White Horse in Denbighshire

We've been to the White Horse for dinner tonight. 25/10/24. Absolutely brilliant, the food was amazing and the young lady who looked after our table was great, she really is a credit to your business. I can highly recommend the Steak & Ale pie, it really is to die for. Thank you we'll defend be back.

Lovely local, great food, would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Dog friendly, and outside seating for when it doesn't rain.

A great local pub with friendly locals. Great choice of food and beverages. Pool table and dart board. Went in one evening for a meal amd became a regular after moving to the village. Tourists made to feel welcome too.

Amazing Sunday dinner, everything you can imagine all cooked well and very tasty. Portions very generous. We visited by chance on the way back from Moel Famau to Prestatyn and are pleased we did. Its a cosy local and we felt very welcome woth our 3 standard poodles. We will definitely return when in the area.

How nice to be in a proper pub that serves proper pub grub, and has a great atmosphere! They are becoming hard to come by these days.

Called in by chance after trying to find dog friendly pubs. Excellent Sunday dinner and very reasonable. Lovely drinks too. The staff were lovely and chatty. Will definitely call again soon even though we live quite a few miles away.

La serveuse était très gentille et nous a même donné des conseils sur les endroits où aller au pays de Galles ! Nous reviendrons sûrement quand nous retournerons dans le pays !

A little gem of a pub restaurant hidden in plain sight just outside of Ruthin. On any given evening there's always the chance of good conversation with the locals. Contrary to what some may think the Welsh are a welcoming people and there's an old world charm to the place. The Landlord is as efficient in taking orders as he is pulling a proper pint. While he is not the most talkative of people and his expression can be a little dour, his comedic personality and charm shines through. The food is excellent and consistent what ever meal you choose. The place is clean and the standards high. The company is good. If you've not been before I'd suggest that when you pass by you stop off to sample these olde world delights.

Had a lovely meal, great value and food was superb. Very accommodating staff , I was able to take my meal as I couldn’t eat it all and it was no trouble at all. Would highly recommend!

We stumbled across this place on our way back to our holiday home. We're so glad we stopped. The roast dinner was absolutely fantastic, we had a vegan with us and where happy to see the vegan offering on the menu. We would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be returning.

Great little local pub; we stopped here as a pit stop on our journey to Llanberis. The service was great (even if I did get asked for ID when I'm 30 - good genes 🤣🤣). The cider was really nice too!

Just had a lovely buffet funeral meal there today.Exccelant varies food sandwiches,sausage rolls ,tastey proper chips!Also good choice of sweets cakes,scones and jam and whipped cream etc.Good atmosphere.Had a look at there reviews all very good.Meals look good as well This looks like a very good local eating place.In 50 years never been here till now,must of past it litterly a hundreds of times.Shall defeneitly be back again for a menu meal next time !

We come to this pub a lot and love it - can't recommend it enough. Keith, Carol and all staff are very welcoming and the pub has a great local pub atmosphere. Brilliant example of the type of local Welsh pub that is getting harder and harder to find. Well worth a visit.

This pub is never open mid week in the winter. I'm surprised anybody had actually got in to write a review. How it made a list of best pubs in North Wales is a mystery to me. Best avoided I think.

We booked a table for 5 of us for New year's eve. The owners were so accommodating with our last minute booking. Such lovely friendly service. We would recommend the hone made pies and the desserts, delicious. The service was fantastic and so reasonably priced. We will be back when we visit Ruthin again

Don't judge a book by it's cover, when you first go in you may think it is more a drinkers pub and doesn't serve meals. Well we did and how wrong we were the food was lovely, everyone really friendly and very dog friendly. Probably only negative was we just could not eat the portions. Such a shame as it was good, well cooked food.

This is a fantastic little pub - quite the find. Unassuming and totally authentic, with a really warm welcome from the friendly landlord and some good ales on tap. Best of all are the homemade pies - delicious shortcrust pastry, excellent flavours, and large portions!

Ate a Sunday lunch here. 5 adults, a 4 year old and a 2 year old and a dog. The staff could not have been more obliging and the food was superb. The roast beef dinner was a delight to look at let alone eat. I had a rump steak with excellent chips, peas and onion rings all for£10. It was cooked to perfection. In all for the seven of us with drinks and desserts, the bill came to £105. Superb value.

Hosted karaoke there NYE 2019. A great pub and lovely locals. My partner was a bit peckish, so we had some cheesy chips before the kitchen closed and the celebrations began. Proper home cooked chips :)

Had a very good pub meal last night at a very good price. Nothing sophisticated or pretentious but quite a few items were homemade and the chips were proper ones. The room is un made over/ bit of a hotch potch but they are sensible not wasting money on elaborate renovations. The service was good and friendly.

Great value restaurant. It's definitely a pub and don't be expecting a fine dining experience. The chairs around the table don't match and the decor could be improved but don't let that out you off from enjoying a great tasting family dinner that won't break the bank.

Visited here when staying in the area for a rally event. The b and b recommended this pub and I'm glad they did. Food was spot on and good honest pub food. Service was exceptional and freindlyPrices were fair and frkn what we saw the place was catered for dog and very much dog freindly. The atmosphere was freindly and I would not hesitate to return or recommend this place.

We had driven past this pub so many times, so on a busy bank holiday when every where was full it was lovely to find this traditional country pub with all the favourites on its very reasonably priced menu . The food was very quickly served, hot, fresh and very tasty, with so much of a helping it totally ruled out dessert. We sat under the shade of a parasol in the beer garden, which even though there was traffic going past the other side of the wall, it still felt still and relaxed. Pros : sensible prices, great fresh food, lovely traditional pub setting.Very polite and helpful staff, quick service, they take cards, they allow pets and have plenty of parking. Cons : none that I can think of.

On holiday for a week with 14 of us. Came back for a second time as staff so friendly, good home cooked food and fantastic value for money. Couldn't recommend this place enough if you are looking for a welcoming cosy atmosphere. Great Welsh Pub!

Tried to find somewhere that served Sunday roast and after a few false stops we came across the White Horse in Llanfair DCThe food was amazing and service was fantastic! We had the Sunday roast which was a choice of gammon or beef at £9.95 - the portions were really great and the desserts at £3.95 each were even better!!Dog friendly as well which was a huge bonus!Well worth a visit!!

We live about six miles from Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd, so 'Y Ceffyl Gwyn' (the 'White Horse' to you folk from further east!) is just a bit too far away to count as a 'local' for us. So we hadn't thus far given it a try; but, having heard good reports of it as a friendly pub with nice food, we drove out there to taste their pub grub.And we definitely weren't disappointed. 'The management' gave us a warm welcome, the bar was full of cheerful conversations in both languages, we were given the choice of eating in the quieter dining room or at tables at the top end of the bar, and we were provided with a large and varied menu. What's not to like?You get a lot of choice; not because they offer a vast selection of dishes, but rather because, for main course, there's both a 'posher choice' menu and an 'economy' one. And both provide a generous range of options.So we ordered first course (a delicious leek soup for me and a succulently large prawn cocktail for herself) and then decided to try out the 'economy' menu because all the main courses on it were under £8 - not often you find that these days! At that price I wondered what we'd get in terms of size and quality, but we weren't at all disappointed: our meals were plain and straightforward, for sure, but at the price you'd expect nothing else!. I had the belly pork and my other half opted for a curry. My belly pork was simply served with mashed spuds, peas and gravy, but the portions - the chunk of pork included - were huge. The curry was no less generous in quantity. And at the end I was presented with a bill of a mere £28:55, which included our drinks and our first course (we'd no room in the tum for a sweet!). I was paying more than that for a pub meal of similar size and quality fifteen years ago! But had I wanted a more elaborate rendering of my belly pork, I could have forked out rather more and chosen it from the 'posher choice' menu with a wider range of vegetables. In this pub you can pay your money and take your choice!Our first visit, but it definitely won't be our last!

My friend and I had been recommended to go to The White Horse on the Wrexham Road out of Ruthin. I asked 'Mr Google' for information and the photos that came up were dull and the food looked very basic. We persevered and were hugely surprised by the lovely interior with leather sofas in both the bar and the restaurant, the very friendly staff and local clientele from the village, the varied and interesting menu and the hidden size of the restaurant which can host quite large groups but is also cosy and attractive. The food was very tasty and the presentation good. We will definitely recommend this pub to our friends in Ruthin. I had always wondered about the parking which is limited outside the pub, however there is actually ample parking because it is possible to park in the village hall and church car park before you reach the pub. The stroll through the lovely churchyard with it's historically old and large trunked trees is delightful.

On our first night of glamping nearby we went in search of dinner and stumbled on this hidden gem. Simple menu but really well executed there were no empty plates and the atmosphere was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend if you have hungry teens and tweens to feed! We will definitely be back!

Have visited this pub on a few occasions now, the owners are very friendly and make you feel welcome, the food is good value and plentiful. All in all a very nice friendly village pub.

Cosy pub, lovely people, nothing is too much! The beer Blattered cod was very Well cooked and the plate had more food then we could take! Accompagnied with Nice sauvignon blanc, we had a perfect night!
