We ordered afternoon tea for 3 people. Lucy and Carol were very helpful and couldn’t help us enough. Sandwiches were delicious. Smoked salmon, cheese with chilli jam and cream cheese and slices of cucumber. Scones were light and fluffy with jam and best cream! When we got to cake it was Victoria sponge and was just a perfect ending as we were getting full! We were served any amount of tea. All at a reasonable price. Certainly recommend. We have been before but never had a cream tea.

We walked some distance to have lunch. We checked the web site to make sure it was open and available. We were met with the most rudest and miserable woman who I presume was the owner only to be told every table was reserved and nothing available. Fair enough, but the way see said it to us was not how you deal with people. The young lady who was an assistant apologised to us for not having anything available and looked clearly embarrassed how we were talked to. Avoid at all cost As an add on we were on holiday and did talk to a couple of locals who never use it as they agreed what a misery that woman is. We walked back towards a place called the horse box by the river, what a difference. Highly recommended

What a great find! Myself and two good friends had afternoon tea here for my birthday! Fantastic service from Carole and the food was fantastic too. We are already planning to visit here again. The icing on the cake (no pun intended) was the antique and collectors rooms in the basement! I highly recommend a visit … and a piece of the lemon drizzle cake 🍰. 😋

What a rude member of staff!! Went in to order a coffee, either sit in or take away. Member of staff was serving someone so I politely waited. She stopped serving and ask what I wanted. I stated just a coffee but was rudely met with they are too busy. Just 9 customers in the shop! Read other reviews here and the theme is clear. Rude staff and zero customer service. Walked our without my coffee followed by a poor review! In this day and age, I am surprised businesses get this so wrong. Customer service is king and if you want to stay in business, employ better staff!!

Really lovely! Ladies greeted us warmly. Table wasn't quite ready as people were just leaving on our arrival. My mum struggles with walking and the ladies happily arranged a seat whilst they got the table sorted for us. We ordered Cream Teas, which was lovely. Very attentive ladies. I'm confused by other reviews saying staff were rude. I found staff very polite and kind.

Met by a very rude women, who was just as rude the day before when she locked the door before entering but I returned to give another chance, only to be treated the same way. The place was busy and they seemed very stressed to be fair, the lower area is flooded and has been for quite a while, someone out there can help these people resolve it. Maybe this review would help before they lose any more customers. I only wanted to buy some Antiques which took my fancy, maybe they can afford no sales.

Last minute booking but we secured a table. The staff are very polite but not intrusive. The drinks were all excellent. The bakewell, lemon & ginger & choc orange cakes were excellent, the fruitcake & Millionaire’s shortbread less so. Useless, terrible food and rude staff. The food we ordered took a ridiculously long time to be bought out, even after asking the staff multiple times where our food was and if there was a problem, this did not seem to do anything. We found the staff very rude and the manger quit disrespectful. Shocked at how a small business like this can operate. Will be making sure I let as many people that I can in the local area, to never enter this place Words cannot describe how upset I was after my visit. 0/10 from me and my family Chris

I was extremely excited to be going to an afternoon tea with family and friends. We had the whole of downstairs to ourselves, until customers kept walking in and out looking at the items for sale on the shelves (I say on the shelves, it was cluttered, there were dust collectors everywhere!) The staff did not block off the top of the stairs which they should have done for a private party. I have contacted the owner of this establishment however I’ve had no response therefore I feel I must publish my thoughts on here. If you want a gathering with your friends and families without the worry of people walking through as they please, or in a tidy place then do not come here. I will not be recommending this place.

We've visited this place a few times now and although it isn't one of our favourite tea rooms it's not too bad. The cream tea is really good value (just under £6 I believe for two jam/cream scones and pot of tea) and even though the scones don't seem to be homemade, they tasted lovely. I wouldn't eat two scones so we shared and the owner was very kind to bring an extra plate and cutlery for us. I found this good customer service as some places seem rather rude if you dare to share. Every time I've had a cappuccino it has been perfect in taste and heat but the couple of times I've had cake I have felt let down by the taste (too sweet) and freshness. I like any slice of cake to have that bounce of freshness but found both slices quite dense in texture. We will return but will be sticking to the scones.

We popped in to the tea room for a light snack and look around - from the outset the initial meeting was cool and starchy. The weather was rainy and the temperature had dropped a lot.The front door would not self close and was ajar, the window above the door was fully open, both ceiling fans were operating so overall the place gave a cold and drafty feel to it. The Brie and bacon sandwich was very nice along with the pot of tea, however the service was not inviting and after a look around we decided to leave, after exiting the front door, which I managed to close, the door was reopened and left to stay that way!! I doubt if we will return.

My Daughter have got into the whole afternoon tea experience. We've gone to several in Kent in the passed 2 years. For us, this was definitely the worse! The "fingers sandwiches were over sized. Giving the impression no care nor attention given. The scones were definitely shop bought (this was confirmed when we went downstairs for a look round & saw the large packets in a corner). They have both plain & fruit as well as 2 other small cakes on the stand. It's a waste as we left most of these? The quality wasn't there. Quality over quantity every time for me. When I had my sandwich I needed clean plate for the scone. I went up to the counter to change plate & they just gave me an ordinary plate not the pretty plate would expect for afternoon tea. To top it off, It was the most expensive afternoon tea I've paid for. Never again!

Had afternoon tea here for 6 people , the place itself is beautiful and really lovely clean and lots of interesting photos on the walls ect. Working in a cafe and baking myself I know home made scones, what they taste and look like so I know that these were 100% shop bought. It’s not a problem but they advertise it as being home made. The sandwiches were ok nothing special basic sliced bread with not a lot of filling, the bread was actually dry around the edges so I’m assuming they were made in the morning and not covered. The staff here are really really nice and the food was ok however would return for maybe other food as I didn’t think the afternoon tea was that great.

Very good value for money, lovely sandwiches and scones. Might have been a bit nicer if the cake had been slices of the ones on display? The squares of cake weren't the best. Anyway, we really enjoyed it. Constructive criticism - if you're cutting cake and sandwiches in advance for afternoon tea then everything needs to be properly stored until the customers arrive. Although tasty, everything was just a little bit dry at the edges because it had been put together in advance and left out in the air. If you fix that it's 5 stars next time.

My wife and I went here to meet up with a friend over a cup of tea. It was an easy place to find and we stopped at the traffic lights directly outside. Also directly opposite is a public car park so parking was easy too. There is definitely nowhere else to park as everywhere has double yellow lines. Having parked safely we walked across the road and through the door of Where Memories Meet. A huge smile welcome from a most delightful lady who asked if it was just the two of us? We informed her we were there to meet a friend and could we possibly have a table for three? It was lunchtime and the café was filling up already but the very happy young lady directed us to the table in the window. This was perfect as we were able to see across the street and would notice our friend when she arrived. The window table was in beautiful sunshine and the whole café was filled with charm and brightness. There was a blackboard informing us there was a room downstairs that had antiques for sale and another blackboard with the menu written on it. The menu was also on the table too but it was good to take the opportunity to look around this amazing place. First to notice was the cleanliness everywhere despite it being full of antiques. The tables were spotless, the windows gleaming brightly, the glass food display case was also gleaming (how do they get things so clean?). The next was the genuine happiness of these two very welcoming, friendly young lady staff members. Our friend arrived and when she had settled the waitress came and took our order. One roasted vegetable sandwich, one cheese and ham sandwich and one jacket potato with a pot of the House Rose Tea. We were surprised and delighted when our order arrived for it was such a lovely sight. The best sandwiches ever and a great jacket potato too. As for the House Rose Tea…it was in a wonderful tea pot and the waitress lifted the lid to show us the actual rose buds floating on the hot water. We stayed for just one hour but it was one of the finest hours we could ever imagine having. Everything was delicious and satisfying and we most certainly recommend Where Memories Meet to anyone seeking a different but good place to meet and eat. Thank you so much for all you did for us three that day and Good Luck in the future.

We visited here for afternoon tea with a friend for a catch up and the afternoon tea was very nice. The tea room is quite compact but you didn’t feel on top of each other. It was very busy so booking I would say is essential. There is additional seating downstairs. The afternoon tea was very well presented and unlimited loose leaf tea. The sandwiches were different fillings to normal afternoon teas which was a pleasant change and you received 2 cakes and 2 scones each. We couldn’t eat all the afternoon tea so the nice friendly helpful staff boxed it up for us to take home. Before we left we browsed the antiques for sale which were located downstairs. There is a small car park that holds approximately 40 cars opposite the tea rooms that is free so very handy and wasn’t particularly full. Overall a very pleasant experience for a catch-up and a natter over a afternoon Tea. We will definitely visit again.

I wanted to go here for a while and so my husband and I decided to go for breakfast. I am sorry to say it was the worst breakfast I have ever had. I wouldn't have posted a review as it is an independent business but on reading other reviews it seems breakfast seriously lets this place down and based on today's experience I would recommend you just don't provide it. I'm sure the cakes are lovely but unfortunately won't go back to find out.I had scrambled eggs - I'm not sure how scrambled eggs can be so awful - it was like they had microwaved a tub of reconstituted egg white (they certainly didn't have and signs of yolk in them). They were inedible. The shame was that the hufkin they were served on was nice but had turned into a soggy mess as the egg was served on top of it so that inedible too.My husband ordered the big breakfast - when it arrived we actually didn't know what was on top (bacon it turns out but was brown and a large clump, apparently it had no taste) - except for the beans he said everything else was also pretty awful.Such a shame. We loved the setting and the staff were nice but I just wish we had gone for cake instead.

Wonderful cream teas, sandwiches and fresh food always available served by friendly staff. Car parking is opposite so is only a very short walk. Upstairs is the main tea shop and overflow downstairs with antiques for sale adorning shelves and walls makes this an interesting venue. Numerous leaf teas and speciality teas available. We've just had a full afternoon tea with a glass of prosecco. It was very relaxed. What I find quite unusual about this place is even the chairs you sit on are for sale. Check out their website for more info, it's well designed and tells you about the history of the building and the discovery of a well in the basement. One of my favourite places for afternoon tea. Being a vegetarian and having a nut allergy, I was concerned, like I am at any new eatery I visit. However, I was given a large selection to choose from. The food was superb, top quality homemade food and presented wonderfully. After eating, I couldn't resist going downstairs and looking at what else to buy. Viewing the antiques and collectibles was like walking through Aladdin's cave, there's really something for everyone, no matter your budget or style. I was also informed that a number of evening events are held here too, from psychic and tarot nights to a Halloween party, wine cheese and quiz nights and a vintage Christmas. This is the perfect venue no matter the occasion and I will definitely be returning now that I've found this gem.

We had a wedding reception in Wateringbury Village hall so it only seem sensible to get our fresh sandwiches nearby. We ordered 10 platters of freshly made sandwiches from where memories meet. All our guests commented how delicious they were. They were beautifully presented with gorgeous fillings and lovely soft bread. I asked if the platters could be labelled to prevent waste however I need not of worried they were all gone within a short period of time with us only having half a sandwich each! At least the guests loved them! Communication with Lucy was easy and very friendly. My husband and I would recommend this tearoom for sure! Thanks Lucy and staff!

Was hoping for a quaint little tea shop with a fair selection of food. We were all quite disappointed with the selection. Two of the four of us being vegetarian found the selection incredibly poor. The other two weren't that happy with their lunch either. The room was full of flies and the road out the front is very busy and noisy. Also, the cost of the food was quite high. The young english girl that served us was lovely and very polite. Her service was genuinely 5*. I wish I'd caught her name so I could recommend her to nicer establishments who are looking for staff in the area.As for the "antiques", it was basically like the contents of a charity shop, but the prices increased tenfold.I'd recommend this place to pub, café, restaurant owners so that they can poach the very unappreciated waitress. My coffee was okay, hence the review being 2*.

I always take friends here when we are looking for a nice coffee and cake. It is a quaint and charming little tea shop, unfortunately on a main road junction, but opposite a free car park.Once inside you forget the road and find yourself in a lovely little tea shoppe full of fresh food and yummy cakes with the added bonus of an antique shop. There has been a well dug out on the bottom floor and it is little surprises like these added to the wonderful service and good prices that lead this being to such a gem.

2 adults and 6 year old child went for lunch, on arrival there was no ground level seating available, as the only suitable table was reserved (good sign of a good business), we was then greeted by a member of staff who took us to a table down in the basement? Not as alarming as it first sounds, it is well decorated and you are surrounded by lovely displayed artworks and antiques that are available for sale, our daughter loved it! The food arrived in a reasonable time and was of good portions well presented, some say it is a bit pricey, maybe it is just a little compared others, but you get what you pay for here. It is lovely that Wateringbury has such an asset as this and it is far better than the admin offices that used to occupy the same premises, then adding nothing really to the village..

We celebrated a friend's baby shower here with an afternoon tea. The girls were great and accommodated all our food requirements (vegetarian, lactose free, pregnancy friendly) well and were really attentive. They also gave us plenty of space to accommodate presents and baby photos to make the day special. Thank you!

If you are tired of the same old franchised coffee/tea shops, then this bijou tearoom in the quiet village of Wateringbury is the place to head to. A pot of Earl Grey comes in a china teapot, with a silver strainer, and breakfast is freshly made. None of the seats and tables are identical - which gives it a lovely querky feel as you are also surrounded with wall paintings. Service was spot on, food excellent and it was a real effort to resist a slice of cake..which looked yummy. Plenty of parking opposite the shop. Great value

We enjoyed a lovely light lunch in this delightful tearoom. The carrot cake was delicious and it was so nice to be served tea in fine bone china, the old fashioned way! Very friendly service too. Big thumbs up - we'll be back!

This is good value for money and very quirky. Sells antiques as well as great cake and lunches. It's staff are very friendly and portions generous. We had 2 teas and asked for a scone which arrived just like a cream tea! For that alone we will return! The cost was not for a cream tea. Excellent. Downstairs are large tables to eat at surrounded by antiques and a beautiful stone well with water running through it. We want to bring our family here and gave already got plans to return in a week or so. Fantastic!

I have never experienced lunch as bad as I did at this place! I chose BLT sandwich from what looked like a great selection. When it arrived the bacon was disgusting I am unsure it was even bacon and had been microwaved to warm through. When I complained the waitress simply replied 'well that's the bacon we serve here' disgraceful. I will never go back or recommend!!!

Firstly the staff seemed friendly, however when it came to the mothers day tea they must have used the cheapest of ingredients for I would say 14 finger sandwiches, about 12 small cakes and 8 scones no bigger than an inch the smallest 2 dishes of cream and 2 of jam, Bearing in mind there were 5 adults and 1 toddler. We did have 3 pots of tea yeah!!! Then we came to pay the bill was £67.80 we where in total shock and even the people on the table next to us could not believe the price for what we actually received and they didn't even eat it or taste the stale rubbery scones and the cheap sandwich paste's and ham. I am so sorry to say that what should have been a lovely time ended with a bitter taste in the mouth. I will certainly remember where memories meet but would change the name to where you remember been ripped off. I have never felt so strongly about been ripped of genuinely please avoid this memory.

We had afternoon tea in the downstairs room for my mum's 50th birthday party and it was wonderful. The decor is perfect - lots of antique style bits for sale that really suit the theme of the place. The well downstairs in a good attraction in itself! Service was great, even though there were around 22 of us. Can't wait to go back again, delicious.

Passed this place so many times desperate to visit. Went for breakfast with a friend . I ordered scrambled egg and salmon on huffkin. My friend eggs Benedict. I want orange juice and asked if it was smooth .....yes she said , I said no bits or pulp....yes she said it's a smooth good one. It wasn't it was pulp :( I didn't say anything , she was a nice lady and it was an independent business. So they 'cook' everything in a microwave behind the till. ..... Ding and my breakfast arrived, huffkin is lovely and lots of salmon, very good ....but microwaved scrambled egg was vile and was pale and looked like a sold lump my dog had hacked up. My friend who is 6 months pregnant waited for hers, obviously using one microwave and after five minutes ......ding .....over it came. The eggs were undercooked, the white almost liquid. I can't even begin to say how dangerous this is undercooked egg let alone the fact my friend is pregnant. We asked politely to re cook and so they did , too be fair they were accommodating of our request, but did voice a lot that's how people like their eggs. I don't think this tea room should sell breakfast, you have great reviews of coffee and cake, sanwhiches and afternoon tea. Any bad reviews seem to be as per mine ....moaning about breakfast. You will make someone seriously poorly if you keep serving undercooked eggs.

Coffee shop serving a variety of small meals/sandwiches. Perfect for a brunch or lunch. My personal favourite is the chicken and bacon toasted sandwich made with freshly cut bread. They serve homemade soup and quiches and lots of tasty specials. It's a great little place, full of antiques that you can purchase. Downstairs there is a well and lots more seating ( if it looks busy upstairs! ). You can park in the village hall carpark, just across the road.

The Mother's Day Afternoon Tea was absolutely brilliant. Food was excellent especially the selection of cakes. The staff met all our dietary requirements and the service and surroundings were faultless. It was a fantastic day, we had a look round the museum as well and that was very interesting. Although raining on the day we have visited before in better weather and the grounds are gorgeous.

First rate. Food is simple but delicious. Service was attentive, food came quickly, hot and super tasty. Really good value, basics all done well. The cafe is a long thin rectangle but has been set out to accommodate this. Was one of the only sit down breakfast options we could find outside of the pub, in Tonbridge, and we went back the next day!

It was described as a big breakfast 2 bacon which looked like 1 bit cut into 2 I had no beans to my choice the rest ok but the mushrooms were cool never made a comment at the time because my partner told me not to, her salmon and avacado on sour dough was nice but paid extra for the salmon , for a very medium breakfast at £9 not great ,the pic of the breakfast on the web site is very misleading an expensive cafe for where it is so shall give it a miss after my walk
