Whistlestop Cafe in Denbighshire

Sad to see a few negative reviews, as I have always found the service, welcome and food very satisfying. Apparently, improvements have been made regarding a supplier, and it is back to it's best. I have only one problem, and that is the lack of parking spaces, with only one disabled spot. Being on a small industrial park, the other businesses guard their own parking places zealously! That is the one negative for me, and I go as often as I can.

Used to come all the time, last couple of times we’ve been this year we’ve found the foods been poorer quality and the prices have increased a couple of times yet the foods got worse. Sausages are super cheap, bacon is really fatty, microwaved watery scrambled egg. The windowsills were also covered in ants and dirt which put us off but tried to ignore it, I get ants get everywhere but there were lots of dead ones that could have been cleaned away regularly to avoid it looking unclean. Overall really gutting that this place isn’t what it used to be.

Went there. Had breakfast used to be a really good café the best café around used to go there with my dad enough every week at least once but yesterday when I went, there wasn’t impressed the sausages I don’t know where they get them from but they were either off or they are using cheap sausage Which really let it down for me so I won’t be returning

It`s such a shame about this place. We used to go regularly and had no complaints. It did what it said on the tin. I always like to give benefit of doubt because after spending 38 years in catering, at all levels, I do understand that some days you have better more capable staff than others. I can never understand why two meals ordered at the same time and both being breakfasts should arrive at the table eight minutes apart. I also understand that in these times of increased overheads that changes have to be made but not at the expense of the customers comfort. It is ALWAYS cold in there these days as the radiators have not been on for our last three visits. The staff were more interested in chatting together than getting on with things and the food is now expensive and no longer value for money. Our toast was put on the table within a minute of being ordered ,which is probably the reason it was cold. I don`t like giving bad reviews but please Whistlestop , it`s tough to keep customers when things are tight so BUCK UP YOUR IDEAS.

Just been to the cafe for a family lunch 7 members, went to the rear of cafe as was empty so moved 1 table about 12 inches closer to ours so we could sit together, then we where approached by the most rude obnoxious member of staff who basically shouted at us to move the table back the 12iches with no please thank you just MOVE THAT TABLE BACK and the face on it was unreal dont think she wanted to be work and don't think she should be front of house with manners like hers either, then wouldn't speak or look at me when complained to her about her manner

The basic breakfast was not value for money. The egg looked burnt. Cups of tea looked dirty. Service OK. Outside seating and parking which is free. Its a business park so no scenic views. I won't be returning.

Called for a late Saturday lunch and as a former biker felt at home. Good range of food on the menu and settled on sausage sandwich and cheese on toast. Both excellent. The cafe is on a small industrial estate and was found after consulting Tripadviser. Very happy we went.

Title says it all really, had the Full English and the missus had Omelette & Chips. Everything was cooked well, the chips were the hottest thing known to man and took a good 10min until they were edible as was the coffee, suppose this is a good thing. It's not gonna set your world on fire but is just an average greasy spoon and does an OK breakfast. These type of places are everywhere. There's no table service. You have to order yourself at the till and also get your own cutlery. My table had an empty pepper pot and the sugar shaker was missing, these things should be checked after every wipedown and replenish if necessary. Wouldn't go out my way to go back as there are places like this all over.

Always go here for breakfast and never had a bad meal. would definitely recommend for someone looking for a decent cafe

Having lived in Wales most of my life, then moving away, I had never found a breakfast that lived up to The Whistlestop Cafe. On a rare return 'home', I had to call in for a brekkie. I was not disappointed. It was every bit as good as I remember. The owner Barry, same as before was every bit as friendly and hospitable. You have to go!!!!

Order your food and drink and it is almost at your table before you get there! Brilliant system of giving the waiting on staff specific jobs. The young man delivering the tea/drinks I like a dynamo! The lovely food arrives soon after this. The staff are so industrious, quiet, and efficient. This really makes you feel like you are being served well and waited on. A benchmark for all other cafes.

This place was a god send to me and my wife when we had to stay at Glan Clwyd hospital when our daughter was born premature. We pop in yearly , thank you

Visited hoping to recieve the government's 50% eat out to help out scheme. Charing full price although they are listed on the Goverment's list of participating restaurants. When questioned the repsonse was "the owner made a mistake and it is not feasible". Very misleading for quite a few customer's who also believed they where participating after checking online. Maybe the "owner" should have their business removed, a sign up or even a notice on their FB page to avoid misleading customers further. Also NO MUSHROOMS & breakfast very greasy been visiting here for years but will not be going back!

Been coming here since they were in the old building across the way. Excellent food and excellent service in a clean and friendly cafe hidden away in a little industrial estate in rhudllan. Priced well and a good menu with free WiFi.

We have been going here for many years now, and the place never fails to satisfy, whether it's a full English or a snack, it will fill that gap. The full English will satisfy anyones appitite. Very reasonably priced basic nosh. Go on, give it a try.

Visited today for a family brunch. Same great service, same great food, and friendly staff. Excellent value for money, and they don't bat an eyelid when you state preferences off the menu. Until today, I didn't realise they did roast dinners! So that will be me coming back then! They deserve to do well, and the reason they have been successful for years are all listed above. Well done Whistlestop! I wonder what they would say to a request for extra roast potatoes.......

Some things just really are the real deal and this is one of them. Quality food at affordable prices. The staff are friendly, lovely clean tables and the same goes for the toilets too. You must visit here, I will certainly not be a stranger. The all day breakfast is a MUST!!

My family and I can’t get enough of this place- a does what it says on the tin, fantastic cheap breakfast with good coffee and staff that treat you like gold. Nothing fancy, no frills, good greasy fry ups.

Always been a regular at Wistlestop went last week with my husband food extremely greacy my plate swimming in oil used several napkins to mop it up! Never usually like this what makes it worse there were only 3 tables taken so very quiet. Ended up feeling very nauseous and upset tummy!

Looked a bit dark and dingy inside. However, we did not get served even though it said it was open until four o'clock. We called at 3.20 and were told they were not serving anymore. It was quite rudely announced with no apology. We will not be calling again.

Blinking rotten ugly food cold and the service was just had bad dirty tables not for me this place used to be really good but not anymore

We called into this little gem of a cafe whilst on a Royal Navy reunion last week. We met the owner Barry and he is a realy nice guy and has a lot of respect for veterans and serving personal. The food was top class and we where given a massive discount because we were veterans. Thank you for that Barry !! Every time I visit the Uk from Australia, I stop by and say hello to my old mate Baz. The foot is good the Cafe is clean and tidy, the staff are friendly.

Used this cafe for years but oh my it’s gone down hill rapidly the staff are rude bad chefs scrambled egg microwaved and rock solid no care taken Barry the owner needs to be aware when he’s not there awful service everything’s pre cooked then warmed up could not get a simple order right 4 times such a shame as I know the owner will be fuming !!!

Love this bikers cafe food is gorgeous staff are friendly and efficient, food hygiene rating of 5 , we had the all day breakfast they do full range of foods for every appetite. Food is delivered to your table presented well and hot, would highly recommend people visiting you will not be disappointed.

We have visited 'The Whistlestop' several times in the past few months, and have no complaints whatsoever. The All Day Breakfast is superb - (generous portions too) - with toast and a mug of tea/coffee included, in the price of around £6. It's a shame that this cafe is 15 miles away from our home, but we look forward to returning once again when we are next in the area.

Me and a friend visited on Jan 12th, as it was advertised as a biker cafe, so appealed to us as we were out riding. Lovely setting indoors and appeared busy which is always a good sign. We ordered 2 full English breakfasts however when I went to pay was told that card payment wasn’t accepted, not a big deal I nipped and got cash out. Our food arrived and was absolutely exceptional. Cooked to perfection, that I give 5 stars.

Heard plenty of good things about whistle stop cafe, but only just got round to visiting, my neighbour is a regular and insisted I try it, so where else to celebrate our sons GCSEs results, straight to whistlestop for breakfast, we all ordered different meals from sausage sandwich, breakfast bap( which was mine and was ace) small breakfast an my son had full English. Wow our drinks were with us within minutes an all the meals came at same time, all looked Great an we all enjoyed them.

What a lovely, friendly place this is. With pleasant, friendly, helpful staff.

This is the first time I've been to this cafe, well what can I say the food is cooked to order and presentation is great, I don't think I have had such a great breakfast in a long time will definitely be going back it was fantastic, I had the belly buster and it does what it says very filling.

Allways a first class meal . We visit at least once a month . Quality never faulters would highly reccomend...

Its always a struggle finding suitable places to eat when you are following a Slimming World plan - too many hidden fats/carbs, etc. It was a delight to find this meal, trimmed grilled bacon, two poached eggs, baked beans, grilled fresh tomatoes and a mug of tea. Wholemeal toast (dry) was optional. I have enjoyed several of these low fat breakfasts recently, not all on the same day of course! I have also taken friends here to sample this particular dish too. Thank you Whistlestop for providing a lovely meal in a pleasant setting, nothing is ever too much bother. I will be back!

Often pop in for a weekend breakfast. Standard of food consistently good. Always made to feel welcome and staff will always try and change/swap items if there's something you don't like.

Fuimos a la visita relámpago por primera vez y me encantó! Muy buen ambiente en el lugar y un personal excelente. Cuando llegamos pedimos comida y, aunque estaba lleno, había una muy corta espera. Pedimos una tarta, patatas fritas, guisantes y la salsa. Para mi sorpresa cuando resultó que había una gran cantidad de alimentos con am excelente! Sólo esperaba una tarta bastante normal, pero lo que presentamos me llevó mucho por sorpresa. Una gran tarta, bien con una corteza agradable y una gran ración de salsa. Yo recomendaría este lugar a cualquiera y con la sensación de hambre, pasando!

Fuimos allí para un desayuno inglés, la tostada salió primero y luego por el tiempo que el desayuno salió terminado todas las tostadas. Finalmente llegó el desayuno, granos, salchichas y patatas pestañas eran bonitas, lo único que me decepcionó fue el tocino. Era extremadamente salado y muy graso. También me pareció que era un poco caro para la cantidad que no tienes en el plato. Creo que es mi primera y última vez aquí por desgracia.

We visited Whistlestop Café for lunch. It’s a café we have been going to for years and love it! The café can only be described as a ‘greasy spoon’ hidden on an industrial estate by Rhuddlan. It is definitely a hidden gem and worth visiting.On this occasion we ordered a range of meals, everything from Jacket potato to children’s sausage and chips. We all ate everything and really enjoyed it. It is fairly well priced and you get big portions for your money.The decoration of the place is very old school and looks a bit shabby in places but that is what adds to the charm of the café. It is very popular with bikers and families alike and can get quite busy at times.I would definitely recommend a visit to anyone wanting a nice independent café for lunch.

Heard great reviews about this place and never tried till Saturday myself.. Been and had breakfast at quite a few places over the years never get what you ask for till this place!! Ordered the belly buster breakfast with crispy bacon and egg yolk broken and cooked both sides nice to get what you order so many cafes don't listen and your breakfast served in a flash and not cooked as you ask !!! Will definitely be returning can see why so busy well deserved

absolutely wonderful. The staff are brilliant the cook cant do enough for instance I (as a joke) asked for a meal not on the menu and they just said yes OK, and I really enjoyed it. Why cant more café and restaurants take a leaf out of their books.. Atmosphere is great too. Interesting café..

Every year my mates and I call in here for a breakfast on our weekend away, and every year, without fail, we get served efficiently, with good, honest fry-ups and brews. A proper cafe, keep it up. See you next February!

A bikers cafe, run brilliantly and with great cafe food. I've had several breakfasts here and have never been disappointed in the quality or the value. Good friendly staff and with an added bonus of opening at 7am. It's a place worth going to again and again

Our first visit and not disappointed. We managed to park outside when visited between Christmas and New Year. Not sure what parking is like in the working week when all the units are open, as is on an industrial estate. Tables were clear/clean, it was busy but we got a suitable table. Menu's on the table and easy enough to work out how to order (find a table, choose off menu and go to the till to order and pay). We liked that you paid first, so you can just up and leave when you're ready. Service was friendly and efficient. Good mug of tea and toast included in the breakfast we ordered. A good sized breakfast with perfect runny egg (no uncooked white). There were plenty of customers ordering to take away too.Would certainly recommend and will be back.

It's a happening place is the Whistlestop Cafe; the North Wales Motorcycle Club have many of their activities there, and from a glance at the photographs on the walls it's clear to see the wonderful charitable work that goes on by local bikers. With a solidly good reputation, the Whistlestop Cafe can be busy, but never too busy to afford you the best of welcomes, a happy atmosphere and the most delicious of meals. You can always rely on it to be excellent!HEARTILY RECOMMENDED AS ONE OF THE BESTVisited many times - and it continues to be my absolute favourite.

Had seen the good reviews so we gave it a try one Sunday morning. It was nice enough but no big shakes?! On arrival no signs & noone said to order at counter then find a table, so we mistakenly expected a waitress & were gutted when we saw a big queue forming! Eventually we got to order our brekky lol.Reasonable prices.

Went for lunch whilst waiting for friend who was in nearby hospital. Ordered vegetarian breakfast for a change and my husband just wanted a snack so ordered him child portion sausage chips and peas, along with 2 milky coffees. All served quickly and freshly cooked. Everything tasty and hot. Staff extremely friendly and checked we had enough to eat and that everything was OK on 2 occasions. Could not fault anything.

Been here number of times as use to work around the corner this friendly bikers , workers cafe but always makes you feel welcome staff are great and friendly does good charity work as well promoting local events

My son and I decided to come here after ringing around and it was the first place that was open on bank holiday monday,our sole intention was to have a brekky, there was a choice between all day brekky and a belly buster, after seeing a belly buster come out for someone I swiftly decided to get an all day brekky as it looked far too much, and my son got the same, we waited about 10-15 mins for our food and the woman who served us said "ill get your toast now" we still hadn't had our cups of coffee at this point, the breakfast was disappointingly small for £5 I did expect a bit more or at least something on the menu a bit bigger but not a belly buster, we continued to eat our breakfast, still no toast and no drinks, I asked the girl who was serving could we have our drinks and she said ill get them now, then at least four people who came in and ordered 15 minutes after us were served their drinks almost immediately and that is something that really gets my goat considering I had just asked them for ours, I had pretty much finished before the drinks came only leaving a piece of egg a piece of bacon an half a sausage ready to eat with my toast which still hadn't arrived and I had to get up again to go and ask for it, the girl serving asked the girls cooking for two toast and I waited around 5 mins or more before it came out and at this time my food was cold, reading reviews on here people have complained about the drinks and toast coming out too early but ours was far far too late, the food quality was good quantity not so good, service was very poor having to get up and ask for things isn't acceptable, I don't want to be the first person to rate this place poor so I am giving an average rating as hopefully it was just a one off.

Came here for the second time, food was perfect. Great staff, food cooked to order, only waited about 10 minutes. Will definitely be going back. Prices are very reasonable.always very busy for breakfast.

Used this cafe several times over the past few weeks whilst working locally. A good all breakfast , but will agree with other reviews that tea and toast get served way before breakfast arrives. The guy at the till wants a lesson in customer service and should get out of the habit of messing with his hair. As they say you never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression. Food however pretty good, given use of basic ingredients. 2 egg omelette was cooked to perfection. Overall a good clean cafe. But young staff need to experience the service for themselves and improvements needed would become obvious.

Came here for breakfast after hearing good things from colleagues. Was serviced by a young lad who was obviously not happy to be there, I ordered coffee for hubby and I had a cold drink, I wasn't told at the time of ordering that you have to get your own cold drink or cutlery. A woman brought the coffee over and told us we had to get cutlery and drinks ourselves, surely the boy at the till should of told me that! The food arrived and it was lovely, annoying that the toast comes out way before the breakfast so that its cold but hey ho. The breakfast was top notch couldn't fault it. Will defo be visiting here again!

Hubby and his mates stopped here for an early breakfast last week before their early morning fishing trip out of Rhyl. Cafe excellent location only five minutes from Rhyl harbour on small industrial estate just off main road into Rhyl . Cafe which ideally opens at 7 am was open when they arrived at ten to seven ! ( can`t guarantee this is always the case) and an excellent hot breakfast was quickly served and enjoyed by all. Good value for money too . Better still there is an excellent tackle and bait shop less than 100 yards away on the same site ! An excellent way to start the day and set everyone up for an excellent 10 hour fishing trip !

Years back this place used to be amazing for breakfast I used to come every week, but disappointed when I do come now just tastes cheap and horrid. Toast always comes out way before breakfast so you have cold toast by the time you have your breakfast. Don't tend to come here anymore.

The Whistlestop cafe is a great place to have breakfast, it is a little pricey but the food is always of a good quality, service is also good and food always arrives very prompt, these guys also do a lot for charity with the motorcycle riders so top marks for that.

Been a few times now and always have the all day breakfast. Though it;s nice i always need to get extra toast as you only get one slice. No black pudding either. Staff are nice and the owner always gives a nice welcome.

Called in with hubby and a friend at the weekend. They ordered full english while i opted for the slimming world breakfast, as i had lost 2 stone on their diet. Full breakfast looked lovely while mine was very poor. Bacon, fried egg instead of poached, and slices of fried tomatoes instead of tinned, all swimming in grease, instead of being fried in Fry Light, 1 slice of dry toast, and a cup of coffee. Wasnt very appetising at all.

I am a biker but this has no bearing on my comment. The breakfast here is brilliant and locally renowned for it. I haven't eaten here for anything other than a full English but I'm sure if it's anything to go by other choices will be just as good.Staff always friendly and attentive. Quick service and nice setting!

My fatherinlaw recommended we try the Whistle Stop Cafe. He used to drive a taxi a while back and he said he always would eat there and that they had good food at a great price. So we decided to give it a go one day while we were out on one of our little jaunts with him. And you know, he was absolutely right! We have been back a few times and every time was a good experience. Today was exceptional. Instead of the usual egg breakfast, I decided to try a BLT sandwich on toasted bread. I am so happy I did! It was without a doubt, the best BLT I've ever had, and that includes the ones I had in America! It had nice toasted white bread, delicious bacon ( British bacon is THE best! Beats American bacon by a mile. Sorry America, you're still my homeland and I love you dearly!!) fresh, crisp lettuce and sliced tomatoes that tasted like tomatoes. Liberally spread with tasty mayo, this BLT is my favourite item so far! My husband and his Dad had the 4 item omelette with chips ( ham, mushrooms cheese and tomatoes) and they both agreed it was delicious and plenty big enough. The staff are always friendly and smiling, says a lot to me about the place!! If any of my friends or relatives come across, I will bring them to the Whistle Stop for a great breakfast or sandwich. I know they will love it! Nice decor, very clean, very cozy place to go have some great food at reasonable prices. Thanks Whistle Stop! Two thumbs up!!

Our Sunday breakfast was hearty and well presented by smiling efficient staff. However our visit was spoilt by the racist ranting of a bigoted woman on the next table. Whether her ire was fuelled by her sauce-stained copy of the Sunday People or our presence as an interracial couple I'll never know, but her intemperate views on immigration made the BNP sound like a beacon of tolerance. This behaviour is unusual for the area, but upsetting nonetheless. Sadly, we won't revisit because we felt so uncomfortable.

First visit here, to meet a work colleague for brunch, although I've been meaning to go for ages!I don't know anyone who can't eat bacon and egg any time of the day!Fantastic value all day breakfast, smiley faces on the staff, great coffee and a lovely warm friendly atmosphere. Had the all day breakfast the other day. it arrived quickly was freshly cooked,hot and delicious . Staff are friendly and polite. Barry the owner makes time to have a chat with everybody.

One of the best full English Breakfast ever, food always consistently brilliant, staff so lovely always makes a great start to the day. Bacon sandwiches so tasty perfect. The menu is quite extensive and all at a very fair price, you get lots of fresh, hot, tasty food for your money here. Definitely worth finding. If your in the North wales area, our whole family holiday in nearby Sun Valley and all love the Whistletop its a real treat.

I visit this cafe regularly. The food is delicious, and there is always plenty of it. The service is good and pretty quick as well. Cant beat the friendly atmosphere and the warm welcome from the Owner.

You are always made to feel welcome at the whistlestop. I think they do one of the best roast dinners around. The portions are huge.. They are lovely dinners like your mother used to make... Well,if you had a mother like mine that is! Barry , the owner oversees everything. He really makes sure that everyone is looked after!

After a swift 85 mile ride over from the Rochdale area my wife & I called in at our first stop of a weekend visiting Biker Friendly Cafes in and around Wales. The Full English Breakfast was spot on but my wife was a little disappointed with the Slimming World Breakfast, it could have just done with something more, maybee a quorn sausage. Just a thought. The coffee was very good and service both polite and professional. The Whistlestop is well worth seeking. Great food, nice folk and a really nice owner.
