Booked a table for two for Sunday lunch today at the 1717 restaurant inside the hotel. We took advantage of the £17.17 pp price which includes a 175ml glass of house wine. The service, food and ambience was excellent...as was the value for money. Succulent roast beef with all the trimmings, nuclear horseradish (as I like it) together with attentive staff who asked if we needed anything extra. Lovely table overlooking the busy high street and generous portions of quality food. We will be back.

My wife and I called in late, afternoon for high school tea. The reception and overall service were excellent and the chef prepared a very attractive, well presented medley of savouries, cakes and cream scones. It made our afternoon and we will certainly return.

We are here for a one night stopover. The rooms are spotless and have everything we need. And the location is just right for a wander around Warwick. We have eaten in the restaurant tonight and everything was perfect- the food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and the background music was just right. (Can’t be sure but think it was the theme music from the latest Bridgerton series). We were introduced to a particularly lovely Gin, which was recommended to us by a delightful staff member who was on hand all evening and couldn’t have been more helpful. So it’s a 10/10 from us. If you’re thinking of booking you won’t be disappointed. Well done everyone. And Thank You.

The last time I visited this hotel must have been 20 years ago. It was for lunch. It was dreadful. So this visit was a very big surprise in a very good way! Afternoon tea with friends …what could go wrong ? And dear Reader…the answer is nothing ! Absolutely nothing! It was amazing ! The hotel is no longer dark and poky. Glass doors make the entry light and bright. The restaurant is also bright. It was surprisingly quiet even though busy. The staff were smiley …and attentive. The tea was served in three tiers … an assortment of finger sandwiches, a mega scone each with jam and cream or cream and jam, depending on your county allegiance. An assortment of delicious vegan petit fours garnished with raspberries that tasted like raspberries! Tiny macarons as light as a feather. Cake but not huge slabs. Perfect ! And the staff were still smiling and helpful as we left, even though there was at least one other complex function going on in another part of the hotel. So yes…well earned five stars. And in the words of the song “ Lets go round again”. Would I go back? Yes. Good place for a quiet business meeting and you don’t have to have the afternoon tea ..there are other options. But it was very good indeed ! Thanks to the staff !

Excellent Sunday lunch. Well presented by friendly staff. We both had roasted fig and goats cheese as a starter followed by salmon for my wife and ribeye steak for me. All cooked to perfection. Dessert chosen was passion fruit brûlée and apple and fruit crumble. Also delicious. Wine reasonably priced - Gruner Veltliner and Merlot. All in all an enjoyable time was had by both of us.

If you are visiting the historic county town of Warwick and looking for a safe haven from all this rain then you could do a lot worse than calling into the Warwick Arms Hotel for afternoon tea (Other meals are available and you don't have to wait for it to rain before you visit!). We popped in to meet up with family members and weren't disappointed at the fare on offer. A warm welcome, friendly and attentive staff and, importantly, a fabulous afternoon tea. What are you waiting for. It's a genuine treat

Tried out afternoon tea at @warwickarmshotel today. Lovely selection of sandwiches, cute sugared fruit scones, complete with cherries which is always a bonus in my book, and a generous serving of cream. The frozen packet petit fours let it down a little in my opinion a nice slice of cake would have been a better option. The young man serving us is a credit to the hotel. £15 each and no need to book we will definitely be going back

Excellent Sunday lunch. We went for The Chef’s Menu which offers choices for up to three courses. On this occasion we both had watermelon, cucumber and feta salad with mint oil for starters, salmon for my wife and roast beef for me, plum crumble for me and chocolate torte for my wife. I chose Malbec to accompany, my wife selected the Gruner Veltliner. Great value for money. A return visit will definitely be on the cards! (We were also tempted by the general menu but the Chef’s Menu was too good to miss.)

Had a one night stay here. The hotel was clean and the. staff were exceptional even to the point that one of the staff offered and opened the dining room early and cooked us a full english breakfast as we had an early start. It was nice to have a drink in the lounge in the evening from their well stacked bar. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. Piping hot water in the shower. All in all a very good time was had. The hotel is in a fantastic location for the town and castle.

This is ideal in the Centre of Warwick. Lovely room, fresh, modern, very clean, with a good bathroom. Only fault with the room was the power of the shower and a small bathroom window which needed attention. The breakfast was excellent for choice of cereal, continental cheese and ham. For a full English there were quality bacon and sausage. Nice touch to fill your own pot of tea. We would go again but the stairs to the second floor were a little too much. Would have given 5 stars if there had been a lift!

If you like that too you’ll like the Warwick Arms hotel right in the centre of town. The birthday was great, well catered by the hotel. Morning breakfast was superb, everthing you want on a full English and the quality was great, proper thick bacon, meaty sausages. The continental breakfast I had with it was great. Didn’t need to eat for a couple of days after!

This hotel is in a great location but needs a bit of updating, for us it was perfect as we were only one night. Breakfast should have been good but they had run out of most things and they seemed very short of staff, having said that the staff were super nice and willing, just a bit pushed as the hotel was packed. Also mildly irritating the WiFi was down and we had to pay cash! as the equipment was down. On the plus side the room and bathroom were very clean and I asked for a quite room and they happily accommodated me with a room at the back.

Stayed in the hotel for one night and decided to dine on site. Very quiet and no atmosphere, though depends what you want from your visit. It was a Thursday, so perhaps not busy. Staff very friendly and attentive, though not many of them about, seemed to double up as reception, waitress and bar staff! Food was lovely, well presented and extremely tasty. Couldn't complain at all. Husbands steak was cooked to perfection ( and he is fussy) . I did notice there were a lot of vegetarian options on the menu and not much for meat eaters, which is quite unusual. Doesn't bother me, as eat both. Large, more than adequate portions and piping hot. I did observe that the kitchen was a distance from the dining room, which meant the waitress was trekking back and forth through the reception area with food.

Got this on a Groupon deal which meant it was very inexpensive, but, will aim to go again and try the Friday 'Fish Deal' which I hear is also a good 'stand alone' deal. Two meals and a bottle of wine fo £20.00 sounds great. I say that as another diner there today had fish and described it as 'good cod in a light and crisp batter'...mmm mmm! Today I had a starter of pate which would have been plenty for two followed by a lamb braise. Friends had the battered prawns and hot camenbert, all with chutneys and crisp salad. One had the smoked haddock salad with black pudding and adored it. They were busy with a wedding but nothing was too much trouble with speedy service and the hot food, piping hot. If you're round Warwick take a look, there may be space to park at the rear of this hotel or nearby. Good value for money and again excellent service.Go and enjoy....

We think they have made a big effort recently on doing the restaurant up and it shows, nice and busy restaurant with brilliant food, the muscle starter my fiancé had was huge and if high quality as was my pate starter . Mains were also way beyond my expectations and I suspect they have a very good chef behind the scenes. Service was great also, very friendly and attentive staff. I have met my family here last year. The menu has changed since last time. There are 2 rooms where they serve the food in the front of this very old hotel, which is tastefully decorated with a modern theme incorporating the old architecture. We each chose different sandwiches from a choice of breads and each came with quality chips and a proper interesting rocket salad with balsamic dressing at a very descent price. Some of the menu is more pricey but what we chose was good value and ample. Mine had a generous portion of tuna whilst the others had cheese, or thick cut ham and mustard served separately. We met int the lounge area with sofas and armchairs the bar is located on a lower level. We were given a choice where we could have our meal and we chose the brighter of the two rooms leading of the lounge. It was a bitterly cold day and our waitress turned up the heat, we had our own personal radiator and she came back to check if we were too hot or too cold. The chairs we sat on were modern and comfortable but unpractical for draping your coat on so the waitress brought a coat stand and put our coats on it. She helped us choose the menu and was very pleasant and genuine from the off. When we left and went our separate ways I chanced upon her in her car waiting to turn on to Warwick St, whereupon she opened her window and asked me if we had enjoyed ourselves and would be returning, I said we most certainly would.

The negative reviews and the AI summary do not get this place. This is an innovative chef, with a small team delivering an amazing food experience. I'd rate this restaurant along with Five Fields in London and Astrance in Paris - both small restaurants with small, dedicated teams delivering great food. Of course the portions are small - this is a seven course tasting menu. There are about 28 covers, each served each course at about the same time - within a span of 5 - 10 minutes - very efficiently and with a very friendly attitude. At 120 pounds, the menu is reasonably priced. A good wine list, again at reasonable prices. All the people we chatted with were all very positive, and it was a repeat visit for several of them.

To say that Cheal’s provided the finest of dining experiences would be an understatement. From the moment we entered the foyer, we were treated to an unparalleled experience. The service was exemplary; food exquisite; and atmosphere, quintessentially British - for which my Brazilian wife was eternally grateful. The entire endeavour was without fault, snobbery, or pretension. All one was complied to do was relax and enjoy the evening. Cheal’s is a real gem in Knowle’s crown. Now, back to reality and two unruly children 😀
