Westview Chinese in Gateshead

I honestly was so unbelievably disappointed by this experience. First time I’ve ordered from here and can safely say it will also be the last. The order was almost an hour late, the man on the phone was dismissive and abrupt both times we called for an ETA and when it did finally arrive, 2 hours after ordering, the disappointment only continued. Items were missing from the order and the items that were there were not great. The portions were tiny, the food was excessively greasy, rice burnt and in clumps, and the food was cold. I hate leaving negative reviews so seldom do but this was just such a poor experience that I feel could have been handled better. Had we had better customer service and the restaurant have made an effort to engage better, then I absolutely would have focused highly on the positives but unfortunately, that was not the outcome.

I was so disappointed. I ordered the most simple type of foods to make (i had non and shops were closed by then) and it had taken over 1 hour to get to my house even though i said it would take approximately 35 minutes to arrive. I ordered two packets of chips that were fine, a box of fried noddles and I simply wanted fried rice and chips and gravy which I should have never wasted my money on. Waiting nearly an hour and half for chips, noodles rice and gravy. Who knew? When I opened my box though I had to also make myself more gravy as it was an absolute pisstake with how little gravy I had received. I had to ring twice after the time it was estimated to come to make sure I had actually placed an order which it was confirmed that I did but then had to wait an extra half and hour to actually receive it at the door. Customer service was appalling and wouldn’t order again.

Food arrived an hour late and the delivery driver has had a field day helping himself to my munchie box, thing was half eaten when arrive. Meant to be salt and pepper chips, 4 chicken balls and 12 spring rolls 😂

If I could give 0 star I would. Food is disgusting would rather eat dog food first and definitely last time I'll be ordering from here. This is an honest review. No flavour. Cold food. Very cheap quality. Do not recommend!!!!

Ordered through Deliveroo. Was almost an hour late. Was mostly cold when it arrived. Rice was undercooked and hard. Noodles were overcooked. Eggs were okay and meat was soft and juicy

The delivery arrived one hour and a half later. I called twice and they kept saying that it was going to be delivered but it wasn’t. Food was cold and the curry bland.

when the food did arrive it was cold and the quality was arwful the rice was clumpy and very overcooked and my battered chicken balls were very doughy and again very over cooked 2 stars is all im prepared to give this meal

Really disappointed with this occasion. Food came way over the estimated time along with it being really cold.

I ordered the vegan box. I wouldn’t order it again. The noodles were not good. The curry sauce had no flavour whatsoever. The onion rings were soggy. And the gravy looked like jelly.

Foods were lovely. Chicken balls were the best ✅

Did not receive food but been charged for it on uber eats will.be following this up noy chucking 30 quid away in nothing uber eats says delivered but I know it hasn't been

phoned takeaway for man on line was very abrupt got no sense out of him kept order out repeatedly and hung up driver never knew what I was on about

Watered down sauce and generally tasteless both dishes

Sad to say that I’m also joining the many people whose food hasn’t arrived, and have now also requested a refund.

Over an hour late so was cold when arrived so had to heat it up food was ok portion sizes aren't the biggest either .

Took over 3 hours for food to finally come and had to hassle them to even get the food in the end. The food was mediocre at best and I am thoroughly disappointed. i expect a full refund for the appalling service.

No apology when i contacted restaurant. Rude and useless. Couldn't wait to hang up and be rid of me. Oh and when i tried to call before finally getting through i was cut off over 8 times. Freezing food and missing food. WOULD NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

Doesn’t even deserve a star to be honest. Won’t answer calls. Waited two hours for no food to even arrive. Clearly only open to take peoples money with no intentions of giving people their orders. Not the only one it’s happened to tonight either. Pathetic people!

Paid 34 quid on just eat at 8.15ish and arrived at 10.50, over 2.5 hours late is not acceptable. I refused the food as we waited that long we ordered another meal from a different place an hour and half after we ordered this and the other one arrived before this one. The phone lines never answered and they didn't accept my request for a refund, I will definitely not return and urge others not to either, ruined our chilled night in ended up giving our lass a hiding over it arguing.

Soup was under the expectation, but chicken and chips were nice

Due to the weather the order was 30mins late on arrival which was understandable as I do live far from the shop. Everything was hot and foods were lush. Will be ordering again.

order was 40 minutes late and the full order was incorrect! sent it back with the delivery man. Boxes were wet, food looked undercooked, will never order again.

food arrived hot!! driver had a smile and was polite. don't get why reviews are bad food was tasty. my only criticism is the chicken was slightly chewey but otherwise everything was spot on.

Order was 20 mins later than maximum estimated time. Almost 2 hours after ordering.

food never arrived, called restaurant to be told 'its on it's way' called back and hour later to be told 'its on it's way' when I explained they said that an hour ago, they hung up and stopped answering the phone.

First and last time we will be ordering from here. We ordered a munchy box and the whole thing was terrible - rice hard and clumped together in solid lumps, chips were over cooked and dry. The chicken batter balls the chicken was hard and over cooked. Delivery was updated at delivered and had to chase before it showed up 15 minutes later. Very disappointed

The meat was chewy and curry sauce was runny wasn’t happy at all especially when we bought it to celebrate a birthday. Very disappointing

Rice was fried burnt and in chunks house special chow main had few bits chicken couple prawns couple beef n was dry I requested sauce in it even chicken curry had more onions n mushrooms than out else tubs they came in wer terrible for the price paid

We got the wrong drinks , we had plain chips when they should have been salt and pepper chips, there was hardly any chips and the food was cold.

I’ve got the wrong items and i phoned up the restaurant and told them, they said they would send out the right items but still waiting and that was an hour ago

noodles very plain , the rice very dry and it looks like is been mixed with soy sauce so that's a very bad minus, the chilli box not happy only found few pieces off salt and pepper chicken which normally is more but this time want and the box it self was less tasty so yeah sorry guys but not the best quality off food tonight! shame cause last time I've order and it was nice this time very disappointed 😞

Lovely food and great delivery time

the food was cold the can of Pepsi was warm. the chicken was hard and dry. everything was brilliant red from the amount of chilli and chilli seed that had been put on the food. the rice was cold, dry and tasteless. only thing salvageable was the can of Pepsi.

chicken was inedible, really though, looks like was boiled and then battered. Will no be using Westview ever again

I have not even been given my food paid for it been taking out my bank and it says on just eat to enjoy my order but no one has dropped any food off please may I have my money back

This was definitely my best Chinese meal 🥘.

This took 2 hours and 20 minutes to arrive. At time of ordering it was around 45 minute delivery. I called the restaurant an hour after ordering to be told it’s on the way, to then wait a further 1 hour and 20 mins.. honest delivery times would be much better!!

The justeat app also changed to signify the food had been delivered 25 minutes before it arrived. I had to call the restaurant to check there hadn't been a mistake. Presumably the restaurant was Telling the system the food had been delivered.

Poor delivery time (estimed between 18:25-18:45), even after the app was updated to say it's on the way. Arrived after 19:10!! Disappointed as this is my go to takeaway!!

Food was great, chocolate fudge cake £4:50 and the slices are tiny, smallest slices i’ve ever seen, it’s like 1 slice cut in half, disgrace

Ordered our food at half 9 was supposed to be delivered at 10:15, rang the restaurant they said the driver delivered our food we said it didn’t come so he sent him back out still at 11:45 no food showed up rang the restaurant back no answer still ended up with no food! Definitely won’t be ordering from here again

most of items missing basically got box of cold chips cpl hard horrible bits of chicken and something else indescribable flung in box for£29 + delivery .. lot went in bin .. ruined date night ..!

Not good! Rice had black chunks in it! Sweet and sour sauce had no taste! Salt and pepper chips were orange and horrid just loads of chilli flakes all over them!

food was not very nice. soup did not taste like won ton soup it tasted like cardboard. won't be using again.
