Historic pub (heritage listed) with decent food and an excellent range of beers including Timothy Taylor:s Landlord and good stouts.

Always a great bolt-hole to visit in the heart of Leeds. Food superb, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere.

Called in for a beer this evening. Loved the wonderful decor. Feels like going back in time, in the best possible way. Great selection of beers, friendly bar staff, and a relaxed vibe

A really nice pub with interior dating back to 1715. We had great local beer and had a great time.

Went here 12/1 , 9 people in group.7 ordered Sunday roast & 2 fish and chips . All dinner were lovely hot and tasty no complaints at all . Staff were fabulous & attentive . We have now added it to one of our ‘go to places’ for our future reunions . Thank you guys well done .

Great atmosphere. Central location. Fantastic food & drink. Faultless service: we were served by a guy in his early 20s, curly hair, beard who had the balance just right: attentive and informative but never in your face (also very accommodating when some of our party were late). Top place!

Usually call in here when it's not busy. Otherwise, it's a nightmare inside around bar area. Sat outside under heaters. Good beer & nice Xmas atmosphere. It's a great pub.

This has to be a " must visit Pub " .The atmosphere is fantastic. The food divine. It gets busy around lunchtime. The filled Yorkshire puddings are very popular. Get there early!!!!

We all had the roast dinner which was absolutely beautiful and the nut roast was just as nice. Yorkshire puddings where mega. The staff were very professional- really tentative, quick service, you can tell they enjoy their jobs from how they came across, which is refreshing to see. The atmosphere was buzzing as always. Whitelocks is a true institution, i love a beer in there quite regularly, and as we found out an all round great choice for a Sunday lunch outing too👍🏼

Great ole proper tradional pub. Pity they don't accept good ole proper traditional money....The locals were very friendly which made for an excellent atmosphere. A must visit if you're in Leeds

Great place for a beer and chat

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch we found the Whitelocks pub, found our seat a table and ordered two chip butties. when they arrived we had a stack of chips between two slices of bread no butter the chips were made from un peeled potatoes and seemed to me to be a bit thick and over cooked, but that might be the way they make chip butties in Leeds. The pubs had a lot of character my wife said it felt like being in Coronation street with all the banter and local accents.

Lovely old pub, sat outside end of November as they have heat lamps which are on timers so mo energy wasted. Only had drinks but great.

Recommend as a great place for chunky chips and a pint 👌 A++++

Called in for a drink while in the city centre. It was recommended to us by a man in a near by shop. We only had a few drinks but would definitely come here to try the food from what we could see.

What a beauty! I've visited this bar for many years and it's not lost its appeal with new and old customers. Great draft beers, heated outside seating. Easily found from the precinct or for the ally at the side of Franco Manca near the rear exit of M&S. See my video!

This place is a gem . I wasn't sure about something on my meal and asked the bar tender about it. The chef actually sent out some for me to try before he put it on my plate which I thought was fantastic. I thought service like this was dead .I can't wait to visit again the next time I am in Leeds .

An Iconic Legend in Leeds, I bring friends and family from the USA here when they are over, they love the tradition of an Old Pub. I come here often when in Leeds, with friends, my wife, couples or even solo, the staff are great and it is always nicely busy any time of the day. That tells you it's a good pub. The atmosphere is always a nice mixture of Iconic Drinkers who know their ales, young couples or groups, professionals, locals or anyone who wants to try it out. My Dad used to frequent here in WW2 when coming back to Leeds on leave and always loved it, it needs people to come in more often and keep it going. Keep one of the last few remaining " Old Town Pubs" open. A definite MUST for anyone coming into Leeds, you won't be disappointed.

We used to come here Friday lunchtimes when I was working in Leeds during the 1980s, and I revisited last Sunday lunchtime when I had an hour and a half in between trains. It was a great place then. I thought I'd write a review as it is the first time I've ever been back anywhere to find it was better than I remembered. Old Peculier and Timothy Taylor's Landlord plus a whole host of other real ales. Plenty of newspapers to read if you are on your own. I can never manage pub portions and they were quite happy to give me a half portions of roast lamb at half price - and it was excellent. Thank you and well done!

Cute pub but the drinks are priced appropriately for city centre. Good option for a date :)

Fabuloso pub. Fabulosa comida a un precio decente. El personal es fabuloso. Muy recomendable. Lo único negativo es que, aunque sabemos que los perros están permitidos, pedimos respetuosamente a los dueños de perros que mantengan a sus perros bajo control cuando estén en un área de comida. Un perro saltó a nuestra mesa, que pertenecía a un grupo de personas sentadas en una mesa a nuestro lado. Los dueños de perros por favor respeten nuestro espacio para comer, como respetamos el suyo!

Me encanta el pub. Pero no tomar curso legal. No voy a entrar más... Muchos lugares que sí. ¿Tan irónico acaban de ir a Dortmund y rechazaron las cartas? No hay problema de dinero.

Must visit pub in Leeds! Great food, great location and great staff! Loved the guy serving at the bar with the Twilight shirt on - slayedddd 🤩 We got the steak and ale pie which was very yummy and a huge portion (maybe a bit much for lunch) and the fries, halloumi fries and fig salad! All yummy dishes! I bring friends and family here a lot and it never disappoints 🤌

This is the oldest bar in Leeds city, established in 1715, and they have preserved their history quite well. I loved the live music and the atmosphere.

This pub is very small though not cosi and to make things worse has been split into two parts comprising a bar area and a wait-to-be-served eating area out of bounds if you just want to have a drink. Any seating available by the bar is taken up by what appears to be a local a click. We had one drink and had to sit outside in the rain as they would not let us sit unless we were eating what I consider to be overpriced mediocre food judging by the poor menu. This used to be a good pub with good ale but now spoiled like so many others as a wannabe restaurant. We will not be returning.

This is a hidden gem in the middle of Leeds,it's the oldest pub here and a must to visit. It's hidden in an alleyway in the middle of the town. We had a warm welcome and a nice pint I would recommend a visit.

Fantastic pub. Wish there were more places like this. Lots of staff, so even busy we got served quickly. Great atmosphere and the food looked great, would have stayed but we had to go to a gig.

Good stop for a burger and a beer. Food & Drinks: We had three burgers (all the same” and all three were slightly too cooked, small and the bread a bit chewy. The side of fries was on a completely different level though , super crispy on the outside and mashy inside. Awesome. They also had a good selection of beers and they all seemed valid choices. Staff: Our waitress was nice, helped us choose and checked if everything was okay every now and then. Nice service. Venue: Quite rustic and small, definitely the right vibe for a pub! Price: Ok. 20 per person for a burger and a beer. Nothing crazy.

Called in without a booking hoping for a table and a Sunday lunch. We were lucky and a bar table was free so we squeezed in there and ordered. Being down a back alley and very traditional looking with regulars drinking at 11.30 my expectations were low. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The staff were lovely, and couldn’t do more to help. The food was amazing, the roast beef melted in my mouth. I only wish I lived closer because I’d go every week! Thanks to all the staff for being so welcoming. I’d definitely recommend booking, it got incredibly busy really quickly.

Tucked away down an alley this is a lovely traditional pub. Loads of different beers on and the girl serving let me take away a glass because it had my surname on it! It was busy around 4pm on a Tuesday and had a great atmosphere

First had a drink here in 1998 and it hasn't changed much since then. Great beer, great atmosphere, great service. Don't ever change

Really nice atmospheric pubic, with a copper bar, stained glass windows and lots of other unique details. We had Old Peculiar on tap. The staff were really nice. Very popular place on a Saturday during the day

We had Sunday lunch here on 8/9/24 .. The food was fantastic,we both had the tomato soup to start with then I had pork and my wife had beef...The staff were all very welcoming and friendly..We thoroughly recommend Whitelock's..

Great place! Food was very fresh and lovely atmosphere! Staff all very friendly. We were served by Nadia who was genuinely interested in how we were enjoying our time at The Whitelock Ale House. She took the time to explain that all the ingredients are fresh in everyday and even told us which beer was used to make our Beer Battered Fish! Superb experience- highly recommended :)

I've always liked Whitelock's and recommended it many times to friends from other parts of the UK and even overseas. However, I visited today with my wife and was very disappointed. We ordered two sandwiches on brown bread and sat outside to wait, with a drink. When they arrived they were on white bread, but we were in a hurry and didn't bother mentioning it. When we started to eat, however, we found the bread dry and almost stale. We had to remove the contents to eat them and left all the bread. On the way out I noticed the same thing had happened on another table. I'll think twice before I eat there again.

First time visiting the oldest pub in Leeds and was part of our Scavenger hunt and very glad it was as this pub is a hidden gem. The outside area is cute and quirky and a plaque on the outside fills you in on a little of the history. When you step inside you are created by one of the most beautifully well maintained copper bars I have ever seen. You definitely need to go and experience the beauty of this pub. Great selection of ales and spirits
