This spot is good for a casual get together, decent food selection and welcoming atmosphere, would recommend to anyone in the area

The men's toilets are disgusting. Urine all over the floor, no toilet paper and no soap in the dispenser to wash your hands. Needs a visit from the environmental health to sort the management out.

Popped in for lunch , pub was quiet. Had a burger and chips and my mother in law had the OAP special 2 courses for £6.90 . burger was nice MIL had all day breakfast, menu looked good , through the week 2 meals are £15

Lovely atmosphere friendly staff amazing food. Sunday roast was amazing please book in advance. We love it there, themed night too always something going on, great place to watch the footie too. Pool tables and dart boards a great all round pub

Lovely food and friendly helpful and polite staff. The OAP offer is great not only because of price but also portion size. The only downside is that it's the same offering every week so becomes boring as even us OAP like a bit of variety for a change. Will give it a miss for a few weeks for that reason which is a great pity!

The food was so good and great value for money. The in-laws had the senior menu which they really enjoyed. There's a really nice atmosphere as well.

We had a fantastic meal last week. Not only was the food excellent but the service was first class - the staff were very efficient and coped calmly when a large group turned up un-expectedly. The desserts were to die for.... Also, there was a good range of drinks on offer from draught beers to a wine my partner likes. We will return!

First time visiting for food and it didn't disappoint. Had the 8oz steak and it was bloody lovely and was cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and polite. Will definitely be back

Just had a fantastic meal, my son said it was the best chicken burger he has had, my wife loved her fish and chips and my daughter really enjoyed her chicken nuggets and was really excited that she got to pick her sides whilst I really enjoyed the steak and pepper corn sauce, highly recommend, Tracey is a fantastic chef and dawn and jack were both really friendly and helpful 😀😀

Had a lovely afternoon catching up with friends. 8 of us chose from the 2 for £15 menu. Lots of different choices on the menu. We were all happy with the quality and quantity of the food, which was served piping hot.

Last night we went to West House for tea. Our meal was out of this world. Staff was brillant. We got diasbled daughter and she so fussy with her food and even she enjoyed her food. staff and new mangement and so much time for our daughter who autistic. Thank you for lovely meal. See u soon

We had lovely meals at the West house Bridgend , great to see all the social distancing undertaken as soon as you enter the premises. Staff were friendly and courteous throughout . Brought our soft drinks to the table , Scampi meal and Fish & Chips were lovely and filling. Hope we are able to have more meals here in the future . Well worth a visit any day of the week !

New owners but have to confess was pleasantly surprised Sunday dinner was awesome really enjoyed.New owner was very professional and was watching all the time to ensure everyone was seen to. We can always count on having a delicious meal here. Just had fish chips and mushy peas which was absolutely delicious, the fish was melt in your mouth as was the batter. Can't praise it highly enough.

The bar man is rude and abrupt, no customer service care what so ever. He clearly doesn't care how the place is perceived. Could do with a make over too, its all a but shabby.

Went for Sunday lunch with a party of 12 people , pre booked but only 9 seats. Food was realy nice, beer very expensive. Beware because they only give you 60 mins on the table. That includes 10 minutes queuing for food. Two people in our party ordered desert , but had to abandon the table before they finished. So we stood in the middle of the room to finish our drinks the off we went.

Fantastic steaks and curry all helped by fantastic staff! Will definitely visit in the very near future! Thanks everyone!

Called into the West House for Sunday carvery lunch while visiting my father. Great value and the team at WH couldn't have been more accommodating, helpful and friendly. Thanks from me and my Dad.

Introduced my parents from North Wales to this place and it didn’t dissapoint. Food was just awesome & the staff couldn’t do enough to make sure we where comfy. Only small negative was it does smell greasy by the toilets maybe a little more ventilation needed. But we loved the food that much we went there the next night too! Highly recommended is the cottage pie & Lasagna.

Beautiful food every time we visit! More than excellent value for money! Fantastic friendly staff. Dart board and pool table. Good range of entertainment. Visably a lot of hard work has gone into making this a lovely venue! Mandy and the team are absolutely Fab! Will not eat steak anywhere else but here now

I've had several Sunday lunches and never been disappointed. Good home cooking, proper gravy. Very well priced, never tried the desserts as yet as been too full 😋 Would recommend booking.

We went here and ordered two burgers. However we didn't like the meat so didn't eat them. Chips were nice and the meal was well presented. Another downside was that we weren't asked if how the food was. The staff are really friendly. The place could do with a bit of a refurb. I would recommend booking otherwise you may be crammed into the bar like us unfortunately. Would possibly return but wouldn't have the burgers.

This is our 4th visit and I can say I've never had a bad meal here. The food is outstanding and great value for money. We had a few different meals all cooked perfectly. Also the children's meals are great value for money. Great place.

This is the 4th time as a large group we have been here and never had a problem only with the hot water in toilet bring scolding which they saw to straight away. Good entertainment when it’s been there and the food is served quickly nice and hot and cooked to perfection 10/10

The 6oz rump steaks remain as excellent as ever for tenderness, flavour and value for money and the fish & chips and pork chops also came up to expectations. Where else can you get such quality food for the prices paid. We will return for sure. Just a couple of very minor comments/suggestions ie if you are a rare steak eater ask for it to be served on a plate (rather than a hot plate as it will go on cooking) and please add (West House) sparkling water to your drink choices.

Recently went for lunch at the West House, friendly welcome from the staff and shown to our table. Had a look at the menu and went to the bar to order our food, unfortunately you have to order your food and drinks separately and they only accept cash, but this wasn't a problem for us.

We visited here on Tuesday 18th June for a meal with friends, my husband had mixed grill which was fabulous, very large portion, I had chicken curry, friends had hunters chicken, chicken pie, the meals were excellent, staff very friendly & attentive, it was reasonably priced & we were made to feel very welcome, a lovely place to visit

Lovely food, dinner like my gran used to make with lovely thick gravy. Choice of beef/turkey or both and help yourself to mash, swede, cabbage, carrots and peas - all for £6.95. The staff are friendly and very polite. You do queue for the carvery but it goes really quick. On the down side parking can be a nightmare.

1st time visit as my mum was visiting food was cooked as we wanted and the dessert as outstanding the service staff were very helpful. I will definitely be coming back

We walked from the Broadlands over to the West House as we haven’t been here in years. Greeted by a lovely lady who asked if we’d reserved a table. We hadn’t but she told us we’d be ok within a time limit which we didn’t mind. Got our pints of Doom Bar from the bar (fab pint) & perused the menu. There was no veggie chilli available so we both had the butternut squash tagine with rice. Delivered quite quickly, very tasty & satisfying. (No photo sorry) we noticed how clean the tables were (need to refresh beer mats regularly) and the area around. Brushed around when table vacated. We moved into the bar next door once we finished our meals to finish our drinks. Spacious bar with huge tv for sports & pool table - it was quiet as we were quite early, but imagine there would be a good atmosphere here if there was a crowd. Satisfying trip and will go back for sure.

Lovely Sunday lunch. Gorgeous buttery mashed potato and choice of three meats. Friendly and professional staff especially when dealing with a extremely rude customer. The lady behind the bar explained very politely that the place was cash only and that there was a cash point in the bar area and he was rude and saying quite loudly how ridiculous it was and the staff remained friendly and professional throughout

Heard quite a few reviews so tried it out for lunch at 1:30 on a Friday . Bar with pool table virtually empty . Shown to a table in lounge. View plentiful choice menu then ordered at bar. £6 hunters chicken ordered with mash but delivered with chips... very swiftly changed and all boiling hot .

Walked in just for a drink or two. I sat down at an empty table. 10 minutes later a waitress came up to me and apologised explaining that the table was reserved. I apologised and then noticed the reserved sign on the table. No problem I went into the bar. Just as I was leaving a barman from behind the bar said to the waitress, " you've moved the moron then". I know he was refering to me and luckily I do not take offence easily. If members of staff refer to people like this then they need to be removed. A simple mistake turned me into a moron by an idiot barman. Not a good feeling. I will not post his photo because I am kinder than that. Shamehe ian't the same.

Myself and my family came here to have some food and stay for the singer. We all ordered separately but as we were in a group the order didn't go into the kitchen until everyone had paid. We all had our food together, it all came out hot and I have to say my curry was really tasty. Good value for money here too. The singer was very good too (although I maybe biased as she's family)

Went there for mother birthday meal 8 of us food was served all together and piping hot the food was lovely staff were friendly and helpful would go again very nice

We found this little gem just a few months ago. As the title suggests, the service is very good here, and all the meals we have tried were delicious. Also , its set back from the noise and bustle of Bridgend, our local town. Definitely recommend this place.

What used to be the "West House Hotel" when I was a lad in the 1950s, is now just called the "West House". It was a local pub, I grew up just some 200 yards from it. What a change, until lately I haven't been in here for 50 years. it's now a Gastro-Pub serving up some great food off the a la carte menu........but also a superb Sunday Lunch, you've got to book, the sittings are on the hour 12pm-3pm, one course (Currently £6.95 Adults & £4 odd for children).

Came out as a last minute Saturday girly lunch, with my sister, little niece and mam. Our food was amazing, really good value for money! Staff were so lovely, couldn't do enough, especially Laura, I believe her name was. Blonde lady, very kind and friendly, an asset to the team! She also gave us a santa letter to do with the baby which was a lovely touch to the day :) Definitely be coming back again....

Went for Sunday lunch with friends and had the carvery , the service was much better this time and the food was very good, well seasoned , the only bad thing to say is the gravy was very very very thick but it tasted ok and for only £6.95 , there were roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, sage and onion stuffing, mashed potatoes, mashed swede, carrots and cabbage, choice of 2 meats, beef,turkey and pork

Booked a table for six but we could have sat ten, food service and and prices are top of the glass would highly recommend this place x

Visited with my husband and 4 of our friends for lunch. We had a selection of meals between us, each of which was delicious. We are regular diners at the West House and can not recommend them enough. Meals are always hot and nicely cooked. Staff are very friendly, especially Glenys who takes your orders. We always take cards with us to give to friends and family as this is a little gem when you are looking fir a nice pub meal.

Very rude staff, I witnessed a member of staff shouting at young children that then when on to shout an swear at there mother/responsible adult. This pub is supposed to be family friendly yet there was nothing friendly about the managers attitude to boys playing. I would not recommend this pub for families as she is a disgrace for a manager

On visiting The West Housr last Sunday (29/July/2018) for Sunday Lunch I decided to have a couple of beers before lunch and then had a message that I had ti get home to receive a delivery.

Absolutely beautiful meals.Especially the Sunday Carvary.Good prices,exellent quick service and very friendly staff.This is our saturday lunchtime stop off on the way to porthcawl and sunday stop off on the way home Highly recommended

Had Saturday lunch, always book. I had the 6oz gammon, my wife had the ham egg and chips. Very quick service, very hot food well cooked.

I've visited here for food on a number of occasions and it's always been great. Two weeks ago I went up and had a 6oz rump and my word was it the tastiest steak I've ever had....Yes it was. I'm a fusspot when it comes to food especially steak. It was done to perfection, succulent and so yummy. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed food so much. My only regret was not ordering the 12oz. Last week; feeling really hungry, I had the 12oz. It was heaven on a plate. Quality food, low prices and friendly amazing staff.

We had been told the West House, Bridgend done a good Sunday lunch. We went last weekend and had a very nice lunch for £6.50 ppl. Small portions but delicious food and smart service.

I visited the west house last night with friends and was greeted by a smiling barman who served us our drinks promptly and advised us on the wine. He provided an ice bucket for the wine without being asked and service from him and the waitress who showed us to our table was very pleasant and friendly. The food was hot, tasty and absolutely stunning. It was cooked to perfection and I made sure the chefs were complimented. Credit where it is due we come here often and enjoy but last nights meal and bar service was outstanding. Well done west house particularly the chefs on last nights shift. Would thoroughly recommend and we will continue to visit regularly.

Visted here this evening after booking a table as recommended , due to the need for an early evening meal , and was not disapointed , the service was very good and the food was very well presented and tasty also reasonably priced will deffinately return .

Another Camera Club morning out this time we had been to the 500year old St John's House at Newcastle area of Bridgend and we had a recommendations to book the Westhouse and we were not disappointed a warm welcome on entrance by the staff.

They now have a takeaway service which will deliver to your door most days of the week.

We have visited the West House as a family several times on different days and at different times and it's always extremely busy - booking is advisable!

Me and my partner visit here numerous times a month , the service is absolutely brilliant, the staff are all friendly and kind and nothing is a trouble to them! The food is so yummy and so cheap , would recommend if you like some good pub food !

This was our second visit but this time we had something to eat. Great place nice and clean. Don’t take cards but have a free cash machine on the premises. Menu loads of choice and very good price. Food was plentiful and very good value for money. Just a good all round place that has entertainment on certain nights. No airs and graces just simply lovely !!!

Went for sat lunchtime. Good value menu. Really enjoyed all our meals and surprised how big they are for the price. Staff very friendly. Meals were cooked very quickly . Plenty of parking. Would recommend and return here. Only given 4 star cos place could do with an uplift.

service was good considering how many people were there. The food was nice except my steak was a little think considering the price. Disappointed when we were told that we had to leave by 9 o clock because our teenagers were under the age of 18 and legally not aloud to be there. We should have been informed before hand so we were aware instead of surprised at the information.

Originally booked over the phone, two VITAL questions asked, Firstly Wheelchair access and secondly Vegetarian option. Was told by a lady it's was nut roast but definitely not asked to order this prior.

I had food here recently, the food was nice, and very reasonably priced. £1 per slice of plastic cheese in a burger is a bit much though. I wouldn't recommend the pies, they just look like chip shop pies that have been microwaved. They do have a large selection on their menu, so theres something for everyone. Desserts are very nice. I will be returning.

Popped in the other night to find they had braised steak as a special. Had that with colcannon and gravy - very good indeed and crazy value for less than a fiver. WIll come back for sure.

Everyone enjoyed their meal in my family. Only down side was it was very noisy when we visited but can't really knock them down for that. This clearly shows they are doing something right. We will definitely be back.

This was thurs 22nd ,We were going home on the 23rd so we wanted get together meal with friends who live here.The west house is 1st class for a meal, 2 of us had 6 Oz rump mushroom peas on skillets with chips n salad ,1had the Xtra large fish n chips n my wife had the scampi n chips n salad which is her favourite .we've eaten out at a few different places over the past 2wks n the west house does the best scampi,my wife thinks so!! Come to that the steaks were Bob on to.. The drinks the service, we find the waitress pay u attention throughout ur meal It's a bit of alright.I'm disabled n this place is OK for wheelchairs too.

Where else can you get a rare 6oz rump steak (cooked to perfection) with all the trimmings including chips, mushrooms, onion rings and a side salad for £5.95 and a large freshly cooked cod and chips for just a couple of Pound more.

Very nice friendly place. I come here on a regular basis with disabled people and the staff are great. The place is very clean and the meals are good sizes and great prices. Definitely worth a visit

We have gone to the rock inn porthcawl and since they moved to brigend the staff are lvly as allways it.s the 6 time we been to the west house and food is allways stunning steak and curry fish gammon outstanding food on every visit you got to try it

Went here last Nite for what I wanted was a nice quiet meal.. was I wrong.. staff at the door and near the bar were chatting loudly to what seemed like regulars of a man and woman. The language was very un savoury the staff just bantered more an were laughing loudly, I was not impressed . The food itself was lovely but they should have people use the bar area when meals are being served to tone down the noise level.. didn't even get a bye thank you for coming either as they were so involved with the noisy couple ...will return at some point but will check the bar for noise before I sit down for food

Very quiet, even with the schools holidays.Good choice of meals, generous portion sizes, negating the need for dessert ( for me, a bad thing, since I always start with dessert and work backwards on the menu!!!!)Very attentive staff,food delivery very prompt. If anything, my opinion of this place is lower than before.

The proprietors of the Westhouse pub and restaurant are the same people that used to run the Rock pub in Porthcawl , I should need say no more because the food there was excellent . And they have continued the good work at the Westhouse , We have been going here now, on and off for a good few months now and have never been disappointed , good food and excellent value for money ,we look forward to many more Sundays at the Westhouse.

We booked for 12.30 got there at 12 a very warm welcome from the staff we sat done then we order the food at 12 .10..the steaks and 2 surf+turf we had food 15mins later food very warm and 3 pepper corn sauces food was stunning it come to£44 ...5 meals best food around if you want good food this is the place to go

The Westhouse is never going to be cordon bleu however if you're after excellent value pub grab type food this is your place.

Went to the west house as the people who run this establishment used to run the Rock in Porthcawl and that was really nice food but was very disappointed with our meals . My partner had steak but was tough and very fatty and my home made chilli was tasteless so will definitely not return .
