This is one of the few places in Suffolk that well deserves all 5 stars and special recognition to the chef Anna which could have a Michelin star if she wanted. Everything we ordered was cooked with love and respect for the ingredients of excellent quality. Just baked ciabatta bread that melts in your mouth as a side in most mains is something to thank for. The food will leave you speechless. The desserts are outstanding as well. The environment is super friendly and chill. Definitely a place to subscribe regularly.

It was a Wednesday night and a little quiet except for a number playing league Poker. I was with a group of Bikers and we were welcomed warmly by staff and customers. The beer was cheap and superbly kept, unfortunately we couldn't really take advantage of that for obvious reasons. The garden is very nice, but no obvious from the road. We have vowed to go back when we are not driving/ riding.

It is not fine dining. The pub is a bit untidy and chaotic, but this is a proper village local. There is a great choice of cask beer and the food is plain and simple. Ham, egg and chips was my choice and the eggs were from the chickens in the garden. The service was friendly and pleasant and the prices very reasonable. Maybe not for a first date, but definitely worth a visit.

Hello we recently had a family night out and although we usually visit the Brantham Bull or Stutton kings head for family meals we decided on the Tattingstone Wheatsheaf for a change of scenery First impressions were its a quiet local pub and the food and service was of a good standard Food and drink were reasonably priced for a country pub with a good variety of choice suitable for most peoples requirements Now the bad part for most of our meal the lady who i assume was the landlady was constantly moaning and complaining with the women at the bar about her ex or some poor man who had done her wrong and seemed to spend sometime plotting some dark revenge on this poor soul By the end of our meal i almost wanted to meet this poor man and give him a cuddle I don't expect to go out for a family meal and then have to listen in to the local gathering of village witches whilst they stand around their cauldron stirring up a dark spell to make this poor man suffer Keep your gossip out of the pub would be my suggestion

My wife and I visited this lovely country pub a few weeks back on our way to London. We dropped in on a Saturday lunchtime and found a warm homely pub, with a real fire, real beers and as it turned out real food. We had Ham egg and chips and although many would suggest it is difficult to mess this simple meal up, I would also suggest that not many do it as well as the Wheatsheaf. Very nice thick cut locally produced Ham, Eggs from their own chickens and homemade chips which had obviously been triple cooked and not boiled and fried as someone else has suggested! Even the tomato sauce was homemade! In this day and age, country pubs have to stand out, and in my opinion the Wheatsheaf certainly does. We need to support places like this! Well done the Wheatsheaf.

We went here for a Sunday lunch to celebrate a friend's 60th. We hadn't been before but chose it based on tripadvisor reviews and because it was the runner up in the Suffolk pub of the year. I think that probably for a drinker's pub and for locals it is fine. But for food, we were really disappointed. The menu was already really limited but made worse by there being only one of several of the items available and this at 12, so heaven help anyone eating later. The meals themselves were far from the best with the so-called chips being boiled potatoes, slightly fried. Of the 5 meals ordered 2 were okay (fortunately our guests's ones) and 3 were pretty poor. Desert was scoops of average ice cream only in a tea cup - with while looking novel added nothing to them. The veggie bean stew was just a bowl of beans in effect, no spice, no taste and not appetising to look at. All in all we would not eat here again. On the plus side the prices are cheap but then truly you do sometimes get what you pay for and even at £7 or £8 they weren't good value. I appreciate that there are only two people running this pub, no kitchen staff, no waiting staff etc. and so they must find it tough. However, in that case why not forget the food and stick to what you are good at as on the evidence of our meal unfortunately it is not food.

All I can say for the food is I paid £9 for all listed above, this feels quite strange as it was SOOOO GOOD! Had I paid £30-£40 for that kind of burger in a restaurant elsewhere I would not be disappointed at all, the burgers are homemade with the owner able to tell you what is in it, and, this is not something I say lightly, it is the best burger I have ever had! To think that I paid £9 for it almost feels like theft.
