Fabulous food! Great atmosphere, family friendly! Highly recommended

First time here food is amazing bar staff are great definitely be coming back

My wife and I, along with my mother decided to give the White Hart a try for some lunch yeaterday. The food was very nicely cooked,nice and hot and served within approx 20 min of ordering. We were all very pleased with the service we received and the whole experience means we shall be re-visiting very soon. Thank you for a lovely lunch.

Called in on 16th June during a visit to Chesterfield. Lovely welcoming place. The food was great, and service was excellent. Will definitely recommend.

Went for a family Sunday lunch yesterday booked at the last minute, it was relatively quiet but it was 2pm and the afternoon of the Wimbledon final and we had the impression it may well have been busy earlier. We all enjoyed our food - one hunter's chicken and three carveries (one chose a small plate dinner, but had plenty on it!) Staff were helpful and one in particular was very friendly. The carveries were not quite hot by the time we ate so they happily warmed them up for us and then very kindly knocked some money off the bill (we hadn't asked them to). It's quite some time since we last went, but would happily go again soon.

Very dog friendly, which for us is a bonus. Also, a nice walk from home for exercise with the dog. Not busy when we visited just after midday. Bar snack meals we had were OK.

Fantastic venue with amazing food , customer service outstanding

Had an excellent meal, partner had lasagne which looked lovely and she said tasted beautiful. I had steak and ale pie with the dripping and merlot gravy which was perfect. Also accompanied by great service and have to admit the young lad behind the bar poured me an absolute masterclass of a Guinness. All around great pub, great food warm and friendly with great staff!

First time been since new owners took over. Was brought here for Father's day by my children and grandchildren. Very disappointed - anaemic Yorkshire pudding out of a packet and sloppy overcooked veg . Previous owners made their own Yorkshire's which were delicious and veg was always just right. Doubt we will come again.

Friendly staff who got our drinks food order and to a table pretty quickly.We all had the Sunday carvery which was very good ,the leeks and cabbage could've been a bit less crunchy but overall it was a good plateful.

Had a lovely meal, served by good staff, at reasonable prices. We arrived just before last meal orders on a Saturday but were met with smiles and no problem comments. No one was pushy. Shame about the inconsiderate twonks out side playing loud music.

Would recommend it. I will definitely go again.

Good pub food, cheerful friendly staff

Food was disgusting over cooked deep fried, servec on kids plates. Paid 40 pound and never received puddings but was charged for them. Very slow service and very over priced for the quality of the food. Won't be coming again

Went for a carvery on mother's day. First time visit Great service and staff. The food was really nice just som veg could have done with cooking a bit longer as was slightly under done. But was still very nice would absolutely recommend and will be going again. A great dining experience.

Very slow service 😴 with hardly any one in waited over half an hour not a good experience.

We live in the area and this was our first visit to The White Heart in Calow. The new owners were friendly and welcoming and directed us to the restaurant area of the pub. The room was clean and decorated nicely. We were given menus and made our choices. The food was hot, presented well and there was plenty of it and we didn’t have to wait too long for it to be served. Whilst eating, we were asked if all was ok, and then we were left to enjoy our lunch. The only criticism I have is that the dining room chairs were all very wobbly… something that can be fixed easily. We will definitely eat there again and we wish the new owners all the best for their future at The White Heart.

Booked for valentines meal, made out they were busy on the phone but when we arrived we were the only ones eating. The deep fried mushroom starters were over fried and like bullets. There were no steaks and no mixed grills available. My steak pie was cold when I opened it. The excuse was the oven was playing up but looking at the past reviews other people have commented on cold and uncooked food. We were given a 10% discount for a dismal night. We will not be going again. Shame as it was a great restaurant before it was took over.

We didn't visit at all because you failed to respond to our booking request and so had to go elsewhere instead.

Staff extremely welcoming and friendly. As a party of 9 there wasn’t one complaint. Food was lovely. Portion sizes big. Highly recommend and will be returning. 10/10 from us.

Nice pub with a decent drink selection but a little confusing if they offer food now as its advertised all over the place but the restaurant side was closed off and nothing on the hot plate so just asked for a packet of crisps with our drinks. I remember visiting here a few months ago and was told at that time there was no food on offer as the chef had left so not sure if he's been replaced so would check before visiting if you are wanting food.

Called in here for a meal and a drink, waited about 45 mins for fish and chips the chips and peas were ok but only half of the fish was cooked thro, I suspect it hadn't been defrosted enough and not cooked long enough.

90 minute wait for food, cold when came out, 10 min wait to be served at bar. Under filled drinks. Would NOT recommend!!!! Worse, steak ever had!!!! Could not eat.

Went for christmas day lunch never again waited nearly 2 hours for main meal loads of tables in front still waiting for food when some came out people sending it back walked out without a christmas day dinner never again

We had a calvery , it was cold the meat was fatty . Very disappointed. The service wasn't very good either . I would have told them if they had bothered to ask .

I found that the food was shocking a large got the same amount of meat as the regular the sprouts was near enough raw they was solid we was fetched out a very small plate of vegetables for a large plate and a regular the only bit I enjoyed was the Yorkshire pudding I will not be returning was expecting a carvery I have been here many times before and enjoyed the food but this time will be my last thanks

Excellent Sunday roast brought to the table. Didn't wait long and the food was very good. Good value. Had many Sunday roasts in the White Hart this was by far the best.

Visited the new landlady here today. They catered for our 12 person booking that they didn’t know about, as I booked it before they took over. Food was lovely, we will be visiting again.

Worst Sunday dinner! We where served a plate full of water cabbage and green beans which were cold a scoop full of lumpy cold mash! Enough meat to feed my 3 year old grandchild ( we arnt big eaters at all, but come on) and a cold Yorkshire pudding! Water gravy that was they only thing hot!!! Nice price for Yorkshire pud meat and gravy we ate!

An absolutely awful Sunday carvery. The (unnecessarily salty) gammon had to be effectively cut with a hacksaw and the beef was grey. Poor selection of veg and of the frozen variety. Mashed potato lumpy, stuffing rock hard and the gravy like water. And the kicker was the fact it was served cold. I never knew this was a thing!. I now understand why you pay for the food upfront as their till would be empty at the end of the day. The staff are friendly though

Family of six) walked in to be completely ignored, so we walked to the bar to tell them we’ve book a table, for them to part do the drink order then leave us and start severing someone other group of people, then ask us if we wanted to go to table they assumed we was having a roast. For us to sort ourself out then we was told we’d have to order our meals at the bar to wait 10mins to be seen again! All meat was fatty. Mash was just warm. Veg was like mush, the gravy was water. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone

I was a lone diner placed next to the bar with a bunch of football supporters watching a world cup game right next to me. It was not a relaxing environment. Next time I will ask to be seated in a dining rather than the bar area.

Really friendly staff, Justin took the time to come and introduce himself, waitress was really lovely and came back to ask if all was ok, but like she meant it, not just because she had to. Food was really tasty, best hunters chicken I’ve had, chicken was lovely and moist yet the bacon was nice and crunchy (not over cooked), with just the right amount of cheese and bbq sauce, so it didn’t over power..prices are really reasonable too… really excellent visit, will defo come again. I have visited for lunch today taking an elderly lady with mobility issues. From when we arrived I the car park we were given amazing customer service to make our visit as easy as possible . Four was prompt and lovely . We will certainly visit atain

Always come to the white hart on a Friday for the quiz night! Amazing times had, can't express how much the staff are good at their jobs!! Laughter all round, free chip butties at half time. Even a few cheeky wins on the sticky bingo!! All the staff are very welcoming especially Jo!

I would like to thank the manager and his staff for catering for my mum's 80th Birthday party 22/07/23. They all went above and beyond to make it very special for her, the buffet was beautiful and plentyful for the 40 guests that came. The choices of beers was fantastic and reasonably priced. I would recommend the White Hart at Calow 100% to everyone Can't thank them enough, we all had a fantastic time

I the warmest welcome of all the staff , the one pub you can go in on your own and the staff have a conversation with you and make you feel like you fit in , also tried the food the steak were cooked bloody lovey melted in your mouth. Popped in twice this week on my time off from work which says a lot about the place. Good all rounder.

Been today for a carvery with family. Food was amazing no complaints from any of us. The chef natasha even went out of her way to prepare my son who is dairy free his own portion of mash so he wasn't left out. Highly recommended and will definitely be going again

First time visit today and all the staff very friendly professional and their appearance and uniform was outstanding. The choice of meats and the quality of the vegetables was second to none. We as a family of 8 we most certainly be revisiting in the week and next carvery

We visited the White Hart at Calow on a Tuesday evening to take advantage of one of their mid week offers. We received a very warm, friendly welcome from all the staff and we enjoyed our meals which were reasonably priced. The food was delicious, the main meal portion sizes were spot on and the dessert portions were very generous. We will definitely be revisiting very soon. Well done team, Keep up the good work👍

Well what can I say! I don’t even think 1 star!! Went to have a meal with my other half, we place an order of starters and mains and a drink only to be told that all 3 of the foods were off the menu so we had another look but decided that there wasn’t anything else we wanted! The I presume manager then approached us to ask if I was ordering and when I told him we had but the food we had ordered was not available and we would not be eating he basically told us to pay for our drinks and go not exactly like that but that’s what is what he ment so really won’t be going there again 1st and last was laughable 😆😆

Food was okay but it's not home cooked. Frozen chips, frozen peas, gravy was a bit thin. It's a shame because I've been on a Sunday and that's all fresh food.

Lovely pub very friendly staff,they had a car event on the car park on Sunday as we drove past in our classic camper called in very well organised and free chip butty would definitely go back to just have a drink and try a meal x
