Watan Afghani BBQ Restaurant in Ealing

Worst service, terrible barbecue. Too expensive. We went for a birthday dinner. Food was served late, it was cold barbecue and above all staff refused to accept that there had been lack in service quality. I would never go to this place again.

Not great experience we were served with a piece of lamb that looked like someone had already eaten it . Bern here before no issues but on this occasion very poor service will not recommend . Food prices gone up since they moved to new premises and service poor . High turnover of staff who are not attentive. Wait was very long then to be served with please see below …

Great place to eat and a fine restaurant. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We were served by Imran and Bilal who made our experience even better. Definitely will go back.

They have lost their taste. Its not worthy for the food they charge. Very expensive. They make us wait for 20 minutes for chapli kebab and then 30 an hour for a baby chicken karahai which was £27 and in their menue they didn’t mentioned.

Thought we would give this place a try earlier today for lunch on a bank holiday, big mistake. Ordered Masala fish, whatever was underneath, was covered with capsicums and onions. Asked if the fish was like Cod, confirmed yes it was. However in over 40 years, I have never tasted or seen Masala fish like this. Awful. Left the dish, but still got charged for it. Mixed kebab were mediocre. Lamb gosht also mediocre. Starters & main course arrived at the same time. ?? One plate each given to be used for both starters and main course !!! Putting it mildly disjointed from start to finish. Lack of service training, and awareness on how to deal with customers, who are expected to pay premium prices for a well below par service & food. Ended up going to another less glitzy establishment, and had a lovely meal.

Beautiful decor and friendly staff. Food was tasty and we didn’t need to wait longer than 10-15 mins for our mains. Full of flavour. We had the Karahi chicken and reshmi kebab, both very good. We also had paya, which was tasty too but a bit on the spicy side if you have a sensitive palate. Abdul at the front desk was very helpful and friendly from the moment we walked in. Will definitely plan to come back.

Very fresh and nice food, all came out hot with the meat being cooked directly from the kitchen next to the seating area. Only downside is the staff don’t have any customer service skills or people skills. Several dishes that we ordered were not brought to our table until we repeatedly asked, and we must’ve requested the bill 5 times before getting up and paying at the till. They also give you a bottle of water for the table, then add £2.50 to your bill to pay for it - despite not ordering it in the first place. And then try and take the bottle when cleaning your table irrespective if it’s still full. Would return for the food, but the customer service is extremely poor.

Very good taste and very great customer service aswell. Everything was well cooked and fresh. We had their pulao and special handi with kebabs and it was really amazing.highly recommended

Super excellent Standards of fresh food and very succulent meats - we enjoy coming here - it is worth the money and the trip. Afghan grills are the best and mango lassi is good quality silky smooth

We ordered the mix grill, lamb plawal and karahi gosht. Mixed grill arrived almost immediately, excellent food and great service.

Shameless staff booked in advance for 5:45pm for my son’s birthday when we got to the restaurant was told that they had given our table to someone else. I said that was unacceptable I had booked in advance, and it’s Ramadan how can they do that. I was pushed to the ground my son and daughter were both punched. The manager was the instigator of the assault, shameless shameless.

I had a wonderful dining experience at Watan restaurant The food was absolutely delicious, and the flavors were fantastic. I could tell that they use quality ingredients in their dishes. The service was top-notch, with the staff being attentive, friendly, and making sure all our needs were met. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance that added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. I highly recommend watan for a memorable dining experience. Can't wait to visit again!

Nice atmosphere food was lovely and service was great. Kashaf was my server and she was attentive and polite. She made sure our food was served hot and on time.

This place can be amazing if the owner allows alcohol to be served on the premises. I do believe food that is claimed to be this exciting does wonders with beer or wine. Surely now is the time to relax any taboos regarding alcohol.

We were pleased to a table as the last couple of times this restaurant had been full! Even though it was a busy Saturday night, we had excellent and prompt service by Farnaz. The food was amazing - really tasty and the best Chicken Tikka Kebabs I've eaten. We then tried the Charsi Chicken Karahi and they kindly turned down the chilli! Looking forward to going back with the family and enjoying more of this really interesting cuisine.

We were a group of about 15 people. Our overall experience was mixed. The food was good. We ordered the mixed grill and the charsi chicken karahi. The grill at £32 is expensive for what it includes. Not a the grilled items were tasty either. I would suggest ordering separate grilled items like chops, malai chicken etc rather than the mixed grill. Surprisingly, the karahi portion for a full karahi was on the smallish side as well but at £27 acceptable. We asked for tap water and were told that the water in the taps is contaminated for some reason and we should get some bottled water which we did - an obvious lie because they would have to shut down the business if indeed the water was contaminated. Service was very slow with non-attentive staff. Had to ask for drinking glasses 3 times before we were given some disposables. Forks and spoon took a while and the mixed grills were served without any naan which took another 5 minutes. The bottles of sauces on the tables were sticky and sickeningly dirty. There was a pile of used dishes on the floor that the staff had not bothered me to clear up because they were busy at the time. We almost left the restaurant as it looked very unhygienic. Typical Asian establishment that has compromised on cleanliness because they are now a successful business - such a shame.

We whent for dinner the food was amazing but the service was horrible, we ordered a water bottle which was £2.50 but we were charged for 2 soft drinks. When we queried we were told that the water cost the same price as 2 drinks. Not even apologised for making an error. One of the waitress was so rude roling her eyes when we asked the price for water.

Average food, nothing unique. We ordered a portion of chicken nuggets for my toddler and it cost £7 for 5 pieces, absolutely extortionate. Lamb biryani whilst it was written in the description on the bone. However, there was more bone in our portion than meat so definitely not worth it and bland. Seating very nice and good atmosphere but the food an absolute let down.

Made the terrible mistake of stopping off in Southall on a Saturday evening on way out of London. The roads were gridlocked as usual. The thing that saved the day was the great bbq meal at Watan. It was packed with locals and their tables were heaving with great food. We ate far too much and it was all very good. Atmosphere was chaotic, noisy and friendly.
