Wonderful meal in a beautifully characterful inn.

Team : Exceptional Food : great menu - specials were brilliant. Hotel Rooms : beautiful roll top bath in room 9. We were staying with hounds and the room was kitted out with dog beds and even a dog hamper with treats and essentials. A proper, premium, country pub.

We had two lovely meals in the Wheatsheaf in Northleach. Jack served us on both occasions and he was excellent and gave us some great recommendations. This place is also dog friendly with complimentary dog treats. When we’re next in Northleach, the Wheatsheaf is one of the first places we’ll stop and visit. Great food and an excellent country pub.

We stayed here for one night on our visit to the Cotswolds. What a gem of a place. Comfortable room and bed with a fabulous bathroom. Unfortunately we were too tired to check out the pub and restaurant, but it looked lovely. Would definitely recommend.

Fabulous place to stay when in the Cotswolds. The service was exceptional from check in through to check out. The rooms were very well kept with lots of lovely touches. We didn’t make a reservation for the dinning room prior to check in but Duncan was very accommodating and reserved us a table. The food was great we shared the Cote de boeuf. Cooked to perfection served with chips sauces salad. Great value. There was an extensive wine list with some really goods wines. Would definitely return when in this lovely corner of the Cotswolds. We were staying locally in Northleach and decided to have dinner at the Wheatsheaf inn The atmosphere was lovely and the food was delightful. Our waitstaff Charlie and his Colleagues did a wonderful job also. A shoutout to our Chef/s who perfectly prepared our shared T-bone steak. Thanks again for a lovely evening.

Had a fabulous evening at the "making cocktails event" under the tutelage of Tom Palmer. Great fun with lots of interesting asides from Tom whose encyclopaedic knowledge of cocktails fused with his sense of fun made for a great evening. The raspberry sour was as delicious as the grazing platter was exceptional. I'll be back!

Delicious pizza and drinks. Truffle fries were my fave. The service was excellent even though the place was packed over the bank holiday.

Average score as you can be left waiting to get served, staff seem to be too busy in the resturant to serve customers wanting drinks alone. Nice Garden area with ample seating in the shade or Sun.

We stayed and ate at the Wheatsheaf Inn. The location is amazing, a really picturesque part of the Cotswolds. The village of Northleach is really pretty with plenty of nice walks which makes the Wheatsheaf a really good base for a short trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the decor of the pub and rooms is really lovely too. We stayed for one night in one of the larger rooms and it truly was lovely. Huge bed, amazing pillows, little brownie bites, good coffee, roll-top bath and rainforest shower, all decorated to a high standard. Well stocked mini-bar and snacks (extra cost, but not exorbitant. We ate dinner there and had a few cocktails. Service was excellent, the food came out promptly, despite being quite busy and was thoroughly enjoyable and good value. Sourdough toast and butter, oysters, really good pizza from their pizza oven and mushroom gnocchi were all spectacular. Brilliant selection of whisky and good cocktails with good music and atmosphere made this a lovely stay, and a bar and hotel that have rocketed to the top of our favourite places. We had a lovely meal with friendly attentive service. The cocktails were well made with high quality ingredients and well balanced. Our food was of equally high quality, carefully presented, generous and delicious. The pub is well decorated and cared for which added to the comfortable and friendly atmosphere.

Another birthday celebration at The Wheatsheaf and everything met our now high expectations! Julie was a fantastic ‘host’ and looked after our every needs. The food was amazing as always and the ambience very special - thank you!

Lovely food, charming, attentive and efficient service. The chips were as good as any I’ve had, the creme brulee fantastic. Would recommend without hesitation.

Our waiter, Dale, was exceptional. He coped calmly with people arriving late and changing their orders and was efficient, helpful and friendly throughout. (Birthday lunch for 12 on 18.5.24)

Excellent food all round, really couldn't fault it, twice cooked souffle amazing, roasts all fantastic, devilled kidneys better than I could cook, service perfect, efficient, polite, not overbearing, great atmosphere. BUT we were told they don't take cash on presentation of the bill. Astounding!! Card only!! Very embarrassing for guests and staff and a money machine for the banks. Luckily our guests had a card otherwise you'd have had to call the police or accept cash. Also 12.5% service charge is not discretionary if you add it to the bill and print at the bottom Total to pay. Do you not pay your staff enough?? A service charge is a tip, and extra, never expected, for good food and service ( which we did pay and was deserved)

Great pub and amazing food. Bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Garden is gorgeous and the staff are great!

Excellent restaurant in the middle of nowhere I ate the kidneys for the first time and the calf's liver for the main and it was excellent The red butter pudding dessert was also really delicious

The cheese soufflé was amazing and the pan-seared chicken with mushroom sauce and wilted spinach was delicious. Service was wonderful and atmosphere very warm and inviting. I highly recommend The Wheatsheaf Inn to anyone visiting Northleach!

Quaint but pricey country pub/inn. There were a couple of draft ales on tap and plenty of the usual lagers. The overall atmosphere was more restaurant than casual pub, but that was ok as the food was excellent. If you're looking for a meal and special occasion then this is probably the right choice. It's not the place I'd drop by for a casual half on the way home.

really lovely food and quick service

Just called in on a casual basis on Mothering Sunday for a few glasses of wine and cheese. Fabulous place, excellent wine and were kind enough to show my wife and I the outside area and gardens. Truly first class. Thank you.

Genuinely the best tasting Sunday roast I have had. Went for the pork belly roast. Was not disappointed. The portion sizes were generous too. I shall be coming back and soon!! Excellent!

Food great but experience absolutely awful. I appreciate the Wheatsheaf can’t tell how bad a family will behave when they book but splitting a party of 12+ across two tables with our table for four in the middle was a complete nightmare for us. The fact the four children from the party of 12 couldn’t sit and eat their food without throwing most of it around or talk without screaming was one thing but having the parents and other family members constantly move between the two tables with food and drink and doing zero to control their children made for a spectacularly poor lunch. Why did the Wheatsheaf do a such a bad job at not sitting them altogether and why couldn’t they ask them to turn it down when everyone in the restaurant was finding this anti-social family unbearable? Why were we left to make a fuss and spoil more an already spoilt meal? Basically a complete waste of £200

A very cute garden for dining with a good menu of interesting dishes. servers were kind and attentive. My fish and chips were ok. my wife's salmon toast was very tiny. overall nice time.

Beautiful place, delicious food but I was disappointed. The burrata is hugely overpriced and the Sunday roast was an underwhelmingly small portion, it felt like more of a fine dining restaurant rather than a Cotswold restaurant /pub. All in all great place tasty food but I'm probably not gonna come back for a second time to pay the same money as you would at any other place but for a smaller portions.

Great pizza, shame about the wait

Superb food , welcoming staff … couldn’t fault anything! Recommendations were spot on as well! Sticky date pudding was perfect and the sirloin from the local butchers worked a treat for my husband after our steep climb to the Broadway Tower earlier Thanks so much!

Great find in the Cotswolds! Food was delicious and very tasty. Everyone loved their meals, staff were polite and helpful.

We didn't stay here but our wedding party guests were booked for Sunday lunch, everyone enjoyed the food we all had starters and chosen roast which was very tasty although a few of us remarked roast potatoes weren't fluffy and crisp but all said the meats were perfect .We sat outside in the covered tent area which was very pleasant and comfortable. Reasonably priced we would visit again.

We booked this inn with no prior knowledge. It was just beautiful. The garden setting for dinner and the food exceptional. Our room was over the top comfortable, with everything we could want. I wish we had booked to stay our extra time there

Stumbled upon this pub in the arse-end of nowhere, great hospitality and a menu a little too experimental for me... But still great food and friendly staff.

We stayed here during our visit to the Cotswolds at the end of June beginning of July. It was quite busy but the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was exquisite with a good selection for vegetarian etc and the breakfast was bang on the best we had while away… But the hotel was run down with broken door panels missing wallpaper and peeling paintwork and the decor in desperate need of an update especially all the creepy pictures of men staring menacingly at you while you sleep…. I also didn’t like the rugs on the bed which felt dirty as they were very bobbled and rough feeling and the whole no hot drinks in your room but ring down to reception for a cup of tea - but they don’t answer the phones…. It has to be said that the bath was huge and there was plenty of hot water… so to summarise food excellent definitely eat here but to stay here was not so good… but not the worst either

Good food, could have been warmer; good service, could gave been a tad quicker but we were a party of 20. Shame there wasn't an immediate realisation that not everybody can drink alcohol. Nigel is not an attractive dining companion.

A very good, traditional inn. We stayed as a large family and all were very impressed. The food was delightful, coupled with some excellent customer service. This all added the the overall experience of the stay. The garden area is particularly nice, with so many hidden and enclosed areas. The rooms were comfortable although he prepared to heat the church bells throughout the night ! I would highly recommend. Thank you to all the staff.

We had a lovely stay for 1 night, food was lovely and staff were friendly.

Sunday roast delicious and a big plate full ... service first class and ambience clean and historically in keeping with the village...

Great food, but the room was microscopic, needed some fixing up (e.g., wallpaper peeling, window coverings broken, etc..). Our room was right above the kitchen, so it was always warm. Great chef/food though!

Delicious food. On the pricey side. But it's lovely including the waiters.

Only ate dinner there, so can't comment on it as a hotel. I had the vegan squash and spinach pie which was one of the best dishes I'd eaten all year. The starter was also really good. The dessert was alright, not at the level of the other courses but nowhere near enough to take this away from being a five. This is from somebody who hates paying a premium price generally, but here it was absolutely worth it.

Room was noisy right above the kitchen exhaust, only a bath and no shower… food was acceptable however nothing special and over-seasoned. Probably would not return except for a drink.

Great food and service 👌. Only one complaint why put a 12.5%. Service charge on the bill. That You can have it taken off before you pay. I felt that I had to pay it. (Under pressure) I did not see any information that there would be a service charge added to the bill. I would have left a tip anyway. Only this issue ruined my evening. So whoever is in charge should take a look At this policy. As I will not visit again And probably a few others won't visit again. It should be left to the customer to decide On a tip. Not you. Just popped in, and the food was excellent.

For £170 per night I wouldn't expect the room to be dirty or in such poor condition. Thread bare carpet, toothpaste splashes on the wall left from previous guests, nails sticking out of the wall, food stains on the curtains, dust on skirting boards, silicone coming away from the shower base. I left here feeling disappointed this morning.

Only visited the eatery, which was pricy but excellent. Some much needed well prepared vegetables had here, a rarity in Cotswold cuisine

Had the pleasure of visiting the Cotswolds with my partner and research a good place to get Sunday Roast in the area. My partner and I booked a Sunday roast last week and it should have been a 5 star experience - the food tasted nice, the waiter was lovely and very friendly, restaurant decor was nice and everything seemed faultless. Until later in the evening, my partner and I was having food poisoning symptoms - abdominal cramps and going to the toilet every 10 minutes. This meal completely ruined our Valentines Day and staycation as we became unwell for the entire duration of the trip. Either the staff don't wash their hands or they leave food out for too long - something was not right. Food came out quickly and was warm not piping hot. After paying such a high price to be given this quality I was very upset and informed the Restaurant Manager of this. I will also be making a report to the Food Standards Agency and certainly would never recommend anyone going for Sunday roast here as it is well below standard and they should review the chef and people running the business to meet food quality control and standards so that people can avoid getting ill!

The food here is delicious. It was so hard to decide what to eat I ended up having three starters and sharing a main course. All of the dishes were very tasty. The service was faultless and the interior of the pub is lovely. Would highly recommend this place. Worth a drive of around an hour for a proper meal.

They really have two business here and I wish they would break up the food and the hotel into two different places to review. I eat the food. Was wounderful. They focus on what people in the country would eat, not city food. So if you want the most unique experience this is the place. I had partridge. Excellent...

Extremely bad service. We have been waiting for a long time to even be approached at the table (considering that the pace was almost empty and there were at least 5 people behind the bar) and 10 minutes after ordering coffee, the staff didn’t even started to prepare the drinks…

Why 3 stars? 1. If I was rating the restaurant I would give a 5 stars. The food is simply sublime. From breakfast to lunch and diner, it's delicious. 2. The service is excellent. Truly great staff 3. The rooms are what drive the score down. The rooms definitely need refurbishment. Whilst the decor is beautiful it does not compensate for the fact that a) the carpet, the mattress, the windows are ancient. The bed was not in a good condition, the carpet was worn, the wood of the window rotten in some places, letting the noise and cold in. But most shockingly, the rooms were not clean. Mine specifically. The carpet was full of dust, so was the bed side table and lamps. Worse of all the bed 🤢the mattress topper was stained yellow and covered with hair and public hair. The staff was great. Apologised and made a cleaner bed. But still I pay the full price and at that price (or any price) this kind of uncleanless is not acceptable. In short: eat there, don't sleep there until they refurbish the rooms.

Enjoyed the meal overall. Favourite was the Beef Tartare. The meal was a bit expensive for what it was though.

You park motorbikes at the side near a wooden shed. Garden is fully enclosed. Only pizza on the lunch menu which is why I only gave three stars. Good pint.

A charming hotel and restaurant. Rooms on the small side, but food and service exceptional. We think possibly our best ever breakfast, so thank you.

Really well made food. Had a suprise "Boiled Egg and Soldiers" on the menu which my son loved. Staff were excellent and accommodating. Would have liked a chicken option on there.
