Westy Lane in Warrington

My husband just got 2 salt and pepper boxes and chips and gravy. And a curry sauce for £30! The salt and pepper boxes are a joke! £11 for a small box of soggy chips with 3/4 equally soggy bits of battered chicken. Absolute rip off!! Won't be going again.

One of if not the best chinese takeaways in Warrington. Good selection of food and if you have a big appetite, you can pay £1.50 for a larger portion. Updated review: unfortunately Westy Lane isn’t what it used to be. Food isn’t as good as it was and prices have doubled 😔

Well used to be a great reasonable Chinese went today for lunch special chicken and mushroom, absolutely disgusting mushy rice,bland sauce and undercooked mushroom, also was shocked to say the least they have put there prices up which I no everywhere has but come on guys £11-13.50 for basic dish like salt and pepper chicken and chicken in black bean is absolutely disgusting I will never be returning,it's simply greed especially for food that's only mediocre.your doing yourselves out of business good luck.

Very disappointed with my meal. Turns out that at certain times in the evening, it's a fixed menu. So, I had chicken and rice. With a small tub of sauce. Nowhere near enough. This food was bland. I will now look for another Chinese takeaway where I can order from a full menu to get better flavours.

Worst chinese food in warrington

Really let down, The ribs where full of fat Absolutely zero meat. 3x prawns in our prawn curry. Soup was only half full , literally 6 mouthfuls. Really expensive and not worth the money.

Only 2 stars given as extra strong curry was tasteless. Pie was microved and food massively overpriced. Lastly, cash only. No good to me.

Ordered sweet & sour chicken, beansprout chow mein noodles, crispy chilli beef to takeaway. Got home and there was hardly anything in the containers and it was absolutely TASTELESS! It was like it had been washed over with water so no flavour was there!!! Complete waste and disgusted I'd paid £20! Will NEVER go there again! I'm really angry and it's just pathetic for what they've charged!

Superb Chinese food , would definitely use more often if they Delivered…one of the last few places that do not deliver ..

Was recommended this takeaway by friends and the majority of the food was fine (my partner said) I couldn’t finish mine as the curry sauce was like jelly as if it was made a previous night, that really put me off finishing the meal. Appetisers was nice & portions good.

ordered two beef & broccoli, boiled rice included in price which is £13.00. decided to add a portion of noodles.....went to pay and charged £17!!!!!!! complained to owner/manager and he was adamant it was 'a meal' wtf?????? £4 for a simple portion of noodles????? Never EVER yet been to a Chinese takeaway and been charged £4 for a portion of noodles. Where the hell do they think they are??????? Never again!!!! Thought Dick Turpin was long dead!

Don’t know what’s going on with the chips lately but they look like they have been cooked in old fat and a lot of them still raw and crunchy . Apart from that food really good

I do love this Chinese takeaway. The only criticism i have is the fried rice. Its very brown and gloopy, I chose the soft noodles instead now which are lovely. . Everything else is delicious

I ordered fish the other night after finishing work v late - the gravy was great, but my god the fish was rank! The last time I had fish and chips here the chips were overcooked and nasty too. I suspect they undercooked the fish as it was overly fishy, a bit soggy and just didn't taste good at all... The gravy couldn't mask it either. Won't be returning for a chippy :/

Great value as you can go larger on currys for an extra £1.70 and the same for the rice and you have a choice of 3 heats which is great and it tastes as good as it looks yummy. . And can be shared buy 3 adults. .

This is my favourite chippy, even moved out of the area but travel back there for my special curry, no complains as yet.

This is local to me BUT i travel and this is the best in Warrington. We eat in China town; ao for a takeaway it cannot be beaten!

After reading some negative comments online my family decided to give this place a try and see for ourselves. Glad we did. We had quite a large order as it was for a birthday party, staff very nice and cheerful. You can see where the food is cooked. We had Crispy wontons which were to die for, a full prawn in each one no mushed up prawns used! Ribs lovely and tender, the deep fried combo was really good, prawn toast, ribs, spring rolls and wonton. All the main meals were tasty. We were really puzzled by the negative reviews! 'worst food' sorry there's 5 people who can state the food was delicious and we will be using them again! The menu also warns of any ingredients that may affect certain allergies.

Food was great but the customer service...Awful, I've went there with my family and a friend to pick up some FOOD. I've got ear infection on both of my ears, so I can't hear sometimes (neither myself).. I've approached to have a look at their menú and the Chinese lady was there to take my ORDER STARING AT ME..I'm so fussy with the food so, I've decided to have a little look at it. I'VE TOLD THE LADY TO GIVE ME FEW MINUTES AND SHE WAS THERE WITH A FACE LIKE SHE WAS BETTER THAN ME. I HAD TO REPEAT 3 TIMES AND STILL SHE DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS SAYING 🤣 (I SAID, I NEED A FEW MINUTES PLEASE), AT 4TH ATTEMPT THE ENGLISH LADY TRANSLATED TO HER WHAT I WAS SAYING.....IN THE OTHER HAND, THE ENGLISH LADY IS NOT FRIENDLY AT ALL SHE JUST KEPT SAYING AUTOMATICALLY "HI, YOU'RE OK?" AND THAT WAS IT. NO MANNERS. I WORK IN A SIMILAR INDUSTRY AND YOU CAN SEE WHO REALLY LOVES THIS JOB. IF THEY ARE NOT HAPPY/UNDERSTANDABLE WITH THE CUSTOMERS (SPECIALLY WITH FOREIGN PEOPLE) THEN WHY STILL WORK THERE??? MY PARTNER AND HIS FRIEND DID NOT EAT THERE. MAYBE THAT WAS THE PROBLEM THAT THEY DIDN'T MAKE MONEY OF THEM?

Called in here after returning from Barcelona to get some tea we had fish chips, steak and kidney pudding, mushy peas and curry. All of the food was lovely and hot just think it would be better to offer size portions of chips as there was three of us eating and two lots of chips were still too much. I just feel that it could cut down on waste we had to throw some of ours away. Will go again keep up the good work.

Because in England, food is basically almost everywhere disgusting, and even chinese and asians modifying their foor for british, i havent expected something eatable. Surprisingly, food we had few times was quite tasty. We will return back for sure

This used to be a lovely chinese till it changed hands. I had a meal from there and to be honest it just wasnt what i would have expected. I had chicken fried rice. Tge rice had no taste to it and there were just a few chunks of chicken thrown in. I was dissapointed to say the least.

Slimy lemon chicken was worst chinese ive had rice looked re fried with big clumps in discusting two bites and ended up in the bin

Been going to this Chinese take away for over 10 years. The food was outstanding again tonight.... Love the curries because they make them in different spice levels to suit your taste. They also do an excellent selection of lunchtime special offers

La primera vez que ha preparado a la 'Westy' y seguramente será la última. Pedimos 'Pato asado y las castañas de cajú 'nunca había visto o probado algo así. Junto con el que una porción de patatas fritas que sabían repugnante y frío como era toda la comida. Un buen consejo regularmente cambiar su grasa y sirven comida caliente pipping sería un principio. Toda la comida terminó en la papelera. Lo siento.

Este es un fantástico llevar para la gente del centro de Los Ángeles, siendo uno de los habitantes de la suerte significa que llegar a probar las delicias más a menudo!

Always get a nice meal from here, wether it be fish and chips or the Chinese. Usually get the banquet for 2 and swap a lot of the things to different...never ever a problem.

I have always been a fan of Westy's. However, I think they've pushed their luck with the constant price increases, it's barely affordable anymore

Westy Lane chippy is tucked away on a side street so easy to miss but once you know it's there you'll visit more than once. The 'take away' food is always well cooked and very tasty. The staff are friendly and happy to help.

When we have friends over for a meal they always request that we order from Westy's. Their BBQ ribs are the meatiest and tastiest ribs you will ever get anywhere. If there is a Chinese dish that's not on the menu but you would like, just ask for it and if they have the ingredients they will make it for you. You know you are getting restaurant quality food in this takeaway because the owner used to run one. It's the only place I know where they will make you Mu Shu pork and Wor Tap fish (order well in advance as its a specialist dish). Oh and they deliver while it's still hot!

Bought my husband a sweet and sour chips and rice was served by a very unfriendly lady who was very abrupt.. Got the meal home to find half the chips were green, sweet and sour had no sauce and there was hardly any chicken.. Meal promptly thrown in the bin can safely say we won't be returning!

I have travelled extensively through every Chinese take away in this town and found Westy Lane to offer the least amount of vegetarian/vegan friendly foods... They don't even have Tofu on the menu... I myself am not content with the sub par chips I bought which were some of the worst chips I've ever had! Having travelled to China myself and been more than impressed with the veggie options in the restraunts and how accommodating they were to my vegan beliefs I find this supposed 'Chinese' take away to be very unauthentic! Will definitely not be coming back in less I hear about dedicated veggie/vegan options.

We have been going to Westy Lane chippy for years even though we dont live close to it - just because we love their chicken curry ! I have the mild and my hubby has the hot. Their noodles are delicious too. Will be there again soon.

28 July we went and spent near enough £50!!!! Ordered 3 portions of salt and pepper chicken chunks with rice and chips, bbq ribs, char Sui pork chow mein , chicken chow mein, spring rolls, and a beef in Cantonese sauce with boiled rice. We always use Chinachina but it was shut so we used westy because we have heard good reviews. BUT!!! We will never use westy chippy again! Every meal we ordered tonight was tasteless, salt and pepper chicken was just normal chicken strips you can get from Iceland mixed with veg! It was tasteless. The chow mein dishes just tastes of vegetables and the pork what I had was tasteless!!! The nicest part of the order was the freshly made chips!!! Very disappointed and will advise not to go there. Just want to say we love Chinese food and would not leave a bad comment if we didn't mean it but this was easily the worse Chinese meal we have ordered.

i have been using westy lane for years and years but no more, I usualy get a chinese which for someone who does not use salt there food is normally very bland unless you get something spicy but a couple of days ago i went for an english for a change. A large and a regular chips the only fifferance was the price cos both bage where the same which was regular, The large peas i asked for was only half filled watery and tastless, The hot curry sauce was hot but runny as water. I had a pie which was burned on the bottom it was defo a warm up from another shift.I would of put it down to a bad experiance but for the last two days i have been ill and that is not good from someone who is never ill. wrom a chip shop i always used to recomend as 10/10 i will now try to avoid and give 02/10

My Husband and I use this chippy regularly, where we tend to pick the same meal..... The hot curry. It is the only place that we know that serves two different strengths of curry sauce, and as we like a hot curry, this place is perfect. I also had their fish and chips, they were nice enough! but I would recommend the Chinese instead.I hope this review is useful
