For a three-star hotel, it's too simple... the room they gave me is a tiny little cellar. Yes, breakfast is good.

Amazing hotel and venue. We had our son's christening there.Everything from day one when we met their event planner Maura went smooth. She asked us in brief what we wanted like our son's big day to look like and she took care of everything. We couldn't be happier or grateful. Special thanks to lovely Adela as well, that allocated us the best apartment the hotel has.

This was definitely not worth more than 3 stars. Reception deserted when we arrived. Some staff surly and unhelpful particularly in the restaurant. Our waitress was rude and unpleasant because I was gluten free. Everything was too much trouble particularly checking the menu. It had clean and comfortable beds. Very dated and old fashioned. I would not wish to return

The hotel is positioned perfectly for a tour around Cambridge. It is quite established, clean and the staff are young but polite and attentive. Breakfast provided cereals, hot and cold buffet options and was more than enough to set us up for the day. It would benefit from a little updating but not too much to impact on the character it currently has with ornate mouldings and wood features. I understand it will be closing in April for a complete refurb. All and all a pleasant stay.

Great location and on site parking, hotel is reasonably priced and the breakfast was very nice, room was nice, warm and clean although very dated. The only downside was that the even number bedrooms face out onto the main road and the noise of passing traffic went on till the early hours. But not too bad.

We went for a pre-booked afternoon tea at the Royal Cabridge hotel and quite frankly I was disappointed. We were told to have a seat after arriving but no one came to talk to us for the next 15 minutes so we went to ask again and we've been told that 'something will be sorted out for us'. The food itself was rather disappointing too - it wasnt particularly bad but not really what we've expected from a 3 star hotel, just ordinary sandwiches, cakes that tasted store-bought and ordinary tea.

Stay in Room 114 to get comprehensive understanding of definition on Self - Salvation in modern term. Cannot even terminate yourself by yourself even you trying to do so because you suddenly realize you concentration is a big issue to trigger your personal willingness, due to 100 elephants walking down the stairs, and you sleeping right underneath the flooring deck whole night long. Should drop the name "Royal" because it is far from a splendid hotel. It appears that the owners had a pot of money and spent it all on a lavish entrance, forgetting that the rest of the hotel needs to look the same. Once you step out of the lobby, everything is very dated and showing its age. There is dust, peeling wallpaper and damaged/chipped paintwork. The rooms are not much better. Our original room (306) was pokey with a double bed, furniture from the 50's, uneven carpet, unfinished/poorly decorated bathroom and a shower that was really good... If you only showered in ice cold water. Side Note: If you are offered any of the 300's refuse as they're in the loft space, have no lift to that floor and appear to have been knocked together quickly in order to increase space/revenue. Our second room was 112. This was an improvement over the 306. The decor and furniture had reached the 60's. There was a king-size bed (two singles zipped together), but the quilt belonged to a double, so one of us was always cold during the night. The bathroom was bigger and the shower actually produced hot water at a pressure that allowed you to have a shower. It had two large windows that opened on to the main road that runs behind the hotel. These are not double glazed, and even when closed did very little to block the sound of traffic, or drunk revellers. In fact I don't believe any of the windows were double glazed, so bring ear plugs and your long johns. The walls also appeared to be quite thin, and the bed was against the wall to the corridor, so you could hear everything that happend on the other side of the wall. Breakfast was included. I was impressed with the spread offered, but everything was cold. The cooked breakfast contents was kept in warmers, but these appeared to be ineffective at keeping the food at a suitable temperature. Overall very disappointed and will not stay there again.

Stayed in room 305 - this should never be let out to anyone! Attic room with the ceiling 2 inches above your head, very warm, noisy, inadequate fan and worst of all NO HOT water! Fed this back to reception (who don’t even ask how your stay is, presumably because they are aware of the dilapidated state of the hotel), with little reaction. Even the travel lodge is better than this sorry excuse of a hotel. A real shame that people have to experience this given the prices paid!

The atmosphere and style is warm and cozy, and what you would expect from an old hotel in Cambridge. Not surprisingly, things are a tad worn. Perhaps to overcome this, they advertise that, "It's always Gin O'Clock." Price was very reasonable at 100 GBP for a "family" room with one double and one single bed. Mediocre rooms. Great main course but frustratingly bland starter and desert. Salad was completely unseasoned. Surprised to see a hotel in Cambridge effortlessly whack a bit of dry rocket on a plate. They served tomato and mozzarella without olive oil and with sticky balsamic residue smeared to the bottom. Desert was clearly defrosted. Bottom pastry of Apple tart was desperately dry. A lot of my peers had the same opinion. Bar staff are uninspired.

The Hotel, although not modern, has warm and welcoming services. The Internet works well. The breakfast is nice. The room I stayed was literally licking and dropping on the bed to my utmost dismay, probably after a shower by the occupant of the room directly above on the 3rd floor and the age of the decking/structure.

2 night stay booked using a Groupon voucher. Was worried about the parking but was simple enough, park up, plenty of spaces, pay £15 per night, easy. Just wish the reception had told us how to get out of the car park rather than messing around and then being told by another resident we needed a code. It was exceptional hot weather (25 degrees both days) and when we entered our room it was unbearable. If you opened the bedroom window it was so noisy as the hotel is right on a very busy road. With the heat and noise we really struggled to sleep. We realised in the early hours of the morning that both the radiators were on!! We had a small room on the 2nd floor. Shower was broken. Breakfast was very good, buffet style, cereals, continental, full english, great selection, slightly spoiled by the rude waitress that slammed our drinks down when we asked for a coffee. Superb location, 10 walk to the centre.

Back when this vaults was a really nice cocktail bar. Haven't been here in a while and boy it's taken a dive. The cocktails where great a bit pricey, the bar staff friendly, but the physical premises has seen better days. The men's toilet top 5 worst toilets I've ever been had the displeasure of using. 1 urinal full to the brim with piss and a dead fly floating in it, and given how quiet it was at the time, that wasn't from that evening. Cubicals locks broken and graffiti everywhere.

Usual Cafe Nero. This one is very busy as on Kings Parade. I was able to get a place to sit in the cafe. Would be great if there was a time limit on people staying there. Seemed to be full of students on their laptops and empty coffee caps. Also didn't know you had to get a number to use the loo.
