White Hart Inn in Amber Valley

First time visit and well pleased with the food quality, choice and price. Nice ‘traditional pub restaurant’ feel and very good staff and service. We will be back.

We called in on spec for an early evening meal on our way back home from Derby. Excellent visit throughout from easy parking outside the door (register your car on the ipad on entry), friendly welcome and help with choice of drinks. Although there was little info on Google etc to say so the pub is very dog friendly. Fairly quiet at 6pm on a Monday evening. The food was delicious, nice salmon dish with a side of Caesar salad and superb Picante pizza with side of truffle fries. Nice cosy place, we will definitely return.

I collected my 13 year old grand daughter from a private party held in this pub and was fined for using their car park. I was there 11 mins. I contacted the pub and they hung up on me and then refused to answer the phone again. I would not recommend this service to anyone.

Lovely pub!! We used The White Hart as a venue for our "day 2" wedding celebrations. I couldn't fault it. Communication was great upon booking, staff were wonderful on the day and the food was great (and very reasonably priced). A special thank you to both Grace and Anna who made the entire thing seamless!

Really great location, with off street parking and easy pedestrian access of Town Street in centre of village. An outdoor menu board would be helpful/draw in more customers. - always an efficient and warm welcome - extensive menu and wine list + bar drinks - excellent food, well presented, always hot; always tasty - nice garden seating and dinning area 👌 = always a pleasure to visit

The upstairs function room was a perfect spot to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. The stairs were a bit of a challenge for her but once in the room everything was to hand including the toilet facilities and the bar. We particularly enjoyed the lounge area where we could relax with a drink before sitting at the table for our meal. The food was to a high standard and the staff attentive. Nobody was in a rush to leave after the meal and staff were happy for us to take our time.

Arrived at 11.50 and rather abruptly advised they didn't open until 12 so we had to stand outside in the rain for 10 minutes. Not a great start, we could have walked away. Food ok but overpriced for portion size. The main issue we had was that it was cold. Several people sat eating with their coats on. Not ideal. Don't think we'll be going back.

Well..... struggling to articulate our experience today.... we ordered food, and drinks, sat outside for a leisurely late lunch. Families about enjoying the same. Then at a rapid decent.... 33 children from different families, with absent parents, allowed them to take over the beer garden..... throwing a rugby ball, kicking a football, dogeball (which hit me twice and the table behind me more!) Throwing stones, then took delight in picking up snails and drop kicking them against the wall!!!! I felt like I was in an amalgamation of a play centre and a McDonald's birthday party! Fed up with dodging multiple balls and stones, we left our food and departed! It was quite an incredible scene. As frequent, local customers, we will go elsewhere!!!

Tuesday 16th April 2024, after visiting Kedleston Hall, we collected our car from the car park and then we drove to Duffield. We arrived at 5.45pm, and parked out car in a side street (pubs car park was being resurfaced) and walked to ‘The White Hart’ where we were going for Susan’s Birthday Celebration dinner. We entered this warm and welcoming establishment. We were shown to a very nice table close to a roaring log fire, which was really nice. Our waitress was Twi, she was lovely and friendly and she was professional in everything she did for us. We were given menus to peruse and then we ordered our food and drinks. The food when it arrived was very hot and very well presented. My husband had chicken in a tarragon and mushroom just with tender stem broccoli, peas and a Confit of garlic and herb mash, which he said was delicious. Susan and I had pork medallions in a Dijon beurre blanc sauce with Dauphine potatoes, caramelised apples, French beans and a honey and mustard glazed crackling, which we both said was delicious. We washed all this lovely food down with a gin and tonic and a large glass of Pinto Grigio white wine for Susan, a large chilled glass of Chardonnay white wine for me and a pint of ‘AH! UP!’ bitter for my husband.. We all had desserts: My husband had crème brulee, Susan had the lemon tart with a blackcurrant sorbet and I had the chocolate and hazelnut mousse with Chantilly cream, which was delicious. We did not bother we any teas or coffee after as we were all well fed and contented. It was the first time we had been here. This is a wonderful place to visit with lovely food, staff and atmosphere and we will be back in the not to distant future.

Don't dare park here! 14 mins cost me £100. Very unhappy that a single coke costs this much. Poor form indeed and shame as the pub is ok

From having a fantastic time and excellent meal, i am now absolutely shocked to have received a parking fine for £100, for parking in what is the pub car park, On arrival we struggled to find a parking space and didn't see any signs about parking fines, no sign on the way in and when entering the pub through the back door, nobone member of staff informed us of entering reg into a tablet etc.... I'm absolutely shocked at this and after spending quite a bit of money in the actual pub itself i find this really unfair.

As always at The White Hart we had a fabulous evening and delicious meal. Service was excellent and I’d like to say how particularly helpful our waitress Caitlin was! Can’t wait to eat there again next time we are in the area! Highly recommend it !

This was our second visit, we returned because menu offers a good selection and the food is presented and tastes really good.It’s got that pub feeling that makes a relaxed atmosphere, the service ( Grace this time) is attentive and what you like to see.We hope to return in the future.

Good food and great service. We booked a table for 8 people on a busy Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. We did have to pre-ordered but that’s not a problems. We all had a good meal and reasonably priced. Molly looked after us so very well (genuinely helpful and friendly) along with the brilliant and friendly manageress and good service makes all the difference. Many thanks to the White Hart team.

We arranged to meet another couple at The White Hart for our first dining experience there. I’d called in for a drink recently and liked the general ambience, so thought we’d give them a try for lunch. What a fantastic experience it turned out to be. The menu was one that left you undecided as there were so many lovely options to choose from. The food was delicious, all served piping hot and within a reasonable amount of time despite the restaurant being extremely busy. Our server was a lovely gentle Asian lady, whose name we sadly didn’t note, but she was very attentive without being intrusive, which was just the right balance. Though we paid for our drinks at the bar, we were still very pleasantly surprised by the bill for two courses each plus coffees which came in at just over £100. Our first visit will certainly not be our last and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a special dining experience.

Fabulous service from initial enquiry to the actual event. A party of ten for lunch to celebrate my father’s 90th birthday. The food was excellent and the service from the people behind the bar, the waiting on staff and the management as a team was first class.

Visited for Valentine’s Day meal. The service from start to finish was amazing and the food was delicious. We have visited this pub several times and is now our 1st choice when eating out.

Lovely lunch yesterday to celebrate my daughters birthday. The food was great, the atmosphere was brilliant and the service from Molly was excellent.

The White Hart offers the very best Sunday lunch carvery if you can get in! The place is consistently buzzy and lively and has great customer service. The pub offers a great choice of meats and vegetables, cooked beautifully and as it should be with huge Yorkshire Puddings! This revue is for the Sunday lunch but the food is also exceptional the rest of the time from the restaurant menu. Give it a whirl it’s a little gem.

Just received a parking ticket for £100. A shame as my friends and I had a lovely evening eating here. I’ve always used the car park and never had to seek authorisation before. I didn’t see any signs. It was dark and I was only concentrating on finding a space. No -one asked me at the bar if I had a car which would have helped.

Our visit with friends was on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was extremely busy, as it always is because it is so popular. The staff were very friendly and attentive with nothing being too much trouble. The food was served with enough time between courses to digest, but not having to wait too long. The waitress kept asking if we needed any more drinks, which saved us from having to keep asking. All in all, it was a lovely evening. Don't go on a Saturday evening though if you want a quiet meal for 2 😉

A lovely place. Bar staff really great. However the food was not really great. Calamari starter not crisp at all. Mushroom on sourdough.. absolutely drowned in sauce making the sourdough really soggy. Not enough mushrooms and far and away too much sauce. Main course.. fish curry … very very bland. No spices. Fish and chips ok but nothing special. Had a lovely afternoon but wouldn’t return as the quality and taste of the food was less than anticipated.

We booked for a meal to surprise my mum for her 70th. On the booking I requested a table with plenty of space for my father who’s disabled and in a warm spot which we got. When we arrived I explained to the waitress how my brother and niece had come over from America to surprise my mum. Unfortunately I didn’t catch the ladies name but she was so helpful, kind and even moved her car in the carpark to accommodate my father and his wheelchair. The food was amazing, everyone at the table had different meals but each one was fabulous. The pub is warm, welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back.
