Poor Sunday lunch small portions, cold food advised the waitress of this and she said she would let the chef know, that was it. From ordering after asking how much longer our food was going to be it was an hr and the two very small potatoes were cold, we asked for horseradish sc it came just as we finished our meal. the best thing about the whole meal was the cauliflower cheese which was an extra.if you know the food is going to be so long advise people on entering..

We turned up without booking on a busy summers day , we didn’t think they’d be able to fit four of us and a well behaved pup in , however nothing was a problem , we were given a lovely table in the bar and menus . Our order was taken and we ordered some drinks at the bar . Food arrived and it was all absolutely delicious and well presented, we cleared our plates. We returned the next day and dined again as we loved it so much. Front of house staff are fantastic!! Polite & professional and chefs are obviously very talented. Thank you for a great dining experience! Will definitely be back !

Had another great meal last night . Restaurant was booked but we found a table in the garden . This restaurant/pub is under new ownership . It has been fully refurbished . The poor reviews about service predate the current owners and should be deleted . These staff are professional , knowledgeable , lively and entertaining . The atmosphere is relaxed and dogs are welcome . The food is excellent , fine dining quality presented in traditional starter / main format or you can have tapas style small dishes . You can have what you want . There is to be a coffee shop and bakery opening soon we hope . We are long term residents ofHolme and are delighted with the changes

Grumpy staff, particularly unwelcoming of us and our dog. Manager particularly so. Staff chat amongst each other, ignoring customers; and heard discussing visitors/guests perhaps assuming they could not be heard - highly unprofessional regardless.

Excellent meal. I have eaten here on other occasions and always had a beautiful meal. Today I tried the Brancaster mussels in white wine and garlic sauce. It was absolutely delicious . Ordered a portion of plaice and chips, and also haddock and chips. Minimal fish encased in shed-loads of very greasy batter. Most disappointing (and not cheap either). Why on earth does one have to pay extra for peas if you want them with cod or haddock, but they are included with the plaice? Peas also served cold.

Friday night meal. Ordered drinks first and because we wanted to sit outside the bar lady told us they don't do tabs for outside so if we ordered food we would have to go back and re order etc. She was not a happy person at all. Totally in the wrong job. Sat outside on the picnic benches which could do with a clean. When they brought the food out I am quite sure they made a sarcastic comment because we were not near them and she had to walk with our food. We will not be re visiting. Thats a shame because when you find somewhere good you will re-visit . For goodness sake cheer up or get out.

This pub has recently been upgraded cosmetically but unfortunately the new management are a far cry from the previous team. We popped in for lunch and just had a sandwich, it could have been made by a child, how you can make such a hash of a cheese and pickle sandwich is beyond me and charge £6.75 for it. Basic bread a few chunks of cheese and no pickle, when we pointed out the pickle was missing no apology and a just ‘here’s your pickle’ slammed down a few moments later in a small bowl. We were made to feel like we were being awkward for asking for it. Never again, not a good experience.

We were staying opposite the White Horse in a holiday cottage with our dog. Handy to have a pub on our doorstep that was so dog friendly. Shame, all but one of the members of staff , they aren’t so human friendly!! We felt rushed to order food with whom we believe to be the landlord forever asking us to order food when we just wanted to sit and enjoy a drink before dinner. The food is basic pub grub but ok and a decent menu choice. Can our lovely barman PLEASE instruct his colleagues how to pour Guinness (not poured in ONE pull or in a Moretti glass ) It’s warm and clean and we did meet some lovely customers and enjoyed some nice chats The bottle of wine my husband bought for THE BEST barman/waiter (hopefully supervisor/bar manager) was well deserved. He definitely deserved it and needs to promoted to head of training - Customer Service, Bar tender & work ethic. A definite asset to The White Horse. BTW we’ve been in the trade for years 🍷🍻

Up in Norfolk for a few days and looking to enjoy the wonderful area and hospitality. This Restaurant/Pub is definitely WELL worth swerving around. It’s so apparent in its attitude of the customer being a bother and it stands out how they make you feel that way from the minute you enter the pub. Just went there for a drink to start with, then thought we might have a quick bite to eat. I asked the rather ‘ unapproachable Landlord’ if we could eat, it was before 2-00pm - do you have any mussels - yeah, how are they served, mariniere ? After a grunt, said we serve with white wine and cream, ok fine. A little strange, we were perched on a table in the middle of a very busy bar, my wife and I stood up with a view to going into the restaurant, a lot calmer and better place with a lot of space to have a calm and relaxed atmosphere - he looked at me strangely, I said let’s go into the restaurant, is that alright? - in a very irritated way-said, if you really want to ! Long story short, if you want to be made to feel a nuisance and causing a problem - go here. We are away to have a chill time and not interested in having issues over a lunch, just a bit of time to enjoy, a lot of places up in this area seem to believe that the customer is a real pain - but somehow has to be contended with. I’m Surrey where we live, the hospitality business has had such a difficult few years, they have a very welcoming and pleased to see you attitude. I just don’t think that this sort of establishment helps the customer or their trade. Hope that helps someone.

Visiting Holme with Uni friends. We met in 1976, callow youths with the desire to be teachers. We get together every now and again. We chose to visit the White Horse and were treated like old friends. The staff were excellent, friendly, funny and very accommodating. It was so good we came back for a second evening. The food was very good. I had the mussels which reminded me of holidays in France. Best joke of the week was to be served three mussels for dessert as I had not opted for one and the waitress decided (I hope) that I shouldn't miss out. All in all a great time. Thank you for making our reunion special.

Popped in here initially for a drink and everything was fine. Nice garden and surroundings. We did notice that a lot of people were leaving varying amounts of their food. Decided to try a lunch a couple of days later and my wife had fish and chips which she said was reasonable. I decided to go for the "homemade" steak pie. It certainly looked nice but as soon as I started on the filling, it was obvious the meat was of very poor quality and full of gristle. I had to leave virtually all the meat. When the waitress came, she asked if everything was okay and I told her about the meat. She told me that quite a lot came through like that! I did ask why they were described as "homemade" when they were clearly not made on site but she suggested they might have been made in someone's home! She also told me that she had eaten a Tesco pie the night before and that had some gristle! So that was it. No apology, no offer of some money off for a meal that was barely touched other than the frozen chips and frozen peas. Service here is good and food comes out quickly but probably too quickly.

It was ok, but was expecting better from reading reviews.Service at bar was ok while food order was very strange and the person serving was more worried about others walking in than concentrating on me as the customer and taking the order.Burgers arrived within 10min Max which is great but which meant the burger was already half cooked prior to the order (and the chips as well) and you could taste it too especially the chips. The burger was cooked medium which I believe in the UK is still illegal in terms of Food standards Act. I like my burger like that and follow the rest of Europe on that ruling because a burger tastes better medium so I didn’t complain. The ciabatta roll for the burger I didn’t think would work but it was actually ok and nice change from a simple bun or Brioche (which is still the best bun for a burger in my opinion)Staff were quite helpful when booking a table over email even though I was told I didn’t need to. On the night it was apparent it was a good thing I did as it was busy but a lot of takeaway meals especially Pizza. On the dining in menu there wasn’t any pizza which was disappointing as I read all about them and someone in the party may have wanted one.F&B in Hospitalty is my expertise and forte and was left with a strange feeling afterwards. Not at all Covid safe. On arrival it is quite promising, there is a sign outside stating people should not queue in the bar but instead take a seat at a table outside. After sitting for ten minutes we asked a lady, who had just brought food to another table, what the process was. The answer was to go inside and order at the bar. On doing so I found that the small bar was full of tables with diners eating and a long queue doubling back between the tables with people waiting for the lone barman who was serving drinks and taking food orders. There was zero possibility to socially distance. No one took any names or contact details of visitors and therefore track and trace would be impossible. Apart from a few signs it was as though the pandemic did not exist. Shame. With a bit of thought and organisation it could be much safer and would generate more revenue (all those queueing are not eating or drinking).

Always a highlight of a beach dog walk from Old Hunstanton (park next to Le Strange arms - if you go later in the afternoon, parking tends to be free). Great food (although the burger i would say is good, but not great)! However, there is a good choice of some of your English favourites. We are slowly trying to make our way around the whole menu, but fish and chips (our favourite) is always in the corner of our eyes! We always sit in the beautiful garden, and depending on the time of the year, in the sun, it really is quite tranquil (backroad off A149, so no noisy traffic). They also sell Adnams beer, which is one of my favourite tipples. Staff were great, and the dog was more than welcome! Overall, it ticks all the boxes and more; a real hidden gem!

I have read the numerous very negative reviews here, and while I sympathise I can't agree. Ultimately it boils down to a mismatch between expectation and reality. This is clearly a great local, which looks beautiful and is well located hence gets plenty of tourist trade in the summer. I imagine business is much tougher going through the low season, yet the pub has to make it through. So it does the community stuff very well, but can't quite deliver on the menu it promises. My feeling is that the printed menu is the crux of the problem because it hints at gastropub levels of culinary excellence, when in fact it serves up (perfectly adequate) pub grub. We too experienced the very fast arrival of the food - the scampi was good but the lemon sole was dry and unseasoned, It's a style best described as homely. The food was generous and simple, but not skilfully prepared. It's what I would expect from a pub kitchen going full-tilt trying to satisfy everyone. I think the overly great variety of the menu (and its tone) don't help, and neither do the 1-star comments.

Nice relaxing atmosphere in the restaurant. We enjoyed our food, vegan Malaysian curry was nice. Meat eaters enjoyed their sausages & mash and lasagne. Generous portions. I have added photos of the menu.

We arrived, two hungry walkers looking forward to a nice lunch. When I asked if they had crab, and they said yes, I got all excited. This is the land of Cromer crabs just along the coast. Then, I asked where it came from...

We came here for dinner after my mum has visited before and I have to give this place five stars for several reasons.Firstly the staff. They could not have been more friendly welcoming and helpful. Secondly the atmosphere of the place is just wonderful, relaxed and comfortable to just enjoy your dinner. The decor is perfect for the style of pub aswell. This place may not be your pretentious gastro pub that serves over priced food but it has charm! I work in hospitality in a high end restaurant and quite frankly I would love it if more places were like this! A good old fashioned British pub with Great staff and great food. We will be back! Ps the signs were great!

Looked at reviews and was quite looking forward to our lunch there and on the pub itself and garden are lovely. The food however was a different story , the French onion soup was a whole sliced onion with a drizzle of some kind of stock in a bowl, my partners pate was so dry it wouldn't spread. The main course arrived whilst we were still buttering the bread for our starter, no apology just left on the end of the table to go cold.

‘Complaints department 100 miles ——>’. Their sign on the wall sums it up. Absolutely no acceptance of poor service, and the worst we have had. Do not recommend.

We have frequently dined here as I do not eat meat and the fish menu is always offering good choice with many 'specials' as available. Not strictly a gastro pub but better than average with good options. Tonight I had perfectly acceptable scampi and chips and my wife had rump steak which I am told was cooked exactly as ordered. All in all good value food reasonably priced. It has a restaurant section (same prices and options) but at peak times it can get busy so booking advisable or take your chances on a table in the bar being available.

Glowing reports in the guest book in our rented cottage, so looking forward to our evening meal. Tasteless fish pie and the place special was missing all the trimmings. Fish chowder for lunch next day was excellent. But evening meal was reheated and dried out. Waiter admitted they reheat a lot of their food....! Would not recommend and will never return.

We had lunch at the pub twice, both times in the pleasant beer garden at the back/side. The choice on the menu was extensive. My wife enjoyed the fishcakes on both occasions. Our only disappointment was some fatty and stringy lamb inside the lamb wellington. That said the pastry, filling and and gravy were delicious so not a big deal. And the dog enjoyed the lamb I could not eat!

Me and my partner visited here on Tuesday and enjoyed a lovely three course meal priced at £53 including starters, mains, desserts, sides and 2 glasses of merlot. The service is faultless, and the portions of food is remarkable, and so cheap, considering. We liked it so much that we decided to come back this evening. We received a lovely warm welcoming, we hadn’t booked but was shown straight to a table. The food is always faultless, quick, simple and easy, the atmosphere is lovely, very old fashioned, which is nice considering everywhere is trying to live up to this modern standard. Such a cosy and warm pub, with 5* service and delicious food. We are just half it’s tucked away and not many people are aware of it. This is now our favourite pub! Thanks guys! We look forward to seeing you soon.

We were exploring the North Norfolk coast when we stumbled across this pub in a lovely small village. Luckily they managed to fit us in for a late lunch but the Sunday roast option had finished. We were happy to order from the menu which seemed to be huge and the pie and fish & chips were both delicious. They were incredibly busy and it took a while for the waitress to take our order but we were able to order drinks from the bar. Once our order had been taken the food arrived very quickly and we were not disappointed. I think they have a lot of regulars who frequent often as it seems very good value. We would definitely return if in the area again.

Lovely pub in a beautiful, tranquil location. Indifferent service from the barman. When the food arrives five minutes after ordering, you know something will be wrong. The homemade chicken and leek pie was microwaved: soggy pastry with a bland filling. Not bad enough to warrant a complaint, but very disappointing...

We tried the seafood chowder on a chilly spring day, delicious! We washed it down with a few glasses of Broadside and enjoyed the warmth of the open fire with our dog sitting under the table - yes they're dog friendly here :-)

We popped in for lunch on a Saturday whilst visiting the area. What a gem of a pub hidden away in Holme. With it being a beautiful sunny day the pub was busy, but we managed to bag ourselves a table in the delightful garden. Service was very quick, especially given how busy it was. The lunch menu caters for all, we went for something simple and light, a sandwich each and a side order of chips, but all the meals we saw coming out of the pub looked very good and gave us food envy on more than one occasion, so we finished off with sticky toffee pudding! The staff were very friendly and efficient. Great that the place was dog friendly as well.

In spite of some mixed reviews we have this place a go and it disappointed. The Woodford's Wherry (claimed to be best beer in the world by some), was well below par (And i don't think Woodford's are to blame). I will not be back

Probably my worst WS meal ever. 3 sausages almost burnt, they were tasteless and well overcooked which I said to the server who grinned at me. The chips as usual most were hard and inedible, peas hard. Served in a bowl with gravy all over the chips. WS has had a problem with hard chips for months, I have complained to staff and emailed head office to no avail. Thats it I AM NOT eating at a WS any more.

Two adults and two dogs enjoyed our weekend at the GTI. From arrival, the personalised touches really made for a memorable experience- homemade cakes, gin and tonic in the suite, relaxed but efficient service and delightfully presented accommodation. The pub and restaurant is wonderful, the food is exceptional. The service was wonderfully attentive and relaxed, the prices were good value. We ate in the restaurant and the pub, both menus were superb. We visited beaches, ran around the Downs, shopped in Burnham Market and Thornham Farm shops.

Ignore this place visited Bank Holiday Monday. Bad atmosphere no welcome and then 2 awful cappuccinos. Food average and very poor service even witnessed 2 examples of rudeness to customers.
