Beautiful find with great choice of Asian fusion and sushi options

I can’t say enough good things about Waterside Kitchen & Bar! This isn’t our first visit, and it certainly won’t be our last. From the moment we made our reservation to the time we settled at our table, we were treated with exceptional care. The staff at Waterside are incredibly polite and professional, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. They are not only patient but genuinely very helpful, making every interaction feel personal and special. A special shoutout to Dalila, who took care of every single detail to ensure our evening was truly memorable. Her attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction made a significant difference in our experience. If you’re looking for a delightful dining experience with a fantastic team that goes above and beyond, look no further than Waterside Kitchen & Bar. Highly recommended!

Great service, nice decor and location however the food did not justify it's price. The food was okay, not great, and you're paying rather high prices for it. Our California roll (£17.50 for 8 peices by the way) contained significant amounts of what I assume to be crab shell, our steak was incredibly tough, the katsu chicken was very watery so the breaded chicken became Incredibly soggy. Maybe worth a try but it was not good enough for us to return.

Visited on valentine's day and it was the best service I have received. This was my second time visiting and I can 100% say that this restaurant shouldn't deserve 4/5 stars, it should deserve 5. The food is never disappointing and the atmosphere and mood of the restaurant is very cozy. Will definitely visit regularly.

Great food, casual atmosphere with good service and friendly staff. Really enjoyed the sashimi, california rolls, duck rolls and poke bowl. Desserts were all really good, especially cheesecake and the miso brownie.

Stunning as always, from the friendly welcome, top class service remembering you from the last visit and where you like to sit, to great cocktails and incredible food. We are certainly now frequent visitors to this great restaurant located on the gorgeous lakes in South Cerney! Well worth a visit if you are in the area. You won’t leave disappointed! One of my favourite places, I’ve been SO many times. The staff are amazing, the food is fantastic and fresh. My go to place for sushi and high end dishes. Special occasion or just a cute meeting place, definitely worth the visit. The cocktails are brilliant as well as a bristling wine selection, and the soft drinks selection means you won’t feel out! They have outdoor pods you can book which are nice and private!

Websites says, 5:00 closes. Turned up at 3:45 got our menus and orders we went to Order at bar and on the way there someone came up to us and said stopped serving food at 3:00!!! Adleast Needing this info on website or before we got our seats and orders.

Disappointing and Disheartening Experience, please read the other reviews before dining here. My friends and I were excited to visit this restaurant during our trip to the Cotswolds, but unfortunately, our experience was far from welcoming. We arrived on Thursday, 29th January, around 6 PM, only to be greeted quite unpleasantly by a waiter who immediately told us the restaurant was fully booked despite there being only two people in the restaurant. What made the situation worse was his dismissive tone—he offered no alternative dates or suggestions, just a blunt refusal. Something felt off, and as we left, we couldn’t help but notice the uneasy reactions of his coworkers, which made us question whether we were being told the truth. To test our suspicions, we had a friend call the restaurant shortly after, asking for a table for the same number of people in our party (7) that evening. Shockingly, they were told there was availability and were offered a 7:45 PM reservation without hesitation. We couldn’t help but feel as though we had been discriminated against. This left us feeling deeply disheartened and quite sad, as it seemed we had been treated very unfairly. We had been very excited to try the food here, but instead, we left with a sour taste in our mouths. Thankfully, the rest of our trip was filled with warm and welcoming experiences elsewhere, which only highlighted how out of place this treatment felt. I truly hope this was an isolated incident, but based on our experience and many other reviews, I can see it certainly was not. I would strongly recommend reading through their reviews before visiting. I wouldn’t wish the experience we endured on anyone. Hospitality and service should be at the heart of any dining establishment, and sadly, there wasn’t any here.

Restaurant Told us we couldn't eat at their restaurant without a booking and that they were "booked out". This is while there were only 2 other customers occupying the whole restaurant. We left the restaurant, but wanted to call bs... so we called up again to make a booking the same day, and surprise, surprise... we were given a sameday reservation time. Waste of time travelling to this place

Went on a Wednesday night for my girlfriends birthday. The woman serving us was lovely and the food was amazing. A good price for the food we had, and a great atmosphere and setting. Was around 5 other tables when we went.

We love this place and trying to come often, food is so good, atmosphere is nice and relaxing and lovely service. Menu is not to big and, so not much option to choose, but anything from that made you enjoyed it . :)

What a wonderful little find!! Amazing food, beautiful quality with fantastic service to boot!! We had a mixture of small plates and sushi, good portion sizes and well priced. We will be back, I can't wait to try the rest of the menu and see the venue in the daylight.

EXTREMELY disappointing - save your money and go elsewhere. I paid £17 for the Salmon Yaki from the specials menu. I was met with a bowl of cold rice (after being told by the waitress that the dish didn't contain rice), topped by some bits of lettuce and cucumber, and some chunks of cold crumbled salmon on top. I couldn't believe I had parted ways with almost £20 for a cold salmon salad that was clearly made up of leftovers the kitchen was keen to get rid of. The fact it was even on the specials menu is bewildering to me. The lamb curry I ordered was exceedingly average, and the noodle side dish tasted and felt just like instant noodles without the seasoning packet, only 20 times more expensive. To make matters even worse, a waiter took away my partner's empty plate whilst I was still eating which was quite unprofessional, and made me feel very rushed. After forking out over £80 for our meal, my partner and I were left very unsatisfied. There are so many great places to eat in the Cotswolds, but sadly Waterside is not one of them.

We recently went to celebrate my partner's birthday. The service and atmosphere was absolutely amazing and the food came out very fast. The food was incredible, it was so fresh and tasted so flavourful and light. It was one of the best meals we've ever had. We would definitely come back again.

We stopped here for a drink in the sun after a local dog walk, and sat in the garden area. Great staff, nice selection of drinks and surprisingly quiet on a sunny Sunday (presumably because the kitchen was about to close). Would like to come back to try to Japanese dishes.

Lively Kitchen Bar, Food was served quickly and presented very well. Tasty food, friendly staff. Definitely recommend visiting.

Delicious food here! The food was great, sitting outside was very pleasant in this weather and the service was smooth and very pleasant. Ate curry fries for the first time, and many vegetarian options. It is Asian tapas, so shared dining and you take 2-3 dishes per person. We did this in two rounds, so that you could adjust how much you wanted in the second round. Recommended!

A wonderful meal. The food was fantastic, we enjoyed everything we ordered. Especially the sushi! Service was very warm and friendly. Caio makes the best cocktails :) the raspberry margarita is delicious. An what a beautiful setting for a summer evening dinner.

Service was a bit slow but the waiting on staff were excellent, and the food, when it arrived was very good.

To be honest I had high hopes for this place but in the end was pretty disappointed. You pay quite a premium for the food so you expect the quality to be good. For example we had Monkfish scampi. It wasn't monkfish it was cod that flaked apart. At £17 for a side I expect it accurate. There are also many dishes labeled "fillet steak" It's not fillet. Meat grain was the same a beef skirt. Other than that the atmosphere was OK, I wouldn't go again purely because I'd expect better from the food especially when tapas dishes are around £20 per dish

I had the best meal I have had in ages at the Waterside last night. The flavours were so delicious. Highly recommend the prawn and squid curry dish. Service was also great. It would be dangerous if i lived near here. Hopefully we will be back!

It was a true delight to eat fresh sushi rolls prepared with care and attention by Chef Ruwan. The perfect combo - seasoned rice, fresh fish, crisp vegetables, and savory sauces created a harmonious balance of taste and texture. Thank you for your hospitality team Waterside.

Delicious Japanese themed food, with great options for the kids. Lovely decor, staff and although well worth it not the cheapest. A hidden gem for celebrations, birthdays and paydays.

Poor customer service- we asked to sit on a table in the sun, “no you can’t sit there” even tho the restaurant is completely empty, with 20 tables free. Then we asked, can we sit outside in the glass bubble, “no you have to book that for lunch” I said I called and booked for lunch…. This is called lazy customer service…no effect at all. Won’t be coming back again.

Amazed at how well this restaurant crosses over cuisine’s. Better English breakfast than most English cafes and great coffee too. 5 ⭐️

The food served was absolutely delicious. The only downside was that the staff were busy chatting amongst themselves or looking at their phones, so we had to call them over to order drinks and then again to place our order for food.

A little gem in beautiful surroundings.

Update: we've been a couple of times since our initial visit and both have been very nice. Our most recent was Friday with our two daughters who absolutely loved the place - which is a relief to say the least. Our youngest is a vegetarian and our oldest is into sushi and both really enjoyed their meals. We went early which suits us well. All in all a nice place that is easy to recommend. ___________________________________ We stay nearby and were at a loose end and looking for somewhere to eat dinner. We hadn't booked but gave it a go. The welcome was extremely friendly and, as it happens, there was a table available. The place is, evidently, popular and, therefore, very busy so booking is advised. The staff were all excellent and the manager was amongst the most efficient I've ever seen. He never stopped keeping the place running smoothly. The food - tapas style (small plates not spanish) sushi and sides - was delicious. Don't eat for a while before (if you don't have a large appetite)so you can experience it fully as it is truly worth it. Our waitress (apologies I didn't get her name) was an absolute star and extremely helpful. Definitely a place we will come back to with our older children and friends and I'd highly recommend it.

Excellent food, just the right amount, very good service, not pushy and plenty of time to check the menus. Service with a smile plus attentive, always notice if you require more drinks etc. Good atmosphere not noisey, plenty of room to eat , no one pushing past.

We dropped in here thinking it was still the Cafe I remember. Wow its nothing like that any more Smart relaxed atmosphere with food that is clean light and incredibly yummy I was looking for a better word but couldn't If you're looking for authentic Asian in a relaxed atmosphere you have to visit Anyone out walking in the cotswold water park looking for light lunch- drop in you'll not regret it

We were staying at the Pochard lodges, so it was a very short walk away. Looks great inside, and the food and service were really good.

Good quality food. They need to work on serving it up at the same time for everyone 😉 It ruins the experience when you are eating and your friends are still waiting.

We booked after recommendation from friends and were not disappointed. Nice laid back atmosphere, great service. Not rushed at all so you can sit and enjoy a long lunch without any pressure of next sitting. Indoor dining and all year round terrace with heaters which is where we sat…it was really cosy. Chefs have an open kitchen so you can see your food being prepared. We had about 7 dishes and everything was delicious, really tasty and colourful, all freshly made. Probably the best gyoza I’ve had Small but decent wine list and cocktails look amazing. Our bill was around £100 with service, inc. bottle of wine. We felt it was well worth it. I highly recommend and will definitely be returning soon.

Lovely atmosphere, faux cherry blossom and flowers everywhere with display cases of their wines. Two parts to the Restaurant, you can sit inside or there is a covered area with lake views which is just as nice. Food-wise, we ordered a variety of sushi; squid; scallops; ribs; lamb curry; chicken karaage. All items were full of flavour and well presented. I found the portion sizes were rather small and didn’t represent value for money. I would expect a curry to come with rice and not have to pay additionally for this. A minor annoyance was the constant beeping of the smoke alarm battery which needed changing! I would return though.

We took a chance and booked a lunch on my wife's birthday. We'd heard good things about this place and wanted to check it out for ourselves. We weren't disappointed. If you like Asian fusion style food you will definitely enjoy this menu. We ordered beef teriyaki, Katsu Chicken, tempura vegetables and sticky rice. All were really delicious. The service was excellent, friendly, helpful and attentive. The restaurant has two sections, an inside and a well covered terrace. We initially thought we'd sit inside, but on a modestly warm day, the terrace is really nice. There is also outside seating in the garden. It turned out to be a really good meal on a special day. So we'll definitely be back.

Just up the road from De vere water park on our second night, this Asian resteraunt is a must if you visit the area, we went in on Friday night the food was excellent i can't recommend a particularly dish there are so many, the staff brilliant and friendly, they welcomed our lhasa apso dog's so go and visit you will not be disappointed. Thank you to all the staff.

What a great venue Lovely food served by lovely people

I visited last week the staff member who greated me was very unwelcoming. I work in the area and help manage several holiday lodges in the Cotswolds, it's always nice to help make recommendations to guests who stay. I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay for a meal, i just wanted a drink and some tappas. The lady in charge ushered me out of her empty restaurant. I was sent outside to a shack. A drinks menu was presented. I asked if I could go and take a seat ... I didn't end up ordering anything. The lady told me off! 'YOU Pay Now... and then SIT' I closed the menu and went back to my car and drove away.

Me and my partner didn’t have the chance to experience anything as we were told the location is closed. So we have been there 5 mins ago, it’s 3:30pm, on the website says it’s open until 5pm. Incredibly professional! They should change their opening times, because we drove all the way down just for that location.

The same sauce is used across many dishes which makes them all taste very similar. The scallops were great but less so the other dishes. Great garden area with plenty of space.

In a sea of burgers and pizza this place really offers something different. The pan Asia menus is excellent and the cocktails will keep you for an extra hour. Certainly have the sushi rolls and the scallops are just divine.

Celebrated my birthday here as staying local and absolutely loved the food and outdoor terrace to sit. Was gorgeous Japanese food and as a bonus we were able to bring our dog too (they provided a food and water bowl which was appreciated). Highly recommend a visit!

We went for dinner and the food was amazing but unfortunately the service was simple awful. To the point of we could not have paid the bill quick enough just to get out of the place. Staff were just hanging around apart from one lady who was very good. I had to ask 3 times for a cocktail that my wife ordered and this was just the start of it every drink we ordered did not come until I had to asked again and again all the time watching the staff just hang round the bar doing nothing but chatting. This place is not cheap the service should be second to none. I emailed the company letting them know our experience a week ago and not had anything back. Shame on you relish group you have some great restaurants in your group and we us them all the time so we know you can get it right. I do think we will go back to the waterside kitchen any time soon.

We've been twice in 24hrs because the food is so good. Easily one of the best meals we've ever had. Tried the teriyaki vegetables, cauliflower karaake, black cod, duck pancakes, sticky ribs, sweet and sour chicken, chicken katsu, edamame beans and steamed rice. All absolutely delicious. The cod is expensive but utterly worth it. If they weren't closed on a Monday then we'd be going again tomorrow!

Sushi was delicious! Waterside Craft Ale was also excellent, very light and refreshing. Great location, look forward to coming again.

Visiting from London for a long weekend and from a first look the menu it looked great! We called for a takeaway, and was rudely told no without any reason - why offer a takeaway service, and not be able to accommodate one at 6:30pm on a Saturday evening?! So we decided to visit the restaurant to try our luck again! They begrudgingly told us we would have to wait for 1 hour for our food to be cooked. Arrived home and 4 dishes from our order were completely missing, the portion sizes weren't fit for a small child let alone four hungry adults! The takeaway bill came to a severe £148.00 which is an absolute ridiculous sum for the food received! We then returned back explaining the balls up, no compensation was provided and they were reluctant to cook us any further food!! The food was bland tasteless for instance one tiny fillet of chicken for the katsu at £12.00 the duck may aswell have just been crackling hardly no duck meat at £14.00 each plus they forgot to include the pancakes?! Don’t bother ordering the noodles as they are basically a small teaspoon size serving, all dishes were not even half filled. The tempura prawns were smothered in so much mayo, they were described as crispy, more like a soggy mess. All in all a waste of money and time. Absolutely avoid this place until they sort their service and chefs out! Will Not return EVER!

Dissapointing the standard of the food has declined with too many deep fried dishes and a greasy smell in the restaurant. Shame it used to be good.

My first 5 star review! This place was AMAZING! (I have been to Asia so know what good Asian food should taste like). The service was incredibly quick, we ordered drinks and they came within 1 min. The food also only took about 5 mins to arrive. The food was absolutely amazing, every single bite was heaven and I’m still drooling thinking about this meal. The staff were friendly and came to check on us mid meal. The place was beautiful and I would very highly recommend coming here. Absolutely amazing! For reference we ordered these dishes between 2 of us and it was the perfect amount.

Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. This tops Ivy Asia and is more competitive on price.
