Welcome Chinese Restaurant in Wakefield

Tonight we ordered from Welcome, we used to go all the time and moved out of the area. So when visiting family we thought to order! We were slightly disappointed the spring rolls were over done and a little burnt and the salt and pepper chips were very dry and tasted like they’d been cooked hours ago and kept warm… There was minimal veg and the onions were super dry! The soft noodles, curry and egg fried rice were nice though!

Take away. Arrived on time. Good price …. That’s where the positives end. Very bland, poor quality and the sweet n sour sauce was disgustingly synthetic. Never again. Hope I sleep tonight….

Ordered take away at 6.40 pm, Was advised would be delivered 45 minutes later. One hour and 10 minutes later I called to find out where my food was. Was then told food was on its way. 25 minutes later no food arrived, called to ask where it was ! The reply was we had no delivery drivers !! Avoid this establishment !!!!!

Ordered a takeaway. Arrived lukewarm, curry sauce was lacking taste, fried rice was thick and sticky so we only ate part of the order. Rang the restaurant to give feedback and they said they would collect and refund the uneaten food. Lady who called was rude and basically said no one else complained so must be OK. Will NOT be ordering from here again

We used to visit this restaurant every saturday until it went downhill, thought we would try it again and order a takeaway... really dissappointed with it especially being nearly 2 hours late. The salt and pepper spare ribs in batter were just balls of fat and gristle, the salt and pepper chicken was ok but bit dry and the egg foo yung was full of salt and everything tasted same. Ive always loved their fillet steak in satay sauce only to be told they had none!! Used to love this place, looks like it will be a while before we visit again...

We regularly visit this restaurant and have never given it a review and don’t know why really as it is always consistently a good meal nice warm plates good portion sizes too and the food tastes like traditional chinese we always have the parking hot and sour soup they always give you as many prawn crackers as you want the salt and pepper squid is lovely The decor is a little tired but you always get a lovely welcome it’s a quiet little restaurant that could do with a bit more business in this town as it’s surrounded by pizza which gets very boring

We come to this restaurant very regular and we are always happy wwhen we leave with what’s come out of the kitchen,Hot and sour soup very good,salt and pepper squid delicious,chat Sui pork in ouster sauce and broccoli very good and special satay was okay but there is a lack of peanut in the taste but it was still okay.and it’s very reasonably priced.well done

Been going here for years, encountered many owners, used to be consistent, Special Curry still great. Over last few months have ordered variations, Kung Po, Scheczwan and Satay, noticed all were same flavour, laced with Garlic & Chili (which I like but Wife doesn’t). Ordered Special Satay takeaway tonight, mentioned can they make sure that we can taste the Peanut flavour, explained past experience. Arrived to collect, overheard conversation between order taker & cook about Peanuts, cook talking with confusion, didn’t inspire confidence but I said nothing, picked up order and on getting it home, same as before, no trace of Satay taste just same generic Garlic/Chili. No peanut butter at home to fix it unfortunately. I like to support local businesses but I’ve given up with this place now. Anyone that likes Satay don’t take my word, by all means please try from here and make up your own minds.

The food is always good here. As its a restaurant the takeaway is really good and the prices are the same as most other takeaways so good value. There is a huge menu and vegetarian options. I had the shredded crispy chicken in spicy cantonese sauce which is my fave dish. My partner had the tofu in chilli and garlic sauce. They aldo added broccoli for no extra cost. The salt and pepper chips are the best I've had. Definitely the best chinese takeaway in the area!

Came for tea on a Sunday evening, placed order & had long wait but they were sincerely apologetic & gave us a free round of drinks & reduced the bill, they did say only one cook so maybe this is reason people having long waiting times for orders, as we arrived a large family group left about 10 minafter but there leftovers cutlery ect were still on table over 45 mind later. The food came & ca n honestly say it was really nice, we all orderd different & we all shared, ribs in ok was was awesome as was sweet/sour chicken balls, special curry was a bit bland but still nice, fillet beef in the black bean sauce wasn't very good, beef was fatty& can only describe as soggy but the sauce was delicious, place is bit shabby forks wee really small think a bit of an investment & another cook could really turn it around

A complete shambles. Very unorganised. Order for collection, waited 20 minutes to be told it was sent for delivery by mistake. An hour later and still not arrived. Staff unhelpful and time wasting. Rang multiple times and was told they would look into it and call back but they never did. Would expect some kind of appeasement but staff evidently aren’t bothered about disappointing customers. Would never order from here again.

Have used these for a number of years with a definite decline over recent months. The last few times of ordering, the food has been at least 45 mins late.. would much rather they say that they can’t make the time you specified as opposed to saying yes.. the food has also deteriorated, with tonight’s been inedible. Tried to phone, constantly, to no avail.. busy and then no one answering. Felt really sorry for the poor delivery lad. All in all very poor service from the owners and food awful.

I've just discovered this place after a few years of living close by. Hands down the nicest I've had around these parts. Hot and fresh and timely delivery.

We celebrated 3 Birthdays . 30 friends . Staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for us . Organised birthday cakes and balloons . They were very friendly.

Had lovely evening meal with work friends to celebrate 3 colleagues big birthdays. The service was excellent for such a large party. The food, venue and atmosphere did not disappoint. All staff were friendly,helpful and at tentative.

I went last night (15/9/17) with a group of friend to celebrate three special birthdays they went all out with decorations and even had a cake, the meal was fabulous everyone really enjoyed it we all took menus as we intent to use this restaurant again. The safe we all very friendly and accommodating. Thank you for a great night Welcome x

After our last poor visit here was willing to give them another try for my birthday and their fillet steak in satay sauce is to die for!!

My wife and I enjoyed a leisurely evening meal. The food was excellent and the service very friendly and helpful regarding the strength of the spices in the various dishes on the menu. We particularly enjoyed the squid.

We always go to this, best Chinese around. Good for takeaways and restaurant meal. really good food, polite staff.

He visitado aquí por más de 20 años y siempre había una comida fabulosa. Es nuestro favorito chino. Me gusta comer en el restaurante y también tomar lejos de aquí también. Nunca he tenido una mala experiencia, todo el personal era muy agradable y servicial y la comida es fantástica!

Comida, servicio rápido, bien presentado y con personal amable que me quedé muy sorprendido por los comentarios negativos que leí después de nuestra visita. Sin duda volveré

Este es nuestro favorito chino, siempre comida hermosa, se debe probar. El tiempo de entrega es un poco largo, así que básicamente la nuestra.

Been visiting Welcome for years. Used to be the place to go for a lively takeaway but losing its way. Disappointed in the over cooked salt n pepper chicken. Lack of meat on the ribs and taste to the usually very pleasant egg too yung.

Now bearing in mind me and my partner eat in or takeaway nearly every week from here..so we know the place well and they know us. I have the same meal week in week out... fillet steak in satay sauce. Had starters .. fine.. her meal came and sides came... completely forgot mine fgs!!! There was only us in!!! The girl apologised and offered to cook it but too late by then.. wouldnt mind but our bill when were in here is normally £50-£60 so was really disappointed and agrieved they didnt give us a drink on the house or anything... very very disappointing!!

Although the service was courteous, the food was awful. A hot and sour soup starter was like wallpaper paste and neither hot nor sour. Sent it back and was replaced by a spring roll that also had no taste (probably a frozen spring roll from the local supermarket). Given this experience I was relieved that I had ordered the most spicy dish (chicken schezuan). Other than a token sprinkling of chili bits this was also tasteless and gloopy. The rice was OK (I added Soy to make sure). We abandoned any desert, paid the bill (should have refused) and left - for the last time.We have eaten here many times in the past. I feel sorry for Chinese restaurants as a new owner/chef (apparently the case here) can ruin the reputation, and subsequent owners have to rebuild that slowly over time. Crossed off my list.

Ate at this restaurant as we have previously ordered take away and it used to be lovely. It now has new owners and the food came and looked ok but the meat had hot and cold spots. My daughters looked like the cheap chicken that u heat in the microwave. When I reported the issue they offered me £1 off! I left most of the meal - eventually was reduced by half but really I should have refused to pay. I was worried that I might get ill. In fact my daughter became ill later that night and vomitted through the night and into next day. I had awful stomach ache too and paid for the pleasure. My poor little girl! Please beware and just do not go there, it's not worth it! Find another Chinese there are plenty. Shame as this place had a very good name under previous ownership.

Without a doubt the best local Chinese in the area. The rest are poor though to be fair. Lovely service and fresh tasting ingredients

Lovely restaurant with a large menu selection, food tastes extremely fresh and is always cooked to perfection. There is a also a Early Bird menu served Mon-Thurs for 3 courses that is a bargain too, aways a pleasure to eat there.
