The veggie breakfast is beyond sensational and so is the service The cafe was full of happy customers who were happy and smiling

We had our 25th wedding anniversary here and it was such a wonderful event. So well organised, we didn’t need to do a thing. The food was delish and the staff were so friendly and conscientious. We had a wonderful party & would definitely book again.

Food is great, as ever - no complaints about that. We go there fairly frequently. Went today for brunch with a friend and went to pay. They now automatically add a service charge to the bill, which is a recent change to their business practice. It specifies on the menu that groups of 6+ will be charged service, but no mention anywhere about it now being added for everyone, even couples or singles. They also still have a tips jar on the payment counter - a bit cheeky expecting tips on top of paying a service charge. None of the other cafes we go automatically add this charge.

Was visiting for the first time to this cafe yesterday (Sunday) and need to share what a joy to find a cafe with so many choices, nothing too much trouble, polite and helpful staff. Lady managing, tall and blonde, think her name was Michelle & her team explained the full of choice menu with a wonderful smile .. I am diary intolerant and had so much choice.. I will be back for sure with more friends and family

Amazing breakfast experience. Staff are the friendliest and most cheerful I have ever seen. They can not do enough for you and always have a smile on their face. The plates are full, and the teas are good large mugs. Highly recommend

Arrived at Cafe at just after 2pm,three of us and one dog, had to sit outside as unfortunately they didn't allow dogs in. Wasn't a problem even though it was a cold day. Waitress came out and took order at 210pm,we got told no kitchen food was available as they had so many orders so nothing could be cooked. So even though we all wanted the All Day Breakfast menu sadly we had to settle with a sandwich. Food arrived at 230,was ok quality, rather small and basic but ok. We left around 3pm only to see many other people had been served breakfast in the cafe that arrived after us? We felt very annoyed and disappointed that we had to settle for sandwiches when others after us had been given the breakfast option. Cant really understand what was going on. Why were we told this wasn't available?

Returned to this cafe as haven’t been for a while . Cafe has had a little revamp looks very welcoming . My chicken wrap was delicious & Kim who served me was a delight . I look forward to returning again very soon. Thank you Kim 😘

First time for myself and wife after recommendation from wife's friend. As soon as you walk in there is a really nice atmosphere and a very warm welcome. The 2 ladies that served us were so polite and helpful. The 2 breakfasts we had were of the scale and possible the best breakfasts we had had in decades so from now on this cafe will be our first choice for a cheeky breakfast or brunch. We visited the Watehouse Cafe for lunch having been there a couple of times before. The staff were friendly, the food was good with a nice ambience. Unfortunately the service was very poor . No menu was forthcoming , had to ask for one . Then no one came to take our order. We had to approach a member of staff a couple of times. Food took a long time to appear which made sitting on the most uncomfortable seats I've ever experienced in a cafe even worse. Luckily we spotted a pile of cushions which says it all. Really disappointing.

Waterhouse Cafe is a pleasant spacious cafe just outside Kingswood. There is plenty of choice on the menus and service was efficient and friendly. Although the cafe was closing soon, the staff were more than happy to serve us.

Well if this is rated 4/6 restaurants in Kingswood, the other 3 must be looking over their shoulders. Sunday brunch. Warm greeting at the door. My wife chose the scrambled eggs ( no snot please ) with smoked salmon on gluten free toast, and said it was perfect. So much salmon that what she left would comprise most restaurants start point. I had a fabulous English breakfast, again perfectly cooked. I think what set this place apart was the atmosphere created by happy patrons being served by a whole host of willing staff. There were literally 4 members of staff happy to help me choose from the variety of cakes to take home for tea. It is rare to find so many staff, all of whom were eager to please. Not a sigh between them. Well done. We shall return.

Saw this cafe on trip advisor, superb food and service, would thoroughly recommend. Parking for free right outside was a bonus as well.

We have ordered take aways from here a few times and the food is always excellent. I’d particularly recommend the steak or sausages baguettes, both huge portions & high quality. The staff are always friendly & helpful. We’ll definitely be regular visitors!

We have never been to the Waterhouse cafe before but had seen the good reviews. We wanted to have an afternoon tea for my birthday but rather than go out (as my husband is still shielding) we ordered afternoon tea boxes from the Waterhouse cafe which they delivered Everything was great - the finger sandwiches were so tasty, they definitely didn't scrimp on the fillings, the scones, cream and jam were yummy and the slices of cake were delicious and so light!! The extra touches of the strawberries and macaron made it extra special and such great value too.The lady I ordered from on the telephone (the manager I think) was so helpful and happy to change the sandwich fillings or choice of cake to suit. We were more than impressed, we will definitely ordering again and look forward to sampling some of their other menu choices when we get to visit the cafe.

Good parking on the roadside , government COVID recommendations are to a very high standard. Food can be ordered for take away with plenty of seating inside and out. The staff are friendly and the service is good.

After a quick google search for local breakfasts in the area, as we were staying nearby, we came across this place. What a find it was! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the coffee was great too! Highly recommend this place!

This is my local for a coffee and a get together for a chat . The owner and her staff are friendly and nice . The ham egg and chips is a great deal for the price . Although my only criticism would be to buy better bacon and sausages for the breakfast . The bacon is always to hard and dry . Other that that its always busy which tells you something !

My sister and I took our nephew for lunch, it was quite a special day as we hardly see our nephew, since our brother suddenly died in March, it was so nice being with him.We were seated, the lady serving us was an absolute sweetheart!We ordered our drinks, I popped to the restroom to wash my hands, it was nice and clean.I returned to my drink, I was expecting a latte with a vanilla shot- it is my sugar replacement.However, there was no vanilla taste at all, no matter, I drink it both ways, so I just added a sugar.We ate our sandwiches, they were great, we were enjoying being there and discussed coming here more often.At the end I went up to pay, a guy served me, he was running through my order, when he said Vanilla Latte, I simply said ‘I don’t think there was any Vanilla in my Latte’ I said it quietly leaning in as I was aware there were people seated right behind me and I didn’t want to be intrusive on their peaceful lunch.He turned, told someone next to him, then she was talking to someone, I could not see them, but then the tall, older blonde lady with glasses walked from behind and loudly said, ‘I’m sorry but there was definitely Vanilla in your Latte, I put it in’ a voice from behind said ‘Yeah I even watched you do it’ then she came back and added ‘I even put two shots in it’ huffing and almost laughing as if I had a nerve saying it!I was stunned.... I was not expecting that what so ever. I said nothing.The guy serving me shrugged his shoulders and said ‘sorry I’m just the server.’I was so embarrassed, the way she walked round and spoke to me, then came back for a second input when I had not even been talking to her was absolutely unbelievable.If she was young I would put it down to inexperience, but she was old, so you think she would have some manners and know what customer service is.I mean it was 60p, it’s not like I ate a whole meal then complained about it after demanding a refund- because that is how she treated me.I now wish I did call them over, at least if they were rude to me it would have been in private, not in front of everyone sat at their tables.I have to say I left feeling very upset, my sister asked if I was okay, I replied no, that was completely unacceptable, I was definitely shocked, it’s not okay that she did that, I will not be returning ever again.I wanted to write an email of complaint, for the managers to watch the CCTV as the camera was just by us, but there is no email address-go figure.Since my experience I have told quite a few people, someone made a very valid point ‘Why would she put two shots in, if you only asked for one?Do you know what, if she had put two shots in, I would have complained about it being too sweet, so the stupid woman was clearly lying!Unless..... she did do a drink like that, it just didn’t get served to me, who knows, but at least I wasn’t rude about the situation.To anyone looking to go here, if you question something, be aware you will get treated badly for it and they will all chat about it in front of you.I suggest another cafe 100%I mean there are enough out there why settle for vile customer service!

Visited today with work colleagues. They couldn’t cope with a large group (10 people) long wait for food and when it arrived some of the orders wrong. I sent my order back only to be returned with cold over cooked food that had already been returned once before. After complaining about the food and service, which fell on deaf ears, they still had the cheek to change me for the food .. no way to run a business ! certainly won’t be going back..

Great food, great service, excellent coffee and very reasonable prices. The Cousins on a UK holiday and this is first breakfast of the trip. Set high standards that will be hard to beat. Will be back before we fly home to Vietnam. Highly recommend!!

As ever, best value for money for miles in elegant surroundings and good staff. Where else can you get a full English breakfast of egg, bacon, sausage etc etc plus coffee and toast for around £6. And newspapers to boot tho regrettably no Telegraph!!

Second visit to the Waterhouse Cafe. First visit last year turned out to be a bit of a disaster due to them holding some sort of breakfast party for a large group which resulted in waiting over an hour for our food.Thought we’d give it another chance, but unfortunately things weren’t much better.We sat down and were quickly seen by a disinterested young girl who asked us what drinks we wanted (no hello, good morning etc).Ordered these, and then she returned some time later to take our food order. After having placed the order, she then said in passing as she was walking off, that it would be about 30 mins wait for food. Not sure why she didn’t mention this at the very beginning when we sat down, as having now ordered, it would have been very awkward for us to then say we didn’t want food given the wait time.Now confusingly, the place was less than half full. I’m not sure if there was specific cause for the delay on food on the day, but I struggle to see how it could possibly take that long to prepare our meals given how quiet it was. I can only imagine the catastrophe that awaits when the place is near or at capacity. What made it worse was the sheer number of staff just standing around doing nothing (could they not divert some resource to help out in the kitchen where needed?)Food eventually arrived and was ok at best. Breakfast was dumped on the plate with the eggs covering up the paltry (4?) portion of mushrooms, 3 inch sausage and soggy hash brown. My partners sandwich looked nice, but the garnish was just thrown on the plate for effect more than anything.We had no drinks with our food as we’d finished those 35 mins earlier and weren’t offered another.Overall, disappointing. The cafe itself is bright and airy, but the issues with the service and food just spoilt the visit for us. Unlikely to visit again

I had my 50th birthday party on Saturday evening. What a fantastic evening we had. All the staff were amazing from booking the event to the end of the evening they went out of their way to ensure I had a fabulous time. The staff were so attentive my guests were so well looked after. They did everything for me and made sure I had the best party! I would highly recommend it for a venue for a party! Visited with friends, some had a lunch, some a late breakfast. I had the big one which came with toast and a large cup of coffee all for £7.25. Quick and friendly service too.

I'm sitting here thinking in a world of Costa's and Starbucks how pleasant to be served at your table by friendly helpful, attentive people, just a coffee and sandwich today but served quick and all tasty,

lots if young staff however not the quickest of the mark in serving your table, all seem to be hanging around chatting amongst themselves and not concentrating on their customers.

Visited the cafe for a breakfast and a coffee, food was ok but the coffee "latte but not a latte" was worse than poor the whole place needs some tlc and the staff need to smile

Plenty of friendly staff, however, the coffee was dreadful and the goats cheese salad was something out of the 70’s iceberg lettuce, cucumber and tomoato plus the chopped up goats cheese. Couldn’t eat it, was asked if it was ok and explained it was the most boring salad I’d ever seen. ‘Oh’ was the reply. On the plus side the company was good. Paid for my non eaten salad and my untouched coffee and picked up a sandwich and coffee from the petrol garage which was actually very nice.

Went to the Waterhouse Cafe for a private party last night, great venue but more importantly the staff were fantastic especially the two lovely ladies meeting and greeting guests as we arrived. Thanks ladies you were both brilliant and genuinely couldn’t have done more for us to ensure the party was a success

Hadn’t been there for a while so thought we should pay a visit. When we Arrived the place looked fairly busy when we came in. We were told before we ordered that it may be a longer wait for food which we were happy with. Some time has passed and we were brought 2 breakfasts which were incorrect so we offered a complimentary coffee as we had to wait longer, however when we got the correct breakfast and it was time to leave we were told we don’t have to pay so we were happy with that and despite everything we will return

Lovely place with great food and service. I had salmon and cheese croissant and luxury hot chocolate for breakfast and i felt utterly spoilt :) will definitely be there again for the superb food quality.

I've been coming to the Waterhouse Café for years with various family members, and having not been for a few months, went today with my dad for his birthday. (It's his favourite local hang-out).

Went for lunch with grandkids during half term, have been meaning to visit for some time, as the cafe always seems to be busy. Good choice on the menu all the usual snacky offerings plus burgers breakfast etc. Efficiently served by the friendly staff, the food was very good and the prices sensible, I had ham egg and chips which was a very generous portion. My only comment was that it was so cold in the dinning room, I had to keep my coat on.

The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. The service is brilliant and the food always well presented and cooked from fresh. The Waterhouse club sandwich the best! The tea is always hot and stays hot for ages which I love .

This is a spacious cafe with a varied menu selection. We often come go to the cafe for Saturday brunch. The food is excellent, cooked well and good value. We highly recommend the breakfasts, the burgers are delicious, and my daughter loves the deep fried prawns or the chicken from the kids menu.

First time experience of this lovely, lively restaurant and hopefully it will not be the last. Plenty of variety on the Menu and all served in a welcoming way. All freshly prepared so worth a bit of a wait. Children,workers,pensioners,(like me),something to suit everyone's' pallet. What a great find. Parking may be a little difficult but free outside for 2 hrs.

What a transformation from an Ironmonger's to a warm friendly and spacious cafe serving the most delicious food and variety of drinks..with table service plus take away from very friendly staff and best of all everything is FRESHLY PREPARED

At first I thought it was a gardening shop because the exterior is deceptive. So glad I ventured inside. Clean interior. Friendly staff. Lovely food at good prices. My husband and I were really hungry this morning and would usually drive from Lower Kingswood to Coulsdon Buzz Cafe or Banstead Caffe Italia for our favourite breakfasts. But today we decided to check out the breakfast at the Waterhouse Cafe.

Ate breakfast here, there is a good selection from bacon butties to the full Monty with steak. Prices are good and the food quality good. Only minor complaint is the baked beans could of been warmer. The staff are attentive and cheerful, overall a good breakfast. The menu also had plenty of non breakfast items, e.g. sandwiches, jacket potatoes.

Popped in for a spot of lunch after doing some business in town.

Visited here a few times recently for breakfast. A good menu with a wide selection for breakfast, and lunch etc. Great staff very attentive and eager to make your visit a pleasant one. I go here during school holidays with my dad, generally for breakfast. It always has a nice buzz, great service and lovely food.It's such a great community vibe in the café without being one of those places that everyone turns to look when a newbie walks in.Looking forward to my next visit already.

We have visited many times in the past. Following a family walk yesterday six of us dropped in for breakfast only to be told that as a party of six or more there would 10% surcharge. We were given one breakfast that we hadn't ordered and there was a mistake in our drinks order, when my husband went to pay the extra breakfast had been added to the bill, he pointed this out and the lady argued that we'd ordered it, he pointed out that six people wouldn't want seven breakfasts .... Sadly the friendly, welcoming atmosphere of the past has gone ... We won't be visiting again .

We come here regularly for breakfast at the weekends. Food is good, staff are friendly and there is always a great atmosphere. If you haven't visited you really should give it a try.

Best breakfast place where the food are not oily and look healthy. I love the cosy atmosphere and cleanliness. Friendly people eating here. Price is reasonable and food is value for this money . I never miss this cafe when I am looking for a real English breakfast except they don't serve black pudding.

Good value. Excellent food. Fab atmosphere. We are constant visitors and have also had a number of private functions there too which have been great.

This place is on our doorstep, yet I've only been for a couple of coffees until a couple of weeks ago. I'm not the type of person to go to coffee bars as I think they are a rip off. Before you know a piece of cake and cup of coffee costs £5. On this occasion we ate lunch. It's not a fancy restaurant, but it is a high end cafe which plenty of choice and good value. All day breakfast in exceptional. The place is buzzing every day of the week. The staff were lovely. We went there with our grandchildren ages 16 months, 22 months and just 3 years, plus 4 adults. Even though it was a Saturday nearly 2pm we happen to arrive as a large table was vacated. (Parking was difficult that day). All other tables were busy. There is also a section of sofas and coffee tables for those wanting coffee/cake and a chat. You cannot take a dog in, but that is fine by me. My daughter went back again last week, enjoying lunch again. Definitely recommend if in the area. Kingswood is a village with a parade of shops, 4 of which are eateries. Parking is only on the street which can be very busy. (Only the pub has its own parking.)

Spacious and light interior with a good welcome. The breakfast menu was extensive - you could pretty much have anything you liked - and good value for money. Great coffee and orange juice. We will definitely come here again.

The cappuchino was good, the waterhouse breakfast was poor. One burnt slice of bacon, undercooked sausage. Lots of toast. Service was very good and the staff are very pleasant. There's not a lot of places in kingswood so it doesn't have any competition.

Nice cafe with friendly staff and ok food which is reasonably priced. Only thing I would say is there seems to be a lot of rich kids who dine there and sit looking down their nose at the other customers while dressed in the designer gear mummy and daddy provide, which can be a bit off-putting! I guess that's kingswood for you.

The staff here were out of this world helpful and thoughtful. I'm vegan and thought I'd have to struggle, instead I was presented with a menu of choices. Loved it.

Came here with my partner for brunch as we had noticed it was always busy when coming and going from Kingswood train station (2 minute walk away). Nice cafe with a small seating area outside, good menu with plenty of variety. Found the younger members of staff to be friendlier than the older ones. Overall nice place with good food.

I went with some intrepidation because of the recent reviews but there was no need. The service was prompt, the Special breakfast was excellent and the size of the tea cup was huge. Very good value for money. However I hope this review doesn't mean the cafe will be full when I next go!

I always thought that it looked lovely from outside but it doesn't live up to it. There were 3 of use for lunch and each of our meals were brought out at different times, plus my daughters salad that should have accompanied her her lunch took another 5 minutes to get to her. My breaded chicken was over cooked and dry and the salad to my daughters meal was extremely poor. Okay, it doesn't cost much but that isn't an excuse to serve up unpalatable food. If you just want a cuppa, coffee etc or maybe a toasted sandwich your okay. As it is the only cafe around for a few miles I think this is why it does a business. Also toilets aren't all that.

Service was very slow, toast with marmalade arrived with jam. Scrambled eggs with bacon arrived within a couple of minutes of ordering. The bacon had been pre cooked and then reheated so had white gunk all over it and dreadful texture. The egg was inedible......not sure if they used pre scrambled egg from a carton but they had no taste or colour.At no point did anyone ask why I hadn't eaten my food.Couldn't be bothered to complain just won't return.How do places like this survive?

I had visited before and had a very normal meal, as would befit the low prices of a cafe. I went back this weekend and was baffled by the seemingly hopeless staff which lead to us waiting 20 minutes for a cup of tea and our orders getting a little confused and at no point did any one apologise for this. When it came to paying the bill, I asked a particularly hopeless waitress (to whom I had asked questions to earlier in the meal and who consequently stood around giggling with the other waitresses) if we could split the bill between the two couples in our group. Oddly enough, she went to go ask if this was possible and then after 10 minutes or so we went up to the till ourselves. It then turned out that this girl hadn't even asked in the first place. When we eventually spoke to someone they said to us,"We are really busy, so can one of you pay and then split it between yourselves" To which I replied no, and looked around at a half empty cafe. It was incredibly odd.After generously allowing us to split the bill which we had already worked out ourselves, the first hopeless waitress couldn't even operate a card machine to make matters worse. It was all quite a stressful experience as we felt on edge after little things going wrong. Some of the staff were lovely, just not the ones we had the most contact with unfortunately.

We have a quick lunch here very often. The food is simple and freshly prepared and good value . Staff are always nice. It can get busy so get there in good time !

This is a lovely bright and airy cafe which is always popular, especially with my family. We had a superb breakfast here - at around £5 for a full house including a coffee or tea this is great value for money and service always comes with a smile. Highly recommended!

Lovely place, one thing that puzzles me though is although their menu is extensive in terms of sandwiches and lunch options, I don't understand why they don't serve poached eggs! I've asked a few times when I've been there and am always told they don't do poached eggs? So unusual! Also it would be great to see pancakes on the menu.

Had heard such good reviews so maybe expectations were high. On arrival, did think a lovely atmosphere and was greeted by friendly staff. Just that the service was so slow from placing order, to one meal arriving & having to chase for the two others. Waiting on extra tea then having to remind. Not all staff able to take orders?!? Wasn't that busy so not sure on reason. Will return as was excellent value & sure just a blip.
