This place is a gem . I wasn't sure about something on my meal and asked the bar tender about it. The chef actually sent out some for me to try before he put it on my plate which I thought was fantastic. I thought service like this was dead .I can't wait to visit again the next time I am in Leeds .

An Iconic Legend in Leeds, I bring friends and family from the USA here when they are over, they love the tradition of an Old Pub. I come here often when in Leeds, with friends, my wife, couples or even solo, the staff are great and it is always nicely busy any time of the day. That tells you it's a good pub. The atmosphere is always a nice mixture of Iconic Drinkers who know their ales, young couples or groups, professionals, locals or anyone who wants to try it out. My Dad used to frequent here in WW2 when coming back to Leeds on leave and always loved it, it needs people to come in more often and keep it going. Keep one of the last few remaining " Old Town Pubs" open. A definite MUST for anyone coming into Leeds, you won't be disappointed.

We used to come here Friday lunchtimes when I was working in Leeds during the 1980s, and I revisited last Sunday lunchtime when I had an hour and a half in between trains. It was a great place then. I thought I'd write a review as it is the first time I've ever been back anywhere to find it was better than I remembered. Old Peculier and Timothy Taylor's Landlord plus a whole host of other real ales. Plenty of newspapers to read if you are on your own. I can never manage pub portions and they were quite happy to give me a half portions of roast lamb at half price - and it was excellent. Thank you and well done!

Fabulous pub. Fabulous food at a decent price. Fabulous staff. Highly recommend. Only negative is, whilst we know that dogs are allowed, we would respectfully ask dog owners to keep their dogs under control when in an eating area. A dog jumped up at our table, which belonged to group of people sat at a table next to us. Dog owners please respect our eating space, as we respect yours!!!!

This pub is very small though not cosi and to make things worse has been split into two parts comprising a bar area and a wait-to-be-served eating area out of bounds if you just want to have a drink. Any seating available by the bar is taken up by what appears to be a local a click. We had one drink and had to sit outside in the rain as they would not let us sit unless we were eating what I consider to be overpriced mediocre food judging by the poor menu. This used to be a good pub with good ale but now spoiled like so many others as a wannabe restaurant. We will not be returning.

Good stop for a burger and a beer. Food & Drinks: We had three burgers (all the same” and all three were slightly too cooked, small and the bread a bit chewy. The side of fries was on a completely different level though , super crispy on the outside and mashy inside. Awesome. They also had a good selection of beers and they all seemed valid choices. Staff: Our waitress was nice, helped us choose and checked if everything was okay every now and then. Nice service. Venue: Quite rustic and small, definitely the right vibe for a pub! Price: Ok. 20 per person for a burger and a beer. Nothing crazy.

Called in without a booking hoping for a table and a Sunday lunch. We were lucky and a bar table was free so we squeezed in there and ordered. Being down a back alley and very traditional looking with regulars drinking at 11.30 my expectations were low. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The staff were lovely, and couldn’t do more to help. The food was amazing, the roast beef melted in my mouth. I only wish I lived closer because I’d go every week! Thanks to all the staff for being so welcoming. I’d definitely recommend booking, it got incredibly busy really quickly.

I've always liked Whitelock's and recommended it many times to friends from other parts of the UK and even overseas. However, I visited today with my wife and was very disappointed. We ordered two sandwiches on brown bread and sat outside to wait, with a drink. When they arrived they were on white bread, but we were in a hurry and didn't bother mentioning it. When we started to eat, however, we found the bread dry and almost stale. We had to remove the contents to eat them and left all the bread. On the way out I noticed the same thing had happened on another table. I'll think twice before I eat there again.

Was recommended Whitelocks by a friend. The Sunday lunch was excellent, lots of nice veg, cooked til it's tender and soft (How I prefer it). Yorkshire puddings are absolutely huge, definitely some of the biggest I've seen. The Beef was good but not perfect, I never really find any where that does it to my preference, so that the beef is finely carved. It's often too thick and it makes it chewy. That said it was nice and full of flavour. The cauliflower cheese was spectacular and actually I'd say nearly as good as my mum's and that is saying something. Really good, this is a must have. The gravy was nice, but again it gives off Toby vibes. I prefer gravy to be a bit runnier but very dense/rich in terms of flavour. I feel like there's room for improvement but it's definitely in the top 3 roast dinners I've had in a pub. Will definitely return.

Not the easiest place to find (admittedly though, me and the two purple I went with are terrible with directions) but absolutely worth the effort! I had been looking for the best place for a Sunday roast in Leeds on tiktok and everyone raved about this place and it's evident why. We had called to make a reservation to be told we could just walk in without issue. Ended up sitting outside because the indoor areas were fully booked or just full of people but the weather was nice so it worked out great anyway. The roast was so tasty. I had lamb, my friend had beef, both tasted amazing. Plenty of thick, rich gravy, veg cooked super well with a *huge* yorkshire pudding to top it off. Great value for money, friendly staff, already recommended to all my friends and will visit next time I'm in the area too.

Massive shoutout for the staff and bouncers at Oporto for jumping into action tonight. Two drunk men who were out celebrating Leeds’ win tonight decided to come harass me and my friend when we clearly were not interested, even going so far as groping my friend when I went up to the bar. One of the male staff members alerted the bouncers whilst another female staff member came to sit with us. The bouncers very quickly and calmly escorted the men outside. Made us feel very safe. Thank you so much for supporting young women!
