Ridiculous long preamble through endless Xmas merchandise to visit cafe. Poor signage for loos. Although service in cafe was quick & polite the panini was tasteless & uncooked tea stupidly expensive for tiny pot and cup. Won’t be revisiting .

Not very good for disabled and as for using the disabled toilet, having to push a wheelchair up that slope well it just takes the biscuit. It just spoiled the whole experience.

Very well laid out with well looked after plants,a wide range of garden furniture and many other items. The cafe is also very nice. However I find it a lot more expensive than some other outlets but the plant quality makes up for the extra cost .Yes it's changed with a complete overhaul and the goods have got very expensive. Its still very expensive to shop here.

What did we do at weekends before there were garden centres! A refrain oft heard amongst those earthy/planty types. But, rapidly over the years, they have developed exponentially from greenhouse venues, selling flowers, plants, bulbs and seeds. Now, some cover areas larger than a football ground parking lots. Whitehall is not quite that big, but has expanded significantly over the years. A large cafeteria is part of the complex an extensive range of garden fixtures and furniture that seems too good for a garden. Greetings cards in profusion, many initiating an uncontrolled guffaw. Own label wine, beer and preservatives by the shelffull and garden tools, as well as many other items of interest. Actually, on this visit, garden tools were somewhat underrepresented, hence the loss of one star - they did not have what I wanted. Oh yes, there are also plants. Indoors, outdoors, some for greenhouse only. Yes, lots and lots of plants. Well worth a visit.

Shocking price for two standard type coffees and two tea cakes for over 17 Pounds Stirling. I'm writing this for my mother who took her 90 year old sister there on Friday and was horrified at the cost. Not good enough, especially when pensioners are on tight budgets.

No dogs. Can understand for the restaurant if that’s the choice, or even inside, but is it really such an issue outside. Just makes it awkward so won’t be coming back unless they change their policy. Lots of people waiting outside with their dogs. Very frustrating and unnecessary.

Chose not to go in as dogs are no longer allowed anywhere on the premises. This is a shame but it's not practical to leave your dog in the car in hot weather while shopping for plants. Fortunately plenty of garden centres around Bristol do allow dogs so we'll go there in future. Hopefully this will increase trade for the charity plant sale a short distance down the road (where we also stopped and purchased).

Went here as had booklet through letter box with coupons for special garden product offers, it arrived late on 18th March so went next day, couldn't find any of the products available on the coupons, and the free Tete ta Tete daffodil stated 10cm pot were none around, when asked staff member told were at the tills! No compost in garden centre either! Also Had 2 for 1 breakfast offer and actually managed get that at £9.99, had vegetarian option very small portion egg, hash brown very fatty, mini pot beans, mushroom, half a tomatoe not even grilled, piece toast and the sausage yes a single sausage looked too much like meat one smelt weird but rather than waste it I took home for dog who refused eat it! At £9.99 should included a cup of tea, and we weren't happy pay for hot drinks on top so had water once located a smear free glass on the tray next to water machine! As I paid for my veg plants 3 for £6 and a solar balloon light £9.99 got my free daffodil plant, went out to car and damn compost outside at the exit very unhelpful should put sign on front door free plant at till and compost at exit, I couldn't be bothered go back in so £9.99 lost for you Whitehall. Also Solar colour balloon only display one left, but shop around same product only £4.99 at Home bargains shops, I didn't find out till after paid £9.99 for mine! 🤦

It is such a beautiful place! The displays and the products looked amazing. My son who gets so excited for Christmas absolutely loved it. It's definitely a place to go at Christmas! The staff are friendly and helpful It wasn't as done up this year as previously done, with large sections dedicated to purely one colour scheme, which is usual, but this year there wasn't the variety in my opinion. But still a huge selection to buy from for all your Christmas decorations you can think off. There is plenty of parking and a overflow car park but could do with being better lit. Will definitely be going back next year around Christmas to see the displays they are absolutely amazing.

January 2024 Dogs are no longer welcome, so we will now be going to other garden centres where they are and things are also much cheaper. June 2023. I've changed my rating from 2 to 4 now as they have put in outdoor seating again at the cafe. We now have somewhere to sit with the dogs when we stop for a coffee when we walk over from Whitchurch. June 2022. Came for a walk over with the dogs, to pick up a couple of things, and stop at the restaurant to get something to eat and drink. We were very disappointed to find out that the outside seating hasn't been reinstated since lockdowns, so we weren't able to stop and have some dinner. According to the staff we weren't the first to be disappointed with this problem.

Absolutely shocking. Today we visited with my wife, daughter and our 3 young nieces and nephews. Appreciated its busy season but when we finally managed to sit the kids down in the restaurant we got in the queue and waited for over 25 minutes. When we finally got to the counter the guy told us they are no longer doing breakfast. I asked what are they doing then and he said at the moment nothing. We waited for 25 minutes!!!! Only to be told we’re not doing food. I packed up the kids and as we were walking out I asked to speak to the manager who never came out! We then overheard somebody else kicking off and they agreed to serve that individual breakfast. Leaving us out the queue and with no food. Completely shocking. If you can see people in queue all the way at the back ready for a long wait at least tell them or at least keep food going until the queue has dissolved. Completely shocking service.

Simply a Christmas tradition. Lots of garden centres do Christmas well but Whiethall goes out and the kids (and I) find the experience magical and shiny. We go each year for the kids to buy a tree decoration each. They love looking at the lights and the animatronics. Note - it gets busy and can take a bit of time to park. Top tip is to come from the non-Bristol side where I have found the queue to be shorter.

We have been looking forward to seeing exactly why this place was so highly regarded and publicised for it's Christmas display and decided to make a trip this morning. We arrived just 40 minutes after opening and suffice to say it was carnage. We spent 30 minutes driving around the car park looking for somewhere to stop. It was a complete free-for-all and potluck whether you would get a space or not. If you happened to be in the right place at the right time you might get a spot as someone left; if not, around you go again. People aggressively took parking spots, parked poorly and some simply abandoned vehicles making it impossible to navigate around in places. In the end, we sadly gave up. By the time we left, the traffic was queueing quite a way up the road. If this was the expected level of attendendance surely some level of support in the carpark or system should be considered essential to at least make parking fairer? We may try again another day but if it's this chaotic in mid-November, I'd hate to think what it will be like in December!

Came here with what I thought would be a very simple task. We followed the signs around the shop for "Garden Furniture". Trailed all through the shop through the Christmas stuff thinking eventually we would emerge into the regular shop only to find out it is ALL Christmas stuff! Upon enquiring with a staff member where we might find garden furniture we were told "No garden furniture until after Christmas ". When I pointed out it is only September he replied with a shrug as we walked out. The least they could have done is covered your signs to correct display what they actually sell. Thank you for wasting our time.

We came here for dinner as our friends recommended it. We booked in advance and it was the right choice. The atmosphere is romantic and cozy. Lily was a really good waitress, very polite and attentive. We went for the a la cart menu and got 5 dishes to share between 2. The arancini were my favourite. The focaccia was out of this world. It was more than enough. We unfortunately couldn’t fit the desserts but they looked amazing.

We visited for lunch but decided to eat from the main menu, even though the lunch menu seemed good value for money. The starter was ok, but one can’t go wrong frying squid and calamari. The portion of ‘mayo’ was very small. For the main course we both wanted to have a chicken chimichanga. It was extremely bland and not good value for money. It was quite tasteless, the beans were very runny and there was a measly portion of mayo, tomato and guacamole. The waiter/manager was friendly enough, but his unbuttoned fly and untucked shirt, with belly hanging over his jeans, didn’t do much for our appetites. Overall a very disappointing and expensive lunch. Not recommended.

Not the most appealing of places, but serves generous portions of fish and chips. The mushy peas and chips are great, however, the fish is very average. Not the best batter, although it's edible. I wouldn't class it as a treat, but more of a bite to eat if you're lazy to cook. The prices are very reasonable though, so it kinda makes up for it.
