You wouldn’t know that it’s here! Tucked away within the University of Hull. Great to have if you are a student here. A very good breakfast and pint at a good price.

Friday 27th. Says open. Went out of our way to meet family. You were closed. Nevermind Greymare got our money.

Friends got kicked out because someone ordered peas to their table, then couldn’t get a refund on orders to the table after they were kicked out

Great atmosphere for sport as they have big screens. Great pub quiz in a Sunday

Nice to have a local Wetherspoons , then heading into town for one. But most recently the University parking has changed!! You have to pay before you park now!! No cash machines onsite + you now have too use “RINGO” app to pay during payable hours > if you use the onsite double storey car parking. Take note > don’t get caught out!

Cheap beer and reasonable priced pub food. Friendly staff. Part of the Hull University campus, so the crowd is young, but it was civilised at the time of our visit on a Friday night.

Decent pub but busy so staff focused on serving not small talk. Understandable

I've been in a variety of 'spoons" but sanctuary bar is 100% my favourite. Really chilled atmosphere, friendly staff, actually nice food for a spoons and if ordering from the app, quick and prompt (although I do recommend from ordering from the bar here, so you can tip the staff)

The pipes need replacing, over last 3 weeks at least 25 people have complained, that the Coors, Carling and Worthingtons tastes musty and like smelling damp clothes. Staff just say we don't know what to do. We'll you have lost at least 40 local people i know as customers. Since the refurbishment the place has gone down hill.

We visited this pub for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was busy and full. Friendly and fast service. The national Wetherspoon concept is affordable with a good price/quality ratio. Lots of deals such as food and drink combinations, 2 for the price of etc. Food was fine. Enjoyed a wrap with a cocktail.

We ordered a portion of chips that cost £4.95 when they arrived we compared them to our friends on our table, she had twice as much as us. We asked one of the bar staff if they could ask the kitchen to put some more chips in for us. When he returned he said that this was their standard portion. So is every standard portion different sizes? These chips were also very luke warm. Like they had been sat in the fryer waiting for someone to order them. These chips were also very hard. This was very disappointing. Secondly, someone on our table went to the bar to order a drink, she then got told that she had to leave as she didn’t have ID, even though she had ordered a drink to the table previously and did not get asked for ID. When she then asked if she could have a soft drink they said no. This was just not on.

Went on the Sunday quiz night, was busy as expected but drinks and food came quick and the same quality I expect from wetherspoons

Ordered a wrap they brought the wrong wrap out and then when we sent it back they brought the wrong wrap out again

It's a spoons. It's OK. Food is poor, but cheap. Atmosphere can be flat, best is sun eves when quiz is on. Its good for watching footie, plenty of screens.

Service good food rebish got cheese burger the cheese wouldn't even melt told them they say that's how it meant to be

I want to congratulate a member of staff Maddy, on Tuesday evening she was the only person working behind the bar. We were there about 2 hours and most tables were occupied, she did not stop, despite 3 lagers going off and a queue of about 10 people constantly, she kept happy and extremely polite with the customers, she was being asked the same question as to why the usual bar was cordoned off but it did not phase her, always a smile and explanation. I hope you have rewards as Maddy deserves one. Very impressed with her work ethic.

I thought Wetherspoons only took over old abandoned pubs. This has been purpose built. On a uni campus. Atmosphere was buzzing and everyone is super friendly. Staff do table service and are great. And food is Wetherspoons food. You know you're not getting Michelin star food but you know youre getting it at a super cheap price. Great place, thanks guys 👍

Did not like the gender neutral toilets.all the doors are pink . instantly I thought I was in a woman's toilets.if blue men's .why not green..

Food was nice, but complained about the pea portion. Thought there wasn't any to start with but found a small spoonful under the chips. Come on peas are pretty cheap, increase the portion size!

TV a little loud which is ok, but 2x loud TVs on different channels was not great. (I'm sure students love it though!)

Despite my bartenders best efforts, they would not give me the beans I ordered. Instead I was stuck with measly peas. Not cool.

Cheap drinks, but the food is never what you order (tends to always be items missing). Def caters more towards uni students and is always busy, but quick service. Would recommend for drinks, but wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Great food and excellent service all round. I eat here all the time when working and can always get my lunch within my 45 min break. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Great bar.

The Sanctuary bar is a bit different from your usual Wetherspoons pub as it's actually on the Hull University campus inside the Students Union Building. It is open to the general public like any other Wetherspoons. It's one large room with a large outside seating area, and the toilets are on the ground floor for a change. The staff are great. You can order food and drinks on the app like any other Wetherspoons. There were three real ales on hand pumps when i called in out of term time. There's a large pay & display car park on the campus. A great pub.

Took my 2 grandchildren for dinner on friday, i had a mixed grill, the chips were spot on but the meat was so dry and crisp that when i tried to cut it, it just broke, ny grandchildren said there boneless chicken was the same, really dry, it was like the meat had been cooked a while before and put aside, won't be going back

The perfect social spot for university students, their friends and family. It's a lovely place with a great atmosphere, vibe and people. Lots of lively conversations going on all the time, people enjoying the football, and nice staff. The kind of place where everyone kind of knows everyone. The pool tables are never free though.

Great chilled out atmosphere. You don't get the impression that a fight will break out any minute like at some of the spoons.

So I’m sitting trying to have a lovely meal with me wife when I go up and get some drinks for us as we wanted to get the deal 3 drinks for £5.75 MIX AND MATCH. I then wait patiently in the queue to be told I CANNOT have what I want which it’s in the menu as an option to get mix and match drinks. I then say to her it says it right there on the menu that I can mix and match and get whatever is under that section she then goes to say if my till won’t let me do it then I can’t do it can I with attitude! As I’m shocked because she’s in the wrong and trying to be rude to me the paying customer. I then say well that’s false advertising isn’t it she said welp I didn’t make the menu so…. I used to LOVE this place but she made me want to NEVER come back ever again. DONT COME TO THIS SPOONS !!!!🤬

I had ordered a vegetable pizza for table 17, which is just in front of the cashier who took the order at the bar. After waiting about 30 minutes, I asked, “Where is my pizza?”. The cashier told me that I had said table 70. Supposing you misunderstood it, don’t you see the guy in front of you sitting at table 17? Then they brought my pizza with chicken. It was a camera prank, but I really don’t like it. Besides, when I was waiting for the pizza, another waiter dropped my jacket off the chair without apologising. I'd wanted to see the manager, but I was scared of being mistreated by the crew and left there. I`m writing here, so if the manager reads this, please let’s talk over this issue! I can evidence what I just wrote here. DEVASTATED! ----- UPDATE: The manager reached me, and yesterday we had a meeting. We watched the camera records of my visit from beginning to end. The manager verified what I wrote above, and he was so sorry. It was good to see a manager giving such value to customers. Speaking of which, a couple of days ago I came to get coffee late at night, about 11 p.m. There was no coffee except decaf ones, so I wanted to get a refund, but the staff told me that they would gladly refill the coffee machine for me, and I got the coffee. I really appreciate it. It was such a nice gesture. So, in the service industry, your job is certainly up to your employees. Thank you!

A good place. Popular for students and Joe public. Good beer garden. Pool tables. Prices are very cheap. Sky sports. Good access for disabled people. Staff are good and helpful.

It is a very unusual place for a JDW, but I hope it catches on. Took a while to get served, and in fairness, the staff were friendly. I had a good ale and a pizza to takeaway. Would go back.

Wetherspoons, full of students, on s University campus lol what more can I say! It's nice to see other people except students in there as well. Otherwise it's your average Wetherspoons clone! If you've been to one, then you've been to them all. Great offers on drinks, which is always student friendly!

Decent food and drink. Normal spoons service etc. good location for the University.

Located within the University but open to the public. Unless there's a big football match on it's surprisingly tranquil for a 'Spoons pub! The fish and chips is definitely recommended; the fish is consistently above the expected standard. App users will often find special offers available here, too. It's slightly off the beaten track being within the University site but it's one of my favourite 'Spoons.

First visit here & really enjoyed our visit. Cool atmosphere & everyone was friendly, just doing their thing, hanging out with friends having a good time. Drinks were good & amazingly cheap prices. Food was also good, had a bit of a wait but the place was extremely busy, the guys serving were very polite & friendly. Will definitely revisit at some point.

Editing my initial bad review. The place still needs clearly marking and the service I the slowest I've experienced in any wetherspoons but its a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Great value for money, pint for £2.26!

We went with our daughter on the University open day, the pub was very busy, very popular. We did have a bit of a wait, only to be expected, but not too long. The food was absolutely super, very hot and fresh. Staff attentive, polite and well presented, a very pleasurable experience. Would definitely recommend this place to all.

Superb atmosphere in the beer garden when the weather is good

This place is absolutely disgusting, there where dirty glasses and plates on every table , the place was filthy, as for the service , it was shocking , no staff and extremely slow service , not good

As a none student, this weatherspoons has become my local, its welcoming and has a great atmosphere when busy. It's great for families too. It was a little daunting when we first went as you feel as though you're walking into a university and not a pub. And there's no visible signs to say weatherspoons spoons here. It's just a small billboard. But once you brave that, it's an awesome place to eat ,drink, and socialise .

Wish I could give it 0, my food was sat out to the point where there was 0 temperature in my food. I had sausage and mash and the gravy had curdled and gone solid. Peas where hard and cold. Mash was cold. I know its meant to be cheap fast food but genuinely can't remember the last time I had food that bad. In reality it isn't even that cheap either. Will be going to Old Grey in the future

Seems like they’re massively understaffed. We decided to get a couple of drinks before leaving the place and had to wait for 1.5 hours…Got a refund though. Food was really nice and didn’t take that long (about 30 minutes)

Gone downhill recently, takes ages for food and drink to come, waited over an hour for 3 shots.

I was a mature student at the University of Hull in 1998 and the experience was tremendous. Likewise my wife and I have become great fans of Wetherspoons all around the country since this time, our never ceasing to be amazed what a great 'leveller' the Wetherspoons experience has been for us. Visiting Wetherspòons Sanctuary proved to be enriching and very nostalgic. Many thanks!
