Staff was very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was good but the food was awful the mince was just yuck and the mash tatties was lumpy and had a really bad taste to it from using bad butter and being reheated

Nice place for a quick snack at a reasonable price ..woman that served us was a bit grumpy but there again it was a Monday morning

Sadly, I have to say this was the worst breakfast I have had in a very long time - seemingly cheap ingredients (all appear to be deep fried), my order was incorrect when it was brought to the table, and I had to argue to get it rectified. The service and food quality was not worth the £15 charged for a full breakfast. Apparently, Charlie's used to be a 'go to' for the locals, but it seems this isn't the case anymore. One to avoid if you are in the area.

Good range of food in a clean environment just in Inverness bus station! The scary female server put me off my breakfast roll!! Clearly does not like her job!! Shame!

We had spotted this cafe for breakfast before catching the bus at the nearby station. Upon entering, we immediately realised that it was a place more suited for savoury breakfasts than sweet ones, which was confirmed by looking at the pastry section of the counter. While we were struggling to choose what to order, we overheard the barista say to another customer, "They’re Italian, they jumped the line." If you see two people who aren’t locals and aren’t in the right place, you could kindly tell them and direct them to the supposed line. This definitely didn’t happen. We left and went to another cafe where they treated us with kindness.

This place is nice and near bus station. It has regular meals and foods and not too fancy. Offers coffee, snacks and vegan options as well. Not suitable if you are looking for a cozy, romantic place. Good to sit for sometime if you have to wait for bus to come. Good location but nothing scenic. Good taste of food although

Ordered an omelet and a coffee. Omelet was very good 👍 . One of the only places that was near us that was opened. Very grateful 🙏. The lady who served us was very patient. The prices are good too. I will be back!

It's a great and simple cafe. The food is fairly priced and filling. Staff are lovely. It's an Inverness institute for good reason.

Nice, old fashioned cafe with good food and friendly staff. Down to earth and amazing value for money. Definitely worth a visit.

Food mediocre. I ordered two baked potatoes, one for me and one for my partner. The potatoes were not much bigger than baby potatoes and very dry. The accompanying tuna mayo had the consistency of wallpaper paste. The prices on the menu seem very reasonable but £5.95 for a tiny baked potato is far from acceptable.

Food is much as you would expect, fresh, hearty, hot, and tasty. One thing…if you’re a coffee drinker, stick to the tea!

Great place to go , girls love it

Very good, right next to the bus station, can get busy for breakfast as they're well known for their breakfasts which are rather filling. Service is wonderful, has a family owned feeling and its a little bit traditional. Great for proper lunches too.

Great place to wait for the bus, much better option than the bus station cafe which is only open very limited hours. Keep up the good work Charlie we appreciate you so much.

The only cafe that is opened early before 8 am. Food just mediocre. But it is the only choice for a hot breakfast before going to the inverness tour

Charlie's is my go to place for a quick breakfast, lunch or coffee. It's unpretentious and has a simple retro feel unique to Inverness city centre, a bit like an American diner. Straightforward food at straightforward prices. Located next to the bus station, with views of what's coming and going, its a good place to watch out for a bus and catch a drink/snack.

A real gem if you are looking for an old-fashioned diner. The recent change of ownership doesn’t seem to have affected the offering or the atmosphere. The ladies looking after the counter and the food are magnificent, the true stars of the show. The food is excellent for a diner and the service is perfect.

This is a proper Café with great food. Pop in for a cup of tea or an all day breakfast. The macaroni cheese is good too. We had hot chocolate, bovril, coffee and tea to drink amd a nice toastie, roll with lorne sausage and full breakfast. Dog friendly and good value.

It's a place with fast, cheap, good food and super fast and efficient service. The history of the place presented in photos since 1950 left me enchanted. Very cool. Better than going to a well-known English franchise location.

I have been coming here now and again for many years and remember the old place and Charlie himself. So for me it always feels special to pop in for a coffee and a Bacon roll.

If I had read on previous reviews that this place was near the bus station, it may have been easier to find,as most people know where to find the local bus station. Once there, there was a good choice of breakfast items and reasonably priced.It came out hot and fresh testing .

I went here after walking the Great Glen Way. It is straight forward, honest cafe next to the bus station. Big portions of hot food and drink. Loads of fruit too. Rapid service and very reasonable prices. A steady stream of interesting customers. A brilliant place to refuell and kill time. Highly recommended over every other cafe in Inverness.

Great breakfast, inexpensive and delicious. The staff was very nice and friendly and also refilled our water bottles for us. The one star deduction is for the toilet experience. To get into the toilets you have to make eye contact with the counter staff and staying for a long time leads to a queue in front of the toilet with knocking on the door and gossiping about the situation in the cubicle.

Excellent chips and macaroni haven't been in since before the refurb was waiting for coach so stopped to refuel. Chips are better than I remember and they were good back in the day will be back again for sure. Right next to bus coach station very convenient and great food and staff.

Expensive and the bacon was burnt black. My order was taken and I was told to sit down and given a table number. My food was brought out, I was then told to go pay for my food at the till. And had to re-enter the qué. My food was getting cold while I was waiting to pay as there was like 6 people in the qué (which I was in for the second time. Very strange. Won't be back

Very good breakfast, we ordered two York sandwiches and an omelet and they make it for you at the moment and they are delicious. In addition to the very good attention they give you.

Great breakfast, great staff. I left my coffee at the counter, went back 10 minutes later and the guy took it off me and poured me a fresh one without being prompted. It's the small things that make businesses stand out.

There wasn't a single thing on my plate that didn't absolutely smack. Felt like a place loved by locals with the food to match.

Great we place to pop in for a coffee or a meal

Went on a Saturday morning. Took 30 minutes to deliver 2 breakfasts. Place was busy but service was very slow. Order at the counter and they'll give you a spoon with your order number on it. Very close to bus station so worth having something to eat before your bus if you're going to be waiting a while

Eat there regularly always happy.just had another great meal. It's still the same! Another visit all as before.

We were passing through Inverness and were lucky enough to find this cafe/restaurant next to the bus station. And this place brought me so much good energy, that I took the time to leave a positive review. From the moment we arrived we were well received. Treated with respect and attention and I value this very much! We ordered two veggie burgers with chips and they were great. They have a wide variety on the menu and very affordable take away options. Apart from that, I loved the decor of the place, it's nostalgic. I highly recommend it!

I've always loved calling at Charlie's Cafe when I'm in Inverness. The food can always be relied on. My latest choice was chicken curry and chips. In the past I have tasted their fish supper. They also sell sandwiches and snacks to take out. Nice when you discover a place like this when you are over 400 miles from home. Handy when it is by the bus station 🚉 and only a short distance from the train station 🚉. A photo of that curry would have been well worth it.

Wow! What a fabulous cafe! We are staying in a nearby hotel who were asking almost £17 per person for breakfast. Walk 5 minutes to Charlie's - friendly welcome, excellent freshly cooked food and two breakfasts of exceptional standard including drinks cost a lot less than one breakfast at the hotel. Know where we're breakfasting tomorrow! Highly recommended and just by the bus station

Charlie's is probably an institution - it certainly feels like it. An old school café at Inverness bus station would seem ideal, and Charlie's looks to be open most of the times you might need a hot drink or snack. It's not fine dining or fancy, but it's a much needed oasis of the basics.

Accommodating to all my requests, friendly service (even with my English accent), kept me informed about the things I needed to know when I needed, great food freshly made on site I tried the macaroni pie, breakfast roll, and ham & cheese panini over 2 days. The breakfast roll was fantastic with a really soft bap, freshly cooked bacon, crispy hash brown and large juicy sausages. The macaroni pie was great with the sauce, melted cheese and pasta but the pastry could be improved. The panini was alright, there was not enough cheese nor was it the right kind like cheddar or mozzarella, just some American style burger cheese slices. Bread wasn’t the softest either but at least it was a generous portion. I can’t speak about other items as I’m just a first time visitor, I’ve not had the chance to try anything else but they may be better for all I know Unfortunately I currently live in Oxfordshire, England, so I cannot be a regular customer but if I lived nearby, I know I would be and would come back every time I return to Inverness. Would 100% hands down recommend even if a few items could do with a little tweaking!

The food is always fresh to order and even when it's busy, comes out in a timely manner. Always enjoy eating here for lunch.

Was In there 4th July 2022. Ordered fish chips and peas. Fish fell into pieces. Tasted horrible. Chips coloured black and Tasted horrible. There was no way I could eat all of this food. Flies everywhere in the cafe. Disgusting. How this place got good reviews is beyond me. I know now in future to stay away from this place.
