Excellent service and good food.

Local british friends arranged to eat Saturday dinner here. Great ambience, v good service. Food is good and v well catered for standard British palate / expectation; as an ethnic Chinese it's (as expected) bland unadventurous and not a single dish worthy of note - but by no means a criticism nor expectation for this locality.

The food was delicious and the staff were very nice and accommodating. We went on a busy night but really enjoyed the food and prices were great.

This has to be the best Chinese restaurant in Huddersfield! Amazing food and amazing service would definitely recommended.

Stopped off here before going to a gig at the Holmfirth Picturedome and wow it didn't disappoint the food was absolutely amazing, very tasty and great portion sizes we will definitely be back

I had without doubt the worst Beef and Mushroom that has ever been served up to a customer. It was swimming in vile smelling cold oil ABSOLUTELY disgusting. Will NEVER go to Canton Chef Honey again. If I could give no stars I would. 🤢🤮

We ordered takeaway on a Saturday night so fair enough you know it will take a while but it took 2.5 hours to be delivered. When I called after 1.5 hours they said the kitchen was cooking it now but it still took another hour. When the food finally arrived it was a huge disappointment. My special chow mein was basically thin boiled noodles, boiled veg, 1 prawn, 2 bits of chewy pork and some very questionable grey chicken. So bland as to be almost inedible. My friend’s kung po chicken wasn’t kung po chicken and was also unpleasant. The prawn crackers were nice though so the only reason worthy of a 1 not a zero. Oh and it was really expensive especially for the poor quality. Won’t order from here again.

dreadful experience Took two hours to come, said food was leaving after we called, but then took a further 30 mins despite being a 5 minute drive away! Food was poor, bland, tasteless. The chow mein was watery and slimy. It cost 50% more than other Chinese’s for 50% smaller portion sizes! Disappointing as was looking forward to The Canton Chef as it looked great online, and with the prices you’d be expecting something great. The guys were great on the phone, the delivery driver was also great. But, in all, a really poor experience and we won’t be ordering from here again.

Love Canton... best food.. Always great food, lovely friendly staff, Can be really busy at times and you have to wait longer than told and can be a bit more expensive than ither places however it is 100% worth it!

Mediocre Chinese food at best, they also need to reconsider their price point. They seek to charge £68 for a duck and pancakes in a small village, which is a shocking amount. Even takeaways/restaurants in cities do not charge as high for that dish. We settled for half a duck at still an extortionate £35, and it was just okay but came with inadequate pancakes and sundries. Save yourself some money as there are a wealth of better Chinese restaurants in the Holme Valley.

Appalling would be an understatement. I would give it a zero if there was an option. Unfortunately didn’t read the recent reviews before ordering from here. Food was very oily, bland and tasteless. Extremely overpriced. Bad customer service with a rude man taking orders on the phone. I definitely would urge people to spend their money elsewhere.

Always very helpful and very good at preparing gluten free for coeliac people. Have a good understand about cross contamination and take it seriously

If a 0 was possible… then that would be my food rating for Canton Chef. We ordered Friday night, picked up no problems. On returning home we opened our food to what can only be described as oily tasteless and revolting food. The beef was absolutely appalling, the egg in the fried rice was as if it had been scraped off the bottom of an old pan, the duck, minimal, tasteless and very fatty. The salt and pepper chips were hideous just a mouth full of salt. We were so furious with the food we were tasting/looking at that it went straight into the bin and went for a plan B. Due to it being a half an hour round trip, we could not even be bothered to drive back and forth to drop off the vile food and get our money back (our choice) I would honestly say one of the worst Chinese take outs we have ever had. For the price, it left us speechless.

Distinctly average food. Manager was rude when I arrived to collect. Failed to even say thank you for payment. Very expensive given food is of such a basic quality.

A great Chinese take away, The food is always delicious and cooked to a high standard. Richard on reception is always friendly and professional. The prices are reasonable and I would highly recommend this Chinese restaurant/takeaway.

Ordered takeaway, food was nicely cooked but a little over flavoured for my personal taste. Food was delivered but they forgot our rice and no point in ringing as rest of the food would have been cold when rice would have arrived and we had sufficient food with what was delivered

Great service, very nice atmosphere, the place looks great. Music just right volume. Food great, my favourite is Sweet and Sour pork. Really enjoyable.

We ordered at 5.30, asking for delivery so they took our details, he said they would be as quick as they could. One and a half hours later my son decided to see how much longer it was going to be, and they said they were waiting for us to pick it up. It didn’t make sense what he was saying, he said there must have been a miscommunication well why would he ask for our address? So my son decided to go and pick it up in the end, there was a dish missing which belonged to my husband so he was not happy to say the least, we won’t be using Canton Chef again. Very disappointed!

Visited on Sunday food was poor and not cheap...customer service friendly but I had to ask waitress 3 times for order and the place was empty🤔will not be visiting again

Hit and miss, erratic food quality and content. ordered vermicelli singapore style take out, sometimes quite tasty comes with lots of prawns, pork and vegetables with the noodles, however twice I have got this now and its basically been a big pile of noodles with hardly any other ingredient which makes it very bland and is not a cheap dish at over £10, will probably not bother again as there's no knowing if it will be a good one or a poor one - dissapointing.

DO NOT ORDER. Decided to order here. After 45 mins..sorry 42 as i was corrected rudely on the phone we rang to check how long it would be. We were greeted with terrible customer service. The manager who we were talking to was incredibly rude. Food came another half hour later stone cold and tasted horrible. Delivery driver however was lovely.

First time we have been to Canton Chef for about 5 years . We chose a very busy Saturday night with all tables full and a very busy service . This taken into account we had a marvelous experience with great service ( with a smile ) and nice food . Even had a nice chat with the owner at the end . We will be back .

Excellent service, beautiful food, staff cannot do enough for you. Mentioned it was my brothers birthday and they brought out complimentary desert for him. Would absolutely recommend.

Very slow service... phoned for take away at 18:55, was told to collect at 20:00, arrived on time and paid for my meal, but didn't get it until 20:45! Unfortunately, the food was also disappointing.

The Canton Chef is very welcoming, from the layout on the tables and decor to the enthusiastically welcoming staff and management. But nobody wore masks at all and the waitresses came literally inches away from us as they served or cleared the table, leaning over to add or take from the people sat next to the wall. The food was very tasty but I had the fish hot pot which consists mainly (in order) of onions, beans, tofu, 4 prawns, 3 small rubber like pieces of squid and 2 scallops. For starters we had a mixed plater which said on the menu £8 (min 2 people) I quiried before ordering was that £8 each, and the waitress said no it's for 2 people. When the bill came it somehow cost £18. They knocked £2 off. Apart from this I would go back again and just order differently as the overall attentiveness of the staff and atmosphere was really good.

Nice staff but I'm afraid its expensive for very average food and agree with another reviewer that the chicken is very rubbery.

Definitely a six stars out of five, the beef and green peppers in black bean sauce was perfect. Something simple like the portion of mushrooms was extra special with little bits of vegetables ( we don't get that back home ). Friendly staff and quick service, what more could you ask for.

Very nice Beef Chow Mein and Foo Yung dishes. Po Po chicken is my go-to dish when I can't decide. With or without small green chillies..too piquant for me!

This place was bang on tonight. Good fresh quality ingredients just the right amount of food. We went for the set meal for two.

Their home delivery service is diabolical. Used it twice and average time is 1 he 20mins.

First meal out since lockdown! Lovely dim sum and crispy chicken wings. So lovely to enjoy a beautifully cooked Chinese curry and lovely crispy duck. A few menu restrictions plus paper napkins and paper tablecloths but otherwise just as good as normal

Having recently gone pescatarian I thought I’d have to live without this restaurants fabulous Po Po sauce forever. But my Po Po king prawn last week was amazing. Really top notch food

The food here is great, the best chinese around by far. Portion sizes are good as are the prices. The service is brilliant, friendly staff who are quick and attentive.

Had a take away and disappointed. The compo chicken was just vegetables which looked like a bag you buy in a Supermarket with A broth added after .. no depth of flavour and again ribs were cooked ok but flavour / sauce /was at bottom of take out container. Restaurant looked lovely and very busy but at best no better than average take away and expected better.honley is lovely place and would love to see a better Chinese restaurant in the village

Amazing service and delicious food

Called tonight on a whim and was lucky enough to get a table for two in a busy restaurant. Only had soup and starters, but both were excellent. The restaurant is beautifully appointed in white leather with matching white table cloths It's worth a visit just to sit in such comfortable surroundings Great food, surroundings together with charming staff made this suprise meal for my wife very enjoyable.

Very enjoyable meal, went for the meal for two and asked for one of the dishes to be changed. No problem and the food was excellent.

Lovely service and delicious food, my dish, the seafood hotpot was quite large and very tasty, the people with me had regular dishes and rice to share and although the food was excellent the portions were a little small; they ended up finishing mine! We felt the prices didn't completely match the sizes. Would recommend it though.

We took our little girl for her 7th birthday and they made her night very special. Some of the most friendly staff I've ever been served by in any restaurant - highly recommended.
