Very friendly accomodating staff when we turned up with 3 wheelchairs.

Food was delicious - it was quiet but really lovely food and the staff were very friendly.

Fantastic pub food, we stopped on way past, not knowing what to expect but it was fantastic.

Great pub, we stopped in as we were going to the garden centre and just noticed it next door. Great food, large portions seemed home cooked the Sunday lunch was great only wish I had room for pudding.

Absolutely lovely place. We stopped their whilst touring Yorkshire and so glad we did. We had a lovely and plentiful meal. Very tasty cooked to perfection and a cheeky wee dessert to follow. The two ladies that were on duty were very professional and attentive. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back in to visit.... 10/10

We stopped off here for lunch after visiting the Kirklees Estate. There was ample car parking space, and the entrance had good, easy disabled access. What can I say; the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, and the "Old Mill" bitter was on great form. I would certainly visit them again when I'm in the area. 10/10.

Really enjoyed our meal. I did check reviews that were not too promising but noted there had been an owner change , so I would give them a chance & a good choice. From the moment we walked in & greeted by pleasant staff. Not rushed to place our food order, food very nice & a very reasonable price. Definitely a place to return to. Thank you.

Brought my hubby here for a Sunday lunch for fathers day well we weren't disappointed the food was cooked to perfection all home cooked too the staff were pleasant and helpful a nice clean beautiful pub thank you to all staff xxxx

1st visit and we went midweek. Was nice and quiet. Pub is nice and clean. Staff were nice and polite. The food was fresh and good. I had pie and homemade chips with peas. Lovely! Watched as another family ordered burgers and they looked amazing 👏

We stopped of for a bite to eat and a drink this afternoon. Had a great pint of Old Mill Bitter and we had selection of starters which were all great; the Yorkshire puddings in onion gravy were especially good!

just been to the whitegate for lunch and the landlord had just taken over yesterday 24/04 the food was delicious and didnt have to wait a lifetime to be served they were friendly and attentive hope you have a long stay here thank you c&k brooke

Very impressed with the white gate. Starts with a warm welcome, then gets better. Great choice of food and drink. Really prompt service. The food was freshly cooked, really tasty, plenty of it and really good value.

We called in for a cheeky drink before my birthday meal, their card machine wasn't working we had no cash on us so we had to leave our details and pop back later with cash. Very inconvenient they should have a back up machine, and who carries cash these days. Duncan and Helen

Took my daughter for lunch today. In comparison to what it was like a couple of years ago when the food was piping hot and delicious, unfortunately the food today left a lot to be desired. Gammon was lovely, as were the wedges, but peas were like bullets, the lasagne was burnt, rest of the veg were Luke warm. Hardly anyone in, used to be busy. We won't revisit.

The burger was nice, especially with the extra bacon which was nicely crisped. And the onion rings! Really nice, hard to find quality onion rings that are crispy and not greasy. Those were perfect. Thank you!

Excellent food and service can't fault the place

Absolutely ridiculous service, we were served a steak cut up into thin slices and when asked for a full steak we were refused - they said that it is all cooked fresh if this is the case why couldn't we have a full steak?

I was charged for 2 drinks I did not have.

Went white gate with my sister and grandparents, really enjoyed it. The food was spot on well worth the price. Absolutely no complaints and would definitely visit again. Infact my grandma wishes to go for Christmas dinner. Will say that it's a nice quiet place and parking decent.

A friendly pub with attentive service. The landlord is the cook and created 3 superb meals for 3 hungry travellers. The burger and haddock in Old Mill bitter batter were delicious but for me the Indian twist to the tuna steak was the tops!

Had a great experience. Cask beer is on point and nice that it was from an independent brewery. Food was outstanding, I will be going back with the family. Staff were all excellent. It was my first visit and I was made to feel welcome. The chips are outstanding!

Just been here for a family celebration, one of our sons has just got engaged. The food was absolutely delicious and great portion size too. Very well priced too. The staff are really friendly and made us feel welcome and advised us what was on the menu and what the specials were for today, nothing was too much trouble for them, they kept asking if everybody was ok and if the food was ok, no complaints from anyone. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left we were treated well. Couldn’t recommend it enough, very happy full customers. Will definitely return.

First time here with new owners and am glad to say they are trying hard to build a decent following of people who like fresh cooked food served with smile .we will be back soon

We thought we'd give The White Gate a try after not being for years after a bad experience and I will admit they didn't dissapoint, the food was to die for and the service was amazing. I can't wait to try the Sunday lunch 😍

The food was great the steak was just cooked right and the triple cooked chips were delicious nice to have a pub on our doorstep with good home cooked food let’s hope it stay this way

Came to visit the pub on my way home from Leeds.The staff were very attentive and helpful and the food was very good I had the steak which was cooked just the way I like it and my mother had the burger with a side of blue cheese sauce which she said was incredible.If I ever find myself in the area again I will be popping back :) xx

We had the Sunday roast,my husband had daddy lunch as it was father's day.freshly made and hot,it was delicious,we declined a dessert as we were full.staff very welcoming, friendly.service and timings good

I went here for a family meal. The pub looked nice and the service was ok. As for the food it wasn't the best. The garlic mushroom starter was bits of mushroom in a cream sauce that don't taste of much. I had a burger for my main I cut into it and it wasn't cooked and was cool to touch. The chips were cold on all 3 meals. The veg was over cooked on the roast dinner. The chicken and mushroom pie was over cooked and had no filling really. I was disappointed and wouldn't go back or recommend.

Had a lovely meal at white gate pub, well worth a visit, the meal was great and great choice for me been a vegetarian, and will definitely be visiting again now they will have more martini in for me, thankyou

Called on Thursday around 5.15, very friendly and excellent service. Food was hot and tasty. I hadn't had liver and onions for years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am told the burger with salad, coleslaw and fries was good, it certainly looked the part. Will be returning soon on a lunchtime.

Used to be a great place to eat, it's more like frozen food prepared and not fresh. Used to have homemade Yorkshire pudding but now pre-made one's from supermarket

Been once before and had a great experience with great food and service. Took my family today and was so pleased, I felt I had to leave a review. Fabulous food, plenty of it and served in ample time. One server today who was absolutely relaxed, busy, friendly and pretty blooming brilliant! Great experience and we all left very happy.

Always made to feel welcome and the food is delicious, especially the fish pie. Can't wait for our next visit.

Disappointed to see they had changed the menu from the first time we called which we really enjoyed,on this occasion we walked out without dinning this could be purely personal choice of food but thought the original menus and smaller dishes were very good .

Went for lunch today after reading some positive reviews. Has been years since we have been as the food was previously mediocre at best. However I believe it has new owners and the food was lovely! I had Quorn cottage pie and my husband chilli, and both portions were huge and really tasty. Good value for money and we will be back.

The lady behind the bar is lovely and efficient. They have a large menu and this is well priced. We had a long wait for our main course but this was due to somebody stealing a member of staffs phone and the staff dealing with that. The lady that served our food was very apologetic and offered us free drinks. We thought that was a lovely touch and we declined as it wasn't necessary. The chips were gorgeous and home made . The peas were cooked well. For £5.95 you couldn't go wrong really. The only thing was last time we came the chicken goujons we out of this world. This time they were like supermarket frozen goujons so I was a little disappointed but for the price what could I expect?! I would rather pay more and get the battered goujons though. All in all a lovely place to visit and we will be back

We live 5 minutes walk away from the pub. Last time we went was well before Covid and they didn't have many items on the menu. This happened more than once so we avoided it. So glad we gave it another try yesterday. 11 of us went for lunch. We all had different things and every plate was clean! Food was home made, well cooked and hot. It all came out together. Chips were home - cooked and aamazing! I thought the prices were very good too. Staff were friendly too. We'll be returning soon.

Visited after a 3 month absence overseas. Very disappointed as it seems to have lost its cheap and cheerful atmosphere. Under new owners/ management in the last 6 weeks. Prices of drinks have increased. 5 people turned away looking for food on a very hot Sunday afternoon at 5.30pm. Will it survive????

Very disappointed this time landlords have changed and the chefs have gone. ..we will go back when they get it sorted.

Magnificent food and a very warm welcome. Menu choice is excellent and prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be returning. The Landlord Matthew really makes you feel welcome. We travelled 30 minutes to get there as our friends had been last weekend and said we had to try. Well worth the journey. Excellent quality, service and price.

Only dropped in for coffees but decided to stay & have a wine, all very reasonably priced. The food that we saw looked good so we checked out the menu & will definitely be going back to eat.
