dined here on the 25th August after vicky the owner managed to fit us in with our dog. food and service was excellent from start to finish probably the best Sunday dinner I've ever eaten and deserts were delicious fantastic experience highly recommended

Lovely Sunday lunch! Excellent service!! Vegetarian options.

The food was nicely cooked and p presented, however we were totally ignored by the owner who checked everyone was happy with their meals. Having arrived at 6.45 it was 7.10 before our order was taken and 7.55 before the food was served. The young man serving was pleasant but on an evening when there were only 4 tables I would have expected better.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Went on a Wednesday which was a small plates and open mic night. Felt very welcomed.

A very warm welcome for our party of 8 people. The menu was extensive and varied. The food was fabulous. Rob and Vicky are are on hand to make sure your visit is perfect. Highly recommended from us. Thank you.

The food here seems to get better every time we visit. This time I had mushroomy toast starter followed by the pancetta wrapped pork loin. Both were excellent. I should have gone for the pork belly starter but two pork dishes was too much. Luckily my wife chose pork belly so I got to try it. Brilliant! The service was relaxed, friendly and efficient as always.

Lovely place for a meal! We arrived, not having booked and being told the restaurant was fully booked upon arrival, they still managed to squeeze us in! Fantastic food, warm and cozy atmosphere. Makes us want to drive 3hours just to have their mushroom starter!

We had the most incredible meal this evening at Nant Y Felin. The food was insane, the staff and family running the pub were so welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere was great too! We would 1000% recommend and would love to visit again when next in the area!

Lovely wehad a lovely meal for my 80th birthday with family.

We had a lovely evening last week at Nant Y felin! The food was carefully planned, cooked perfectly and beautifully presented! The duck was especially delicious! Warm welcome, looking forward to going back soon and trying a Sunday Lunch!

Really lovely Sunday Roast with the family

We had Sunday Lunch here after a friends recommendation. They weren't wrong as the food was great! I did think that the restaurant could do with sprucing up and a bit of a revamp. It was popular with the locals and it was nice to hear Welsh being spoken at other tables. Da iawn!

Rang and booked on the off-chance 2 nights ago for Sunday lunch for 8 for our family and friends and they fitted us in...even added an extra friend when we turned up with a plus 1... Belly pork and kimchi starters were delicious and the roast dinners were the best I've been served in a restaurant...we had the beef, the lamb and the chicken, and even a smash burger with the best chips, and everyone agreed it was beautiful! The pavlova and the crumble went down a treat too! Staff were courteous and attentive and we were welcomed even when booking so late We all left full and happy and extremely contented x and our pocket wad happy too! The only danger is we are only 4 miles away and the pull to come back again and again will be hard to resist! Would definitely recommend 100% - look forward to our next visit! Absolute gem of a place! Superb food!!

This is a warm and welcoming place with great staff with a caring manner due this visit being a wake. The food was excellent with a wide selection of buffet foods which tasted outstanding and excellent choice of beer.

Had our Christmas works meal there recently, really helpful leading up to the day and even better experience on the night. Amazing food and exceptional service. We would definitely return. Thank you to Vicky and the team.

Amazing food, great atmosphere and friendly staff

A member of my family had a disappointing experience here recently during Christmas dinner for a large group of people. The quality of the food was deemed to be good, but the whole experience was let down by lack of heating on a very cold day (especially considering the average age of the large group) and one main course was served much later than all the other meals, with a distinct lack of sprouts on the plate.

Just had the most amazing meal at the Nant Y Felin! Beef was cooked to perfection and the portion sizes of my main and pudding were plenty. The meal was so tasty and homecooked. Staff were so polite and the recommended Gin for me when i couldn't decide was lovely! Will certainly return! The sooner the better! Thank you.

We’ve frequented this cosy little restaurant several times over the last few years whilst visiting relatives in the area but have not (as many of us are guilty of) found the time to post a review. We’ve never had anything other than a perfect experience. It’s a family run place and it shows in every aspect from the quality of the food, the creativity on the menu and the atmosphere. And a special mention for the lovely service from the front of house staff, that’s just the finishing touch.. keep up the good work!

Six of us visited for a Sunday lunch heard that Nant Y Felin was a place to certainly give a go. Service was a bit slow but never really want to be rushed so can’t grumble. We were put in what I can describe as a side room from the bar not the main restaurant and had arrived at Twelve noon. We were seated and as soon as we walked in felt how cold it was. This is the only reason I can not give it a five. An hour later the radiator was still stone cold this for us spoilt what was a fantastic, very tasty Sunday Lunch!!! The main room which we walked past as we exited was warm as we felt the blast of warm air walking past. Friendly staff, would it put me off going again? Only if I was put in the cold room!

Lovely place to eat. Friendly staff. Our waiter was very Polite. My husband had the mushrooms to start. And couldn’t taste any brandy in the sauce. He did mention it to the waiter. I had steak as a main. I felt the steak was pretty fatty. The rest of the meal was lovely. Great pub. I loved the personal touch with family photos on the wall.

What an amazing restaurant, a hidden gem. All ten diners said their meals were absolutely delicious. Stayed at Ruthin Castle and the 8 minute drive to this restaurant is a must. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly like a home from home experience. Nothing is too must trouble -will definitely be returning Thank you for making our families party such a delight.

Been here in the past about 5 months and food and service was amazing we even left a £20 tip we were that impressed. Went back today and all I can say it was like a different place. Rang 11.30am to see if they had any tables for the day for 2 people, they did at 2pm! Me and my partner arrived at about 10 to 2, took a seat in the bar area with a drink where we waited 40 minutes to be taken to our seat…we got to our seat and it was a small cramped back table next to the kitchen which had clearly been put together last minute, I know this as I seen 2 of the bar staff pushing a table through the back ‘ discreetly‘. We were not happy about being sat here especially after waiting 40 minutes!! So we decided to go sit outside as it was a nice sunny day! Baring in mind we ordered our food about 10 minutes after we arrived my partners starter arrived about 5 minutes after we sat outside, he said that was nice. Our mains then arrived we both had a chicken lunch each, wow! All I can say is the chicken is like something Iv never seen, the texture was like raw chicken but it was cooked??? Very very bizarre, I’m 8 months pregnant so didn’t want to risk eating it even though the ‘chicken’ on both of our plates was the same! At this point of after being there for an hour already I was going to just eat the vegetables on the plate but as I was about to tuck into the cauliflower cheese all I could see was small pieces of foil throughout it!!!!! At that point I’d had enough! Sat on a rickety outside bench with wasps flying around i wanted to leave! We said we would pay for the drinks we had and the starter and without hesitation we were given then bill with a sorry excuse for an apology and no offer for a reduction on the bill after all the hassle! We have raved about this place after our first visit and decided to treat ourself out one last time before our baby arrives and this is what we get! NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Last mention the older lady at the bar so rude towards the youngest bar staff, looked as if she’d not long started or was on ‘training’ but if I was spoken to like that in work I would be walking out! Would jot recommend!

Lovely place, great food, definitely going there again.

A mostly enjoyable meal, but one of our party was brought an overcooked steak and then when they brought him the rare steak he had ordered, it was undercooked to the extent of being cold in the middle.

Four of us Dined here on a Friday evening for the first time. We all thoroughly enjoyed three courses each. Especially their homemade ice cream made by their chef. Best ice cream around. Really tasty food and a lovely host Vicky and her friendly team. Look forward to returning in the future.

Very disappointing poor food - it seems they are using low quality ingredients and our dishes were smothered in sauces which were bland and poorly prepared , disguising any taste ! My wife could not eat what was an anniversary meal it was unappealing to look at and lacking in taste and texture. We have been before but your standards have really plummeted , have you changed your Chef ? We reporter it was poor on paying ( not having had value at all ) and the young man apologised in passing with absolutely no conviction ! We will not return unless significant improvement is guaranteed

Booked the Nant y Felon on the recommendation of a friend who had recently been there. We hadn't eaten here for years even though it's so close to home. The menu was great and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was brilliant and very attentive and a few local restaurants could certainly learn how to treat diners by Rob and Vicky. We most certainly will be returning soon and strongly recommended people to give this place

Excellent venue. Experienced front of house staff, made us feel welcome. Service was faultless. Food was delicious..we all (6) had the Sunday roast. The lamb was pink and very good...the veg were crisp and perfectly cooked ãl dentê... Yorkshire pudding excellent! A thoroughly enjoyable meal .

My husband and I had a fantastic meal here while staying at Ruthin Castle. This place is truly a hidden gem. The team were very knowledgeable about allergies and assured us that care would be taken in the kitchen to prepare our food. The portions were generous and the marmalade ice cream was out of this world!

Arrived today for pre booked Sunday lunch on the back of recommendations and we were blown away The place itself is a gem ,so warm and welcoming ,so relaxing Our Sunday lunches were outstanding both in quality and taste and I opted for a sweet ..apple crumble and it took was awesome The quality of the service ,from welcome ,to finish was the icing on the cake ,the two young gentleman in our attendance were so warm ,polite and made you feel special and that is why , altogether,you must expect his wonderful place

Food: would really recommend the Welsh steak burger. My partner doesn't typically like beef burgers but loved this dish. Every component was delicious. The seafood paella wasn't amazing but still good. The desserts options are great. Service: really friendly service, took great care of our dog and brought biscuits and water. Atmosphere: we booked via the website/email which was very easy to arrange. Was seated in the "dog friendly" area so had the whole area to ourselves. Very nice place.

Excellent. First time we called on speck. No tables available but the brilliant batrman booked us a table elsewhere!! So this time we booked. The menu is soooo good that even a fussy eater like me could find several choices (a definite change). And to top it off the most amazing dessert (I'm not a very big eater and certainly rarely go for a pudding). How I managed the journey home I don't know I was?so full!! However I slept better than I have for a long time. Don't miss this gem.
