Lovely dog friendly B&B, Martin was incredibly polite and accommodating and made us feel at home. Also a great cooked breakfast to wake up to. We will definitely come again, thank you Martin!

We had a wonderfull stay here. The breakfast was phenomenal, the best english breakfast we ever had. The host was welcoming and kind. The room was well furnished, with an armchair, desk & pouf and plenty of storage space. The hotel was easy to reach from the highway. The only thing we didn‘t like: the bed had a foot panel, so for tall people it can be tight.

A real gem of a place - we stayed here for a night and couldn't have had a warmer welcome, kinder host or amazing time. We were even treated to Robinsons cider, which was a real treat. The landlord was incredible, going above and beyond to make our stay more perfect. Breakfast was also great and there was plenty of choices. Absolutely recommend to visit!

Stayed here while travelling for business. Owner and staff very friendly. Room had sloping ceilings and may not be best for someone who would have difficulty with bending to avoid hitting their head! However I loved it. Older style property with wooden beams. Was quiet on the night to sleep, no problem with noise. Had a meal on the night, they had a deal on the cottage pie. It was all very nice. Would recommend.

Stayed for overnight stay, Sadly the inn is very tired inside and outside the room was full of wood worm the bed was old with a old mattress springs could be felt . It was a small room in the eaves with a collection of old items so i actually felt like i was sleeping in a a storage cupboard as one small dorma window no view except a tired roof . The host Martin is a lovely eager to please gentleman but kindness does not improve a stay. The breakfast was nicely displayed but so greasy poor quality coffee . I did give my feedback to the owner before i posted this review.

We did an overnight stay here. Rooms are pleasant with sone good quality vintage furniture. En suite was very modern with shower. Bed was very comfortable. Tea tray with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits supplied. Fresh milk in the fridge. Secondary double glazing ensured that any noise from the main road couldn’t be heard. The bar downstairs has a nice ambience, with friendly customers who obviously visit very often. Bar staff were polite and friendly. We had dinner, which was excellent. Cooked by the Landlord, Martin. His breakfast the next morning was equally good and plentiful. A very pleasant stay.

My husband and I spent the bank holiday weekend here as a getaway from a long lockdown of working from home and DIY. Martin was friendly and welcoming from the start, and our room - Beams - was gorgeous, in the oldest part of the house and dating from the 17th century. Martin was incredibly conscientious about COVID safeguarding and we felt completely at ease. The steak and ale pie is not to be missed!

We live several miles from Kempsey and have often thought to drop in at this pub. Passing earlier this week we noticed that this very day they were cooking food to take home, fish and chips to be precise as they prepared the kitchen for opening tomorrow.Knowing how the dish does not typically travel well we took along;Salt and VinegarKnives and ForksTartare SauceNapkinsWe parked in the car park and with a couple of pints of their house cider we enjoyed a pleasant meal in the car park at the back.. The fish was light and well cooked, the batter crispy. The chips were great. Pots of mushy peas and tartare sauce completed the picture.Well done to Martin and the team who were putting the final touches to tomorrow’s opening. Wishing you all the best tomorrow.

My Mum and I regularly do Sunday lunch and were looking for somewhere new to try not too far from Worcester. Having researched on line and found this pub’s website offering a varied menu at sensible prices with an imaginative veggie option, I booked on line on Sunday morning. I did have to phone and check that a table was available before setting off as no one got back to me to confirm. On arrival the front of the pub did seem to lack some kerb appeal - no info about food available, plants seemingly dying in window boxes, tired looking main front door etc. However, lots of easy parking behind pub and front entrance not actually used as we were directed to the side entrance. Cosy atmosphere inside with roaring log fire and a sunny window seat was offered, but the decor inside looks tired like the outside and dated too. No worries about a table still being available as, apart from 3 people and their dog having a drink, we were the only people there the whole time on a Sunday lunchtime. Waitress and the chef/ owner were both very friendly. They noted I had asked about veggie options on my booking and they offered to do an extra veggie dish not on menu if we wanted. We both chose the veggie option on the menu- goat’s cheese and aubergine stack with ratatouille. The waitress reminded us it didn’t come with any potatoes so we ordered a portion to share- for which we were not charged. The food was obviously freshly cooked and was an extremely well presented and tasty main course- albeit the aubergine had been replaced with courgettes. The chef/ owner even came out to ask if we liked the dish. I agreed we did, but I did point out the lack of aubergine. He explained he had substituted it with courgettes as he thought they went well, but why call it goat’s cheese and aubergine stack then? It would have been nice to have been informed beforehand of this change to the printed menu. There is only a choice of 2 sweets so we had one of each. After a bit of a wait they arrived. The apple crumble was full of chunky apple and the crumble very crunchy, the orange Cointreau pancakes were obviously freshly made again, with a rich tangy orange sauce. By this stage we were the only people in the whole pub, which felt a bit strange. The food is excellent and good value at just over £30 for the 2 courses for the two of us with a soft drink each. Not sure how the place manages to keep going if this is a typical Sunday, which is a great shame as the owner and his waitress are lovely and the food delicious. Perhaps a bit of investment in freshening up the front to make it look more inviting would encourage more people/ or perhaps we had just been there on an unusually quiet day.

Our visit was like going back in time when pub grub was fresh, tasty and value for money … and with a charming, genuine host Martin, who also is the genius who turn out the fabulous food! The young lady who served us was also extremely friendly (sorry we didn’t get her name). Another MASSIVE bonus is the quality of the superb real ales (the Timothy Taylor was just heaven!!), though shouldn’t be a surprise as Walter is a long term member in the Good Beer Guide. All four of us enjoyed every course we had, but in particular a new-to-the-menu Lamb dish (with Rhubarb ....wow!!!), the salmon with pesto pasta was cooked to perfection and then as for the pudding, the stunning Cointreau and Orange Pancakes …. to die for!!!! It was all SUCH AMAZING QUALITY you would happily pay a lot more for the pleasure (though please don’t put your prices up Martin!!). The friendly ambience of a pub full of locals also added to the whole experience …. suffice to say “We Will Be Back”!!!!

We booked to stay at the inn for 2 nights and had been warmly greeted by Martin, the owner. Having seen the menu before going to our room and after a long day, it was an easy decision to eat here.Despite it having been a gloriously sunny spring day, the evening was cool, so nice to see the log fire burning. I had carrot and coriander soup to start which is possibly the best version of the soup I have ever tasted, Cajun chicken with apple crumble and ice cream for dessert. My partner had the steak and ale pie with a side serving of carrots and peas and a chocolate brownie for dessert. The food was delicious and portions were large. All food is freshly cooked though we didn’t have to wait long at all. I should probably add that my other half is a really fussy eater and not easily impressed. He ate everything and thoroughly enjoyed it.We decided to eat here on our second night also as it had been so good already, this time taking a seat near the roaring fire. My partner had the steak and ale pie again which came with a side serving of carrots and tender stem broccoli which he devoured with crepes for dessert. I had gammon which came with both pineapple and an egg. The gammon was huge and perfectly cooked. Having apple crumble again for dessert as it had been so tasty the night before.Everything was spotlessly clean. Chairs were comfy. Cosy atmosphere with the log fire and candles on the table. Food and drink prices were reasonable, especially for the portion sizes. Martin was a wonderful host and should we be in that neck of the woods again, we would not hesitate to visit.

We have eaten at this venue on several occasions and the food, cooked by the landlord, has usually been above average. It's certainly not child friendly inside and the customers appear to be mostly locals. It's a very small venue and I wouldn't suggest that you drop in on the off chance expecting food. Some TLC in the gents toilets wouldn't go amiss.

Recently visited on a Saturday afternoon. Not a customer in sight. Sat in the garden with our children. The barmaid was more than helpful, and couldn’t fault her. The landlord on the other hand, did want the children to make it look like a ‘payground’ and made us perfectly aware that he would rather an empty pub, than one with children in. We chose this pub as we wanted somewhere near St Peters and reading the recent reviews it seemed the best choice. However the promised log fire from their website couldn't be seen, the table we sat at in the back was really cold. Bar service painfully slow, then the same girl came to our table to take our order even though we had to find the menus ourselves! When the food eventually came it was very good, but there wasn't a great choice. Slightly disappointing.

We visited Worcester (by rail) last week to watch some cricket. We were stopping in the City on the Wednesday (cricket Thursday), so I thought it would be a good idea (using TripAdvisor) to travel outside the city for a good pub meal together with a couple of pints. We got the bus to Kempsey - not the best service - one an hour!?! And arrived just after half 5. When we arrived not sure it was open as there were no cars - or people about. However pushing the door it was. We were immediately warmly greeted by the Landlord - Martin, who said they had only just opened. After a good natter (including the frequency of buses) we went outside to the garden, lovely setting with a couple of menus, and our drinks. After around 10 minutes Martin appeared to say he'd checked on bus times and found that the next one was 18.15 (a little early) then 23.15 (a little late)! Martin then said he did need to pop into Worcester later so when we were ready he would give us a lift back to our hotel. Obviously Fantastic - although not a service he perhaps can offer to every customer?!? I know everyone is different but all seven dishes on the menus to me sounded lovely plus the prices were very reasonable. And they were. I had Chicken, Kath had the burger. I think you can tell the difference between a cook and a chef and Martin was definitely the latter. Around half 10 and after three (four?) pints of Landlord Martin took us back into 'Town'. We couldn't have asked for anymore. Perfect. Plus the day after Yorkshire won!!

The starters we ordered came quite soon after ordering, however they were not the starters we ordered (also only people eating)!! Menu limited, it seemed like it was a pub for locals to drink but not for food.I asked for the steak in red wine sauce, the steak I asked for was medium rare but more on the rare side. The steak seemed like it had been beaten to death before being fried to death!!. The red wine sauce was interesting, now sure if they used powdered parmesan cheese as a thickner, it certainly didn't taste of red wine. The bar staff/waitress was friendly but lacking in knowledge of food and also asked if I wanted Ice cubes in my red wine.

Had a 3 course meal here 16/01/2015 which was a set meal bought on a Groupon voucher. Salmon starter was very good and so was the Pate starter, lamb main course was nice and so was the desert. Now I thought the Idea with a Groupon was to show off what you can do so people would return, this didn't work for me. It was good value but If I had paid full price I would have been a little disappointed. on the other hand some regulars said they loved the food there but they didn't have a Groupon set meal. The best way to describe the restaurant would be a back room In a pub, no effort made to create an ambiance which I think Is important when eating out. I am not slating this place, I just think it could be made a little more cosy and definitely a new music system, the quality of sound was grinding on the ears. Nice food good service but a few hundred quid spent on some furniture, music and lighting would make all the difference.

When we arrived we were told we weren't going to get the meal, which we booked weeks before, and we could get a meal across the road at the Talbot!!! The Talbot however could not offer us a meal as they had a Christening party in. The barman also has the discretion to close when he sees fit, and on this particular evening, despite having guests booked in for the night and other customers in the bar, he closed it at 8pm. The room, thank goodness, was good, with TV, as we had to spend all our evening there.

Last night myself and my fiance, plus exwork friends were making up a group of 6. We had booked for a pre Christmas catch-up. Well superb food and service! Excellent evening and then a few drinks after in the bar. The waitresses/ barman were attentive. Fantastic service and a wonderful evening. Thank you all 😀

Excellent Sunday Lunch backed up with friendly staff and chilled, cosy atmosphere. Found this gem on Google after meeting friends for a dog walk on Malvern Hill. Luckily we booked a table as it was busy inside and outside from beginning to end. It’s a very dog friendly pub but equally if the 4 legged fur ball isn’t your thing, it’s also good for a family gathering or date night! We all tucked into the roast, my only criticism was I like my beef rare and it was more like medium well but we were at the 3:00 sitting so the juicy bits already eaten. We shared a lemon basil tiramisu which was phenomenal and generous portion! We will definitely return when our calves allow us to move again!

Superb Sunday roast, excellent service and friendly welcome. Very modest prices and only a short hop to Castlemorton Common and Malvern Hills to build up an appetite or walk off the lunch. Worth pre booking especially for Sunday lunch. Dog friendly.

Visited for a Spa Day which included Afternoon Tea and decided to stay for dinner too. I have a milk allergy which they catered for extremely well. The Afternoon Tea and Fish and Chips we had for dinner were the best l have ever tried. I do dine out often and this food surpassed my expectations!!! The only let down was the waiter that served us at Dinner. There were two of us dining but he seemed to be oblivious to the fact that I was even there. Whilst serving he seemed to address my friend more which left me somewhat bewildered. At one point he even turned his back to me whilst telling my friend what specials were available! He also poured out my friends drink but did not do the same for me. His behaviour was very odd to say the least and I have never experienced such blatant ignorance before.
