The hotel looks really impressive from the outside. Inside the style is a little dated in some places but this was outweighed by the attentive staff and great overall experience. The attic room I stayed in was ideal for a one night stop. The bed was comfortable, the room was spotless. And the rainfall shower was perfect. There was a good choice for breakfast, friendly helpful waiting staff and I appreciated being served a full pot of proper coffee. This was a convenient place to stop en route up north. One piece of advice - park in the middle of the car park away from the overhanging trees if you can to avoid a bird poo covered car in the morning.

Looks lovely from the outside, but there is water damage on the inside of the hotel in the rooms. Wallpaper peeling and stained ceilings. Would not stay again. Staff pleasant enough

Afternoon Tea Lovely location Afternoon tea superb actually outstanding .endless tea coffee extra sandwiches great cakes and scones too . The staff wonderful attentive . Only downside lack of disabled parking two spaces ..this was so difficult for me to park and then walk with sticks.. need more disabled spaces. The other was the dining chairs very uncomfortable. Next time I book I will book the sofa seats for comfort due to my disability. But other than those little issues everything was perfect and would highly recommend...

Visited the new Stone & Ivy restaurant in the hotel for my husbands birthday. One of the most pleasant and tasty meals we have had in a long time in the local area! Don't wait on visiting this place the food was very good and reasonably priced (definitely give the mutton wellington a try it was incredible, I managed to get a bite off my husbands plate!). Service was really good, the manager of the restaurant was lovely to talk to and while this may be a new venture you can tell this will be something amazing! (Cocktails please! 🤣)

Beautiful old building with grounds including secure car park. Small reception immediately through front door with helpful staff (bit slow). I was allocated a room on the top floor which meant climbing 3 flights of stairs and winding corridors. Room was compact to say the least, however had all required amenities. Bathroom small and a bit cramped due to roof elevation. Breakfast is served in main restaurant with varied menu selection (hotel was busy with service a bit slow). Main bar serving drinks and bar food is adequate. No real atmosphere as only radio playing, no television. Hotel is a bit tired like many following COVID. Reasonable price compensates but not a returning favourite for me.

My husband and I stayed for one night at £85. We had a small room at the end of the corridor. Room 34. The bed was comfortable. Tv in the room. Wardrobe, mirror, and small desk. Kettle and drinks in place. The bathroom had a bath and shower. A lovely large shower head. Towels included. The bathroom ceiling looked run down. Staff were very friendly on arrival and check out. Would stay again.

Just been today for a chocolate afternoon with a group of ladies excellent service food of very high standard and freshly made. The staff were very attentive we even got to speak to Chef. The hotel is lovely and we had the room to ourselves which was lovely and made it easy for us all to chat.

Doesnt cater for all needs. Needed a plug near the bed for a machine, and asked for an extension lead, lady was nice, but then came back with go to Tesco or sleep opposite end of the bed and use a plug near tv. It's not very practical. When I had a shower, the room became a steam room. Opened the window to assist as the fans weren't working, to then have the rear working yard, so had the fans from the kitchen blasting, kitchen staff etc. So I had to close the window and hope the steam didn't set off the alarms
