Welcome Break Birchanger Green M11 in East Hertfordshire

Baby changing rooms locked, nobody about with key. End up changing newborn on table! It would be better to use petrol station instead

We have just pulled into the services queued from the M11 having travelled 100 miles to find the caravan spaces full of cars. A man directing traffic said go the HGV car park it’s not my responsibility. It was exactly the same last year and we were told it was being addressed. On the way to The Lakes we used a Moto services and they had an attendant ensuring caravan and coach spaces were kept for those who needed them. Why is it Welcome Break don’t value caravanners in the same way? Avoid it like the plague they clearly are not interested in providing a break for caravanners.

Terrible place, nothing for my partner who is a Coeliac, for me, overpriced rubbish. UK service areas need to take lessons from the French, clean everywhere inc toilets, "fresh" cooked food all laid-out,(and served on proper plates, not paper) fresh salads, fresh made sandwiches & NOT the usual overpriced crap like the British service areas dole out. Yes they have pre-packed food but it's way, way better than the "junk food trash" we put up with. Try learning a few tips from them & you may get better reviews!! (some hope) (gbyorkie)

I think this place has fallen to the curse of people only reviewing when something bad happens :/ I come here a couple times a year and it's okay! Never a queue for the toilets, lots of food options and there are green areas to sit outside. I'm not saying it's the best place in the world but it's far better than it has been reviewed :)

Dreadful queues everywhere but service was okay once you got to the front. Please get rid of the piano... children and grown men just hitting the keys, then someone "shout-singing" to some very loud accompaniment. Your poor staff having to put up with this. At least I get to walk out and choose never to come back!

AVOID KFC BIRCHANGER. TERRIBLY TINY PORTIONS. A brown woman wearing speactacles (sorry, forgot to mark her name) at the counter at 6:05PM, Feb 3, 2024 served us an order of one large chicken popcorn in a box of this size. When we asked her if this was large and not small or regular, she responded "yes, this is the large one". Can somebody confirm? I doubt this is the size of one large chicken popcorn.

Absolutely the most appalling stop I ever made in 50 years of driving without a doubt. A nightmare just to get on the service station, no spaces so parked kerbside in the truck area and an even more frustrating time to get off the service area, in fact OVER 40 MINUTES! Just utter chaos. Service inside was just as slow. These stops are NOT meant to delay you but this one certainly did in a big way.

Went here on 22nd October mecandca friend and decided to order from kfc OK it's overpriced but arnt all these places Any how got food sat down to eat to be met with a real odd taste with the food but thought must be something kfc does to make things taste better but itv didn't Didn't Finnish the food as it really was that bad So off we pop thought nothing else of it till about 4 hours later Me personally bad stomach and toilet needed many times I'm just getting past it today Wednesday and never thought to ask my friend as I thought it was just me Well shock horror he calls me tonight to ask if i had been ill as he had been the same So for both of us not only will we never visit this services again We will never use KFC again wow that place has gone to the dogs Please people beware

Stopped off for a KFC, road surface is poor and signage is abysmal… the entry for cars and HGV is confusing and poorly lit, luckily I was in a car not an HGV so just drove round and round the HGV park till I found the exit. My KFC take away was as expected but the Zinger and chips were cold. The portion of chips was a measly 15 individual fries so not only cold but stingy with the least expensive item in the meal. At least bulk it out guys and make sure they are hot!! At least the 2 chicken pieces were good eating.

I regularly use KFC over there(business reasons i stay in that area around 1 month) and they have perfect service very friendly staff and their chickens are always fresh.Andy and Hannah always doing their best and smile on their face,these people are working very hard.

Find somewhere else to go! Worst signing ever with Birchangar Green and Bishops Stortford services interchangeable on signs. Queued to get in. Queued even longer to get out (around 40 minutes) absolute chaos in the car park. Services full of large groups- queue for burger king blocking door going in: Kentucky fried chicken in large swathes by ordering machines. Roof leaking into buckets carefully placed around seating area. There must have been something good about it but I can't bring it to mind!

Stopped here on a coach trip to London and the toilets and services areas were very clean. I had a Starbucks coffee and cinnamon twirl, and the self-order kiosks significantly reduced our waiting time. One of the better Welcome Breaks that we have been to.

This Welcome Break services has improved from when I saw photo's of it. They have KFC, Burger King, WHSmith, Waitrose, Noodle Bar and a arcade for over 18+. The toilet's very good, clean and working all fine. Although, there is graffiti in some of the stalls, which is quite disappointing. The WHSmith was the only shop open as well, as our trip was around 3-4 am in the morning.

Pretty clean inside, half decent units. The Subway has a very poor choice of sides. They didn’t have tuna today either. Only slightly more expensive than standard. The toilets were clean. Traffic coming out was a head ache

The service station has a few food options. KFC, Burger King. We decided to try Chopstix, for a change. What a mistake and complete waste of money. How is it even possible to make food so bland. We wouldn’t eat it again even if it was offered to us for free.

Having just driven from Euro tunnel after long drive in 18T horse box and traveling solo I pushed North to stop where I thought I’d get good safe parking for my lorry and for me to get a great Starbucks. Lunch / Coffee then fuel up. Absolutely disgusting lorry park Ruts deep in car park tarmac the smell of urine. Creepy men looking about and looking at & in lorries Would have pulled out and gone else where but needed to use the facilities and as a Starbucks lover needed a coffee fix They’d run out of blonde roast for my coffee then the panini which was supposed to be a Tuna Melt was a dry hardly filled horrible experience I also bought a cinnamon roll. Both dry stale and could eat neither. So disappointed with what used to be a great service station

I received in the post just this week a letter to say I had been sent last Decenber a parking fine(never received) allegedly parking on private land beyond permitted time. The only reason I was in this service area was to charge my electric car. So beware!

I have been to many KFC's but this one was the worst. We ordered our KFC and we were waiting 10 minutes and all of us were starving. It was an ordinary KFC like others. However, when we received our food, I saw I had coleslaw which I don't really like. My brother got 2 packs of fries. I do recommend this one but be aware you could get your order wrong.
