Warner's End Fish Bar in Dacorum

Place has gone downhill since new ownership, cold inedible food. I think they are more interested in selling kebabs than fish and chips.

Went in and was mischarged and treated rudely by the old bloke in there, Boxmoor fish and chips is better by far - and they give bigger portions!

Came in for some chips and they were slightly undercooked. Thought I’d post it here as they are new and want them to be better.

Gave this place a 1 star review a couple of years ago, heard it had changed hands and been back twice in the last month and been superb both times

I have tried this establishment twice since it changed ownership. The first time the quality was not great but decided to give them another try. I wish I hadn't. The fish batter was not crisp at all. The mushy peas were extremely watery and the chips were just unappetising. It wasn't cheap either. For the price they charge I expect top quality, not the substandard meal that I received. I will not be using them again.

First time at this shop and wasn’t too bad. The portions weren’t that big - I had a large cod which was more like a medium and haven’t experienced such a small portion of chips HOWEVER the chips were lovely and crispy and the fish fairly tasty. Will try again !

Was initially put off by some of the more negative reviews but I had a positive experience. The staff were warm and friendly and there were a good selection of options. I thought the prices were reasonable especially in comparison with other fish bars. I'd return.

I am always nice, always tip and giving me an old piece of small cod as a large fish was simply not nice. Should have just told me that you’re almost closing and that’s all you have…and now you just lost a customer as I won’t be returning.

Service was so bad I left and went and got a Chinese…The old man serving needs to retire. . The upside is that the Chinese was vary good and I recommend going there instead of this place!

Ridiculously small box of chips that they have the cheek to call a portion and charge three times as much for, which were bland and undercooked.

Had a lovely portion of freshly cooked chips. Best chips I've had from any chip shop in a long time. Would definitely recommend the chips.

Seems to have been taken over by different people. Portions are small, battered sausage was horrible. Expensive for small and not very nice food

I believe its been taken over by new management which is fine but the first thing they did was jack all the prices up now it's £3.50 for a tiny portion of chips also nothing that I saw was cooked fresh like it used to be its all cooked and kept warm for god knows how long I ordered the one thing that shouldn't be kept warm a 1/2 pound burger I got a 1/4 burger so over cooked you could of used it for the sole of your shoe never eating here again way over priced and with the new owners the food is horrible which is a shame this used to be a good fish and chips place not any more .

Food was as dreary as the service. If that's the large chips I'd hate to see the small portion size!

Chip portion for the money was very small. My usual is twenty pence more but double the amount of chips. Other than being hot there is not much else good I can say about the food. Chips were waxy rather than being fluffy. Sausage had little flavour but was cooked well. The people serving clearly did NOT want to be working on a Friday saying the bare minimum required to the customers. It’s a place where I wish I could pay less for receiving the barest amount of customer service. Take order, take money with absolute minimum said. Think she even just pointed to the total on the till. That’s all u get here, fast food. I prefer value for money and good food served as soon as possible.

Really a big disappointment, put a vege patty on top of a fish in one box, I mean how dumb can you be for doing that. A vege burger is ordered for a reason as a vegan. Common sense goes along way

Cod and chips were tasty, but very small portions for the amount you pay. Would not hurt staff to be a bit more happier in their job, so miserable looking. Maybe a bit of back ground music may cheer them up.

Very good fish and chips cooked to order we wouldn't go anywhere else

NO STARS. Two poor experiences of this "chip shop" but I thought there had been a change of staff so I'd give it one more go. I was wrong and it's as poor as ever. Yesterday I paid £8.00 for freshly cooked haddock. When I got home I found a thinly battered cod broken into in three pieces which had clearly been kept warm for a long time and chips that were greasy and made about an hour earlier. Honestly. I feel very cheated. Incompetent and charmless. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If you must go, check you've been given what you paid for.

Was ignored for 10 minutes before someone came out and served other people behind me in the shop first. Not even an apology. Terrible service.

Always get fantastic Fish n Chips here, it is my favourite place to go and reasonably priced!

Fish could be better. the other guy who run it lovely chips. rubbish NOW you get a lovely lot of chips. You asked for a large chips and you get a small portion rubbish

Used to be good portion of chips half the size since they now use boxes

Very disappointing. Large cod turned out to be a normal cod, only 9.5 inch long. If that was large then a normal cod will only be about 6 inches! Very few chips, only 4 of which were actual edible chips with the rest being scraps. All served in a small box which automatically limits what you get to a small portion. The owner needs to get down to Kings Langley chippy to see what a large cod is really like and what proper chips are really like. It's not hard but it starts with caring about whetee the customer us going to enjoy what you serve.

0 stars.Terrible chip shop. Ordered a 1/4 pounder with cheese and chips. It tastes awful. The burger tasted like cardboard mush and the chips dry burnt nothingness. This is during a dinner rush also so the freshness was not good. Not going back there again.

Have bought cod and chips from here several times over the last few months. All freshly cooked, chips are not soggy and good value for £5. All staff were wearing masks.

Tried to charge me for a large cod and chips when I asked for a normal cod and chips.when clearly she was going to give me a small cod Which was the only one left in the oven until I asked her if that was a large cod, she she no and reduced the price .I wonder how many people they have done that too .

Lovely food, however chip portions are a bit small.

Bought lunch in there today £14 00 all in the bin chips were old refried tough and tasteless fish although freshly cooked tasted oily not nice at all as I say ended up in the bin keep saying last chance but this really is the last time we will use this shop kept hoping it would go back to how it used to be but it's now proved it wont

Not fresh. The chips were scooped out of a tray where they were being kept warm, so they were very dry. It literally takes a few mins to freshly deep fry chips! The battered cod was thin and dry too. The battered sausage was like mushy dog food. Won't be going again as I can't see it being any different. Shame there's not many proper fish n chips shops around these days.

Quite expensive and the food is just standard in my opinion. Hardly ever taste the salt and vinegar no matter how much I put on... need to put more effort into the quality And taste... add a slice of lemon maybe or change the chips. Service is great but food could be better

Great food, but suspicious that regulars jump the queue when waiting for haddock etc to cook.

I have a food intolerance: so, I cannot eat anything that has gluten or wheat. We were regular visitors to the Fish Bar and always had a excellent service. The staff were always very kind about my intolerance and would cook a cod (without the batter) and chips. However, our recent purchase turned out to be a nightmare. We asked for the usual but when we got home, we found that the fish had been cooked in batter. So, I had to eat the chips all by themselves - which wasn't really good. I'm afraid to say that we won't be returning to the Fish Bar in future.
