside and basic furnishings inside. However…… The food was amazing!! 2 of us had the stuffed tomatoes (apologies accepted that it would be peppers as had run out of tomatoes). Stuffed with delicious rice mix with crispy, crunchy potatoes. The veggie moussaka with garlic bread was a major hit. The 4th person had the ribs, which was a huge plate and sticky and perfectly cooked! The Greek Salad with their own Feta was both generous in size and taste. Lovely Greek beers and wines. The service was so friendly it felt like we were old friends. The Deli is a treasure trove of home made and hard to find goodies. Will most definitely return again and again.

I went to Whitford's for dinner last night with my family. It was my first visit and certainly not my last. The food was DELICIOUS with plenty of choice. The service was excellent. The waiters know their menu very well and are very happy to tell you more about the dishes on the menu. They also have a little shop, where you can buy the wine and beer served at the bar (which I did!) The people who run this restaurant are clearly very passionate about Greek food, and their enthusiasm is contagious. We had our seven-year-old with us, and they make children feel very welcome. Highly recommended. (Please note: this restaurant is also known as "Nik the Greek").

Name of restaurant on sign is Nik the Greek. Home cooked Greek food, all tasty and fresh. Huge choice of dishes. Greek beer to wash it down and a bit of cake from their deli to take home for later ( be warned,the portions are generous ). Staff are friendly and helpful. Worth booking for evenings as busy.

A very welcome oasis of excellent food and warm welcome on our way back to Devon. Late in the day for lunch, we were starving and found this wonderful place by chance. Ordered takeaway as had a sleeping baby in the car. Warned that all main meals are made fresh from scratch and take a bit of time so settled for a mezze of dips and halloumi wraps with two pieces of orange cake. All delivered to our car with a smile and explanation of what was in our beautifully packed take away. The food was absolutely delicious and very good value. We will be back in November when visiting Penclawdd based family again and will have a sit in meal to experience the deliciousness of the full menu. The deli is wonderful too and even had vegan and soya free Greek cheese! Thank you Nick and chef, you made our day!

We were passing through on holiday and had misjudged our journey so at 3.30 we were starving for a late lunch, our expectations were low… but we received a warm friendly welcome, and we ordered a selection of meze. Everything was delicious, super freshly made and a genuine taste of Greece. If we’re ever in the area again this will be top of the list. Thanks Nik

We arrived tired and hungry on our bikes and were delighted to find this gem of a restaurant/ takeaway. We ordered a meze box, souvlaki and halloumi wraps to eat looking out onto the harbour. The meze was crammed with delicious, authentic treats - we especially loved the spinach pie - and the wraps were fab. And all for a great price.

3rd time here and it just gets better. 6 adults and 2 little ones, all welcomed by the great staff. The mazes were superb and excellent value. The child meal was incredible, plenty of it and a scoop of ice cream to follow. We have previously visited as a couple and stayed overnight, and the room was really good too. There is a deli attached where we bought a number of Greek food and drink items. Easily one of the best places to eat in West Wales!

The food was delicious, huge portions and fair prices. A lovely little restaurant serving Greek food which is uncommon round here, will recommend to everyone. The staff were great and it's family friendly. Will definitely be going back, so glad I could take my left overs home too!

Had a surprisingly excellent meal there with my family...The Greek themed establishment was a nice break from the normal quiet seaside eatery amd pub. The staff were amazingly upbeat and so very helpful. Would recommend at least one meal in here if you're anywhere near it. A hidden gem on the coast of South Wales. Access to rail is less than a minute way from the small semi rural train station and the quiet town of Burryport is an under-rated destination for a quiet, out of the way place to eat and drink.

I love visiting The Whitfirds and have taken a room here in the past as well. They were lovely and Clean before Covid 19 so I'm sure their standards are even better. The food here is gorgeous and every meal brought out from the kitchen looks inviting and huge! Lol. I have to eat alone alot , now, as Singie , again! Lol , but The Whitford always places me, near another , table, just in case, I want to talk to, someone! This hotel is the best in Burry Port and Pembrey. We went here because we heard it was good. We were not disappointed. The service was good, I especially like calamari, this was to die for, when that is as good as it was, you knew everything else was going to be great. I will definitely go there again. Yes it is a bit pricey, you pay for what you get.

Popped in for lunch with my mother today on a whim and we’re both really glad we did. We received a warm and friendly welcome on arrival and excellent service throughout. Beautiful and tasty meze and portions were plentiful. The desserts were also exceptional. Good selection of quality wines. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We didn’t take our dogs in but were told they were welcome. We will definitely be returning. Such a gem of a find and nice to try some different cuisine to the usual pub style food found at most places in the area.

My daughter and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice lunch out and as always Whitford’s didn’t let us down! Always a warm friendly welcome and today was no different. It’s a lovely relaxed atmosphere with really excellent service and brilliant food choices, we were really spoilt for choice. I would thoroughly recommend Whitford’s for groups, couples and families, whether you want a quick snack, leisure lunch evening out or just a coffee ( or something stronger) Also lookout for their special themed nights-today being valentine day we were absolutely over the moon to receive a red rose each- what a lovely and unexpected touch. The staff are amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and excellent service too!

For a first visit, really enjoyed Greek Night special, lovely food, lovely atmosphere. Friends we were with had been several times before so we hoped it lived up to expectations and it did. Only down side, bottle of red wine £29.50 expensive, should have asked price before ordering!

Worst Meal ever over priced definitely won't go back. Not a patch on how it used to be. Meal just plonked in front of us not asked how it was and awful service.

I booked a table today and before going into the restaurant there was an advertisement that said you get a complimentary dessert when you order 2 main meals. My mum and I decided to go for this offer. When we went to pay the bill we were charged for 1 of our 2 desserts, I queried this and the person serving said that the offer was only for 1 free dessert and not 2 when purchasing 2 main meals. My mum and I expected a complimentary dessert for each of us. The food was really nice however I feel the restaurant should have advertised their special offer more clearly as it was quite confusing. My mum wasn't really fussed on having a dessert and only had one because she thought it was complimentary through the offer. I would come again as the food was really nice, the restaurant in my opinion just need to be careful with the wording of their special offers so people aren't mislead.

Whitford's is a really special Hotel in Burry Port .The Italian Owner , Nick, speaks excellent English, and the food on his extensive Menu, is always very tasty and fairly priced x !Everything is home made and you can taste the difference , if you eat out as much as this Reviewer, now does !I've recently, become Single, again, and wealthier again !, Therefore, I don't , have to cook, for a husband, or myself , anymore ! Lol x I'm very happy, to let others feed me ! Basic over night stay. Clean and comfortable room. Quirky atmosphere. Excellent location. Value for money. Did the job but wasn’t the high standard I was expecting!

Had a great surprise with some traditional Greek dishes on the menu as well as numerous other options. Flavours spot on. Would definitely recommend a visit.

This was our first visit to Whitford’s and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Superb food with a menu that appealed to all of our party so much that we all decided to order something different so that we could sample each other’s. Plenty of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians and the desserts are sumptuously good. A warm greeting and welcome by the owner as soon as we arrived continued throughout our meal and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent choice of drinks, so many types of gin that will make choosing just one to try very difficult and the Greek lager was particularly good and even had a seasoned beer drinker enjoying a lager (or two) with his meal. They even made our night even more special when they not only sung happy birthday to my daughter but the chef also came out with a candle in her dessert. Can not fault the service and am eagerly looking forward to our next visit very soon.

At the end of September ,we visited Whitfords for their Greek Meze night. Last Friday we tried their Spanish/Italian Tapas night. The food on both nights was excellent, with a wide variety of choice. The staff were very attentive, explaining what the different dishes were. We look forward to another one of the evenings/

13 of us for a 60th afternoon team, lovely food, a great assortment of sandwiches and fabulous cakes. The scones were warm, light and fluffy and the lemon mousee mmmm. Ample tea and coffee. The owner is so friendly and the staff were very accomodating. I would highly recommend this place

Enjoyed a lovely fresh cooked breakfast. Bacon was especially good. Nice coffee too and all at sensible prices with friendly service.

Whitford's has a lovely atmosphere and the owner and staff are friendly and keen to help. On this particular visit, we had breakfast which was served piping hot and was delicious. I have no hesitation in recommending Whitford's as a good place to visit for either a snack, coffee or meal.

We visited today lamb dinner usually very nice but gravy was like water and broccoli rock hard, the owner is great replace my meal with chicken goujons and fries which I enjoyed,. Deserts look beautiful but couldn't eat one, a lovely place to eat and staff are very good, see you soon

The Whitfords is a lovely place. The staff always welcome you with a warm smile. The food has always been good. They are very flexible and allowed us to pick food for my 4 year old son from the main menu as a smaller portion. The wine is great. Relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend to families, couples and anyone just wanting a coffee stop. Lovely place to stop if you are cycling on the coastal path too.

Have visited a few times, usually when there is a Greek night or a Turkish night, and never been disappointed. So decided to eat here on Saturday to celebrate my birthday. Restaurant was fairly busy, but this didn’t stop the attentiveness. I had the scotch egg starter, which was beautifully presented and piping hot, followed by the pork. Again this was delicious. My friends had the mushroom starters, followed by the lamb shank and chicken. Both enjoyed their meal. Puddings were to die for. Very enjoyable evening, with very good food. Thank you Nic & staff

Booked last minute this evening as only restaurant in area that could fit us in. On reflection, I now know why!!

Booked a table here after reading the good reviews but it must have been an "off" night we chose. Saturday night 6.00pm We entered to be greeted with what appeared to be a hen party drinking heavily and loudly in one corner and heavy rock music playing?? We should have gone with our instincts and left there and then! We were shown to a table in the middle of the restaurant and offered iced water. We had to ask that the adjacent window be closed as there was a cold draught.This was done immediately. The raucous laughter and loud rock music from the hen party pervaded the whole restaurant and ruined any ambiance the whole time we were there (1 hour).. We chose mixed breads, olives and balsamic/olive oil to start and 2 glasses of merlot. The starter was lovely and presented well. Main courses were Lamb shank for me and Chicken in mushroom sauce for my partner. Horrrible. The lamb meal was tasteless and swimming in a greasy red sauce/gravy. The chicken came swimming in a diluted butter sauce with a few mushrooms in it and again, tasteless. My partner is not a lover of butter sauces and could not eat her meal. When this was brought to the attention of the staff we had an apology but nothing done about it. We paid our bill (£44) and left. We will NOT be returning to "Whitfords Cafe Bar".

This is doubtless the leading restaurant in Burry Port, and we wanted it to be good. And the food was pretty good without being special. Service and attention was very good. The let down was the furniture and general feel of the place - rather average.

Food is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. Hot food is served piping hot and the menu is varied to suit taste and price. The new management are working hard to make it successful. I highly recommend a visit.

Here you ger fresh local food. But not only this.... you also get a smile. We were happy that our froend Peter showed us this place. Wonderful warm and friendly atmosphere. Always again!

Took our daughter who was visiting, for afternoon tea. We had to wait quite a while for it to arrive, but was well worth the wait! Very delicious and generous portions with endless tea or coffee. Will definitely revisit!

From the moment we walked we were looked after by very pleasant, helpful staff. We ordered a variety of meals and these were served promptly. The staff made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The table was cleared promptly . An enjoyable experience.

Nick and his team provided a warm welcome, care and compassion after a difficult morning. The food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to Nick and the team, for making a difficult day bearable.

Came in this cafe one day last week and left disgusted, I ordered what I thought was cawl to be given a bowl full of fatty beef and potato with oil coating the side of the bowl. There wasn’t any veg in it at all. I wouldn’t even feed this to a dog let alone serve it to a paying customer. I will not be returning.

Now with a relaxing lounge for pre-meal drinks, the Sunday lunch is as good as ever but with an even improved vegetarian option. The Nut Roast was excellent and the Vegetable Wellington offered something not readily available - a choice of vegetarian main meals (with a vegan alternative also available). Bendigedig!

We thoroughly enjoyed a three course Christmas meal, the food was plentiful, home cooked, tasty with delicious vegetarian options. The atmosphere was welcoming, cosy and festive. Great service from all of the staff, highly recommend and will certainly return.

We arrived a little late for breakfast on a Sunday but were still served and the breakfast was very good, Very friendly waiter/manager who told us about the business and showed us the Sunday Lunch menu which looked lovely. Would highly recommend.

Simply the best Sunday roast, we had the slow roast beef which was exceptional. Lovely environment very friendly welcoming staff who were obviously passionate about there work. Highly recommend best in the area.

My wife and I called in without booking on a Saturday lunchtime and the very friendly staff accommodated us straight away.

Have eaten here a couple of times for Sunday lunch and evening meals. The menu is small but offers meat, fish and salads. The Sunday lunch was excellent. I also enjoyed the mackerel and beetroot salad which they did for me as a main course. The cakes are wonderful and everyone is very friendly and helpful.

We called in without a booking on a busy Sunday but the staff found and laid a table for us.

Booked a table here for our final meal out after a week of traveling the beaches and coast of Wales. Great communication via email over the dietary needs of 2 of the family. When we arrived in town we were excited over the cleanliness and decor of the place that we would be eating at the following night. When we arrived we were immediately informed that they had booked a large party in the main restaurant and we were seated at a table by the front door, ice cream freezer, coffee bar and dessert counter. We were completely separated from the actual dining room and it's lovely atmosphere. The food arrived quickly and the waitress was friendly and both attentive and apologetic over how busy they were. When the food arrived the 2 fish dishes that were ordered were amazing, the pasta dish was ok and the vegan curry wasn't anything to rave about. In the end what we got for £82 was unimpressive and we felt a little cheated at the poor seating. There were other meals on the trip for £40 less that were far more satisfying.

I stayed locally between 20th-24th and visited this cafe/restaurant/guest house a couple of times.

A delicious smoked mackerel on beetroot salad drizzled in balsamic! Whilst my friend thoroughly enjoyed the goats’ cheese tart with apple. To prolong the enjoyment chocolate orange cake and a torte were also devoured. Difficult to choose what to have. A lovely atmosphere and fabulous staff.

We booked afternoon tea for a birthday celebration - superb! A pleasant atmosphere, very friendly & attentive owners. The food was delicious - far too much food for three!, so we were given boxes to take our left over cakes home. Lovely!

I've been here a couple of times with friends on their specialty evenings ( Tapas & Meze) and the food was fabulous on each occasion. It's very informal and the atmosphere is very conjusive to much merriment! The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes they are serving. Can highly recommend, especially the fantastic selection of cake!

Just had the most horrendous stay at the Whitford hotel,

I come here quite regularly. I'm never really disappointed. The coffee is great. The breakfasts are great. The lunch is great. The dinner is great. The deserts.... beautiful. Service is always awesome and I feel so welcomed when I am there. Its family friendly. I would recommend booking a table if you want to go as it does fill up really quickly. They are only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Lunch boards change daily. And you must have a desert !

Visited for afternoon tea which was plentiful and absolutely delicious! There was a lovely selection of sandwiches and cake and as much tea as we could drink - we couldn't fault it. Will definitely return.

My wife and I called in here for breakfast last Sunday. I had the Welsh breakfast and my wife had Eggs benedict. We were one of four tables, served by two staff members, so the place wasn’t exactly busy. My Welsh breakfast was just a bog standard plate of bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns and beans, with toast and coffee. I asked for brown sauce, which was slow to arrive but eventually got there, and then after another request, the toast arrived. Apart from the rubbish service, the problem with both breakfasts was that bits of it were warm, and the other bits were cool. I still don’t know what specifically made this a Welsh breakfast, except it was in Burry Port. We won’t be back

We have just had a very pleasant evening meal at whitfords. We will definitely be going there again and we will also recommend it too. The staff were friendly.

Was staying in the area and popped in for lunch, what a lovely surprise to have such a nice welcome from Karen and staff. We were disappointed to see the shop was closed, but on enquiring she was happy to pop down and let us browse even though she was busy. Lunch was a real treat with lots of different choices snacks or mains, I chose beef stroganoff and my husband had chicken curry, both were lovely. We had to try the desserts as they looked so delicious and we were informed they were homemade, scrumptious. We were surprised to find they have accomodation and we will definitely be booking our next trip here. Well done whitfords.

Visited Whitfords tonight for an evening meal, and was blown away, the service was great and professional and the food was superb. I had the half roast red pepper stuffed with lentils for starter and it was so tasty, great flavour combinations. For main I had the chicken wrapped in Parma ham, so good I could have eaten it all over again. Chicken was really well cooked, the Anna potatoes so delicious and the sauce was just lovely. Very satisfied customers and will definitely be returning in the near future!

visited the Whitfords in 2017 where we had a beautiful afternoon tea which included small slices of the homemade cakes and sweets that they had made fresh. couldn't fault it.

My friend and I visited on 17 April for afternoon tea as a special treat.

Food was average, but to be fair it seemed to be 'home-made' and was fresh and nicely presented. The ambience mid-afternoon made for a comfortable experience, and the staff were very welcoming. It just lacked that something 'special' that would have given it the 5 stars rating. Would visit again.

I was really looking forward to having lunch here. We ordered soup, salmon salad, blt and coconut jam cake with custard. The soup was very thick but tasted ok. Salad was nice but the blt sandwich was extremely disappointing. The bread was far too thick and bacon tasteless. I expected far better quailty from this place. It was not up to standard. The cake was the best thing we had.
