Whetstone Fish Bar in Blaby

Dreadful. Staff didn’t give a damn, laughing and joking about ‘taking money from people’ . Waited 15 mins for pie and chips - Pie microwaved as it magically appeared from The back. Home is a 3 minute walk and the whole thing was cold. Not tepid or room temperature…cold. Asked for no salt and vinegar on the chips - covered in it. Expensive and poor

Generous portions. Excellent customer service and friendly staff. There was an issue with my order, but the owner called me and sorted it. My new favorite chippy stop.

Thought I would give whetstone chippy a go wow never again the chips I can only describe as vile seemed like they were cooked the day before disgusting only had a handful threw the rest never again I remember this chippy from years ago was a great chippy sadly gone downhill rapidly

5 occasions we have ordered a delivery and it has always been between 45 mins and 2 hours after the agreed time. It would be better if they were honest about how long it would be so you can make the decision to go elsewhere. We have given them enough chances but won't be using delivery from them again, they don't even try to make amends and put in something extra so bad customer service. Food is ok but nothing special.

Went in for fish chips and peas x2 the young lad i think his name was Taylor had a problem with his nose which he picked and then served us our meal without washing his hands . He also licked his fingers when wrapping the meal up. In these covid times this is not acceptable by any standard. The food was good but left most of it due to this assistant. Won't return.

Had a business trip in Leicester and needed a meal prior to my departure, Whetstone Fish bar provided top quality doner with tasty, crispy chips. The staff were friendly and courteous which does compliment good food. Will definitely stop by again.

We thought we would try a few different items and went for, special chips, Fish, Chicken burger, Chicken tikka in naan. The special chips were tasty with great combinations of sauces. The chicken fillet burger was crispy on outside and succulent fillet. The fish was fantastic The chicken tikka - was tasty and the chicken was superbly cooked and filling. There are a variety of dishes to try and I would highly recommend as you have the added touch of a superb friendly environment with great staff

I’m not usually a fan of doner meat but the doner meat here is well seasoned and so tasty. Fish is fresh and batter is perfect. Big portions also. I’ve never been able to finish what I buy. Will always use this place.

After a long day at work and a evening of football we decided to have a delivery Placed our order all good Well it arrived 40 minutes late and was stone cold and greasy when it arrived, could not call to complain busines closed Well first and last time for me SHOCKING SERVICE .

The food was perfect, very reasonably priced and tasty. The customer service was amazing. 100% recommend

Decided to use the local chippie formerly owned by Gok Wan’s parents for the first time in years. Didn’t expect much and on entering, my hopes weren’t high. The owner was juggling deliveroos and online orders so when I placed my order, a delay was inevitable. It took 10 mins for the food to be prepped and returning home I thought it was back to Cosby or Blaby for me. I take it back. The chips were perfect - pale, crispy and not greasy at all. My wife’s chicken pieces were really tasty & the pie was well-cooked. Needless to say, I’ll be a returning customer and if this place is doing a roaring trade, I’ll just avoid Saturday evening but don’t let the busy atmosphere discourage you - it’s good value & the chips are divine.

When all this coronavirus is affecting us all and places are closing the team here are trying everything they can to serve our local community by providing a delivery service only. Best fish an chips I have had in awhile recent they have started a chicken tikka added to there kebab range which is so tasteful the owner an staff give you a warm welcome there chips are pure vegetarian definitely will tell my family n friends to visit also they have a meal deal so much choice the owner would even do request if you had something in mind on how you like food best customer service have had in a long while an definitely great food

visited friday evening about 8pm, queuing out the door with no organisation, as to whom was being served and who wasnt, staff were almost mute and stared at you like robots, until you entered into conversation with them, no greeting or warmth etc. the guy running it was rude and shouting customers down saying he was going as quick as he could but in a passive aggressive manner when they questioned where their orders were. one guy had waited 25 mins for a kebab only to be told they had not got his order in the system and did he have a receipt?! like he was standing there for fun and was trying to scam them for a £5 kebab! he had to wait a further 20 odd mins from that point he was told, but no apology offered, i'd have walked out with a refund personally. the 25 mins wait for fish and chips i commited to was way too long, how can a fish and chip shop not have the forward planning to cook fish so its topped up with 3-4 always available on the busiest night of the week, customers should be waiting 25 mins for fish. its not cheap and the food once home was more batter than fish and not good at all, i will definitely never use this place again, stick to blaby or cosby as they are both worlds apart from this place, think they are new management here, but they may well be new to running a fast food establishment full stop and it really shows.

Came in today for a family lunch time order and very pleased. The guy who runs this (sorry I dont know your name) is so customer focused and friendly. The place is spotless and scores a 5 in food hygiene. Food is all reasonably priced...

Ordered from here a few times now. It’s much improved on the old chippy which closed down a few years ago. If you want a kebab this place is the place to go. The kebab in a naan bread for £5 is just unbeatable.

We went here, soaking and on motorbikes. The staff are really friendly. Awesome fish and chips. Fantastic flaky chunks of fish with what seem like homemade chips....and mushy peas too! Brilliant place.

Placed a big order for a family occasion. Whilst it took around 20 minutes for the order to be completed, this was because everything was cooked from fresh (just worth taking into account). The large cod was really big - it would easily have fed...

Because we had some dire fish and chips from this fish bar in the past, we never went there again. Someone told us a few weeks ago that it had new owners so gave a try, which turned out to be very good food.

I know it is new managers but they have it spot on. The food is lovely, fish and chips are amazing. Well done guys. I hope you make it a great success.
