Stayed in the hotel so it was easy, wasn't expecting much but it was wonderful. I had the burger sliders and partner had jerk chicken. Bloody delicious! Service was fantastic, even though they were busy. Breakfast time they did block off some parts which makes sense as there was no need for it all to be open. People complaining about that and getting cutlery themselves need to see the bigger picture. Certainly recommend. Thank you.

We popped into The Weathervane for a quick early evening meal. Areas of the pub were cordoned off with tacky plastic chain link and we were not able to find a seat where we could comfortably sit quietly and talk as we ate. The food was delivered and we were unceremoniously told that we had to fetch our own cutlery. I thought we had come to a restaurant not Morrisons cafe. Considering that this is a pub chain ,I would recommend that future patrons go to The Hem Heath pub which is also a Hungry Horse/Green King pub where you will be served with alot more care and attention. Currently after being here about a half hour, we have not been asked how our food was. At least at Morrisons cafe ,members of staff will ask you if your food is OK. Sadly, as I have eaten here previously in days gone by, this venue is not what it was. Disappointed 😞

Fantastic food, thank you..... Just popped in for a quick dinner with my son. They were very busy and had a slight wait on food, but dealt with it really well. Thank you to Robyn, Matt and Jess H, all very super friendly.... made all the difference. We can definitely recommend the fish and chips.... See you all soon x

Absolutely amazing 😍 would recommend, compliments to the chef! I had a sizzler combo with chicken skewers and my partner had a sizzler combo with steak.

The food was fantastic, the staff however seemed to be a little unimpressive. The manager seemed to be running around like a headless chicken, Holly the absolute hero came and cleaned up all the tables was busily working but polite and curtious. Then there was a third member of staff she seemed to be more interested in checking her phone, chatting up 2 patrons giving away free coffee, drinking red bull and not answering the work phone. I find that the 1 member of staff just lets everything else down. Holly had shouted the millennial a few times but ended up doing the jobs herself. Like I say it just let's certain times down.

Arrived 1/2 hour early. Staff at front of house made us so welcome, cleaned our table thoroughly before we sat. Food and prices were amazing. Thank you

Stayed at this hotel for 4 months , the staff are fantastic , understanding and very helpful , kept my room clean, anything I needed I got straight away , locked out my room , finish 1am from work , let me in and opened my door until I could find my key , overall stay was brilliant , can’t thank them enough ,5 star .

Service was good food was ok apart from peppercorn sauce was cold and thickwhen the waiter came over and offered some more sauce but we had alreadyfinished our meal . But other than that was a good night

No qualms with the food or drink , only qualm I would mention is the windows on the inside and out could do with a good clean as looks long overdue , appreciate it's near the main road but first impressions and all that

Very disappointed. The food was good but the atmosphere was none existent and the loud headhunting music was anything but suitable for Hogmanay. After just two hours we called a taxi to come home and tune into BBC Scotland to see what it’s like.

We went out to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday in a party of 13. The staff there were nothing but exceptional, we were there longer than we anticipated but we were never rushed along and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were even kind enough to store and bring out the cake, join in singing and even provide us with a good knife to cut the cake. All the servers Neve, Nikki, Jess H and Rachel did all they could to make our evening special and I can't express my thanks enough. I hope the management see this and reward the team for such an amazing job! Good was grand as well don't forget the good job the cooks did as well, sadly I didn't get their names but they were working the 28th of December and all our meals were perfect and they accommodated all our dietary requirements.

First time here and I was slightly nervous about the social distancing. How wrong was I to worry. The pub was set out really well, clear signs for the one way and the staff were fantastic.... greeted at the door, shown to our table and everything explained. The App is easy to use and team happy to help with any chances I wanted to make. Clean, tidy and fresh throughout. Credit to the company. Keep it going. We WILL be back.

Hi there my husband and myself went yesterday 9/7/2020 to the weather vain at meir park and what a great welcome we had we were greeted at the door hand sanitised was explained everything that was going on by Terry the boss and we were shown 1 way around the pub then to our table . We ordered our extra large mixed grills and they cam out they were put on near by table . So the servers didn't lean over us . And once again the meals were presented great . And cooked to perfection . Then jess the assistant bar and restaurant boss came asked us how the meal was and is everything ok for us we said yes perfect . The restaurant was clean and the staff so polite couldn't do enough for us .. .you have a great pub and staff well done all . Look forward to seeing you again soon xx

the hash browns on the breakfast were really cold they did offer to cook me some more but I would have finished eating by then.

Dirty menus, no beer mats on tables and tables dirty but plenty of staff standing round earlier when it wasnt busy.Only plus is that on the lady who served us was strict on ID but food wise we had the Big Pkate Gammon which was burnt to a crisp one side and served with cold chips. There was also no table check back during ot after our meal.

Our visit to the weathervane was lovely, the food was nice, staff that served us were friendly and the waitress who's name was Midge was lovely and polite

I was taken out for a birthday meal after doing some shopping and having enjoyed meals here before, it was my first choice e.

A lovely meal we both had curry banquet . The serves was great went straight in got table .Ordered our meal and drink the service was quick the meal was lovely . The staff were great very polite and asked us if meal was ok and if we need anything . Couldn't fault the restaurant or the staff Would recommend it

We were served by the most pleasant girl we have ever met, her name is Victoria she was so helpful and nice we will be calling for lunch next week.

Had a family meal and the food was brilliant. Large portions, tender steaks, tasty curry and lovely wine. It was even better as had signed up to their website so 4 adult meals and wine cost £36. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back soon.

Thanks to all the staff at The weathervane for going above and beyond to make our family boxing day get together one to remember. 48 family members were served with starters mains and desserts within an impressive timescale. Bar staff were extremely pleasant and the manager Terri couldn't be more polite and helpful as well as joining in with our family giggles. Crayons and pictures as well as building blocks and other toys to keep the kiddies happy were a real godsend also !

Staying next door at the Best Western Hotel we visited this pub/restaurant for evening meal and breakfast. Both meals were very nice. Our evening meal was well cooked and came quickly and was competitively priced. The breakfast was very nice the next morning and the staff were all very friendly.

Cannot fault this place. Every visit I've had the service and food is great. Its a brilliant pub with a wide choice on the menu and catered for down to a t for kids. Will be going again very soon no doubt.

Oh dear. When they first re-opened it was brilliant, but I'm afraid it's gone to pot. The table was filthy the food was uncooked , ill timed garbage. Really disappointing visit after we had such a good meal here a couple of times after the renovation. Please don't waste your money!

Visited on a Friday approx 1900hrs. I have been to hungry horse restaurants before but none decorated in this way. It is know longer a pub but more themed eaterie. It was very clean and bright and the staff were friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for a quiet meal these places are not for you as they are full of larger parties and families. We chose it knowing this as we have eaten at other pubs in the chain. The menu was full of the old favourites such as burgers,gammon,steak,chicken tikka etc but also included salads and pizzas. I had half a chicken in sweet chilli glaze. Others in the party had chicken breast, half chicken and the chicken tikka banquet. I have to say we all agreed that the chickens were comparable to Nandos. The tikka banquet was huge incuding rice chips naan and bhajis. We didn't have room for deserts but they all looked good value and appetizing. We had four soft drinks and the bill was just over £40. If you want good value food in a family friendly enviroment this place is brilliant. It would have been 5* but the toilets let it down. I think they probably started off the evening spotless as they smelt great and looked newly decorated. However I think some kids had been let loose unattended as there was a lot of water on the floor and loo roll thrown about and blocking one of the toilets. Apart from that a very enjoyable visit.

Visited at lunch time it was very busy and we had to wait for half an hour to be seated (but it was a Friday and school holidays) having been shown to a table we were soon served and we all enjoyed our meal. The staffapologise for the delay and we're very helpful we will all return when next in the area

I came here for lunch with friends during a visit to the area. I love the new look - and the food was good and served quickly.I will be back!

Been twice to try and get a table. Both times met by arrogant staff who would not give us a table as all tables for two were taken even though tables for more were empty. So have walked away. Appalling customer relations and I am not the only one to think so.

New look like a McDonald's than a pub. Loud music and noisy. Very limited menu and no longer do Sunday lunch. Not my thing at all. They focus on young families and children now.

Fantastic refurb, has really brightened up the place- much more welcoming now, a lot better clientele. Staff are friendly and attentive despite how busy it is. Will definitely be returning!

Went one afternoon with my family to see the "new look". I can't believe what a difference it has made! The restaurant is really light and fresh and the menu was great. I had a salad which you could change the topping on for free and my family had the new chicken options where you choose the flavour, sides and type of chicken. Fantastic meals and the staff were very welcoming. The price of the meal was a very pleasant surprise, the menu seems really reasonably priced. The ice cream station was a good bonus too. I would definitely go back there.

Talk about a wow ! Bright and fresh looking with space to move around ... Although it was extremely busy it did not feel like it was. The staff were happy and very friendly and you could tell they were enjoying their jobs! I like the fun things for the kids to do on the tables it stopped them from running around ... And then my food came and we loved it. We had fresh cooked chicken wings with ribs on a sharing tray with dips ! A home made pizza and a Mexican salad. I took photographs because it looked so good. Definitely worth a visit.

I attended the revamped Weathervane for the preview night on Tuesday 2nd February 2016. I was amazed at the transformation from a dark and dull interior to a bright and colourful change. The new menu was sound. It retained some of the present Hungry Horse menus and had some additions which seemed to increase the range of choices. I could not fault the meal I received and the attention I received from the from management to the floor staff. Well done and I hope the pub will gain more plaudits as it progresses.

We had a late lunch the stadf and food WAS FAR BETTER than our last visit could not fault it at all a much improved place.

Dirty glasses dirty cutlery. Starters nice mains well if I weren't staving I'd have sent it back. I think the chef needs a lesson on how to cook steak and the difference between medium which is what was asked for and well done which is how it came. Even managed to get a rare steak wrong that my partner ordered. Desserts were nice though.

The menu was varied with lots of choice and the price was reasonable price. The staff were very cheerful and chatty. The restaurant was clean and tidy.

Excellent value for money! Ate here 4 nights running & all meals fantastic! Had grandparents & children with me & all were catered for. Deals on every night, brilliant children's menu & one for Golden Years which delighted Grandma. Good service & presentation. One night there was a quiz which kept the kids entertained. Nothing to fault. Recommend reserving a table as some nights were busy with locals.

We visited here on Sunday lunch as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 young children. They do an offer of 2 Sunday dinners for £10.We both had the veggie option as last time my husband felt there was very little beef. The meals were both hot and plentiful, apart from the fact we paid extra for mash potato which was smaller than one spoonful!Our children had a meal each of fish fingers chips and beans, cheaply priced at £2.99 and the portions were big!Its child friendly with balloons and activity sheets for the children.I heard someone complaining to the bar staff about the cleanliness of the cutlery and I did notice the wine glasses were dirty. If they sorted this problem out then it would definitely be worth a visit.In total for 2 Sunday dinners, 2 childrens meals and juice, plus a bottle of wine the bill came to £25 which I think is good value (apart from the pitiful mash!).

When there is a lot of people eating you can wait up to an hour for food but the food was very nice when we got it ,

Mothers day, as a single mum it's the time of year that I value most! A day out with my son... I was chuffed when The Weathervane advertised that mums have free meals! So I decided to bring my son out for tea as I normally can't afford to do so... I bought drinks - overpriced. Then I sat down to choose our food... When I went to order I discovered that in order to qualify as a "Mum" you had to come to the restaurant with FOUR PEOPLE!!! I don't have 3 children.. I have one... So therefore in the eyes of weathervane am I not a mum? Disgusted. The staff had absolutely no idea what to say as in all honesty how could they argue. I will NEVER come here again. I do not recommend at all.

Not a good experience in my opinion. Presentation poor, attention to detail poor. Staff were attentive but they don't cook the food. Maybe the chef should do the table check, after all he or she cooks the food. Chef to patron, " did you enjoy your meal", patron to chef "did i ask for raw bacon on my burger, no so why did you give it to me, please drag that piece of raw meat off my plate and go and put it back under the grill, there's a good chap" joking apart, the waitresses were attentive and deserve a pat on the back, the chef, well he or she needs nailing to the Best Western sign outside under the words Budget Hotel. While you're cooking for them, that's all you will be. BUDGET!. But all in all, Much to the teenage youths disgust i wrapped the raw bacon in a napkin and to it home for the cat. He unlike me was chuffed to death. Lets see if he survives the night.

This is the second time in two weeks that we have been here, last week, 22/01/15 we went with friends, we specifically asked for no peas, but alas, it came with peas and we waited for nearly an hour for our mains, this week, our starters came out after we received our mains, on both occasions the chips were warm, which is not ideal but is manageable . This place needs to deal with it's issues as it was once a thriving business, but unfortunately now, we won't be going unless we get a recommendation from someone who has had a good meal there

This October was our third time staying at this hotel as it is close to family and alton towers overall everything is good but the only problem we had this time was on arrival we got told we could not pay by cash which for one we was not told on booking and two we never had this problem the last two times we stayed and as a Greene king employee at a hotel myself I have never heard of not being able to pay by cash on arrival if I didn't have enough cash on my card it wouldn't be such a big problem for us as we had family near by although after a long journey to the hotel to be told that wasn't to good but the gentleman behind us didn't have his card as his business gave him the cash to pay for two nights as like us was not told they couldn't pay by cash and as he had no card to pay he had to look for another hotel to stay and as it was past 8pm it would be hard for him to find some where to stay so really on booking people should be told that they can't pay by cash or at least accept cash on arrival

Stayed the night before a day out at Alton Towers. Upon check-in, the lady on reception was friendly and welcoming, checked us in and told us how to get to our room, explained the times the breakfast was served etc. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfy and the room was dark once the curtains were closed. There was also tea and coffee making facilities, with biscuits and a tv. The bathroom was clean and had some nice little toiletries for guest use. The shower was powerful enough, but was very hot and didn't seem to get any colder even when it was put on the coldest setting. But that didn't bother me too much. In the morning we went down to breakfast and were sat down, the staff were friendly and took our room number. They then came back to us to tell us our stay was room only, something I wasn't sure about and thought since we were told about it upon check in that it was included, that was a little embarrassing but not the end of the world.The food in the Hungry Horse on site was cheap and very nice, there is a McDonalds across the road also. All in all a very pleasant stay and I would definitely stay again!

Stopped off on way back from Alton towers, purely by chance.The meal was extremely good value for money and portions was huge.Couldn't ask for better

Excellent eve meal. Very good offers. Clean and tidy excellent friendly service. If you buy a evening meal you get your cooked breakfast at 25% off for the following morning. Continental breakfast is a bit limited.

Part of the Hungry Horse chain of restaurants, The Weathervane offers good value meals at very reasonable cost. It recently introduced a special deal for over 60s offering two courses for £4.49 between 12.00 and 5.00 p.m. The restaurant was not too busy even though it was a Friday evening that we were there. On other occasions there have been many families with children making it perhaps less suitable for a couple wanting a quiet meal together. We enjoyed our meal and the staff were pleasant. In summary, it is good for families or a group of friends and it won't break the bank.

Called in on a Saturday evening as we had a money off voucher. Both had burgers. The food tasted great and the service was great too. The resturant was packed with families but we didn't have to wait too long before our food arrived. The quality of food is average, but you get what you pay for so we weren't put off. Great place for a cheap meal out :-)

We called in to the Weathervane on Sunday morning on Mothers day 30th March 2014, and enquired if they could book us a table for dinner at later that day, was one of the most busy days of the year. the staff member was very polite and efficent and friendly with us it was no problem for them. our table was reserved for 19.30h they even had time to arrange a suprice birthday cake for June on her birthday with candles..We have visited the Weathervane on our own and with friends many time before, the food is always good with plenty of choice on the menu and is all cooked fresh, the staff are just amazing always have a smile for you never appear to be down hearted like other resuarant you visit. We would higly recommed the Waethervana restuaranat for good food at a good price and atmosphere. If you haven't been yet you are sure missing out in the Stoke area.we will be back very soon. Maybe it was just an off day for the chef, but my meal was awful, it looked and tasted like it had been reheated a number of times, and the fact the the main course arrived about 5 mins after ordering, tells me it probably was. We had a mixed grill and the meat looked like really cheap cuts, but the meal wasn't too expensive so we couldn't really complain on that. I had the wild burger and I like very spicy food so went for the 5 tick habanero sauce, I have tasted spicier custard, it was glorified ketchup and served in the smallest paper cup I've ever seen. The burger was swimming with grease, and just looking at it turned my stomach. The restaurant itself looked tired and in need of a good clean. It's not somewhere I shall be returning to.

Stayed here the night before going to Alton Towers. Staff were lovely, rooms need a bit of an upgrade but the bed was very comfortable and room was adequate for a one night stay. Kettle was green inside. The Pub however was excellent and the food was really good. Breakfast was really good too and great value for money. Would stay again but could do with some TLC.

On the way to alton towers we stopped here for breakfast !!Was not impressed at all, Ingredients were cheep and basic, food was really cheep but I would prefer to pay a little extra and have a nice meal. The place looked shut on arrival as all lighting at the front was off and they serve breaky in the back bar, Coffee machine was out of action and when i went to use the WC I was asked to use the disabled as they were cleaning the others and that really smelt like drains..................
