Wei Dao in Croydon

After a day at the hospital, my son and my friend and i had thought we would like a chinese, so we opted to try Wei Dao, croydon after having a look at the menu , and was disgusted at the price of the rice at £10 !!! RICE A TENNER!! i was horrified, and then we found out that two dishes would cost £25 per head, and that woudl cost £75.oo without drinks, !! this is croydon , not lomdon, and its not even a top restauraunt! we walked out and i decided id never want to even try it as its noting but a huge rip off, and the restaurant was empty, anhow, im not st all surprised !! they can sitck their food and their prices in the cost of living crisis !!!

Poor food, poor value and ungenerous helpings. Too much salt and rubbery, cheap meat. Feels like corners are being cut. Not much ambition for quality.

We are regular customers at this Resturant and it is the second time we have been disappointed in the service and the food and may be the last time we go there due to it. We have spent about £140 and there were no complementary prawn crackers offered like they used to and the crispy aromatic duck was very dry and the sweet and sour chicken is not up to standard as it used to be. Refill on water for teas wasn’t offered and it seems like we’re gonna have to look for a new local Chinese restaurant.

Even though I was dining solo the staff were very friendly and welcoming Always attentive to my needs(refill,utensils,etc) Food was amazing Fresh tasting and very filling Would very recommend to others for a great lunch or evening dining experience

The staff made us feel very welcome and the food was fresh and served perfectly.. And was helpful on special requests restaurant clean and for once the customers in this restaurant came first not deliverys.. It was a pleasure

Had a great family meal tonight, food was excellent. Wonderful mixed starters and Kung po King prawns mains best I have tasted, very large crunchy and so tasty. Very good value for money with service charge of choice rather than automatically applied to bill.

Delicious food We had chicken curry egg fried rice chicken noodles shredded chicken chilli beef all really nice .The staff were very friendly too

I have eaten here many times in the past and it has always been fantastic. I ordered some Singapore noodles, salt and pepper prawns, spring rolls, mixed veg and satay sauce. The food was so fresh and tasty. Every, single item tasted lovely and looked even better; the deep fried prawns and spring rolls were wonderfully tasty, the Singapore noodles were delicious and seasoned to perfection and the best that I’ve had from anywhere. Every, single mouthful of it all was just a taste sensation. I don’t think this restaurant can produce mediocre food if they tried. They are able to execute each dish perfectly and the result is just high quality food. I would highly recommend trying anything from their menu to discover it all for yourself.

Order take out service via uber eats the food come cold and there was no cutlery that was ask for. The chicken was like rubber the noodles was very gresey. Most of the food went on the bin if I was eating in the restaurant the food would of been sent back. Unfortunately it was a waste of money

Unbelievable food and exceptional service, would recommend both in restaurant and deliveroo orders. Pal Choi and Edamame are particular highlights

It was our first time visiting Wei Dao, we’re newish to the area and had heard really good things about the food here. It’s not a huge restaurant but was busy with eating in and take away. We were not disappointed at all - The food was incredibly tasty, fresh and piping hot. The service was really quick and the staff are all super friendly! We will definitely be visiting again in the future!

Ordered a takeaway from Wei Dao for 4 Singapore Noodles and a Beef in BB Sauce. Great food - noodles had that oomph taste and was quite crisp. I would happily recommend Wei Dao to anyone looking for a tasty, less greasy, bang for the buck, healthy Chinese takeaway. The guys running the place was swell as well. My wife was allergic to prawns and the Singapore Noodles did have them. The note I placed with the online order to avoid adding them to one of the noodles was unfortunately overlooked, perhaps being a busy Saturday evening. I called them to complain once I reached home. The person who picked up was so graceful, that he kindly suggested to provide me with another one without prawns and even threw in a few Spring Rolls as a good will gesture. When I offered to return the original one, he insisted to keep it for the family - on the house.Was quite amazed with their response, and when I reached to collect the food, they apologized unreservedly. Visited here after it opened to the public post COVID in order to support the local business. I've ordered food from here before but for take out and it has always been great quality and non greasy. Great social distancing measures in place and food was great quality as usual. Would definitely eat in again, and it is always my go-to no1 for take out!

Had the Won Ton soup as a starter and the stock of the soup could have been better, it was a bit watery and not ally of flavour in-depth, The pasta Won Tons were really good though and all the extras Pak Choi etc was really good. Had the Singapore Vermicelli and it was probably the best i have ever had, nice lumps of Chicken and Prawns and it all tasted very fresh and a very big portion, could of been a little warmer as in temperature, but i would go there again just for that alone. Also had the Spicy salt and chilli Squid and the Hong Kong Pork and Kun-Po Prawns and they was all really good, i would go back again if I'm in the area. The Decor was and service was good, i di use the Gents toilet and it was a bit of a strange walk to get to and dated and cold. But apart from the it was good all in all mmmm Singapore Vermicelli Enjoy.

Went there yesterday for a lunch, we were served by amazing and super funny lady( I think her name was Patricia). We had amazing time and lovely food. Will be definitely back very soon xx

Come on a weekend with my wife for our anniversary ,had a lovely time in that place, food was so good that will definitely come back there again, happy staff and very friendly I would recommend this place

I should have gone there for lunch today but couldn’t get through the door as it has no access for wheelchairs. When I asked, the lady was very unhelpful and dismissive that I had the contempt to suggest that there should be a ramp. My friend collected her coat to leave whilst the lady let the door shut on me after saying that it wasn’t her problem. So they have lost out on 3 people have lunch today and 30 people who were meant to go in this Friday. Terrible service.

Came in for a quick meal good atmosphere and great food. All the servers were really friendly and polite definitely have to go again with friends.

Celebrate our daughter Birthday at Wei Dao ,we had very lovely evening with our family ,the food was so tasty very big portions ,the staff was very lovely and helpful ,we will definitely come Back there again!

We came here for evening meal, ordered veg spring rolls, ribs, chicken wings, Singapore rice and pork fried rice. Followed by cocktails. The service, food, decor is good. Generous portions couldn't finish off so took away in containers. Only let down is toilet area, very small needs updating. Would eat there again or order takeaway. Meals tasty.

I popped in here for lunch yesterday with my family and between us we ordered a fresh sea bass dish with rice, Singapore vermicelli noodles, chilli and garlic prawns, spring rolls, sautéed spinach, deep fried chilli beef, chicken wings and duck curry with rice. We also had a jasmine tea to share. The portions here are huge so be warned but the food is lovely. I did feel that the Singapore noodles weren’t as nice as they usually are, so not sure what has changed in the recipe. One member of our party has many food allergies and the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful.

The quantity of salt in the Singapore vermicelli is insane, uneatable.., cut down on the salt it’s not necessary. Thanks

We called to make an order over the phone. Was very disappointed to have been spoken to by the lady who took the order extremely rudely. She spoke in a derisive manner throughout the order and concluded by asking in condescending way ‘you don’t know where we are’ when we asked for the address. This is not the first occasion having been spoken to in this way by the person who has answered the phone. It’s a shame that the customer service lets down a restaurant that has otherwise nice food. Will not be ordering from there again.

I visited the restaurant for the first time on Thursday night and the staff made me feel so welcome. If anything could be better than the amazing food it would be the customer service. Staff are very funny and had me and my friends laughing for hours on end and made the visit outstanding. Honestly the boss should be proud of his staff, thank you!

As visitors to the area we were first time customers but the choice proved to be a good one. The place has a modern feel to it but inside there is plenty of room and the seating is comfortable.

We get take-aways from here regularly and the food is reall good. My lovely beautil wife says the soup is a bit thick for her tastes but that is only the negative. The food quality is great. Very much recommended!

This was a great spot for lunch and very decently priced. All our food was fresh and tasted divine. Will definelty visit again. The crispy Chilli Squid and beef were my fave :D Excited to go again and try their dim sum dishes!

Wei Dao, is a small restaurant that is popular with local office workers.

Myself and a friend tried this restaurant early on a Friday evening. The staff were very friendly, smiley and helpful. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Will definitely go back there again.

I went with family for lunch on a Sunday around midday and it was not very busy so service was quick. The lady who served us was lovely. The food comes when cooked so not everyone was served at the same time but it did not matter - the food was very tasty! We had the dumplings, springrolls and satay chickens as starters and loved it - especially the veggie dumplings. The kastu curry was nice and the chili beef very good, we will definitely come again. The prices are very correct for what you get.

Some of the dishes can be delicious, but the standard is variable. As we didn’t find the chicken satay to be as tasty as in other restaurants, we wouldn’t recommend this. On one occasion, the chicken and prawn laksa was delicious, despite a scarcity of prawn, (just three), but, unfortunately, on the next occasion, the seasoning didn’t hit the spot - it didn’t seem as fresh and the prawns, again, just three, were soft and a bit slimy in texture. The Thai style chicken and prawn curry is usually pretty good.

A great restaurant that serves lovely food at very reasonable prices. Food is served once it’s cooked, so I did have to wait for my food longer than my mum and brother but it was not a real problem.

I have never eaten in here, but always order for a Chinese takeaway. The dumplings are delicious, the Thai Chicken Curry comes with a rice within the price which I think is great value and the best Thai curry in Croydon. It is slightly more expensive than other chinese take aways, but the food is worth it.

Food was nice and service was great however there wasn't a vast amount of choice. I ended up having starters as a main meal and they tasted great.

Food: Together with my partner we had - Singapore Vermicelli, Spicy Szechuan Chicken, Egg Fried Rice , Kimchi, Char Siu Buns and Tea. The food was lovely, free tea refills and all for about £26.

I ordered a take away yesterday online. They use a company called Big Foodie to manage their takeaways. Placed the order, got the confirmation from Big Foodie. Then after sometime, they send an email saying I can't order a take away for delivery as the restaurant doesnt have a driver to deliver. Surely they must have known that beforehand. So my order is cancelled. I then re-order but this time, for collection. Again I get confirmation for my order and I waited and then got an email saying that my order has been cancelled as the restaurant has decided to close early. This is a shambles and not a good way to run a restaurant, Terrible service and will not be using them again!!!

I visited at lunch time recently with a friend. We had been there many times, including to its predecessor.

I didn't think much of this place but my mum and I needed some food quite quickly.

Not overly impressed. I came in based on the 5/4 * reviews but my experience was much different. There was only one occupied table when I went in and they were leaving (just after 8pm), I was immediately seated and given the menu - Which had noodles, some kind of green salad and a sticky sauce dried onto it for good measure. The menu is the normal Chinese menu - nothing special just the average stuff you can get from any Chinese wholesaler nearby. Ordered the King prawns in chilli and garlic - Got battered king prawns (obviously from frozen) on a bed of partially fried onion with some we chilli sliced into it and a side dish of watery sweet chilli sauce. Bit of a stretch from the menu description. Mains I had Beef in chilli and black bean sauce - Again average and I'm not sure where the chilli was especially as it is advertised as hot? All the time I was being watched by the waitress who seemed in a hurry to clear plates, maybe they wanted to close early or she wanted to join the other employee who spent most of his time out the front of the restaurant on his phone smoking. All in all pretty unispiring.

We ordered a take away that arrived ONE HOUR early, but tasted like it had been cooked sometime ago. 3 of our dishes were very common ones and ok but no better. One, the chicken satay was over cooked, and the sauce was thin and runny, and a mean portion. The crispy beef wasn’t .

We decided to order sushi as a starter and 3 different specials as a main. The sushi was very tasty, but the specials are extremely good. I got the hong kong pork belly, of which the meat was very good and had a divine sauce. I also got a taste of the beef teppanyaki grandmas scampis, both of which are tasty, but could not top the pork belly. I would recomend this to anyone who loves not just chinese, but asian food in general.

Had a takeaway, it was very good quality food, the vegetables were excellent. Way too much salt rather spoiled it though. One of us had Szechuan chicken and this had as many lumps of chilli as it had of chicken, filled a tapas bowl with them. Might use them to keep the badgers off my food waste bin so not all is lost.

We popped into Wei Dao for a late lunch and we were not dissappointed. We had dumplings for starter and they were very tasty and fresh. For main, we had Stir Fried Beef in Oyster sauce - very nice too. I was happy they did not over charge for rice - it was only £2. I have recently seen restaurants start charging £3.50 and upwards just for a bowl of rice which is a rip off. Service was excellent here - both waitress were friendly and polite. Only dissappointment was the high price for their vegetarian dishes...some only £1 less than the meat dishes! But I would definitely return.

Have walked past this restaurant on my occasions and decided to give it a try.

Really good local Chinese, great service, clean, airy modern restaurant, excellent choice menu, aromatic duck pancakes delicious, sweet and sour chicken well done, noodles good, prawns good, will definitely be back!

This place offers a variety of dishes - Chinese as in Hong Hong, Singapore and Malaysia. The taste is good just the portion is a bit small.

Noticed this new restaurant and decided to give it a try. A departure from my usual haunt: Tai Tung at Wing Yip.

I keep coming back here for my takeaway Chinese food, as they see my phone number come up the usually greet me with "salt and pepper ribs and what else?"

Had a craving and was staying nearby so found the restaurant easily enough - we were the only ones there. Staff are very friendly. The food though was excellent. Lots of choice and very good value. Was actually surprised (in a good way!)

Living in South Croydon there are not many Chinese restaurants in the area. This one is well worth a visit. Very tasty. Good value for money. Great service from very attentive staff. We will be back.

A lunchtime treat for us as we're usually at work in London. Warmly welcomed, great lunchtime special or a la carte menu. Food cooked quickly, piping hot and flavoursome . Would definitely recommend.

Wei Dao is a great restaurant for a quick lunchtime bite to eat.

There are a lot of places to eat at our end of Croydon ( the South )....We have eaten in many and what's left just don't appeal. I was a bit put off from a visit to Wei Dao just because from the outside it always looked more like a fast lunch canteen place more than a restaurant. However, the warm welcome, simple but effective decor, excellent menu and simple, well priced wine list soon helped us to feel at home.

You have to visit if you are in Croydon and you want to have excellent food. The service was faultless the team and so very attentive. The food was outstanding well presented, hot and just delicious. Please make ''tis your stop for a Chinese meal thank you team for making our visit so special.

Tasty Authentic Chinese food. Really refreshing. Service was good too. Went on Monday evening with my vegetarian friend and she loved it too. Will be back

The restaurant is well decorated with space between tables. We received very good service although our Mains were not bought out together but I think that's because the second main was a speciality dish? The dish itself, a chilli chicken had very small bones through the middle so eating it, whilst it was tasty, took time and more effort than the amount of meat on them. The rice was well cooked. The katsu curry was plentiful and sauce tasted great. None of the food was greasy and all looked fresh. We did have starters. Shredded chicken which had great flavour and nice portion. The dumplings were lovely too. We would return I in the area, just ensuring we don't order meat with bones in (personal choice). The toilets were clean and tidy.

I visited Wei Dao one evening for dinner, I hadn't heard anything about it before that but my friend and I fancied Asian food and he had seen Wei Dao, even though he hadn't tried it. I love Thai food so I went with the Thai Curry - it was really tasty. The starters didn't feel like anything special, I would be surprised if everything was made from scratch, but I really enjoyed my dinner. The staff were great, really friendly and fun. There was no pressure on us to eat and run and we had a lovely relaxed evening. Reasonably priced.

We were lured by seeing this place under the Thai header on TA, but when we got there it was apparent that it was mainly Chinese food with the odd thai and japanese dish of offer too. Everything we had was a delight - duck pancakes/ stir fried pork/ katsu curry etc. Really great meal. The surroundings are modern/ smart rather than traditional but no complaints there. Would definitely go back if we're in the area again.

We visited Wei dao on Saturday evening and had a great selection of their starters to share. Crispy duck pancakes and mixed dumplings were a highlight. The staff were very friendly and we would recommend the restaurant for a casual and delicious evening out.

Lovely food nice and professional staff. We ordered sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice and beef curry with rice and dim sums with pork to start with.

We have been to WEI DAO restaurant on 31st July 2017 in Croydon, first thing which is important - very easy access from the street, central spot and very convenient to those using the wheelchair and buggies, thus making it friendly to young families with kids and disabled people.

Having decided to eat Chinese out with the family, we decided to give this place a try as we have been passed a few times and looked fairly busy.

Decent local Chinese/Asian restaurant with an expansive menu covering a wide range of Asian foods. I had the combination soup which was quite filling and my friend enjoyed the Spicy Shrimp Noodles.

I was on a nights business travel and just past this place and decided to try it. The menu was full with loads of choices across the meats and veggie stuff. The food was very tasty and enjoyable. The restaurant itself lacked something, felt a little clinical for my liking, but I'm sure if it was busier as it was a Monday night, it would have a different feel.

Great meal, we ordered a variety of items and all were lovely. Generous portions. We will definitely be back again soon. Thank you.

We've eaten in many a Chinese and Thai restaurants in the past and quite honestly this has to be the best!

The pull of Box Park means that our trips to eat out in Croydon have been limited in recent months. However, on a recommendation we tried this new(ish) restaurant that is on the same site that Miso used to inhabit.

Super friendly staff, nice ceramic plates and cups for Chinese tea. All bodes well. Food tasty and well cooked - you can hear the chef cooking away on the kitchen. Generous portions. We had dim sum and steamed buns- good quality. Steamed sea bass - whole fish and subtly seasoned, and a couple of other dishes with special fried rice - generous with ingredients. All in all, a good meal and enjoyed being in the restaurant. Had a nice feel. Nothing out of this world but good competent Chinese.

I have visited Wei Dao for lunch so many times now, that it's become almost routine!

I always wanted to try this "new" restaurant in Croydon since its opening and I grabbed the 1st opportunity.

Stopped here with a group of friends for dinner. The staff were friendly however the food was mediocre and nothing fancy. We ordered a mixture of dishes and some were better than others. Will try the restaurant again.

Staff are wonderfully polite and welcoming. Generous portions of what is beautifully prepared food from a diverse menu. A wonderful dining experience at a reasonable price

What a beautiful, peaceful place. The staff are welcoming and the food was amazing and great value. Truly a hidden gem in Croydon. Will definitely be back again.

Family for of us went to WEI DAO on the Saturday evening, the chef's special was really really nice, service was attentive, environment is beautiful, the place is very clean, all in all recommended place, especially you want Chinese in central croydon. Will be back on New Year's Eve, see you soon guys
