This is a Wetherspoons. But with a twist, it's a beautiful building. Stunning to look at and a pleasure to stand in. The staff are great, from security to bar, pleasant, courteous and professional. Put your prejudice aside and visit.

Beautiful building, wetherspoons menu nicely cooked and good prices. Pint of cider, 2 coffees a side plate, and 3 main meals £44. It was very busy. It was a Sat evening but it was full. Pre booking it will be easier.

Amazing building but the teenage staff who don't want to be here and hate their job should just go home...they greatly let you and the other staff down!

The building is beautiful, characterful and nice and warm until the outside doors were hooked open, then freezing. Beer was warm (was it filled into a hot glass straight from a dishwasher?) Thought food was good value and served hot, but then saw a staff member using mens facilities and leaving without washing hands. Normally a big 'spoons fan yet I'm not sure I would rush back to this one, unless these things can be managed out.

To all foreigners traveling through English lands: Wetherspoon's are the best food "franchise" you will find in the United Kingdom. Unbeatable prices with a quality that, you can say, becomes like homemade food. Every day they have offers that mean that for 15 pounds per head you can eat more than well. If you are in the area and don't want to spend a lot of time eating, I recommend Wetherspoon without hesitation.

(Visited Sunday 22nd September) Another Wetherspoons I had visited many years ago, however I didn't review previously. I had actually forgotten what a great branch this is. Situated just off the main shopping street and next to the civic hall. Two former relocated Barns, which are now of listed status, make up this pub. On this occasion I ordered a Sticky Korean Fried Chicken Bowl and a pint of Leffe Beer. Total cost = £10.02. I've had the Korean chicken bowl on a number of occasions now and am quite taken with it. Hopefully it will remain on the menu for the longer term. The pint of Leffe arrived within a few minutes of ordering. The food arriving around nine minutes. Although the bowl the food arrived in was smaller than the usual Raman bowls, it was none the less filled with a good quantity of chips and chicken. This branch is in the top #10 of branches I have visited over the years. Highly recommend for reasonably priced food and drinks in a nice setting.

Super value and fabulous atmosphere in the Waterend Barn. It was a very enjoyable evening with friends. My steak meal came with a free drink for just over £15 . There is no table service, but it was easy to order at the bar. There was a bar code on the table, so I possibly could have ordered from the app. The friendly waitress did bring the meals, drinks, and cutlery to our table. I would definitely go back . Like 👌

Very good value food, though it was bland, and we didn’t particularly enjoy it, for the money it was ok. The staff were friendly and helpful, however the cutlery was really dirty. We were a group of 10, and 8/10 Forks had dried food on them and they were all sticky. We asked for these to be changed and the new ones weren’t much better. The knives also were also very dirty. Kind of ruined our appetites to be honest, they didn’t look like they’d been washed at all from the previous people who used them. Also worth noting there is no onsite parking, though there is a pay and display multi-storey about 5 minutes walk away

Like many Wetherspoons, this one offers an impressive building in which to dine. Despite its formula aimed at keeping prices low, yet again this building (an old and restored barn) doesn't disappoint and offers character, appointed with it's fairly standard across-the-board furnishing. Most of all, this pub is located in the heart of the affluent St Alban's, just off the high street. Service, food and drink are all quite good, not gastro-pub quality but very pleasant, considering they are so price-sensitive. I would come here again.

My children and I visit often and always find the Waterend barn a clean and friendly place to be and the food is lovely. Yesterday I had an accident in the highstreet and cut my finger quite badly. I walked into the waterend barn and spoken to a lady I think was a supervisor/manager. She had shoulder length brown hair. She instantly stopped, found the first aid kit and bandaged me up. Although it only took a few moments, it meant a lot as I can become quite faint and unwell at the sight of blood and I had my young children with me. I'm sorry I don't know your name but thank you!

We love this place for our Saturday brunches - it’s a really stunning building and doesn’t feel like a normal Spoons. The food is perfect, and while there’s always one grumpy waitress (lady who doesn’t seem to like leaving a perch in front of the bar and gets in a grouch when she has to stagger to tables), everyone else is a dream. Also, the outside beer garden area is a real treat on a sunny day.

If I could rate it 0 stars I would. The woman security guard who was at the toilets last night was probably one of the nastiest people I’ve ever met - she needs to be fired. She discriminated against one of my transgender woman friends and kicked her out whilst she was waiting for us outside of the toilets, and when she was visibly upset she continued to be rude and make sly comments about it. Horrible experience.

Possibly the flagship pub of the Wetherspoon empire. A genuine old medieval barn that was transplanted from the local countryside by the previous owner and then beautifully transformed into a restaurant. Wetherspoon just had to spend a lot of money to renew and refurbish it which they did in their usual clever fashion. Food and drink is the usual Wetherspoons but none the worse for all that. Excellent value, mostly young but willing staff so it is usually a pleasant experience topped off with a stunning ambience in the two dining rooms. We visit it often, usually at lunch time. Update: Still just as good on our visit yesterday, (21 Feb 2023)

Went with a party for the 3 course Christmas meal. Specified vegan beforehand but they forgot that part, kind of important for me. Tomato and pepper soup was pretty good, given dairy butter with bread though. Had the vegetable wellington as a main which was good, but the rest was lacking, sprouts, half a single carrot (yes really) and yorkshire pudding for £33.50, absolutely outrageous. It turns out the vegan option (which I was glad to see on the menu) was just the removal of the yorkshire pudding, but they gave me one anyway, I had to get them to check if it was vegan (it wasn't) so that was nice. No cauliflower, parsnips, veg, nothing extra, a seriously boring roast! Desert was nice, trillionaire chocolate cake thing, apparently this was vegan so I'm glad I got to eat a dessert. Absolutely insane price considering the anemic main course, and no alternatives in the main for vegan diets (aquafaba as an egg replacement for yorkshire puddings fyi). Colleagues weren't particularly impressed either as far as I recall, overall pretty mid, wouldn't recommend.
