Last night, we went to The White Lion without a reservation. We had last-minute guests from abroad, it was a Sunday evening, and since they were exploring without a plan, we didn’t have the opportunity to make a reservation. Four adults and three children, we were quite hungry. We spoke to The White Lion staff and asked for help with a table. After waiting for about 40 minutes, they arranged a wonderful table for us. The food was delicious. I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the friendly and helpful Beckie and Emma, who took great care of us last night. Ladies, you saved my day, and thanks to you, I avoided letting my friend down.

The food is excellent, it's the third time we've been back here, wonderful service, Ivana is always amazing, truly an excellent person, kind and knowledgeable as well as highly professional. We will definitely return

My wife and I were visiting Europe for the first time and we traveled across London, Manchester, Liverpool, Isle of Skye(Scotland), Speyside(Scotland) and Edinburgh. The white lion was our favorite pub along the journey thanks to the great customer service from MalAv. He made us feel like locals and welcomed us with friendship and a smile. 10/10 will return on our next trip to London.

Located a stone's throw from Covent Garden and right next to the Covent Garden tube station, this pub is a great place to take a break from your day or come and relax after work. In terms of food and drink, do you find all your pub classics? Nicholson's is so excellent! You understand, this is a great recommendation for me!

Lovely food, great beer and wine, lovely atmosphere, superb staff!! 😀 Ivana and Malav were pleasant, efficient, and good-humoured and I should also mention young Joshua who was s pleasure to deal with too and who added to the evening. One of the best places to unwind after work for a pint, the Guinness pour is immaculate. I’m not having a Guinness unless it’s poured by Malav behind the tap , very good location right outside the station with cozy indoors and well lit outdoors. Must recommended!

Service was fantastic and staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was exceptional and the waitress was an 11 out 10! A really lovely visit made our day thank you. We will be back and would recommend this delightful pub to any one that I know.

Traditional English food. Their pies and sausage with mashed potatoes are recommended.

Initial service and taking orders was good. Food was ok. But then nothing. Asked at bar for another drink, never got it. No one cleared our plates or offered dessert or more drinks. And way too crowded with tables. Very disappointing overall.

A lovely traditional English pub in the heart of Covent Garden. We sat in the upstairs dining room as the pub was full downstairs. We chose a standard and large fish and chips from the extensive menu. The food was very good and the portions (especially the large fish and chips) were very generous. Leanne, the waitress/barmaid, was lovely. She was friendly, knowledgeable and chatty but gave us plenty of time to view the menu and enjoy our food.

Honestly such good food! We had a really good time and the staff (Ivana and Malav) are super nice! Just the right atmosphere for a homey evening. Also very suitable for vegetarians!

Group of 9. Booked ahead. Lovely table upstairs. Great atmosphere. Drinks first. Quick service with a smile. Ordering was easy and the staff very friendly. Dinner was very tasty, we all cleared our plates. Big thanks to our waitress, unfortunately didn't get her name but she was polish. She made our meal and night out rememberable. Will definitely be back for more.

Service was great! They were obviously busy but Leanne in the dining room called down to the bar when our table was ready. Very nice people! Barely any wait. Food was great and live music was going downstairs.

I have gone three times. Always great except this last time (August 2024). I ordered the lamb pie but this last time it was different, come on it wasn't any pie.

The artist with the guitar worked wonders, playing music from Queen to Bruce Spreengstin and getting the whole pub singing along (and some dancing, which was hilarious in the limited space of the bar). Great pints, great atmosphere, great fun. I have to come back! PS. They played live again on Sunday night. Wir kamen an einem Samstagabend im White Lion an und suchten nach einem englischen Pub mit Live-Musik. Und... wir wurden nicht enttäuscht! Der Künstler mit der Gitarre vollbrachte Wunder, spielte Musik von Queen bis Bruce Spreengstin und brachte den ganzen Pub zum Mitsingen (und einige zum Tanzen, was in dem begrenzten Raum der Bar urkomisch war). Tolle Biere, tolle Atmosphäre, toller Spaß. Ich musts unbedingt wiederkommen! PS. Am Sonntagabend spielten sie wieder live. Nice pub, good outside seating area. Staff are friendly and the bar service was quick and efficient. Bit pricey but i guess it’s as central London as you can get. Spotlessly clean toilets which makes a nice change for London. A good meeting point due to its close proximity to Covent Garden and the underground.

Was heading for Lamb and Flag but saw they had Five Points XPA on Cask ( one of my favourites) so gave it a go and wow I’m super impressed. For a pub in such a busy tourist area it was so clean and welcoming great service and perfectly kept ale. Excellent pint and an awesome pub

We were in London for 2 days as part of our family trip to Canada. My son found the white lion online and we decided to try it out. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere was good, the service was great and we really enjoyed the food. If we had been staying in London longer, we would have gone back.

A man with long hair that was taking our order was very rude and did not let us finish our order and then ask for our ID when we were not ordering any alcohol.

Took my family here few weeks ago, and the service was impressive. The service from Jack was exceptional and will be visiting here again in the near future.

My wife and I were looking for a quintessential British pub experience as we are in London from Colorado, US. We certainly got that at The White Lion with particularly great service from Jack.

Came for a drink with a friend a few weeks ago. We were unsure about what to drink so our bartender Jack directed us to a bottle of wine which was superb. Service was great and would definitely come again!

I love this place! The vibe is so good, such a comfortable place. Food was delicious and filling. The beef pie was perfect! Staff here are all amazing. Mickael and Harry were so quick and patient. Their new drinks menu had came out recently and they were very GOOD!!

Perfect place! Went for lunch and had the Nachos and the Landlords Platter, just the right amount and delicious food. Leanne was our server and was super attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

A nice central London pub, with live music when we visited

Went here for dinner with friends. We both ordered the vegan burger. In the description it said the burgers come with chips unless otherwise stated. All burgers ranged from £17.50-£19.00. The burger was described with salad so expected salad on the burger and chips on the side unless the staff said they weren’t serving. The wording was unclear so when we did not receive fries for such an expensive burger order (a very disappointing burger) we questioned it. The staff was very rude and defensive. The main person was acting like we were kicking off, but we were just asking and confused. They said “obviously you can’t have fries with a vegan burger”, which was very confusing? Why not? Apparently they cross contaminate but this is not obvious and we are not in the kitchen to know this. Overall, bad food, overpriced, rude staff.

I brought my family of six here for a late Friday dinner and had a great time. We each tried the meat pies (chicken + truffle, boar + chorizo, steak+ ale) and one of us had the sausage and mash. We all enjoyed the traditional meals and desserts (sticky toffee pudding and caramel biscuit torte). The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was everything we hoped for - a clean, traditional pub. Highly recommend!

Fish and chips is solid. Breading really nice and crispy, with perfect amount of salt. The chips themselves are okay. Sticky toffee pudding was decent -- extremely sweet. Great, friendly service.

Just arrived from Sydney, Australia and this was our first stop in London! Leanne gave us fantastic service and the fish and chips were great :)

Used the upstairs dining. My brisket pie was really good. The lamb shank pie was also very tasty. Along with 2 pints of Nicholson's and a large wine, made a very pleasant lunch. Quite pricey, but no more than where London is lately for food and drinks. I would visit again.

I had a sausage sandwich which was delicious! The latte was great. One of the workers was a little grumpy as we entered while they were still setting up but Craig made everything better. Craig was polite, friendly and very competent!
