West Highlands Bar in Highland

A night & day difference to my previous visit at The Merchant bar just around the corner. The barmaid here was super friendly and welcoming, very engaging, conversational, and it really makes a difference. I would definitely pop back here when I'm in the area.

Very slow, they tell you that their dataphone doesn't work, but if you tell them that you don't have cash, card payment magically starts working...

Nice spot for a quick lunch and watch a sporting event on the telly. The only issue I had was I had to raise my hand to get the server's attention to have someone assist me. Took me a few minutes to realize I had to do that.

The best steak I had for a long time. Perfect medium cooked.

Warm and still beer, the explanation was “it's the way an Ale is served.” Beer without gas and also warm, the explanation was “is the way that Ale supposed to be”

They also serve cocktails which are okay Most of them a bit too sweet for my taste

Just having a pint and decided to order some food. Mackerel Chowder followed by Lamb shoulder with Haggis and beetroot. Absolutely stunningly tasty food cooked to perfection washed down with a lovely pint of Skye Gold Ale. Perfection 👌

I really like the foods and drinks. I went in three restaurants in Potree and here for me the food is the more tasty!

Hotel pub where you can enjoy good beers and good food, you need to book because it's always full

Just stopped in for a quick pint so didn't sample the food. Friendly locals at the small bar. Staff were polite enough. Busy place so you might have a wait to get a table.

I had the opportunity to visit this bar twice during my time in Portree, over 4 days. The second time being a stop off on my Skye Trail hike. The staff were so pleasant and helped to get my food quickly even though they were very busy, I really needed some good food! I wasn’t disappointed, I just wanted a burger and chips. It was a great burger. A very good meat Pattie salsa and cheese, crispy and hot chips with a gin and tonic to help it down, or two! Highly recommended

Did us dirty when we stopped for a pint of Guiness and a malt of the month whiskey special. Charged us 50 quid for a pint and the whiskey. Didn’t notice until the next day and they didn’t warn us their whiskey special was 20 something a shot. Watch your check!

Food and setting is nice but I had a feeling they didn't want me there. Ignored me very often when I put my hand up and took forever to take away dirty plates or cups. Might treat you better if you look like you're gonna tip more.

Well below average. It's the week before high season, but the food was tremendously underwhelming. It's my fault for choosing to eat here. Learn from my mistake, eat elsewhere in Portree. Amended after receiving the bill: charge 2 pounds 40 for tap water. Total tourist trap ripoff, avoid this skinflint place. Avoid Portree altogether if you can...drive right on past.

Schöne Bar, gute Atmosphäre, nette Bedienung. Die Preise sind etwas kräftig. Wir waren am Freitag Abend da, was mit cooler Live Music unterlegt war.

Cozy place to grab a bite to eat while driving through the highlands. Menu is limited but fresh and quality. Staff is friendly. Keep in mind most restaurants don’t open till noon so if a cruise or tour bus stops they get a flood of people at one time. They did a great job of juggling the extra people. Prices were definitely reasonable.

Intentamos entrar a tomar algo y primero en recepción nos dieron paso, pero cuando entramos al bar nos dijeron que volviéramos a preguntar en recepción, y a una pareja que estaba detrás si les dejaron entrar. Me pareció muy feo que no nos dejaran entrar por el aspecto de montañeros muy posiblemente y tener la mala educación de dejar entrar a otros delante nuestros. Muy triste. Sin duda nunca iría a un lugar así

Loved this place when we were here always welcoming. There was a lovely blonde lass who looked after us so much on our first night. And Sandy the bar man is actually a legend. Knew what we wanted before we knew we wanted it. Food was good, drinks were great 👍 Well done guys!

As always the food was excellent. The burgers get better each time. My partner got 2 starters and both were huge portions. The fish barely fitted on the plate that my son had. Never had a bad meal, great staff and great food

I'm from the New Enland coastline, in the US. This place still has some of the best fish and chip I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend it.

Interesting place with little "green houses" outside. Nice staff, decent prices, good beer.

Lunch menu bit boring. No deserts served at lunch time unlike other places. Customer service girls friendly and efficient. Only need to improve menu for a mix of visitors..

Great service, decent prices, private greenhouse seating outside with a Bluetooth speaker was an added bonus that we enjoyed a lot. An introverts dream, would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Skye!

Before visiting Portree I had attempted to make reservations for drinks at various places through there websites, however, nowhere offered online booking. Decided it would be best to try and get a free seat while we were there. Outside the bar there were plenty of free seats, therefore we decided to enter and see if we could get a drink. There was no signage at that point stating the door was exit only and we were met with an unfriendly staff member who told us we were in an exit only door and would have to book a table in advance. Now I understand that booking in advance has became the norm since COVID, but how are you supposed to pre-book tables when you are most likely only visiting Skye for a short period of time and there are no ways to book online, or at least no clear ways to book.

Really enjoyed the fish and chips and the fish soup. The food is reasonably priced too. Almost gave it a 4 due to the slower than desired service but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt as it was quite busy.

When we got in the restaurant from a cold rainy weather, the waiters made us wait a couple of long minutes for our table. When we were finally seated-on the edge of the bar and the restaurant, we were kept waiting until they sorted out every last problem with all the other customers until they finally came to us and asked for our order. We were cold and quite unpleasant with the service here. The food was ok.
