Bistro du Vin in Stratford-on-Avon

Visited the Bar -2 members of staff one serving in bar one seated chatting loudly to each other -not the right ambience for a nice hotel bar.Gave the impression of part time customer attendance. We have been before and it was fine -good experience--customers respected

We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed our meal but were extremely disappointed by the continual 'upselling'. The waiter was very pleasant and helpful but we felt company policy was to upsell which felt awkward. This detracted from the enjoyment and we will not return as we found it embarrassing continually saying 'no thank you'.

Dinner to celebrate our Wedding anniversary. We chose the Chateaubriand to share, cooked rare. Cooked perfectly and melt in the mouth. Home made apple tarte tatin, home made creme brulee. Good wine selection and Great service by Will. Highly recommended.

Very good place, elegant and very good food. Service was exceptional, Max it's a professional, very attentive to details and always in there making sure that all is good for you. We definitely coming back with family next time.

Firstly we went in for my partner’s birthday. We live in Stratford so not staying but have stayed in many hotel du vins over the years and they have never disappointed. I would say the coffee was really good. The additional continental bits were ok. Not a massive selection. One thing I would say is the butter used to be amazing but now it’s flora and another brand which were just ok. The one thing that was really great was Mary. Mary was excellent and a great representation of great customer service. Breakfast was really great too.

Really enjoyable dinner at the HDV, with great service from Max and Rui. They provided great wine suggestions for the mushroom first course, listened to what we liked and engaged in conversations about the food and hotel. The only way to improve an evening here is to turn the music down.

We visited Hotel du vin for dinner on Saturday 3rd February and chose the Taste du vin menu. We had not visited for quite a long time and we were looking forward to it. We were not disappointed. We were made welcome from the moment we arrived and our waitress Laura was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and the food, and very warm and friendly. The Taste du vin menu is great value . The wines are all very good and the food was splendid. The menu is not clever or complicated but it is all very enjoyable and good quality. We all particularly enjoyed the beef cheek, which is available on the main menu. The smoked salmon was simply served but it was very good indeed. We are very much looking forward to visiting again soon.

We came to Bistro du Vin for dinner on Valentine's Day and had a lovely experience. The food was delicious, with a relaxed and intimate evening atmosphere, and Max and the team made sure we were well looked after. It was our first time trying this restaurant and we really enjoyed it - we will be back!

We had an all round fantastic meal at the bistro. It was a tasting menu done correctly. From the start we were made to feel welcomed and relaxed by Laura and the team. The courses both standard and vegan came out at the right "speed" IE not rushed but equally not too spaced out. The quality was superb, and quantity about right. Added to this the sommelier was excellent with great wine pairing.. The whole experience was great and Laura was outstanding

Excellent full English breakfast. Also enjoyed the avocado toast with poached eggs. All served by Mary who is always very welcoming, cheerful and helpful. Looking forward to our next visit.

Given the struggles in the hospitality industry, it was wonderful to visit an establishment that still values and delivers hospitality as an art. Max and the rest of the team provided a great atmosphere and service. Thank you.

The eggs royale (benedict + smoked salmon) were fantastic, honestly really well cooked!! The coffee was lovely! The charcuterie board was a bit underwhelming but we were very happy with the main meal! Service was also great!

The service was first class, friendly and attentive. The food was reasonably good too... the paté was sublime; proper, bacon-clad, chef's 'rough' patè as opposed to those pureed smooth offerings that tend to be what you find mostly these days. So I started on a real high with a superb dish. The confit duck leg to follow was a much more mixed experience... The duck itself was succulent, flavourful and worthy of its heritage. However... the sweet little duck leg had been abandoned on a sort of soup, presumably made up of the promised accompaniment of pancetta, peas, bread beans, croutons and frisée lettuce. Well... the lettuce had been rendered in this 'soup' and none of the other ingredients were properly distinguishable... but the salt had been overdone to the point where it too should have been listed as an ingredient. I enjoyed my duck leg enormously but it would have been much enhanced by red cabbage, mash, root vegetables or roasted sprouts... any one of a number of preferable ingredients. There was some decent wine available though, and the duck itself was delicious, so the evening was saved by that... and the incredible patè of course.

The food was mediocre. I thought the food was just okay. I got half board. The breakfast was good. The dinner was not what I had expected.

We went Tuesday at 1 pm after looking in their web page that they had a set menú of 2 or 3 courses served Monday to Thursday from 12:30 to 3:30pm and from 5 to 7pm. The lady at the restaurant said that it was only from 5 to 7. We said that their web page said different, she denied. I showed the web page information stating what I said. First she said that that was "another's restaurant page". I showed the whole page to her, which is also the hotel page where the restaurant is. Being unable to contradict that, then she said that the restaurant's web page must be wrong. Until 5 they could only serve the classic menú. We left. The lady wasn't disrespectful but all the time treated us as we were inventing the information and trying to get something we shouldn't. Will not be back again

I really don't understand why this restaurant has such a low rating.....it really deserves to be much higher ranked. Perhaps it's because it is a hotel restaurant, rather than a restaurant in its own right? The fixed price menu had more than enough variety that there was no need to stray into the a la Carte items. Service at dinner was pacy but not rushed (although there was the 10pm 'curfew' to be considered). Everything we had was well prepared and presented. It was a new menu that day and the only thing out of place was that the main course haddock gratin (as on the menu) was actually smoked haddock. A major difference, but nonetheless really tasty.You don't have to stay at the Hotel du Vin to enjoy a good dinner experience in the restaurant. Well worth it

Nos alojamos en el Macdonald Alverstan, pero terminamos comiendo en este hotel para el almuerzo y la cena, ya que el hotel Macdonald era horrible. Nos dijeron que no había una versión más pequeña para niños, por lo que acordamos un menú para 3 personas, pero todo, excepto las bebidas y 1 tipo de sándwich, se sirvió para 2. Tuve que asumir que incluían una versión más pequeña para un niño, sin embargo, el precio de esta experiencia fue de 75 libras.Los cubiertos se sirvieron solo para 2 personas y no se entregaron platos individuales para nadie.Comenzaron el servicio con los postres: ¿qué extraño es mostrarles el desierto a los niños pequeños primero (?!?)
