This place has given up completely on it’s lunchtime trade which used to be quite busy. Can’t see it lasting much longer

La comida era decente. El peor servicio al cliente que he tenido. El lugar solicitó el cambio exacto, lo cual es cierto que no tuve, ya que había estado trabajando todo el día hasta este momento y solo tenía notas y no pude cambiarlas. Fue recibido en la puerta por lo que parecía una niña de doce años. Me disculpé por solo tener notas y ella tuvo el descaro de preguntarme si quería mi cambio de vuelta. Me mantuve educado y dije que sí. Cuando me iba, pude escuchar a esta chica burlándose de mí en voz alta frente a quien supongo que era el gerente. La calidad de la comida definitivamente no pesa más que el pésimo servicio. 0/10 No lo recomendaría

Esto ya no es el Wee Chippy (que era terrible), sino que ahora es una tienda de chips / comida china para llevar bajo nuevos propietarios. Pensé en probarlo, ya que es muy conveniente para el trabajo y ha mejorado mucho. Tuve salchichas y patatas fritas, ambos fueron excelentes. Todavía no he probado el menú chino, pero pasé una tarde la semana pasada y los olores eran tentadores. Vale la pena darle otra oportunidad.

La peor comida de la tienda de chips que he tenido,  Una bolsa grande de papas fritas, un recipiente con salsa de carne y una pequeña cantidad de queso rallado costaron de 6 a 60, las papas estaban insípidas y casi cocidas hasta el punto de casi quemarse. La salsa era como el agua marrón llena de sal. Sinceramente, no pierdas el tiempo con esta horrible tienda de chips, realmente es terrible.

Ordered 1 potion of chips and sausage and chips .6.60..??? .not worth 60p..had to wait for chips and sausage ....chips were like frozen chips reheated ..will not be going again..not friendly we felt like we were not welcome as there was nothing ready ..think the owners need to sell up and let some one that wants to run a chippy do it

I have been coming here since I moved to Kendal in 2000. It is a shame to see that people think badly of the place because when I go there I do not have any problems. I highly recommend the brunch bar in the mornings to 1pm i think where they serve hot buns, sandwiches(bacon, sausages, eggs for example) and more, then past that time the chippy takes over and serves fish and chips and more which I also highly recommend. This place is one of the best in Kendal. Very unique and different from other places.

Here I thought I would try for a change but I would never go again as the staff are not friendly and the food is over priced and food is not that good

This place does plain fish and chips, nothing fancy. But they just happen to be the best in Cumbria and North Lancashire, and i've tried most of the others. They only cook your food when yo go in - nothing is left cooked waiting to be sold, so expect a 10 minute wait. The cod is always very fresh and each piece is cooked very carefully - watch how they check EACH FISH with a thermometer gauge. The chips are also perfect; what else needs to be said? They also do a wide range of other things to be expected; chip butties, sausages etc. and they have a very popular sandwich bar, but I've only ever tried the Fish and chips. I have found perfection - why experiment?

New favourite chippy! Really friendly and great food every time! Super fresh and yummy! I would really recommend!! :)

Exceptionally quick service , good fast food. Not just simply an ideal spot for a tradesman etc to be able to grab a meal to eat in a van ( as I used to! but nice food for everyone Very convenient location - turning just off to the right ( opposite Leisure Centre) if you are heading on a A65 toward M6 i.e back on road to work and fancy some quick hot food.

I live local and have tried here maybe a dozen times now, each time hoping that the sloppy service the previous visit was a one off.... I set my watch last time I was in he and it took 19 minutes to get a portion of fish and chips. The chips were ok but is it necessary to cook them a portion at a time, surely a chippy should not be surprised that people are wanting fish and chips at lunchtime.... Service was both slow and on the surly side.......it took several minutes for someone to acknowledge me and ask what I would like, despite shouting out for a fish on my way in. Save yourself some time and find another chippy....

Myself and my uncle decided to stop here the other day, ordering large portions of fish and chips a long with peas. Fish and chips were lovely, survive was fast and food was fairly cheap. One thing I will say was the peas were tasteless, like water

Enjoyed the chips but our lttile boy's sausages were very dry and not at all pleasant to eat. I wondered whether they had been sitting in thr production bin keeing warm for too long. Service was swift but not particularly friendly!

Been here 3 times now the first time was a long drawn out affair, its one of these places that never has anything ready ordered fish and chips had to wait for the fish to be cooked from scratch and the same with the chips. 2nd visit i ordered the same and asked for a fish the second i walked in thinking it would speed it up a bit, 3 people infront of me had done the same after a wait that seemed like an eternity the person at the front of the que finally got his fish and chips, when the person after him got to the counter wanting fish and chips another fish had to be cooked from scratch. I thought maybe he had not ordered it on arriving. So we waited and waited for this one to cook and the person was served. There was now only 1 person infront of me and it was his turn next. He ordered fish and chips and sausage and chips i was stood there feeling faint with my fingers crossed but to no avail another fish had to be cooked and waited on by all in the shop, at this point i reminded the guy behind the counter i was also wanting fish, this had no effect on him what so ever and he just cooked the person before me his and eventually he was done. Now im at the counter ready to recieve the fish and chips i had ordered on entry at least 30minutes earlier but you guessed it he didnt have a fish ready so endured another wait before finally getting some food.The food was not awful id give it 6.5 out of 10 but coupled with the owners lack of inteligence and the high end price its a 3 out of 10 at best.Would avoid like the plague unless you are trying to socialise more as you could really get to know someone waiting in that place.

Left waiting for 5mins to order. When I enquired about half portions for OAP was rudely told they don't do that. When i placed my order and asked for fish to be cut in half the owner in a very rude way replied "whatever". Food was disgusting and inedible and very expensive. Waited over 30mins for the to make 2 fish and chips. Whilst waiting an elderly gentleman was kept waiting who was obviously struggling to stand was not offered a seat. I will be writing directly to manager to share my disgust at his attitude. I don't know how he sleeps at night.

We've used this place a few times sometimes the foods been of moderate standard and sometimes it's not that great, the problem I have over everything is the attitude the owner has to his customers, this man is unfriendly completely rude and arrogant, although it is handy for us currently I think it's well worth going to absolutely any other fish and chip in kendal..

Este "fish and chips" es ridículo, me fui después de un paseo con mi esposa y mi hijo. Me pilla el horario dijo que estarían abiertos a las 4.45 pm, así que caminamos en tiempo para la apertura. A la llegada de las puertas que abre y una puerta en la parte delantera de la tienda estaba cerrada y el chico ni siquiera nos hablan hasta 15 minutos de espera bajo el caliente sol rojo y luego unos gritos fuera de la tienda qué quieres!?!?!?!? Bueno, me gustaría que no anuncian a abrir en el trimestre 5 entonces ni nos molestamos dejando que la cola de gente esperando que llega tarde y ni siquiera la molestia de ir a su Freidoras .. En mi opinión si anuncian que en trimestre a 5 abierto luego estará listo para servir en ese momento no sólo se abren y tienen gente esperando por su incompetencia. Y después de 35 minutos de espera para casi 40 unas patatas fritas que donde la más pequeña porción de patatas fritas grande que he visto! Nunca estará esperando dinero aquí!! He adjuntado una foto de las patatas fritas que tenía que pagar £2.40 por porción y porque mi esposa decidió que quería otra porción ya que parecía tan pequeña y él puso sus ojos en ella chistaba(! Qué joker! Cómo este lugar sigue funcionando nunca se sabe!

Pedimos Jumbo salchichas, patatas fritas y salsa. Personal amable, rápido, patatas fritas crujientes salchichas bien, y salsa era el mejor que he probado, gruesas y sabroso. Volveremos

Just had chips and gravy for lunch . It was lovely. Chips perfectly cooked, gravy just the right flavour and thickness and not lumpy. Just what I wanted.

Visited family a week ago and picked up fish and chips for lunch from here. The fish was good, chips not great . Everything was cooked fresh to order which meant it hadn't been sat around for long. Given the price I don't think it was great value

Recently moved to this side of Kendal, Used the Wee Chippy a few times......Lovely fish and chips would recommend them any time.

This is the only place in Kendal we have found that sells battered burgers - a favourite with my eldest daughter. Always friendly and lovely food.

Gordon and his family run this Chippy and the snack shop next door great fish and chips and lovely fresh sandwiches for lunch or jacket potato.Lunch time is great and quick service for a fresh whatever you want sandwich

The goods take too long to cook and the the chips are like cardboard with the highest prices to town. Don't go there. The service is not friendly at all.

Disgusting chippy the fat needs cleaning the man frying needs to smile and look like he wants to give you a good meal very pricey for crap food but the brunch bar next door is ace even though run by the same people

Excllent food, very good fish and chips, excellent service as they or very quick and will always help you out. They have good parking spaces.

I would avoid this place like the plague I orderd chips an beans with a jumbo sausage, the chips tasted like they had been reheated several times an the beans looked like they came straight out the back of chewbaccas crack an ring as you will see in the picture I have uploaded. Awful place get Chinese food instead.

Awful chips - as others have said, part fried and then re-fried to heat them up and finish the cooking on ordering. No point in doing this, as the fish appears to be fried fresh, so why can't the chips be as well?! The man was waiting on the fish to be ready a good few minutes after the chips anyway. On the plus side, he was pleasant enough, not like some other people have suggested.Fish portion was very small (and expensive) compared to others, and not cooked well...batter burnt in places, soggy/undercooked in others. Stomach definitely didn't feel right after eating here. I wish I'd read the reviews before going, just don't bother with this place!

Great staff nice fish and chips good work guys. The shop is always busy nice place it's a it hard to order but it's a home from home friendly business if you want a meal done write go here or just go home and cook.

I visited for the second time tonight. Ordered battered Haggis, chips, battered sausage and gravy. The gravy was delicious and so were the chips and sausage. My son said the battered haggis was better than any he'd tasted in Scotland. Praise undeed! I would definitely go back.

Sausage and chips dread to think what was in the sausage chips tasted as thou they had been reheated and made with very old fat most of it went in the bin

This has to be the worst chippy going I've never done a review before:The chips & sausage 90% sure they were reheated & my partner wasn't pleased with the fish. And the man serving me was very unpleasant. A smile & manners cost nothing. To top it off our unfussy eater "dog" wouldnt even eat the sausage.

We visited this place twice and both occasions the chips tasted re-heated and they were tough. The fish was just awful and the sausage tasted of meat substitute. On both occasions we informed staff that the food was inadequate to which we got a "don't care" response. Such a same as this could be a little gold mine as it is positioned on a very large estate.

I'm really surprised at all the negative reviews. I really like the chips, in fact it's the only chippy in Kendal I've actually enjoyed. The chips are nice and crispy on the outside which is how I like them. Had mushy peas and curry too, also very nice.

Chips were really yellow and dry.. The batter on the fish was minging and the sausage was burnt, not good at all and especially for the price.

The chips are not nice. Look a yellow colour but the portion sizes are also rather small, which is actually not a bad thing when the chips are bad.Worst part is the staff are often rude too. On the plus side next door the owner runs a sandwich shop and this is often very good with filling sandwiches and a variety of options.

I am not one to winge on here unless absolutely terrible !! Bought chips cheese and beans, chips were obviously part fried then fried on demand resulting in poor tasting chips... Also cheese tasted not quit right, I work in a food business myself so I don't say this half heartedley When asked if I could purchase a large fork to eat beans etc with as proposed fork was clearly not suitable for anything like sloppy cheese and beans, I was told they don't sell such forks ..... Shocking !! Tried to persevere with measly plastic fork and struggled , best part if a fiver in the nearest bin :( Had started visiting this chippy recently... Just lost a customer !!

Worst chippy in Kendal and unfortunately it's the nearest to me. At least I'll lose weight by walking to town to a better one.

we decided to get some fish and chips from the wee chippy for the first time and was very disappointed, the fish and chips was nothing special, the service was miserable as not one of the staff there was at all welcoming or cheerful mind you neither were the customers which says a lot and i left feeling rather glum and deflated. Will definitely not be going back again ! :-(

Went in at lunch time, chips we awful, and looked like they were the night befores chips, and the sausage must of been last nights as there was no sausages ready and it was in the warming cabinet within 1 min, ending up chucking it all in the bin and went to stavely chippy on our way hom. Will never be eating at the wee chippy ever again YAK! Plus I got more from stavley and paid less then the wee chippy

the chippy has improved i now go back on a regular basis since it has improved. the chips taste a lot better staff seem to be more happier and polite. still charges 5P for forks and a box to have your food in. i really hope that they keep it this way

Went in about 7pm no other customers were in i asked for Fish and Chips i noticed the Guy who owns the Chippy putting already fried chips from a container back to fry when i got home and opened up the paper the chips were of different sizes and hard with a very small fish none of it was tasty more than half i threw away i wont be going back

Sadly, I've yet to find a decent Chippy in Kendal, but this one is worth pointing out as particularly bad, despite me giving it the benefit of the doubt on more than one occasion. To begin with, it's seriously expensive. The fish is small and very unlike any cod I've ever tasted before, the chip portions are measly and are tough and rubbery, looking like they've been on a continuous reheat since the last time they were open. Charges are made for boxes for chips, pots for sauces (gravy, curry etc) and mini forks. One one occasion I was given an IOU for the change I was owed as they had cashed up (yet were still open???). When I tried to cash it in the following was told to get on my bike. Less than impressed. On another time I saw a mother order food for her children and not be given any change. She questioned this she was told she had been given extra portions of food as they had run out of pound coins. On my final visit I saw another gentleman complain and he was told when it was his business he could strive to do better, but until that day he should keep his opinion to himself.I've learned my lesson, please don't make the same mistake.

This used to be my regular chippy, but recently it's gone down hill in a big way! The guy behind the counter is so rude and seems irritated by people asking for things. The fish used to be lovely, however after my last few visits it had a very strange metalic taste to it which made it unedable! The price is at the top end of what you would expect to pay aswell, so you would expect it to be nice! The chips were very greasy and seemed as though the oil was old. I wouldn't dare complain to the manager he's rude and unpleasant enough already! My parents live just round the corner from the wee chippy and have also had bad experience with the food and the rude man, none of us will be going there again!

Was dissapointed by their cod and chips.Cost me over a fiver.The cod tasted strange,um ,eh, am not even sure it was cod.The chips did not look nor taste fresh. I suspect they had been reheated over and over again. Would not recommend

Used to go over at lunch from college. The food can be good from time to time but most of the time i'd say it's bad. Also charging 5p for a box to put my chips in :/. The boxes aren't even worth 5p. Anyway that aside. Staff are nice, talkative and friendly not to sure if I'll go back again

Not sure why they are so bad, as this is local to me i really want them to improve so I can think about returning,

The chips were dark golden and looked fantastic. They were awful though. They tasted foisty as if they had been warmed up more than once. They were greasy and quite inedible. On the plus side we enjoyed feeding the nearby ducks although the food was a lot more expensive than stale bread!
