We visit Belton every year, and last year, discovered this wonderful place! Tucked away in the hamlet of Welby - off the beaten track [use a Sat Nav!] is the fabulous Crown and Anchor. This is a proper country pub with the addition of it's own Smokehouse - and what and amazing addition! We visited twice this week, it was so good... The menu is extensive and varied, with a combination of tradition British pub food and their smokehouse specialities. All extremely well served, presented and tasty, not to mention the generous portions. You do not want to miss the rack of ribs [full or half - although the half is what most places call a full rack ] - be prepared to be full! And the amazing Smoking Board, consisting of Ribs, Pulled Pork and Korean Chicken - all from the smokehouse, accompanied by their hand cut chips - hot and crispy and soft inside, coleslaw, extra BBQ sauce and dressed salad. Finger bowls and extra napkins are provided and needed! Also available are a fabulous range of very different burgers - including the triple - beef, pork and chicken - oh my! Starters are available in abundance, as are desserts - but we have never had room for either - but they look fab Beers and wine selections are plentiful and varied as well as reasonably priced. Service was attentive and excellent - couldn't fault it. As I said - you do not want to miss this place - just north of Grantham. Enjoy!!

This deli shop sells local farm produce and snacks to take away. Got our lunch and meal deal here with the hot item being a cheese and onion pasty. It was delicious and how a pasty should be. The filling is a lovely mix of mashed potato, onions and cheese. Even from the first bite, you can tell quality ingredients when into the pasty. The pastry was crisp and dry, the cheese and onion made their presence felt. The pasty has been properly filled out with mashed potato and doesn’t feel oily like cheaper pasties. A great lunch stop if you’re in Bourne.

Lovely garden and good choice of drinks. Is it shame that at 2.30 pm Saturday the kitchen was closed.

We ate at The Castle Inn with my daughter who is coeliac. We always check in advance that places understand that cross contamination is the danger - cooking in a kitchen where there has been gluten on a surface or in a shared container. For coeliacs for example, you cannot cook chips in fat that has had any glutened batter in it. You have to have fresh fat in a cleaned fryer. We have discovered that many high end restaurants like The Ivy don't manage to offer this so it was so heartening that The Castle was meticulous about her needs. When the menu didn't offer an option she could pick, they found something different, making her cheesy mashed potato from scratch. It was delicious and we are so grateful for their kindness. We shall definitely eat here again when we're in the area.
