West End Hotel Restaurant in Edinburgh, City of

Property located about 1 and a half miles from Waverley Station. Hostel accommodation with dormitory style rooms and bunks. Staff are friendly and welcoming, I stayed for 2 nights and felt safe as a solo traveller. There is a bar and a kitchen downstairs. No lifts here and 3 floors so be prepared for stairs!! I was in room 8, which had 10 bunks, room not huge and was hot and stuffy, window only opened a few inches!! There was a fan, but stand was broken and No Where to plug it in!! Above each bed is a night light and phone sockets for charging. There are small security lockers in each room. CCTV in public areas. Toilet and Separate shower room a little cramped, my shower was tepid in the morning but not a bad thing. Could do with a bath mat outside as tiled floors where slippery when wet. Overall the place was very clean, saw staff cleaning all the time! 👍 Naomi on the bar very helpful and friendly! Would stay here again and recommend 👌 Thanks Naomi 😊

My husband and I visited this hotel yesterday 28th December and we were totally amazed by the friendly welcome that we received when we arrived. We were greeted by Charlie and introduced to Cameron our waiter, the food was delicious, piping hot and beautifully presented, even Debbie the chef came to say hello, We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone either living or visiting Edinburgh.

Auberge très chouette,chambres très propres. Localisation de l'auberge à 10 min à pied de la rue commerçante. Personnel très serviable et à l'écoute de la clientèle.

De vrijheid van komen en gaan. Je hebt een bed voor een lage prijs en dat is wat telt. Je hebt er max 5 kamergenoten bij en als dat dan nog meevalt dan is alles ok. Deze keer een drietal Franse dametjes en een Fransman. Leuk gezelschap en vooral stille nachten. Ik blijf er komen.

En realidad no nos quedamos aquí, pero un salto en la habitación de al lado para tomar una copa y fue genial. Jugaron algunas canciones mientras nos tomamos unas cervezas y vimos el final de el partido. Un ambiente relajado, las canciones y el personal amable. Probablemente venga aquí si me estaban volviendo a Edimburgo 👍

Me gusta mucho este hotel. Personal amable y trabajan van bajo presión. Normalmente ir tras el rugby. Fuimos para una bebida tranquila. Era tranquilo pero agradable para escapar de la locura del Festival de Edimburgo. De verdad tienes que probarlo tienen una comida que he probado en el pasado. Esto es un tesoro escondido.

Están pintando y decorando todo, así que se ve muy nuevo. Los lavabos son nuevos completamente, muy anchos, cómodos y limpios.La habitación de 6 camas era un poco estrecha/pequeña, si se juntaban más de tres personas en el dormitorio era difícil moverse.Se duerme muy bien, colchones comodísimos.Lo mejor es la disponibilidad de enchufes propios en cada cama, dos USB, luz y enchufe para cada persona. Genial!!!Ubicación muy buena, a tan solo 5/10 minutos caminando del corazón de la ciudad.

Fuimos aquí la última noche para cenar. Las señales de fuera y todo el baño dijo cena para 5 libras jueves y los viernes hasta las 8 de la tarde. Pero cuando nos preguntamos nos dijeron las señales estaban equivocados y no había tal oferta. Lástima, ya que era nuestra última noche estuvimos buscando un sitio barato y alegre. Dicho esto, el servicio fue rápido y la comida estaba muy buena. Sin duda comer aquí. Aún así era bastante barato, pero si no hay ofertas disponibles tales recomiendo cambiar todos los carteles del lugar o estacas otro podría parecer como un rouse para conseguir gente del interior. La música de la última noche también era buena, la chica fue un increíble cantante.

Necesitan una cerveza y hamburguesas antes de comenzar el rugby, dejó aquí. Iluminado y con tv bar gran deporte de techos altos, mostrando parecía como una base para despedidas de soltera y eventos. El servicio en el bar era bueno, el menú era principalmente hamburguesas.Llegaron bastante rápidamente y eran de buena calidad y a un precio muy razonable.Impresión positiva y vuelve a intentarlo.

Esperé durante casi 10 minutos para ser servido y no era una época. La mujer que me atendió era desinteresado, grosero y también mi factura incorrecta! ! ! Me sorprendió que por un hotel decente que el personal sería muy maleducado y mal presentado. También me sobre-oído un ruido miembro del personal femenino comentarios crudo sobre uno de sus colegas, que era claramente en los oídos a los clientes. shot Ambos, yo y varios otros clientes oír todo. Fue una experiencia terrible y me siento gestión y colegas deben estar conscientes de sus miembros muy irrespetuoso y maleducado del personal!

Hay habitaciones compartidas e individuales, algunas con baño privado. Temperatura del hiostel ideal, buen diseño y precios asequibles en el bar con su diseño excelente.

Fuimos una hamburguesa y patatas fritas en un vale pero que no debería haber afectado el servicio que recibimos. Llegamos en el tiempo designado y esperó en el bar vacío por unos minutos antes de un barman parecía como si él acababa de salir del gimnasio completo con una toalla alrededor de su cuello! Él elimina airily hacia una variedad de mesas vacías. Pedimos nuestras bebidas y elegimos nuestro come y llegaron en buen tiempo. Las hamburguesas estaban deliciosos y abundantes y este era una característica importante que redime. Sin embargo, nuestro disfrute se vio obstaculizada por dos niños traviesos que eran permitidos por sus padres, que estaban sentados en el extremo de la barra, para que ejecute antidisturbios, saltando en las sillas, los gritos que jugando con los sobrecitos de salsa. Puedo ser viejo pero no hubiera tolerado tal comportamiento perturbador de mis niños. El chico (unos 7) me siguió a la caballeros y otra vez nunca me han llevado a mi niño en edad a la que van Loo en un bar de su propia vida. Los niños logramos frotis de mantequilla sobre una de las sillas. Esto fue mencionado a una camarera que parecía ser, junto con el hecho de que el secador de mano en los caballeros estaba roto. Ella parecía completamente desinteresado. Tuve que esperar mientras ella causado por el hasta llegar mi factura bebidas - que logró conseguir mal! En general no nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos. Ni una vez el personal participar con nosotros o incluso en una sonrisa. Ninguna disculpa o se acercaba para cualquiera de nuestros problemas reportados. No era como si el lugar estaba lleno. Un campo de relaciones con el cliente se necesitaba!

4 of us went today with Groupon voucher. Staff were great, burgers, three cheese and one chilli, excellent. All with chips which were the best I've had in ages. A really good experience, don't miss it.

La verdad es que se esmeran, el lugar es lindo, la atencion esta ok, pero la comida fue lo mejor.

Como gente que ocasionalmente bebida en el hotel con amigos, que Verdaderamente podemos decir que mi esposa y yo hemos tenido la peor experiencia de nuestras vidas. Mi esposa y yo pedimos bistec baguettes, que aunque caro, estaba bien presentado con patatas y col y parecía muy apetecible. Sin embargo, el contenido de carne de citadas baguettes era extremadamente difícil y sin sabor siendo casi imposible comer en la baguette y extremadamente difícil cortar en el plato. Además de la col estaba aguados y añeja. En quejarse a la gerente, me dijo que iba a ver el chef, algo de tiempo después

nos hospedamos unos dias alli en nuetra extensa visita a UK y no nos decepciono. Bastane bien ubicado y el trato del personal bastante atento. Lo mas destacable fue la comida de su resaurante algo bastante raro en los hteles yaque no es le mejor lugar para comer.. Mis preferidas las hamburguesas de pollo y la carne asada

Como los críticos anteriores, tenía un vale Wowcher para el domingo cena con asado, sin embargo la comida fue excelente. le han dedicado un gran plato lleno de ternera, patatas asadas, puré de patatas, Yorkshire pudding, asado patacas chirivías y zanahorias, brécol y col roja...

Un excelente lugar para tomar una buena pinta de cerveza a un buen precio. Tienen variedad de cervezas escocesas, un buen ambiente y, en algunas noches, música en vivo. Muy recomendable.

We had wowcher Vouchers for a roast dinner meal. We had booked about 2 weeks ago. On arrival we were told there were only 3 portions of roast beef left, so one of us had to have chicken. The chicken was lovely, but the roast beef was very tough indeed. 2 of us had water, and 2 had drinks. We asked if we could have the sweet menu, but, told they don't do sweets??!! We ordered another round of drinks. There was no,ice in the water, and the best beer,,had stopped working so we couldn't have that either.

Without doubt this is the place to go to experience the Best Chicken Burgers in Edinburgh, if burgers are not your thing then the fish is very tasty too. That's all I am going to say because it should be enough for you to go along for an experience you will remember for all the right reasons. Almost forgot the staff are very friendly too.

I went here with my partner for a meal before we had a night out. We both had a burger and they were absolutely amazing. The staff were lovely. This is a great place to go if you want reasonably priced food and cheap drinks.

We ate in this restaurant 3/4 times while staying in the Hotel in April. We weren't expecting much for a hostel restaurant, especially with such a big group of us, but we had an amazing time here. The food was really tasty every time, and excellent value for money. The only thing we didn't like was the cooked breakfast, but eating in the evening was always fantastic.

We had a high Tea voucher which was an excellent deal.We had the choice of three mains Macaroni,fish or Gammon plus tea and a large fresh scone each with cream and jam.The hotel is lovely inside wooden carved handrail on the staircase.Nice furnishings.Staff friendly and we hope to visit again soon.

Stayed at this hotel and one night ate in the restaurant instead of heading out, and i was pleasantly surprised by how delicious this food was! Service was brilliant, staff were so friendly! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking a chilled out night with fine food

We visited here for lunch on New Years Eve and as recommended by other reviewers had the burgers. My partner had the chicken and I had the fish. The fish burger was actually 2 fillets of battered fish in a bun together with tartar sauce and salad leaves. Delicious!! The chicken burger was declared equally as good. There were slight variations from the menu in that the fish burger was served in a burger bun but advertised as being served in a toasted brioche. And it came with chips although it said French fries on the menu. However this didn't detract from the dish at all. Beware as the portions are large - we didn't need to eat again for the rest of the day. We ate in the bar area as the restaurant area was quite busy with a large group. We didn't have to wait too long for the food and the serving staff were all very pleasant. We would definitely return.

Had dinner here on a few occasions, fantastic quality and reasonably priced. The food is always served piping hot and delicious! Pop in give it a go I am sure you will agree.

Having been blown away by the chicken burger with cheese and bacon in August, I thought I would go back just to make sure standards have not slipped and boy they have got better. Just when I thought you could not bring anymore flavour to the table, the same chicken burger was just mouth wateringly better yesterday simply ooooozzzzziinnnggg with flavour, it is simply the best, I would also say your chips are pretty special too.

Regularly eat here and have to say the food and service is absolutely fantastic! Excellent value for money, portions are a great size always a pleasure to eat here!!

We have just had an excellent meal , the burger and chips were awesome , the service was first class and finally it was first class value for money! It was a voucher through KGB deals and unlike some other restaurants in town when you present a voucher they give you smaller portions, the West End Hotel portions were huge and burger and chips the best ever! Thank you!

Visited with friends and we all ordered a chicken burger with bacon and cheese and it has to be the best burger and fires I have had in Edinburgh. The food arrives hot and just ooozzzziing flavour miss this place at your pearl.I would also like to say a big thank you to the friendly staff we had a great couple of hours on Friday afternoon.

Visited in the evening with voucher for burgers and chips. Welcomed by a friendly young lady who we found out later was from New Zealand. Ordered chicken burgers which turned out to be two pieces of grilled chicken breast. The chips were good and chunky very tasty indeed an served in a small chip basket. The wine was well priced. The bar itself was quiet but well presented. Would definitely revisit

Eat lunch at this hotel/bistro recently.We had purchased a voucher for burgers and fries.The waitress was very friendly and welcomingWe ordered 1 chicken breast burger and 1 beef burger with cheese and bacon with fries. The burgers were Huge.. and tasted amazing ,fries were spot on . These were washed down by a nice reasonably priced bottle of Rose wine recommended by our waitress.Overall, service good,food excellent,nice venue brilliant value for money:)

Leuk en gemoderniseerd hotel, bij binnenkomst aan de bar de kamersleutels opgehaald. Kamer was schoon en netjes. Beneden in bar werd ook eten geserveerd en ontbijt in de ochtend. Grote tv schermen hingen er. Ik was er tijdens het wk voetbal Nederland tegen Costa Rica. Enige nadeel op die avond, er werd live muziek gespeeld wat noet toepasselijk was op het moment van het voetbal. (Kleinigheidje) eten was prima in orde, en het Schots ontbijt was voedzaam en vulde prima

I have eaten at the West End Hotel over half a dozen times now, with family , friends and with business contacts. The food is excellent with a good choice and very competitive prices. Its basically great food without the stupid Edinburgh price tag ! The lounge bar is really well decorated and the service from the staff is very friendly and welcoming.I would recommend the West End Hotel for good food in a great environment at a great price.

Probably the pick of the hostels in central Edinburgh, this one is definitely a notch above your standard backpackers place. However, I live nearby and so use it for the bar/restaurant. Everything on the menu is good so go with what you fancy! They have live music at the weekends and a quiz night on a Thursday. Well worth searching out if you're around the west end / Haymarket, especially if that end of town is busy due to a Murrayfield event.

We came upon this restaurant by chance walking from our hotel into the city. As it was close to our travelodge we went for our evening meal. The lounge bar was nicely decorated and the food was excellent. We were entertained by a young singer 'Callum' and it was just a shame that there were very few people there to hear him as he was very talented.

Bought 2 vouchers from Edinburgh's great deal for high tea as we were going out in Edinburgh that evening with friends. Before buying the vouchers I checked it could be used on a Saturday night and it said it was valid from Tuesday - Sunday.When I tried to book it, I was told I could it was not valid on Friday or Saturday but after pointing out the small print, they honoured my booking. I clearly stated it was for 4 people and gave them my phone number in case of any problems.When we arrived we were advised that they had only booked it for 2 people and didnt have enough cakes for us so would make up extra sandwiches and gave us one of the vouchers back to use at a later date.The restaurant was lovely decorated with clocks on the wall and relaxing.One positive thing was that my daughter doesnt drink tea so was given a hot chocolate.When the high tea arrived the quality of food was very poor and looked thrown together. it certainly didnt bear any resmblance to the pictures in the Edinburgh's Great Deal advert. The sandwiches ranged from prawns with tomatoes, brie with some unknown vile brown stuff and generally a lack of 'normal' sandwich fillers apart from a couple of tuna and 1 egg mayonaise. The scones were nice but were already pre buttered, jammed and creamed which some of the party didnt like the combination together so this could have been left to spread ourselves. One of the pastry cases of the lemon meringue was so hard, we were sawing at it and it couldnt be eaten.I know it was a cheap deal but it was awful - I certainly wont be back!
