A gem in Gower! A beautiful gastropub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, nestled in a fantastic location with access to scenic Gower walks. The combination of a cozy, inviting pub with friendly staff, stunning street food dishes and pub grub that we enjoyed with a refreshing drink whilst enjoying the view. A spot to remember!

Everything about this meal was great. I had 3 courses. The soup was amazing to start with everything about the Sunday roast was delicious. We ordered extra stuffing to go with our beef and the stuffing was incredible. Gravy was also scrumptious. Beef was really nicely cooked to medium rare and beautifully tender. Followed by some very generous desserts which overstuffed us nicely! We left feeling very full. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It was a perfect lunch despite the downpour happening outside.

I came here with my friends for lunch on a sunny afternoon this week. We were kindly greeted by the bar maid ‘Ava’ who looked after us well. We had the option of either the main menu or a lighter option of baguettes and jackets which were pointed out to us on their board. The food was absolutely superb, I had the scampi and chips which was a very good portion. We were then offered their homemade desserts board but unfortunately we were too full from our mains. We will definitely be coming back soon and making sure we save room for a dessert.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with our recent dining experience at The Welcome. We ordered jalapeño mac and cheese, truffle fries, and a nachos sharer. The mac and cheese was flavorless with no trace of jalapeño, and the nachos were a joke—just cheap tortilla chips with a bit of cheese, no toppings whatsoever. When we complained, the waitress admitted, “Oh yes, I did wonder why he didn’t add anything,” which begs the question—if she noticed, why didn’t she think to check it? Instead of fixing the dish, she later brought out small pots of clearly store-bought salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. To top it off, when we expressed our refusal to pay £12 for such poor quality, the response was a dismissive “yeah, okay” as she handed us £12 in cash, despite us paying by card. There was no apology or effort to make things right. This was a far cry from the experience we’ve come to expect from The Welcome, and I’m deeply disappointed. I expect better and urge you to address these issues immediately.

I never normally write a review, but I felt after the experience I had here that I must. Fantastic service by Grant and the clearly dedicated team that work with him. And compliments to the chef for such wonderful food. I ordered a steak that was cooked a perfect rare, and my partner had fish and chips, which was "amazing". Will definitely be returning. Wish they did mushy peas with the fish and chips, but no reason not to give 5 stars for such a fantastic lunch.

We visited the pub just for a drink and enjoyed good beer and cider. The interesting street food menu prompted us to stay and eat. The food was really delicious with a kind of tapas vibe but the portions are really good and the three dish deal at £22 would be ample for two. There is a good menu of more conventional pub restaurant food. Would call again if in the area.

This was a very disappointing experience. Firstly it was over priced. A pint of beer £4.70, Fish and chips £15.50 each. With starters a total of £58.85, would I expect better for this total - yes I most certainly would. Was it possible that on a Monday the full-time chef was off? I ask this as the food was awful. A first course of prawn and crab cocktail didn't seem to contain any or minimal Marie Rose Sauce and the prawns were utterly tasteless. The main course of fish and chips - the peas were rock hard [offered to replace them] and the batter was soggy - we left a large part of it as it was inedible. The beer was very good although at £4.70 a pint and with a poor meal it didn't go down too well. I should have challenged the manager Grant about this but it was a very public/local environment. I should have requested a refund as it was so poor and handing over £58.85 was galling.

Perhaps when paying the bill and asked whether everything was ok and l said “all right” l should have been more honest but as my wife and l were treating to youngish grand children l did not wish to spoil the experience for them. For the benefit particularly of the management we were terribly disappointed. We had returned followings a previous visit August 2022 when we had been more than satisfied with both the service and the food. However not to be on this visit: The positives of our visit having booked a table it had been reserved as requested was clean and awaiting our arrival. The staff serving at the bar responsible for taking the orders and serving the food were courteous and helpful. The starters 2 x battered cockles were excellent as was the Brie. However, the Hummus and Chille left a little to be desired. The drinks chosen - coke, wine and non alcoholic beer was most acceptable. But regretfully that where it stopped. We ordered the following main meals:- 1. Gammon and egg with hand cut chips etc: Observations the gammon although it could be said a good portion was a thick chunk, that was salty and fatty. The chips were dry and over cooked. 2. We ordered two pizzas one Paperoni with no cheese although we requested grated cheese separate, this never arrived and one Hawaiian the base of which was hard even difficult to cut and the Paperoni although we requested no cheese the chef could have used his imagination as to the presentation, it was presented with only a limited amount of meat. 3. The 4th main was a full rack of BBQ ribs, chips, onion rings etc - sorry the chips felt that they had been cooked not twice but 4 times and were hard and a dark brown. The meat was dry. And the BBQ sauce was limited and in my view over cooked. In all not a positive nor good experience. On reflection l am are sorry not to have brought the above to the management at the time but our reason for that we have already explain. Will we return may be not as this experience did not come cheap £104. Those responsible l trust take this review in the spirit it has been written and will be helpful and in future those visiting will not be as disappointed as we were.

We visited in a group of three adults . The pub itself and the Covid precautions were good ( lots of space , good ventilation, staff wearing masks, plenty of hand sanitiser, tables disinfected between guests). But the food was pretty poor. I had pan-fried salmon with fennel risotto. The salmon was a small, cheap rectangle from a supermarket pack drizzled with what looked like teriyaki sayce; the ‘risotto’ was a lump of lukewarm, claggy, tasteles, overcooked rice - I don’t often leave food or complain but this was vile and overpriced. The waiter was apologetic and did offer an alternative meal but as the other food was fairly unappetising ( my companion had the steak pie, which initially looked good - lots of veg etc - but which came with congealed ‘gravy’ like glue which she had to spread rather than pour, and the pie tasted of strong, cheap bbq sauce rather than steak and ale) I declined and took a free coffee instead. The fish and chips looked ok. The staff were lovely but they need a better chef.

The pub is tucked a few hundred yards off of the main road, and has parking facilities at the far side of the building. Inside, the pub was bustling with locals- always a good sign, and the pub was clean and tidy, with a traditional feel. There were two major brand ales on draught, plus a choice of lagers and a cider on tap. There was also a good selection of craft gins on the shelf. Meals are served daily from 12.00pm to 9.00pm, and there was a good selection of bar meals, tapas, pizzas, and pasta dishes available. We had the gammon, and the fish and chips. We live nearby and our family of four visited on Thursday 5th September. We ordered from the menu and paid at 7.10 p.m. At 8.26 p.m. our food started to arrive. that's a 1 hour and 16 minutes wait.

Had the most delicious meal last night in this lovely restaurant/pub. The village setting in Llanrhidian is in itself so attractive and the restaurant sits very snugly within it. We ordered the sea bass which was served on a bed of cockles, laverbread and scallops hash. It was quite exquisite. The service is exemplary and the overall ambience is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We loved it!

Superb food. Loads of pubs offer vegan options these days but most pubs don’t do vegan food to this high standard. I had a great burger and my wife had one of the best pizzas she’s ever had. Will go back tomorrow to try the vegan hoisin duck pancakes.

Dining area and the local bar in the one room though they do have a separate dining room somewhere else in the pub. Pet friendly and can be a little noisy at the bar but the food is sensational. My steak was cooked perfectly and my daughter loved her BBQ chicken. Will definitely be returning very soon x

For those who are hungry and those who are just in need of nibbles. This place has it all. The full rack of ribs is very special. The fully loaded burger with triple cooked chips extra special

Family of 5, Visited on a Thursday night in the summer holidays so expected it to be busy, it was busy but not rammed, found a table outside no problem. Lovely pub and a lovely location. We ordered at around 8.15 we were not advised that there was a wait on food! 9pm food had still not arrived, asked staff again if our food was on way was told 5-10 minutes and given garlic bread (which two of us couldn’t eat anyway as we’d ordered gluten free meals)

This lovely pub is our go to place for food on Gower. Since it was taken over just over a year ago by Mark and his team we have eaten here loads of times and each time the food has been of a very high standard. Menu changes with the seasons.

Lovely setting down a steep winding road. Ordered scampi and chips and fish and chips. Service was prompt and friendly. Presentation excellent. Only drawback was the very loud heavy rock music which was deafening and not conducive to eating a pleasant lunch.

My partner and his family visited in November. We were made to feel very welcome. Great ales on tap. We were lucky enough for them to let us eat a takeaway in there as the restaurant we planned to go to had double booked which was very kind of them. We had a great night and was so privileged to hear Hermione the bar manager sing in a cappella an Irish folk tune. Wow we couldn't hear a pin drop when she sang. It literally took my breath away. Definitely recommend this place and we will definitely revisit .

I have waited several weeks before writing this. I rarely post negative reviews, particularly not for small independent venues. But the price of 2 pieces of cheese on toast costing £10.95 is still irritating me. I didn’t look at the bill until sitting back down and my bank account flashed up the amount. I went back to the counter and asked if this was correct. Then to add insult to injury, we had nearly finished our coffees and my wife went to the counter to check where the cheese on toast was. No apology from the staff, and they said it was waiting in the kitchen as they couldn’t remember what table ordered it. You would expect sour dough bread or some, artisan crafted speciality bread and a fine local Welsh mature cheddar for this price. What we received was big standard supermarket sliced brown bread and a meagre layer of big standard supermarket cheese, that barely covered the cardboard toast. It was now barely tepid and ranks as the worst and most expensive cheese on toast we have ever had. Our cake was good but I overpriced, and the coffee was OK, but no where near as good as numerous other coffee shops in Swansea. Positives are: venue is nice and clean, staff friendly but somewhat dopey. It’s a shame they demolished my old school Ty-Coch. I am sure the catering ladies would have done a better job

As a paying visitor, me and my friends were disrespected and humiliated in front of other paying visitors. Dave Jones the captain came over to us and started questioning our clothes even though I have had no issues at every other golf club in Swansea. Also, there were people dressed in clothes a lot worse than ours but he did not bat an eye lid just because we were juniors. I was considering getting a membership but after the disrespect I received I will not be returning to this golf club.

Called in for a coffee, but had to have a cake too as they all looked fab… and it was.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal with my husband. The most delicious Welsh pork belly! The cheeseboard was also lovely. Would recommend visiting this lovely pub.
