Wasabi Sushi & Bento in Cambridge

Paid to eat in but was not given a tray so it loses one star. Great fresh sushi.

Great value for money. Food is good service good. Staff could smile from time to time. I'm there 3 times a week they smile once a month. 🙂

You're only going here if you're just arriving from the station or need a quick bite before catching a train. Food is just okay; Itsu wipes the floor with this place with regards to quality. Price wise, Wasabi is on the pricier side for the quality of food. Most staff seemed perpetually miserable; maybe when customers place an order, you could at least feign a small smile? The male staff member was very kind and looked like a clone of Joe Wicks! 😂

Excellent service but sadly my choice of Korean BBQ Beef Ramen was bland (although hot and with nice crunchy veg). However, it earned an additional taste part way through, courtesy of the staff member who was smoking outside the front door - the smell of which wafted in to add to the “taste”.

Wasn’t really that impressed with the overall experience. Starting from the customer service to the actual meals tasting a little off, not sure if the recipes have been renewed over the months but the food doesn’t taste the same as it once used to. Full on flavour which isn’t always the best. I would always go and get the Katsu Chicken and absolutely loved it but couple times I’ve tried it over the space of weeks, it’s not been the same. The sauce has changed to the point where I’m really not a fan of it and I prefer ‘Kineya’, even though it’s a little more pricey.

I love wasabi because it's cheap but amazing quality, with tons of great vegan options. At the moment I can't get enough of the tofu tom yum noodle soup, it's incredible - healthy, delicious, and great value for money! If I lived closer, I'd def get it several times a week! The only complaint I'd make is that they no longer do the individually wrapped inari pouches or any of the other individually wrapped sushi pieces you used to be able to get pre-covid. They reduced their menu during covid and they never re-expanded it! You used to be able to get all kinds of extra bits of sushi for just a pound or two, which was great if you were on a budget/not that hungry, or if you wanted a bit more of one thing. The only way to get the inari pouches now is to buy an entire vegan box, with millions of other things and only 2 inari pouches. If you want loads of inari pouches but not all the other stuff, you're out of luck! It's a real pity. Other than that, it's banging.

wasabi used to be my go-to place but the quality of the chicken has gone down so much, it’s tough and inedible now

I often visit Cambridge for business, and I always stop by here to enjoy a warm meal at a reasonable price. Pros: There's a wide selection of dishes, everything is always fresh, and the portion sizes are quite generous. Cons: However, I have encountered sticky tables that weren't cleaned properly. If you're in a hurry to catch a train or simply don't want to search far for a decent place to eat, you won't be disappointed here.

Flavours bounded around in the horizon that was my mouth. The taste the sound the smell!!! The chicken was succulent and I enjoyed every mouthful would recommend.

Regarding space: there are quite a few tables and chairs on site, the area is cleanly decorated, the space is quite small. There is a place to sit and eat in or take away. Can be ordered for local delivery. Service: okay People mostly walk or park their cars outside before coming in to buy. Quality: The food is okay, there are many types of food to choose from

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with a recent experience at one of your establishments. On July 7, 2024, I visited their branch located in Cambridge and, unfortunately, I was a victim of a scam. Upon making my payment, I received change that included a coin that turned out to be counterfeit. As a tourist, I am especially affected by this incident, as I trust reputable establishments, like yours, to maintain the highest standards of integrity and customer service. This fact not only caused me financial inconvenience, but also generated a negative experience that tainted my visit to your city. I hope you understand the seriousness of the situation and take the necessary steps to prevent something similar from happening to another customer in the future.

Although a cool concept of convience, this place is sadly a pending public health hazard. The chicken katsu bowl (which is a hot dish) has raw uncooked carrots sitting in it for at least some time. Normally raw carrots wouldn’t be a problem, but when placed next to cooked meat it’s ripe for cross contamination and bacterial growth.

Buy chicken karage, it’s soggy and wet and I ask whether I should have been charged full price for it dude just says yes and walks off

I enjoyed it here. Good food, fresh, healthy, many vegan and veggie options. Good ventilation. Right by the railway station.

Absolutely terrible found a hair in my food and got food poisoning

Selection on offer alwaus fresh and w we ll stocked, queues kept to a minimum and constantly moving even at busy lunchtime periods. Food quality what you would expect. I didn't dine in so difficult to say about the atmosphere.

Me and my BF where looking for a place to have some nice sushi and sashimi before I catch my train. The sushi were very nice, but felt I could do with a bit more soy sauce, but the girl who served us was very nice and gave us some extra ginger. If you are student it’s worth asking for discount, which is nice. Also there is slight price difference if you eat in, so if you have take away it’s slightly cheaper. In evenings the shelves will be more empty, but we still had some good choices, so we had vegetarian sett and two salmon/prawn sets. Really yummy and not busy at all, plenty of free places to sit down. Good selection of refreshments.

Great food & generally good selection of food. Staff often couldn’t care less about their jobs. Toilet is always gross.

Korean BBQ ramen. Inedibly bland, absurdly over-priced for 3 slices of beef and a miserable mushroom in water.

Very good location nearby the train station. Variety of food to select. The taste is OK.

I ordered two katsu curry for delivery, it looks like they made two meals out of one! There was like half portion of rice/sauce in it! 😤

You Charge extra to sit on p1ss and sh1t staines

Had some sushi and a miso soup, the mochi looked tempting. Good prices. The food wasn't top quality, but that's to await.

Nice branch. Good amount of seating inside and out. The staff cooked a special portion of food that has run out. That was really nice of them.

All portions of chicken bento are half of what they used to be (at best)...and more expensive. Been back twice and portions were spot on. The chicken today in particular was lovely and tender

I have had wasabi katsu many times, however the curry this had a weird stale smell and rice was overcooked. Was very disappointed as we were very hungry and food did not leave upto mark. Korean fried chicken was way too chewy.

Great place to chill out and eat before catching a train! Lovely staff, easy store to navigate and clean tables and seats with plug sockets available. My first time at one of these stores and it won’t be my last!

Very happy with the customer service I received today. The young lady serving me was very polite and helpful. Unfortunately I missed her name but she has a blonde hair and eye catching eye makeup.

Was going to give 3 stars but after seeing the clean up the other the day... Bento we all know how it comes but actually its tasty. Sushi gone down hill. It smells and doesn't look or tastes fresh. Saw really large waste thrown away but they said its due to train strikes. Fair enough. Still think you can separate plastic packets from food to be environmentally conscious. Really isn't that hard.

Poor service experience. Bought their products for 9pounds 5 pennies and given 10pounds and 5 pennies for payment, expecting a 1pound change. Surprisingly, I was rejected using my 5 pennies and yet I was rewarded with 95pennies change.... Wow nice logic Food quality is average, quantity is small. Overall not a priceworthy place to takeaway.

Always one of my top options for food if I have a bit of time at Cambridge station. Very filling curries and lighter sushi sets too, all at a very good price.

Really terrible Sushi! I used to buy sushi there which was really good before. However I tasted it yesterday, think it was not from the same cooker! Sushi rice not well cooked and like plastic, salad with sand (what!?) and most important is the sushi fish smell like outdated. It cost £15 and really can’t accept it!

Be careful with this store and always ask for the receipt. You may experience an interesting computing glitch: got double charged for your food and then been told that there was no record of your order in their system afterward.

I ordered chicken teriyaki with Noodles. It was simply not even edible and absolutely tasteless. I just had 2 bites and now feeling sick.

Super friendly staff, love how they have table/chairs with sockets. Opposite Cambridge station as this is not expensive food, it's perfect to stop by for a quick bite that is actually filling.

The staff at this wasabi are quite rude and there attituted towards me and other customers are quite rude. And the taybles are really dirty and the floor are quite dirty. And the staff needs to be re trained on customer service. And avoid this place. And i whonte be coming back at all. And this wasabi needs to be closed down for a bit to be deep cleaned. and the food dosen’t taste fresh at all at this wasabi.

Was looking forward to Sushi today, travelled one hour 15 minutes but everything bar one item was vegan gave you 2 stars for your vegan range but I did not want vegan .

I bought 6 boxes of sushi today paying 42 pounds. Nigiri smelled like a mud from the pond and I had to spit it out, definitely not fresh this time and may carry health risk. Fish smells like that when it's not refrigerated properly. Wherever it happened, restaurant, production or supplier I think you have a problem. When I bought a sushi in your London restaurant once I vomited all night. I am not going to visit Wasabi restaurant again.

ワサビが日本よりもツーンとくる(笑) 「wasabi」と書かれたパッケージに入ってるのが可愛かった！！ 生サーモンを食べたが腹を下すこともなく、アボカドと醤油は中トロのように感じられ、お米もタイ米ではなく、普通に美味しかった。 お値段は小さい寿司セットなら3ポンドほど、おにぎり一つ２ポンド。自分は７ポンドの「OSAKA BENTOU」を注文。ちゃんと割り箸も付いてきます。綺麗に縦に割れずケバケバになったけど笑 海外の人からすると「これ」が日本食に思ってるんだなーと思いながら、金髪の方々と食べる日本食。たくさんの気付きと感動がありました。 ありがとう！！wasabi！！！

Quick meal, quick service, affordable prices

I wasn’t sure if I was eating chicken or fish, which probably tells you everything you need to know about this meal. What you see here is freezer-grade mystery meat (think a giant wet fish stick), a side of stale rice covered in fried onions, and a container of inexplicably *creamy* sweet and sour sauce. Altogether it proved to be a fairly rancid combination. The only OK part was the edamame. The meal cost £8.50, which you’re better off spending on anything else — or, if you’re really in the mood for it, you can use to purchase 85 frozen fish sticks at the grocery store.

Tasty noodle soup and sushi prepared double quick (handy for the train). Only minus was the toilet which was a bit untidy and dim, I screwed the top of the tap back on for them (found it on the floor).

I could eat from Wasabi every day of the week....

I love Japanese food and this is a great place to eat cheap and tasty Japanese food when you are waiting for a train or coming out of a train and you have some spare time. Wouldn't give it a 5/5 because they miss out on the top quality food. They could also add more dishes but that's just me being picky. Would recommend to come here for a meal

A once in a lifetime experience.

The portions are really massive!

I wanted to pay with Google pay, and the cashier didn't know that the shop allowed max £30 each time to be able to pay using your phone. I had to go to bring an iPhone to try, and finally after a while she called the manager and he split the bill on two, and just then I could pay with Google pay. It was annoying, but finally I got our sushi.

Great vegan options not just fish etc. Recommend tofu curry and vegan salad box.

Run of the mill chain of Japanese style food canteens. Food is nice/ ok, but a little bit pricey. Wouldn’t eat at one of these on a regular basis, but as a treat every now and then, it’s ok. The chicken Katsu curry I had was palatable and did fill me up. The rice that accompanied it was good. Best thing for me was the bubble tea. There’s no three and a half stars so gave it four.

Typical wasabi place with a wide selection. Location was perfect and easy to access. Less seats were available though.

Love this place. Great quality sushi, and lovely hot rice and noodle dishes. Those super large Mochi for dessert.... Delicious. The branch next to Cambridge Train Station does half price at 8:30pm till it closes at 9pm. Perfect for that late night office/train home.

The price labels are wrong and you will find a nice increase at the till. Staff will not honour displayed prices and cannot be bothered to check! .

Today went to get chilli sweet chicken and there wasn't any ready made so they refused to make another one and told me to choose different one that's already there. Bad if you ask me!!!!

Freshness is very important for sushi, but these sushi isn’t fresh and little rough. I was surprised to see that they packed the sushi individually.

I like wasabi and glad they opened in front of station. Quick and easy foods and inexpensive. It always taste ok. You expect what you paid for. The last time when I went there, one of the male staff was pretty rude. He doesn't know what customer service is. Very unkind and unfriendly. I'm so sad wasabi is one of the my favorite but there is a silly service. Hope he will be better anytime soon.

Happy to be able to find decent sushi and japanese food in UK, Cambridge. They have a good range of food from sushi, bento sets and noodle soups at reasonable prices. Do take note that there is additional charge for eating in, so you can choose to take out to save an extra pound or two!

Great good, very new and clean. Comfortable and stylish interior with a massive range of interesting Asian favourites. Service is usually great.

Didn't end up eating here as the selections didn't fit my criteria. Big spacious shop. Sushi is nothing like it is in nz.
