This Hotel is a real "find". The food is wonderful; it is secluded and it is near to Bamburgh and Lindisfarne and Alnwick, all of which were on our "to do" list. The restaurant dining was superb. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the only adverse comment we might make which is easily fixable is that the floor boards in our room (and probably other rooms) were very squeaky and so we felt we were disturbing the people below every time we moved about.

From check in to departure you are just like one of the family. In fact, it is run by a few families who all work together to ensure your stay is informal but of the highest quality. A wide variety of rooms, interesting décor, beautiful gardens, easy parking, locally sourced food , experienced staff, a fabulous area of Northumbria with its own wildlife park on the doorstep .......

My husband and I dined here during our stay in the area and had a wonderful evening. The pre dinner drinks and hors d’oeuvres in the drawing room alongside lovely, attentive staff, started off our evening perfectly. The service continued to impress and the food was delicious. Because of our experience we booked a table for the following week to celebrate my dad’s 87th birthday. Everything we experienced the first time was replicated, plus the staff couldn’t have done more to make my dad feel special. This place is wonderful, and thank you so much for all that you did to make it an unforgettable experience.

This hotel is absolutely WOW from the minute you step into its warmth. We had a stunning room (Swans) with a four poster bed.Every little turn in the hotel has yet another objet d'ar. We had dinner and breakfast for two nights.....the dinners were excellent, and there is an extensive wine list. The food was some of the best we have ever eaten, and service was excellent. We had pre-dinner drinks in the drawing room. . A very warm and comfortable ambience with delightful staff. We'll be back.

A return visit to stay at Waren House and delighted at the high standards being continued. Great room (with lovely views out over the countryside) and a very comfortable bed! Bathroom had shower handset overthe bath, not a seperate shower but this was fine for one night and plenty of hot water 'on tap'. Dining again was first class and possibly exceeds the two rosette standard, with local suppliers promoted and chef Steve Owens and the team in Grays Restaurant clearly understanding the way to create quality dishes of consostent quality. Pre dinner drinks served with canapes in the lounge then a wonderful meal with amusee bouche, starter, sorbet, mains and desserts and rounded off with after dinner coffees delivered to the lounge again, all served in a first class manner from very accomplished staff. The hotel itself has a mix of room styles but all to a good finish reflecting the eclectic decoration of the country house - the location though is great for a base in the area, and the restaurant is also open to non residents. Highly recommended!

We have stayed at the Waren House Hotel a number of times over the years. The accommodations, food and service are consistently great! The staff is efficient, friendly and customer-oriented. The menu is varied and all dishes are well prepared as ordered. There is lots to do in the area, especially if you are a hiker.

The accommodations were clean and nice. The food was well presented. The wine was overpriced and the hospitality was lacking, to say the least.

We come here with friends every year or so. The food is consistently good and the service is excellent. The Doddington cheese soufflé is a firm favourite for a starter. The belly pork was melt in the mouth delicious and the lemon parfait a perfect ending. We finished with tea and truffles in the library which was very relaxing. We were only sorry we weren't staying this time and that we had to drive home afterwards.

Invited to dine here by friends who were staying here; the experience was as good as it gets! The hotel is comfortable in an 'olde worlde' style. The choice of menu would suit anyone and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. A bonus were the surprise pre-starter 'amuse bouche', and the sorbet before the main course. The staff were most attentive and looked after us faultlessly. Would recommend eating here without any doubts. Our friends wouldn't keep coming back to stay here if it wasn't really good.

A lovely Country House Hotel with a very warm welcome. Could not fault any aspect of our meals, the food was delicious and its presentation first class. The waitresses were attentive and friendly and had a thorough understanding of each dish. Granny and your team... We loved you! Would definitely like to return if in Craster again on holiday.

We stayed at Waren House for 2 nights visiting the area for the wedding. The hotel is in a lovely location very near to the coast - an ideal place for exploring North Northumberland. We had dinner at the hotel on one night only because of the wedding. The quality of the food was excellent and the service was good, though perhaps lacking a bit in experience. It was a very enjoyable stay.

This hotel restaurant harks back to a byegone age. Old courtesies and traditions abound. They couldn't use a word like "retro" - those days have never faded. It isn't cheap. You begin with canapés served with your drinks in the Drawing Room. Home made breadsticks with a dip. You're served a pre-starter : on this occasion it was cauliflower soup (which really tasted of cauliflower). The real starter was stunning and has been featured in a high-class, glossy book about local cuisine. A cheese soufflé to die for. Worth the visit on its own. A poor orange sorbet followed. And I was disappointed to find the main course lamb had been cooked rather more than I would choose. My fault perhaps. I had forgotten that in older places they haven't embraced the view that it should be pink. Indifferent but fussy veg - why deconstruct a pea? I had the lemon tart for dessert. Again richer and larger than is currently fashionable perhaps. An interesting experience.

This is a lovely country house hotel with fine dining, booking is strongly advised as it appears to be very popular indeed. The dining room is quite formal and has a family feel to it. Food was locally sourced where possible, including Northumbrian cheese. The wine list was exceptional with a really good list of half bottles enabling you to choose a different wine with each course which is ideal for smaller parties. Service was friendly with food brought to the table by some delightful Geordie hinnies. Highly recommended in a beautiful part of the UK.

We came here for Father’s Day expecting it to be very good. We arrived and were impressed by the exterior and grounds. We were greeted immediately and ushered to the lounge given the menus and asked about drinks. I thought the menu a little dear at £42 for 3 courses but was happier when we were immediately served with some lovely hors d’oeuvres all very tasty. I chose a bottle of Lebanese (first for us all) wine which, going by the description would suit the venison chosen by both my father and me. The dining room was well decorated and in keeping with a classy old fashioned establishment. And the menu was classy and varied with a good description of dishes and an interesting itinerary of local food and drink suppliers. .We were again surprised by the soup which was served (pre-starter) and was again very tasty. Our starters were lovely and well presented. Again we were pleasantly surprised to be served a delicious sorbet prior to the mains. The meat was cooked to perfection and was light and succulent accompanied by lovely vegetables (though not a big plateful we had already consumed 4 courses so it seemed enough. The sweets all looked and sounded lovely and the local cheese and biscuits(not enough but got lots more when I asked) were delicious with beautiful chutney (the waitress says not many people eat it and they have to throw it out) which was gorgeous. Finally back to the lounge where we were served tea and coffee with lovely bics and chocs. A wonderful night out, being over 2 hrs of slow eating and chatting, in a delightful place. We will be back.

I took my partner to the Waren House Hotel for a birthday meal in April 2013 on the recommendation of my mam who has been before. I called the hotel and booked about two months in advance however this was not neccessary as when we arrived on the night we were the only people dining in the restaurant. This turned out to be a blessing. From the moment we arrived we were looked after by the staff. we were shown to the drawing room in the first instance where we were given our menu's, drinks and appetizers. From thre we were shown to the dining room where we enjoyed a fantastic 5 course meal. The food and service were fantastic! To end the meal we were shown back to the drawing room to enjoy coffee and petit fours. The quality of the food throughout the meal was devine. The fact that we were the only ones in did not spoil the experience as, in effect we got private dining for no extra cost. At the time this lavish menu cost £38 per person which I thought was cheap for what you got. The price has now gone up to £42 per person but I would not hesitate to pay this for another meal at the hotel. We will be back soon with all the family!

The hotel provided excellent value for money on a superb 5 course meal. The portion sizes were perfect, the food delicious and the service superb. The menu had a lovely variety to choose from and we were given extra special touches when the staff found out we were celebrating my husband's birthday. A highly recommended location for a delicious meal.

We have been here twice recently for a meal and both times were first class, the food is very good and the menu is changed every week. The staff are very friendly and very helpful, they even remembered we had been previously. The setting is very tranquil and relaxed, what a wonderful place for a meal. You get realy good locally sourced food, presented to the highest of standards, one of our party has a gluten allergy and they even had gluten free bread as well as adapting the other courses to her needs. Well worth a visit.

We stayed on the attached Campsite while attending a wedding locally. What a find this place was. Excellent campsite with facilities on pitches, very well kept by Mark. Site security was excellent. Cafe onsite offered variety of food including fantastic homemade cakes made by Helen. Throughly recommend this place to stay over or just visiting the Cafe. Good selection of plants as well.

I go here regularly with my son and my Mum/his Nanny. Dena always gives the best service be it busy or not. She ALWAYS remembers your preference of drinks and will check this is what you're having before making it. The food she makes is tasty and reasonably priced,....and always has a great selection of sweet treats. Nothing is ever to much for her and we love it. Keep doing what you're doing Dena, as it really works!

Visited with my parents and daughter and her family, ages from 18 months to 85 years. Basic food, but very fresh and hot and very generous portions. The staff are excellent! Helpful, friendly and very accommodating. It was very busy, which is always a good sign. Nothing not to like.

We visited the Fox & Hounds for a birthday lunch. The interior is modern and cosy, the welcome, warm and friendly. The menu is a lovely combination of popular favourites and also more exciting dishes presented with great style. The Thai scotch egg was delicious, as was the Cromer crab on toast. The main courses did not disappoint either, the generous and beautifully cooked calves liver was excellent, as was my wife's hake. Well done to the whole team, an excellent meal from start to finish.
