We went here for an impromptu lunch today. We both had fish and chips. I'm not a chip fan so asked for a jacket potato with butter and this was not a problem. The battered fish was the best we've tasted in recent times. Beautiful and sparkling fresh with gorgeous big flakes. The owner told us it had only been delivered at 12 noon and it showed. The jacket potato was delicious and so were the chips The tartare sauce was great and so were the mushy peas. Completely flawless. For 2 generous portions and 2 diet cokes it cost £26 and it was worth every penny. We'll be back

Bit of a mixed bag really. First, and very important .... do NOT go here if you have any disability. The toilets are a hard climb up thirteen steps to the upper level. Add to this that there is only a handrail on one side, then if you use a stick to walk you will find either going up or going down a challenge, depending on what hand you use for the stick. Confusingly, there is a stairlift fitted but it doesn't work ! The owner was very helpful, and friendly, and we decided to both go with the fish and chips. The chips were absolutely superb, crisp and properly cooked. The batter for the fish was OK, but the fish itself was pretty tasteless and neither of us ate much of it. It was nearly all left. I think we made the wrong decision on what to eat, as several people came in for the afternoon tea of sandwiches and cakes. These looked absolutely gorgeous, and if the cakes were as good as the ones we had with our coffee there would have been no disappointment. So, as I said ... a bit of a mixed bag. Some stuff was good iike the cakes, but the fish was pretty awful really. Don't know what kind it was, but it certainly didn't taste like cod or haddock. Our biggest challenge was climbing the stairs to the loo, as both of us are slightly disabled. And speaking of the loos ... there was no toilet paper, just a roll of blue paper that the notice on the wall said NOT to put down the toilet.

After looking at their website I decided to take my wife & a friend out for lunch. The place was very busy with take away food but we were the only people having lunch & it was 1pm. We all chose fish & chips & for myself & friend lunch was o.k. except for the chips arriving pre salted by the chef.. I mentioned that it wasn't appropriate as I had high blood pressure & would never ask for pre salted chips, she said she would tell the chef. We did not get any feedback from the waitress. The cakes were pretty decent but I think they could give better customer service so I only rated them as average!

Been twice to this great cafe in Cupar, in both occasions we’ve had the beef burger with fries and then on the way out taken a couple of the excellent tray bakes as takeaway for later. We’re returning for a third time soon and looking forward to having the fish and chips this time.

Used the takeaway menu tonight. We ordered fish, chips, lemon and home made tartare sauce and an Angus burger with chips. The delivery was free and arrived at our house before the approximate arrival time. The food was piping hot and of superior quality. I’ve had a couple of disappointing battered fish recently ( Anstruther fish bar - I’m looking at you) but this one made everything ok again. My partner’s burger was also excellent. We will certainly be ordering again. Very pleased with the quality.

Decided to try here for a breakfast on the recommendation of some of the reviews. Unfortunately due to having a dog we had to sit outside. This wasn’t a problem until I noticed that the table was disgusting. It hadn’t been cleaned in god knows how long and wasn’t cleaned prior to us being served our food. I ordered the full breakfast which comprised of bacon that was still stuck in a folded position when served. A greasy square sausage, black pudding and haggis that was grilled to make it as dry as Gandhi’s flip flops, a sunny side up egg that the yolk was solid. The beans were good, then how hard is it to heat some beans. I asked if it comes with tea and toast and was advised this was extra. Declining the toast I ordered a pot of Tea. The small cup provided managed to accommodate a cup and a half. Not even could I squeeze out 2 cups of tea to was down this dried up effort of a cooked breakfast.

The staff work quickly and politely especially the dark haired lady who was working this Saturday morning alone when we arrived about 9:30am. She worked quickly ensuring that everyone ordered and received fantastic coffee without delay. The breakfast selection is great for a small cafe and we enjoyed filled rolls and the full breakfast. I had high hope for this place as it won an award last year. I went there for a coffee and light meal at lunchtime on a weekday. I was meeting a friend who also had not been there before. The service was prompt and friendly. I ordered coffee and pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. The coffee tasted slightly stewed and the pancakes, although very tasty were almost cold as they had been served on a cold plate. During our meal a door next to the main door to the cafe was opened to allow for the kids from Bell Baxter to come in. This door was left open and eventually I asked if it could be closed as it was quite chilly. It is also very noisy as the tables are very close together. Don't think I will be going back there again.

Situated on the Main Street through Cupar this establishment has seating inside as well as covered pavement tables and chairs... not forgetting the "take away" option.A cracking selection of cafe type meals complemented by freshly baked home make cakes etc. Pleasant staff provide table service with counter service applicant for take away items. However be warned you might intend having a home made burger with fries and salad, perhaps a panini or maybe soup & sandwich... but you will end up topping things off with the home baking. The Westport Cafe is relatively new, but I have been visiting it for a few months now. It's open throughout the day and offers light meals, snacks, tea, coffee and the like. What makes it distinctive is the quality of the food, which is baked and cooked onsite and is excellent. It seems silly to single out fruit scones, but they are characteristic of what is on offer - absolutely delicious light scones which melt in the mouth ; with a cup of very good coffee, a first-rate snack. They are baked first thing, so if you go in at 9.30 or so, they are completely fresh and still warm. There are also other scones and cakes which are of the same high standard. Staff are friendly - usually just the cook/baker (a young man) and one waitress (sometimes two) and the cafe is comfortable and the decor attractive. This is a new cafe which, in a very competitive environment, deserves to succeed, and currently there is every sign that it will do so, Highly recommended!

What a disappointment. I found the Bothy at Boglily on TA, loved the look of the place, the gorgeous photos of cooked food on their site and the good reviews. We are doing a road trip and this was going to be our Sunday morning treat. The car park was jammed with cars and we saw people standing in a queue to pet baby goats. Upon entering the inviting Bothy and asking a young man for a table, we were told that we couldn’t bring our dog in. Fair enough. Not every dining establishment is dog-friendly. Though I was a bit surprised as the restaurant is in a buffalo farm, there’s a petting zoo and it’s in the countryside. The sun was shining so I asked if we could order our meal and sit at the table on the deck, directly next to the door of The Bothy (see photo for proximity). The young man’s response was that they don’t offer takeaway. I queried whether a table one step from the door qualified as takeaway. It reminded me of the TV ad with the man trying to buy potatoes at a farm shop and being told that he can only pay with digital currency. People taking themselves so seriously that they don’t think of the customer experience. We had driven up from our holiday cottage at Kinghorn especially to get a nice cooked breakfast from their lovely menu, so my surprise and disappointment were apparent. I was directed to the outdoor kiosk they call the Milk Bar to order something from their limited selection. We ordered one Double Cheese Toastie with fries, a latte, an affogato milkshake ( made with buffalo milk ice cream) and a scone, which was on their menu. The two lovely servers told me that they don’t sell scones outside and I would have to go to the Bothy Café to get one. When I explained that I had been told up there that I couldn’t get anything from them takeaway, the young woman offered to go get one for me. They were both very sweet and I apologised for my previous grumpiness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the trouble. The cheese toastie and fries were served in a cardboard tray. The toastie was on “cheap white bread” according to my partner. I didn’t taste it. The fries and the milkshake however, were excellent. My scone was dry, cold and crumbled into breadcrumb texture when I tried to spread some butter on it. The crumb was impossible to pick up and eat but my dog liked it. It wasn’t worth eating for me as it then began to rain and we had to head for the car. I can’t help but think that the very cheerful, welcoming and upmarket website promises more than it delivers.
