Wasabi Sushi & Bento in Birmingham

I use this place whenever I visit Birmingham by my self or with my children. There is always such amazing choice of sushi boxes and hot food. Usually we grab a large sushi box to go and we have never had a bad experience. Eating is is abit basic as its throw away packages but its clean has it can be if customers throw away their packaging wich doesn't always happen.

The servant did not serve us the drink and sushi for our takeaway to the train, only the ramen. What a waste of money for us. Management please do something about it. This is so disappointing.

asked for gluten free soy sauce at the till and they gave me normal soy sauce, usually i don’t have an issue with this so i ate it without question and then realised it contains wheat

I've been their customer for ages. I always get some sushi sets to take away for my kids, and they all love it.

Me and my girlfriends go here all the time for a quick bite while shopping - or at the end of a night out. If you like sushi, this place is the best for value for quality, beating out supermarket sushi; as well as superior value for money compared to higher-end sushi places like yo sushi, for example. A little tip: about 30 mins before closing they mark all their food at half price! This offer is great, one I've taken advantage of many times, often getting extra sushi or bentos to eat on the train home and for lunch the next day at my own discretion with no issues in quality overnight so far. You can dine in and people watch in the station or takeaway (their boxes travel well compared to some other sushi I find).

Katsu curries were dry, not enough of curry and it was all soaked up in rice already. Tempura prawn sushi’s looked tired, maybe old. And sauce that comes with gyozas tasted just like vinegar, not too appetising. Teriyaki salmon rice box also didn’t look fresh, cucumbers were oldish

Address was located in the wrong place but delivery guy was really understanding

My delivery guy was really sweet and understanding as my address didn’t show up correctly on the map. But he didn’t complain at all and was super nice about it even though I felt so bad. I wish I could give him a tip now for such great customer service!

Student discount. And both cold and hot food. Easily fills you up. And it's my favourite sushi place for everyday sushi.

Driver has not given me my food

I wanted to eat sushi today, and while I was passing by new street station, I have decided to visit Wasabi new street. I was coming from work, and was expecting to have a great experience but rather it was the opposite.This was my first time and it is definitely the last. The man at the counter named Bishal was not welcoming at all. When I asked questions, he seemed very bothered and when he answered, he would not even speak loud enough so I can hear him. He was very cold and not smiling at all. I first ask if the chicken was halal,he said no which was fine as I can go for the vegetarian option. However, he did not offer any alternative options, he just said no. I had to go myself look for the vegetarian options, vegan or other. I read the labels on the boxes one by one to see which ones don’t contain meat. Then, when I finally selected the dishes I wanted, I asked if the sauces were included in the boxes, he said no. I saw him put one in the bag. Then, he asked me if I needed more and I said yes. However, as I did not see him adding more sauces in the bag, I asked if he added them or if they come as an option so I can buy them. He responded with a cold voice”I have already added many”. Ok, at that moment, I got very upset, took my bag and left. I just arrived at home, opened my bag and I saw two small bags of sauces. I work myself in the hospitality sector and I have to say the service was very poor. If you plan to visit the shop for the first time, be ready to get no support, no smile, no I.

Sushi, miso, gyozas, all great. Location's a bit overwhelming with the crowd of the train station so I usually order takeaway or online. Makes my day everytime I have a good meal here.

I ordered the Korean bbq beef ramen and was very disappointed the image on the menu is very misleading the beef was not barbecue flavour and there were 3 tiny thin slices like the one in the photo. The ramen was flavourless and there were nowhere near as many noodles as shown in the image on the menu. Couldnt get a refund don’t get scammed

Decent, but the vegan avocado hosomaki are excellent! Please introduce further plant-based options beyond this and the noodles, dumplings and soups. It is a noisy train station, so it's just a shame not to have quiet corners to sit, eat and relax.

Went to wasabi to grab some sushi, having certain allergies eating at new places is always a problem for me but the server at the till harry made an effort to come out of the till when I asked about allergen information and shown me the options which was suitable for me. Top service which you usually don’t get from fast food places. The food was amazing and was topped off by a great service. Definitely will visit again !

Platforms 8 and 9 smell really bad because of the restaurant's abuse of vinegar

Overcharged me £10. Said they refunded me but that the printer wasn't working. Have contacted customer service since, as no refund has been received, but they are ghosting me. Charging back through the bank.

First time eating Wasabi food, I grabbed some sushi after work to take home, vegan yasai dragon rolls. Really nice 😊

Delivery driver rang and spoke to me for all of a couple of seconds. I left a delivery note with my order and was waiting the other side of the building. He then rang me again to see that I was standing in the spot that I said I would be in and deliver wasn’t happy.

Lovely as always, refreshing and great vegetarian options. My favourites are the vegan sushi selection and the pink Mochi. Personally I like to have it as a takeaway dish as the grand central can be a bit much at times.

Shelves were empty upon opening. When returning later, place got really busy. Nice food, although atmosphere is really busy and not very customer oriented service. Available vegan and dietary options.

I recently visited Wasabi Sushi Bar on Birmingham New Street and had a wonderful experience. The modern decor and lively atmosphere made it a great place to enjoy a meal.

It's the third time i order online and every time i barely get any soy sauce. How can you order 2 boxes and only have one sache of soy sauce. Very incompetent staff.

I got a bento box with rice, chicken, and curry sauce, which tasted terrible. The curry sauce tasted like a tantalizingly bad sauce that assaulted my taste buds, and the chicken was very hard and stale. It came apart in strands so it didn’t even look like chicken. I did wait to eat my meal after purchasing it, but it was still hot so I don’t think that was the issue. I’ve gotten bento boxes at other places that were good, so I probably just picked the wrong box. On the plus side, the employees were really nice and I got a caramel bar that tasted exquisite, making up for the disappoint of a box I ate for dinner. I gave this Wasabi Sushi and Bento one star because the box I got tasted horrible.

Vegan sushi was nice and friendly staff

The reason why I am giving this 3 stars is that they removed my favourite sushi meal and replaced it with 'fancier' sushi dishes which didn't even taste like it. But there are other stuff I have tried and they were delicious but it still won't make up for it

I am only marking 1 as I cant put no stars!!! Do Not eat here! we have just found a hair in the raman and took it back to the counter where Binish and his other colleagues found it really funny! the staff gathered all pointing out the hair and each laughing. Whilst giving me a refund, that I had to insist on, the Assistant manager Abh and Binish found it really funny chatting away in another language looking up at me and laughing. The Assistant manage refused to give a contact for complaints and refused to give me staff names. I have reported them to food Hygiene

Was really excited to find a Wasabi chain in Birmingham, I got a big salmon platter and unfortunately I found parasites in my sushi. Would never usually post a bad review but this is genuinely unsafe and should be looked into. I had to stop eating halfway through once I discovered a big one and found many more in the remaining sushi. Don't know how many I've eaten and very worried about my health now.

Sushi is alright, but the price for dining in is ridiculous. From a platter that cost £34.95 for taking out, it cost £41.95 for dining in. There is space to sit though, and quite convenient.

14/12/23 Just been here for my first time besides passing it a few odd times over the years. I wish I had tried it sooner! You can select what you'd like from an array of prepared hot and cold dishes on the shelves. They have a large selection, from ramen to bento, sides, starters and desserts. They also have a good selection in Vegan and Vegetarian dishes. They have Gyōzas, Chicken wings, Ramen boxes, Katsu Chicken & Sweet Chilli Chicken with Rice and Salad boxes, Vegan and Fish Sushi boxes and different Mochi, also Drinks, Snacks and Sachets of seasoning/sauces. You're not short for selection at all and I found the choices to all be very enjoyable. I personally went with a quick meal of Sweet Chilli Chicken box and Strawberry Cheesecake Mochi - which were absolutely delicious and fantastic, all eaten within 10 minutes (totalled to £11.60). Every bite made me crave more! They have a great seating are to eat on in, which is spacious, but you can also take out. Service was kind, polite and on point. Really made my experience and made me smile, comfortably. Really genuine people, added a cherry on top sort of vibe. I am really happy to of stopped here today, I genuinely can't wait to come back and try more! Thank you everyone here at Wasabi.

Food tasted like it had been left out for days

Brilliant varieties of food you can buy really great place.

Delivery driver had no heat bag so food was lukewarm warm when delivered, so had to reheat back in microwave. No utensils, no fork?spoon what do we use our hands?

They’ve stopped doing the best curry, the chicken curry bento. So annoying as that was the only one I liked.

Great food, but i had to eat it with my hands because the employees cant even remember to put fork in the bag....

i love their food! mix of spicy, sweet and salty. great selection of hot and cold food. my go to every time i visit brummy or london. conveniently placed in the new street train station - however can get quite loud. just about enough seating could do with a bit more comfy seating. staff are fast and friendly. snacks, drinks and are a tad overpriced - mains are avaragely priced. *video from london but food is the same*

I like how the snacks (like onigiri seaweed salad) can be small, and not always all together with other things, which saves money. Staff were also very nice and generous by happily showing you where to get the items you want if you’re unsure :D

Well place on the ground floor of grand Central mall, and in between the two ticket gantries and platform entrances. This fast food Japanese restaurant serves take away and dine in. The place is spacious and not crammed. Prices are reasonable. They serve sushi bentos, noodle, snacks and drinks. The sushi is fresh and of fairly good standard. Bentos come with wasabi, soya sauce satchets together with chopsticks and plastic container for dipping the sauces

I can personally recommend Wasabi, perfect for on the go, nutritious, healthy food. The staff have always been very helpful and friendly. I love the wide range of vegan options and healthy options you can choose here.

This used to be a great place for a decently priced filling meal. I’ve now noticed the portion sizes have reduced (I usually have a tofu curry with rice) yet the prices are higher. After eating here yesterday I noticed both the rice and tofu curry is nearly half of what it used to be and it is now a waste of money. Don’t know why there’s such a high extra charge for eating in. I used to visit a lot but I won’t be from now on.

Best sushi I have had. I haven't ventured too far with where I get it. But if you're like me I don't mind buying it from a chain, Wasabi is the best place to get it. The bento boxes aren't too bad either if you want a set meal for lunch. But the sushi is the star of the show . The only complaint is that I was on a trip to London this week and the small box of 10 peices of salmon sushi was £3.75 to take out. This is in London which I thought would be more expensive. Went to this one in Birmingham on the way home to get some for dinner and found that the same box was £4.75 in Birmingham that's over 20% more. Which is just. A pound more but me being a student I don't have a fat lot of money and when a price is higher than I've seen it before it puts a sour taste in my mouth. I assume everything else was slightly more expensive too. Considering I was just in London and it was cheaper there I was quite surprised. Overall good but you can get it cheaper depending on where you go.

You can find daily fresh food varieties. You can find a variety of dishes such as the legal salmon avocado hosomaki. There are open sitting areas. Sometimes there can be a lot of sun reflection. medium density venue. You can have a pleasant meal.

First time trying, the chicken Katsu was soooo good

Had some spicy korean chicken and a bento with fried noodles, curry and fried pumpkin. The curry - noodles ratio was off and I had way too much curry sauce, which was quite salty. The chicken was very spicy... The only good thing was I got 50%off as they were about to close. Not sure if I want to pay regular price considering the quality tbh..

Food was microwave meal level quality Barely any chicken in the katsu and barely any flavour. Both meals were close to cold on arrival. Not worth the money given the quality of the food

Have order some chicken mono 🥟 thing, but inside was nothing which I found too expensive and no value for money. Rice bowl with sweet chilli sauce was ok again found little expensive side.

I love sushi but in this place they have everything but nice sushi, I went and grabed some for my children and when I've open the box a smell hit me and the sushi itself when I've picked it up with my fingers was sticky like when the rice is over cooked.Because i was on the shop floor still i went and asked the stuff for a refund as i could'nt serve that to my children they've been very rude and agressive to me.Looked like on my money I should've eat dumped food. Bad!!!!! That is very bad!

Really bad.. The food tasted like it had been kept in the fridge for quite some time. It was cold and no sauce as I asked. Also the meat was missing as well. The staff was a bit rude, talking to me like they were above everyone.

I recently visited Wasabi for some sushi and overall, I had a good experience. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive. However, I was disappointed to find out that there was an extra charge of £2 just for sitting inside. I didn't see any reason for this extra fee. Especially on a busy day, when there were not even that many seats available, it seemed like an unnecessary expense. I would love to know what the £2 fee is going towards, as it wasn't clear from the staff. While it didn't ruin my experience, I think it's worth mentioning in this review, as it might be a turn-off for other customers. Overall, if you're looking for great sushi, Wasabi is definitely worth a visit. Just be aware of the extra charge if you plan on sitting inside.

Just seen the TikTok and came here. We don't know the whole story of what happened, you people should know that you must review this place only if you ate here. Maybe the guy filming was rude to them before? Let's stop being so hateful
