Blossom House in Croydon

We ordered at 6:30pm, by 8:30 we was ringing as over an hour past the latest delivery time. Logged with just eat - they said contact restaurant …. Restaurant phone went straight to voicemail kept trying till 10pm and gave up as couldn’t get through and got food from somewhere else. 11.05pm comes and they turn up, I’ve asked delivery man to talk to manager via mobile as you can’t get through and I’m disgusted by the service, also I don’t want the food now. The lady on the phone doesn’t know I’m on speaker and goes why does she have an problem (bare in mind it’s 4.5 hours late) I speak to the manager who explains it’s been busy, we took the phone off the line so no calls could come in. I explained how that is ridiculous to still deliver food 4.5 hours later he should have called current customers explained and cancelled orders. He said okay don’t take the food we will take it back and we will refund you. They still took the money and said it was delivered at 11.05pm complete scam they know what they are doing.

If I could give 0 I would. NEVER ORDERING AGAIN. I ordered for collection, being told a time on THEIR OWN website to turn up, i turned up on time expecting my order. Waited 15 minutes, was told it would be a further 10 minutes. 10 minutes past, still no food. 45 minutes from when I was told to pick up they then said they can’t find my order. An hour and 20 minutes I sat in the restaurant, waiting for my order to be made. No gesture of good will for some of the food to be on the house or refunded back to me seeing as I waiting a total of 3 hours since ordering. NOTHING! Never ordering from here again, manager was rude and greedy for customers money.

Ordered a takeaway and been waiting 3 and a half hours and still no sign of food. They won’t answer the phone so really don’t deserve any customers with this ridiculous service. The food has been “on the way” for 2 hours so it’s going to be a disaster whatever happens. What a waste of £50

Whilst the food is good the service is appalling and very slow. Waited an hour and a half for a main course. Too busy concentrating on the takeaways and not the customers who took the trouble to book a table. The order when it came up was wrong. However we weren’t the only ones. Must be able to strike a balance.

Ordered through deliveroo and been waiting over 3 hours and can’t get through to the restaurant. No food is worth this wait. Absolutely disgusting

Ordered at 6pm through the deliveroo app . Supposed to arrive at 7:30 . No show till at 8pm it had said it’s been delivered. Called was able to get through to them they said it should be a further 35mins as they are busy . Now 10pm and nothing . Calls are not going through . Awful . Avoid

Ordered, waited 3 hours from when ordered, Never came, ordered through just eat the restaurant didn’t answer the phone - it went from ringing to disconnected. Beyond disgusting. Honestly awful wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there. Still waiting for refund.

This is our go to place for a Chinese takeaway. The food is lovelyl. However, for the second year in a row we've ordered via their app on the afternoon of New year's eve for delivery in the evening and it's failed to turn up. This means driving there to find out it's been missed and not even cooked. A one off then maybe but not two years in a row. It's not on and unfortunately we cannot trust them to provide for our new year celebration

Ordered via Deliveroo…. Over two hours later, no food and looks like they’ve taken the phone off the hook - literally tried them 20 times but no response… WONDERFUL SERVICE!!

FOOD NOT DELIVERED. Paid £30 for food that did not arrive. When I called they told me they don’t know and the driver lied and said he delivered food when he did not!! When u speak to them they hang up the phone on you and just say they want u to come into the shop and see them and hang up and do not answer!!! Don’t order here because they steal ur food!!

Sweet & sour sauce was put in the bag on its side (literally stacked in so hadn’t fallen) which meant it exploded in the bag & we lost half of it. Overall, food was good & delivery was within the expected timeframe.

My mother is 81 and incredibly hard to please. This restaurant has never gotten a single complaint, and I'm harassed to order again. I'll be honest and admit we're both housebound, and I've never been to the place. My 'atmosphere' rating might be off, I can't say... but the people are amazing and try very hard to give you what you ask for. This is currently my favorite place to order from.

Very confusing menu as menu online is different to shop menu. Lovely staff but new so a few items on order were misunderstood. Was hoping to eat in but zilch atmosphere so decided on takeaway. Overcharged for my order due to misunderstanding Food was insipid and not usual standard.

Best Chinese in the whole of Croydon!

Beautiful place for special events. My fiancée proposed to me this Thursday night at Blossom House. This has been our place to meet up for over 10 years, ever since me and my fiancée have gotten together. On Thursday, my fiancée proposed to me at this restaurant — he said that the restaurant staff were willing to cooperate ( the manager and two girls ). The atmosphere was very warm and romantic. A perfect spot for a date. My fiancée and I had a bit of a drink too and when we left the restaurant, it was quite late so we couldn’t drive back home. The restaurant then called a taxi for us to send us back. The food was delicious as always. Blossom House will always be my favourite restaurant.

Yesterday was our 38th wedding anniversary. We moved into the area in 1986 and our first take out meal was from Blossom House and it was followed by many meals at the restaurant. At that time, Blossom House was the best Chinese restaurant for many miles around. We lived a few hundred yards away for 15 years, when we moved nearer to our village centre. We stopped using them for a few years until a couple of months ago. I have recently had surgery and was stuck at home for our anniversary. We decided to make the best of it by having a take out. The food arrived a few minutes early and was as hot as could be. We ordered crispy squid, lemon chicken, crispy shredded beef and special fried rice. We did heat up the squid only to crisp it, 5 minutes at 150c does the trick, while we dished up. The beef is the best outside Chinatown, in our opinion, the lemon chicken is light and perfectly fresh and the rice was full of mixed meats. It was such an excellent meal, we felt the need to ring the restaurant to thank them. The manager was delighted to have the positive feedback and explained that there was new ownership and that they appreciated our call. This isn't just take out, it is proper restaurant fare, best enjoyed in house, but travels well. It is a few quid above your standard take out but so worth the extra money. Restaurants don't always last 40 years in one spot but here they are, still serving the best Chinese food for miles around.

Brilliant restaurant. First time coming here and we were impressed! Food was high quality and delicious. Went here at around 6:30pm for my son’s birthday. We had 5 people and the atmosphere was fantastic. They played us music and the waitresses/waiters were very friendly and attentive. They even gave our son a gift for his birthday which made him even happier! Plus, some fortune cookies for everyone at the end of our meal which everyone really enjoyed. My husband is actually allergic to nuts and the manager made sure that everything he ate was free from nuts. Very good customer service and I will be coming back again!

Delicious food. Tried their new dish (Korean chicken wings) and once again, did not disappoint :). Loved the chicken and sweet corn soup + Egg fried rice. Service also great. Saw two young girls working there and they were really friendly.Atmousphere makes me feel very relaxed too.

Not great food, taste wasn’t great, very greasy and soggy. Spent over £60 and was £50 short and owner quibbled over it. Ended up letting us off after we said we’d do get the missing amount but j mean come on. £60 for a Chinese and you quibble over 50p!

Very late, app had said delivered had to call restaurant twice to check on status, the restaurant is 10 minutes away from our location which mean our food was cold when it arrived. Good flavour but poor poor service

Food was ok but got disappointed with charges, I had groupon voucher and they tried to charge for my food on top of voucher I already payed for, I had 4 coke zeros and one beer, the bill came up to £75 when I’ve said i gave the code of the voucher. After they brought me the new bill which was £21.80, £15 for drinks a £6.80 for service charge for the drinks I ordered.if i decide to have food only there wouldn’t be any charge as food was already paid for with groupon vouchers , at the end of the day the service charge was half of the amount of the drinks i paid for, absolute rip off

Went here in the early afternoon, found the food to be very flavoursome . I gave only 3 stars for atmosphere as it looked closed from the outside and dim inside.

usually get fabulous food from you, sadly today not the case. chicken satay very tough, crispy pork not crispy 😞 pak choi was nice, but doesn't make up for a whole meal have had to do some beans on toast.

Lovely atmosphere, especially after they re-decorated the restaurant! Very warm atmosphere. Recommend their signature crispy pork belly, smoked corn chicken, char siu. Delicious.

The delivery was late and the food was not hot so we had to reheat it. It tasted very nice, but it was annoying that it took so long and was almost cold.

They say they have a trained Michelin chef ! From my years of experience the Takeaway I experienced last night was tasteless the Chicken in Black Bean sauce had little black bean flavor and the Pork Szechuan dish was salty/thickly cut and contained fat at the meat edge it also was not tasty. I will not be ordering again. William.

Reviewers claiming this is a good Chinese or the best in Croydon have obviously never eaten authentic Chinese food, or even good "western" chinese food. No chopsticks or bowls to eat from just small plates & fork/spoon was the first warning sign. Just 2 of us eating in. Empty otherwise with a few take away orders going out. Family meal for 4 of us. We had 2 set meals, the food was all delicious, apart from the chicken in satay sauce, but as i say, the rest was really nice. It was a Tuesday night so unsurprisingly quiet, but the server was friendly and attentive

Ordered at 18:30 and it turned up at 20:20 stone cold and horrible. The ribs were so black it looked like charcoal . Disgusting food

Ordered an evening delivery through Uber Eats for a family meal. Delivery estimate was 30-50 minutes but it took 1.5 hours, which ruined our plans for the evening. Food was fairly good but some of it was quite greasy. Disappointing that there were no little extras you normally get from a Chinese delivery like prawn crackers or fortune cookies, especially when we spent over £70 and it was so late

Not only did the owners ring me and arrange to hand deliver our order, they did so well out of hour. Absolutely brilliant food, and even better customer service. Waited way over 2hrs for our delivery, eventually food arrived which was the wrong order. I called the restaurant and was informed they only have one driver. I think Just Eat needs to check whether restaurants can meet the demands for delivery service.

Delivery was shocking. I gave 2.5 hours notice of the requested delivery time, and they still managed to deliver over an hour late. Really, really poor service. Have used a fair bit in the past, but ths is becoming common place so won't use again.

Tried a takeaway from them and it was excellent, good taste, good portion size, excellent content and fair prices, to be recommended.

Delivery was the only good thing , wrong item sent when I called the restaurant they agreed it was wrong , offered credit but I asked for a refund which was eventually agreed but a week later still no communication or refund

First time trying this place and found the food to be delicious. Had Chicken Chow Mein, Duck with Mushrooms and King Prawn Balls in Batter with Sweet & Sour Sauce. Batter was so fresh and slightly crunchy. The sauce with the duck dish was so delicious. Chow Mein also very nice indeed. Very fast delivery too and food was piping hot when it arrived. Very impressed

Just had the worst vile pork chow main was meant to be large but was small rip off chicken balls rock solid batter all you could taste was grease sweet and sour sauce was just vinegar absolutely disgusting won’t be returning I will stick to my usual shop
