West Café in Cambridge

Lost in the wilds of Cambridgeshire new science buildings is an excellent restaurant. We came for the second time with an inexpected group of 16 from the department of material sciences Tashi and her colleagues were run off their feet but never stopped smiling The food as requested arrived quickly. Hot asian and tasty at 50% of london prices. Good reasonable wine list. A find!

El café sabe a agua sucia. Comida suave y necesita 1 kg de sal adicional para enmascarar el sabor vil. Posiblemente el dueño de la cafetería sobornó a la universidad para conservar el contrato durante tanto tiempo. Ah y todo cuesta 2 x del valor real. Salva tus vidas: evita este montón de basura humeante que pasa por un restaurante. Ve al camión de burritos el martes, caravana de comida el miércoles, Cavendish el jueves.

West Cafe biedt als lunch een hele simpele warme dagmaaltijd voor een schappelijke prijs. De locatie is mooi, tussen universiteitsgebouwen aan de rand van de stad. Het was tussen de middag wel erg druk met studenten.

Uno de los aspectos del único era su desayuno West Café caliente (salchichas, huevos, frijoles, etc. . . ), que han decidido que el servicio. El único desayuno caliente ahora tienen es una patética excusa para un panecillo de desayuno (sólo viene con media salchicha o una sola pieza de tocino sin opción de añadir nada más). Yo no volveré.

But food barely eatable. It looks like a nice place, but the food is tasteless, dull, and dietary imbalanced.

This is a lovely café with decent food and good service. Lots of seating and very very clean. A good place to catch breakfast, snack or lunch between meetings.

Thank you for arranging a great business breakfast meeting for us. The staff were splendid very welcoming and accommodating. The views across the countryside with early spring sunshine were beautiful.

If you go on a quiet day, it's pleasant with big open space and a nice terrice. However, the queues get really long at busy and everything feels a bit disorganised- staff are however friendly. I find it a bit overpriced, especially if you have to take away as no space, but I guess it's a captive audience. Friendly buzzing vibe inside though.

You can't insult the word café by serving weak dishwater as coffee. Great space, the pastries for breakfast were good, shame about the drinks. Maybe if the staff had some barista training it would help.

Have been twice for morning coffee. Nice place, good terrace. Coffee absolutely the worst we have had anywhere in recent memory. Like dishwater.

This place suffers from a very large number of problems. - The staff, even though friendly, is working in a quite confused and inefficient way, resulting in long queues that advance very slowly. Cutlery had run out, too, and you had to eat with plastic knives and forks. - Furniture is generally not very functional, for example there is no place at the counter for putting down your tray, so you always have to carry it in your hands, which is quite annoying in a long and slow queue. - The counter is ill-designed and so high that the staff can barely hand out the dishes across it, with a high risk of spilling food when trying to put it on your tray. - Acoustic properties of the room are terrible. Even with low volume music and some people talking in a low voice, the room feels very noisy and uncomfortable. - Many food items are of unusually low quality. For example, i had a Thai soup with a flavour that seemed artificial and unpleasant, and chips that were bland and sticky. My colleagues noted that the coffee wasn't very good. I noticed only two pleasant aspects: The pastry is very good, and there are no other restaurants for at least a mile around, so at least this place provides a chance to get some hot food on the West Cambridge campus at all.
